2018 Jayco Travel Trailer Jay Flight

Defect. Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain 2017-2018 Jayco Designer, 2017-2021 Eagle HT, Eagle, Jay Feather, Jay Flight SLX, Jay Flight, North Point, Octane Superlite, Pinnacle, White Hawk, 2017-2020 Eagle HT, 2018-2021 Jay Flight Bungalow, 2017-2019 Octane, and 2019-2020 Eagle HTX travel trailers and fifth wheels equipped with a Winntec model 6020 two-stage propane regulator. The regulator may fail, causing an increase in propane pressure.

Risk. Increased propane pressure can enlarge the flames in gas appliances, increasing the risk of a fire.

Remedy. Dealers will replace the regulator and test the propane system for leaks, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 3, 2021. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-283-8267.

The contact owns a 2018 Jayco Flight SLX trailered to a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated while driving approximately 60 MPH, it was discovered the exterior lights were not functioning as designed. The trailer was diagnosed by a local mechanic that the wiring from the junction box of the front trailer was cut by a diamond plate, which caused the lights to be inoperable. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. A failure mileage was not available. Invalid VIN Wires going from junction box up front of trailer were pinched and cut by diamond plate on front. Cause all lights to be in op from no power going to any of the exterior light system safety issue.

The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Received a recall letter for my travel trailer in August 2021 which states: Two-stage propane regulators on recreational vehicles may supply elevated, intermittent or low propane pressure to the appliances due to a second stage valve seat that can fail to regulate propane flow and pressure. An increase in propane pressure could cause the flame of the appliance to become larger, and under certain rare circumstances, may ignite adjacent materials resulting in a fire. Also, an increase in propane pressure would also cause the regulator to vent propane continuously thought he pressure relief valve. In an enclosed area or under certain conditions, the vented propane could accumulate at the front of the recreational vehicle and if ignited could result in a fire or explosion. Called the dealer to have the recall taken care of and was placed on a waiting list. Over 3 months have already passed and they have not reached out to me on this matter. I called today 12/1/21 to follow up and was told they've ordered 319 kits to have the recalls repaired but they've only received 12 kits so far. Dealer has not offered to have my trailer inspected. I am afraid this will never be taken care of and I might not be able to use my trailer until the issue is fixed. Please help me!

THE CONTACT JUST BOUGHT THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THE OUTDOOR LIGHTING FLICKERED AND THE SOUND SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED, INDICATING A POSSIBLE ELECTRICAL FAILURE. THE CONTACT CALLED THE WARRANTY COMPANY, BUT THEY REFUSED TO SEND FOR THE VEHICLE TO BE SERVICED. FURTHERMORE, THE CONTACT WAS USING THE RV AS A LIVE-IN VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BY PHONE AND E-MAIL, BUT THE CONTACT HAD NOT RECEIVED A RESPONSE. THE DEALER (TAMPA RV, 4656 MCINTOSH RD, DOVER, FL 33527, (813) 659-0008) WAS ALSO CONTACTED, BUT HAD NOT CALLED BACK. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.

THE CONTACT CALLED JAYCO CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-800-283-8267 AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE WIRING FOR THE TRAILER WAS ON BACKORDER ACROSS THE NATION, AND THE CONTACT WOULD JUST HAVE TO WAIT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE HAS BEEN WITHOUT THE TRAILER FOR TWO WEEKS DUE TO THE WIRING HARNESS RECALL. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THERE WAS NO MILEAGE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRAILER WAS SITTING AT CAMPING WORLD OF BAKERSFIELD (5500 WIBLE RD, BAKERSFIELD, CA 93313, (888) 409-0053). THE DEALER DID NOT KNOW HOW LONG IT WOULD BE BEFORE PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT CALLED JAYCO AND WAS INFORMED THAT PARTS WERE ON BACKORDER ACROSS THE U.S. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
