“Fuel injector went bad causing vehicle engine to misfire and shake rapidly. Check engine light is on. The vehicle only has 40,000 miles on it. Seems to be a very common concern for this make and model and roughly the same years. Will not accelerate instantly and will surge a bit when it does. Will still shake when the vehicle is idle.”

The windshield wipers were set to auto during a torrential downpour. When they increased to a high speed of wiping, we heard a large crack and the windshield wiper had completely broke on us. We were going around 45 MPH on a highway and were 1 hour away from our destination. We had little to no visibility for the remainder of the car ride as it continued to downpour and was the most terrifying drive. We went to Dick Hannah's in Portland, OR to get it fixed. My fiance, who is an automotive engineer, told them what he believed happened; something in the arm itself has malfunctioned or misaligned to cause this. The dealership claimed it was the windshield wipers that caused them to break. I had purchased the car from carmax a few months prior, so they told us it wasn't covered. We went back and forth as we were certain it wasn't the wipers, but took their word for it. They "fixed it". Then, it happened for the second time. I was driving 55 MPH on the freeway while it was down-pouring and again, while set to auto, the wipers broke. It's hard not to panic. I immediately turned off the wipers before more damage could happen and lost visibility completely, causing more panic. I tried to switch it to low to get some visibility and took the next exit I could. I never made it to my destination and drove home instead on inside roads just in case. I don't understand how this isn't a recall. It has put us in such dangerous situations. High-speed highways/freeways, downpours, and no visibi

Forward Collision Avoidance › Warnings

Approximately one week after having my oil changed at a Hyundai dealership, I began experiencing intermittent collision safety alerts and multiple dashboard warning lights. On three separate occasions when I started the vehicle, warnings appeared for the forward and rear collision systems, along with multiple other sensor warnings and engine warning lights. During one incident while driving in traffic, the forward collision warning activated and the vehicle abruptly applied the brakes. I was nearly rear-ended as a result. I have taken the vehicle back to the dealership on two separate occasions. The dealership reported replacing a sensor, but the warning lights and collision system issues have continued to occur intermittently. I am concerned that the vehicle may unexpectedly apply the brakes again, creating a risk of a collision.

On three occasions my car suddenly stopped transferring power by not accelerating when the gas pedal was pressed. The first time the engine light came on and when I brought it for service they said it was a sensor covered by warranty and repaired it. The second time it happened while I was trying to merge with traffic on the highway. I took an exit and managed to get to the dealer. They replaced the fuel injector and fuel line. The third time, first the car struggled to start after work. Then, I was pulling out of the parking lot, crossing a very busy road. The car could barely get up to and past 20 mph. Once I got it to 35 or so, I stayed on local roads with my hazards on, and managed to get it to the dealer. No engine light came on and they haven’t been able to replicate the issue. This is a very serious safety concern! I am afraid to drive it now since the car can stop without warning and without any brake lights coming on. I am fully covered by warranty but am worried they won’t want to cover the cost to make my vehicle safe. Google shows engine problems like this as one of the known issues on the 2022 Tucson Limited.

My car suddenly broke down on the side of a busy highway halfway through my workday. When attempting to restart it, all warning lights came on on the dashboard and I could see white smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe while the car shook. I had it towed to the nearest Hyundai dealership and they confirmed it was broken fuel injector(s). I do not have the broken piece to show as it is with the dealership. It has not been examined by police or insurance. No warning lights came on until after the car had suddenly slowed to a stop and I attempted to restart it.

Traffic slowed and the vehicle suddenly returned to normal (no warning lights appeared) and I drove home cautiously with hazards on. When attempting to leave less than 45 minutes later, the vehicle started, then as I placed it into drive, it began lunging and the check engine light appeared. Because it was running rough and kept lunging, I parked and had it towed to the dealership. The DTC code listed was PO30300 (DTC system powertrain and subsystem EMS). In August 2026 (30,923 miles), with less than 1,000 miles driven since repair, I started the vehicle and it immediately “died”. On August 26, 2026, while driving to work, my 2022 Hyundai Tucson unexpectedly lost power and shut down while the vehicle was being driven. This created a serious safety concern because the vehicle became inoperable while in traffic. This vehicle has had a history of repeated problems and has been taken to Hyundai dealerships for repairs on numerous occasions. Despite these previous dealership visits and repair attempts, the vehicle continues to experience problems. The latest incident, in which the vehicle shut down while being driven, has significantly increased my concern regarding the safety and reliability of the vehicle. The vehicle is being made available for inspection and diagnosis. At this time, the exact component or cause of the failure is unknown. I am requesting that this complaint be documented because of the sudden loss of power while driving and the vehicle's history of repeated dealership visits and repairs. I am concerned that this condition could cause a crash if the vehicle unexpectedly loses power again while traveling in traffic or at highway speeds.

