Defect. THE ENGINE FAN MAY EXPERIENCE A RESONANT FREQUENCY CAUSING PREMATURE FAN FAILURE, AND SEPARATION FROM THE ENGINE.
Risk. ENGINE FAN SEPARATION CAN CAUSE DEATH OR INJURY TO ANYPERSON IN THE PATH OF THE FAN.
Remedy. REPLACE ENGINE FAN WITH FAN FROM ANOTHER MANUFACTURER.
Defect. AIR BRAKE SYSTEM WAS MODIFIED BY ADDING A LONGER AIR LINE BETWEEN THE ABS SOLENOID AND THE TRANSFER TEE TO SIMPLIFY MANUFACTURING. THIS MODIFICATION CAUSED THE TRUCKS TO BE IN NON-COMPLIANCE WITH FMVSS 121, BRAKE TIMING TEST.
Risk. THE MISTIMED BRAKE AND ABS SYSTEM MAY CAUSE THE TRUCK TOFAIL THE STOPPING DISTANCE REQUIREMENT OF THE FMVSS, WHICH MAY LEAD TO ANACCIDENT.
Remedy. REMOVE THE EXTRA LENGTH OF AIR LINE AND INSTALL THE TRANSFER TEE AT THE ABS SOLENOID.
Defect. PITMAN ARM PINCH BOLTS MAY HAVE BEEN INADEQUATELY TORQUED.
Risk. THIS COULD ALLOW PITMAN ARM TO SLIP ON THE STEERING GEAROUTPUT SHAFT RESULTING IN LOSS OF CONTROL AND AN ACCIDENT.
Remedy. RETORQUE PINCH BOLTS AND RESET AS NECESSARY.