My wife was driving my SUV while I was a passenger. We were in the left lane, and put the left turn signal on while traveling south bound approaching an intersection to take a left turn (traveling approximately 3-5 Miles Per Hour and slowing) at the traffic light (traffic light was green). There was a car in front of us that had stopped waiting for oncoming traffic to clear and make the same left turn onto the same road as us. While traveling in this lane we hit a deep pot hole (not very visible while driving), just as we were approaching the vehicle stopped in front of us. When hitting the pot hole, our SUV seemed to leap forward a bit and when the brakes were applied to slow and stop, the braking system failed (appeared to freeze) and the brakes did not work, and because the braking didn’t work, our vehicle hit the car in front of us. Prior to and after hitting the pothole, no audible warning sounds or visible alerts appeared and no emergency braking was activated. The airbags in our vehicle never deployed. Our safety (my wife and I) as well as the safety of the 2 passengers in the other vehicle were at risk as we all could have been injured in the accident. As we needed the vehicle for transportation, we immediately began filing all the necessary police and insurance reports and brought our vehicle into an Auto Body Repair Shop to be repaired the next day. The dealer had cleared the check engine warning light approximately 15-16 times. The vehicle occasionally stalled while driving at various speeds. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle with terminal engine failure. The contact was informed that the fuel system needed to be overhauled, and the fuel injectors and caps needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired twice. The failure persisted after the contact had confirmed the diagnosis with a certified mechanic. The vehicle was returned to the dealer, who replaced the engine. The vehicle was parked for several hours, and the contact attempted to turn on the headlights, but the headlights failed to illuminate. While driving the vehicle, the vehicle hesitated several times. The following day, the vehicle failed to start approximately four times. The vehicle was driven to the dealer but hesitated several times along the way and failed to start once at the dealer. While driving at night, the headlights on my 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid shut off randomly, including when using the turn signal. The lights will turn off without warning at highway speeds, creating a serious safety hazard. Using the turn signal can cause the headlights to turn off, and sometimes using the turn signal will temporarily turn them back on. The headlight mode also changes by itself while driving (AUTO to OFF to ON to OFF). Additionally, when the vehicle is turned off, the headlights often stay on no matter what mode the switch is in. I have to restart the vehicle and manipulate the turn signal/headlight stalk multiple times to get the lights to turn off. This is a recurring and dangerous failure that affects nighttime visibility and safety for me and my family. No other electrical issues are present. This is available for inspection. Safety for my family and all others on the road put at risk as the headlights randomly shut off at night. The problem was reproduced by the dealer. The dealer quoted a $1,500 repair, but this a safety‑critical defect in the lighting control system.

There were no vehicles in front of or behind me for a quarter mile or so. I as all alone with nothing around me. All of a sudden it seemed like the collision avoidance system activated. The car came to a complete stop in the right lane of the highway. I tried to proceed and could see the emergency brake was on, the engine was running the car was in drive but it would not move. Flipped on the hazard flashers and traffic caught up to me while sitting in the right lane of the highway waiting to get rear ended. Vehicles were barely getting by at 70 MPH. I turned the engine off went out to inspect all the forward sensors. There was no visible issue. I restarted the car after a minute or so and it proceeded normally. That was Saturday, this is Sunday, I am taking the vehicle to Hundai tomorrow for inspection.
On July 24, 2026, while driving on a marked city street with no vehicle, pedestrian, or obstruction ahead, the Forward Collision-Avoidance system on our 2022 Hyundai Tucson Limited AWD applied emergency braking on its own, three to four separate times, each lasting one to two seconds. Traffic behind us nearly struck our vehicle. My family was in the car. This is the latest event in a progressive electrical fault history. In June 2025, under warranty at 48,037 miles, a Hyundai dealer documented recurring multi-system warning cascades (forward safety, lane keeping, high beam assist, speed limit warning) and a failed auto start/stop system. The dealer's listed resolution was "battery voltage / replace battery"; their invoice records that no repair was performed. We replaced the battery at our own expense. The faults continued. In June 2026, the start/stop system shut the engine off at a red light and the vehicle would not restart, leaving us disabled in a live traffic lane. Power was only restored by cycling the hood release. Since then, TCM and ECU software updates and a battery harness replacement (our expense, approx. $1,200) have been performed. The faults persisted after these repairs and have now escalated to uncommanded emergency braking. Date- and time-stamped video and photographs exist for multiple events. Two Hyundai dealerships have not identified a root cause. Similar phantom braking reports exist from other owners of this model year. We no longer consider the vehic

Given that a brake failure of this kind poses an immediate risk to my safety and the safety of others on the road, I had the vehicle towed in for service right away. I took the vehicle to Courtesy Hyundai of Tampa (3810 W Hillsborough Ave, Tampa, FL 33614) on Monday, XXX (Repair Order #XXX). I became aware of a Technical Service Bulletin that Hyundai published in Jan 2025 acknowledging that many vehicles (of which mine is one) have a faulty fuel injector and it will fail. Hyundai elected to not issue a recall on this issue so the public has no idea they are driving vehicles that are just awaiting for a malfunction in their engine. It appears the reason Hyundai is doing this is because fuel injectors are only covered on the manufacturer’s limited 5-year 60,000-mile warranty so they are hoping the faulty injectors last long enough to get beyond that point and customers don’t know the injectors were even faulty to begin with (because TSBs are not public knowledge). Hyundai can then charge for full repairs and omit admittance that the injectors were faulty and blame it on wear and tear. Mine failed beyond 60,000 miles and I am in this predicament. I imagine most customers with 2022 vehicles have not driven as much as me and haven’t had this come up. It seemed like something I should inform someone about. Do with this what you wish

The air bags did not inflate and we were not hit from behind, but we could have been severely injured or killed. There are numerous "phantom braking" reports like this here on the NHTSA site for the 2022 model as well as more recent models. Yet Hyundai has only issued recalls for the 2025 and 2026 models. My 2022 Hyundai Tucson Experience, a sudden transmission failure at approximately 92,520 miles. The vehicle develop shifting issues and abnormal noises before losing propulsión. While driving. Hyundai diagnosed and internal Transmission failure and approved transmission replacement. I’m concerned about the sudden loss of proportion and the safety risk this creates. Hyundai proposed repair is to replace the transmission with a rebuild remanufacture transmission rather than a new transmission. I am concerned about the reliability of the repair following a complete transmission failure.

I am submitting this complaint regarding my 2022 Hyundai Tucson equipped with the 2.5L engine. The vehicle has experienced multiple incidents of severe engine misfiring while driving. During these events, the engine begins to shake violently, the entire vehicle vibrates, and engine power is significantly reduced. The vehicle becomes unable to accelerate normally, creating a serious safety hazard, especially when driving on highways or in traffic. The malfunction has occurred several times. Diagnostic trouble codes P0302 and P0303 have been recorded, indicating cylinder misfires. In some cases, turning the engine off and restarting it temporarily restores normal operation. On other occasions, adding fuel system cleaner appeared to temporarily improve the condition. However, the problem eventually returns. Because the condition is intermittent, the Hyundai dealership has been unable to reproduce the failure during inspection and therefore has not performed a repair under warranty. Despite multiple visits, the root cause remains unidentified. I am concerned that the sudden loss of power and severe engine vibration could result in an accident if the vehicle is unable to maintain speed or accelerate while traveling at highway speeds. This issue has significantly affected the safe operation of the vehicle. I request that this matter be investigated, as it appears to be a recurring safety-related defect.

About once a month on average my Tucson's emergency system braking comes on without an emergency. It seems to occur mostly when taking an exit on the highway, but a few times it has been completely random. All of these instances have had no other vehicles around or any roadway barriers present. When it activated, lighting comes up on my dash telling me the emergency braking is activating. Sometimes it brakes, other times it does not seem to. Mostly, it seems that if I keep pressing down on the gas pedal it just turns itself off. I've never had my car come to a complete start but I have had it hit the brakes hard a few times. I bought the vehicle brand new and have had it for 4.5 years, and it has always done this. I've had the dealership reinstall the software that controls the braking system, but it had no affect. I ask the dealer every time I go in if others are complaining about this and I am always told no. However, I saw a similar recall was just put into place for the newer years of the Tucson, and it makes me think they are told to tell people no one is complaining about this.

I have experienced the Emergency Braking System Warning and Sudden Application of my Brakes when traveling at highway speeds for what seems to be no apparent reason. I thought it had to be a glitch related to just my car; However, this has happened twice in the past month and it is an unnerving experience. As I just read about this same problem occurring in later models of my car I want to document that this same problem exists in my 2022 Hyundai Tucson.

Unintended acceleration, brakes unable to stop vehicle. Almost hit a car stopped at red light. I was able steer right avoiding hitting the stopped car and quickly put the car in neutral and then applied the brakes again. I was able to drive home another 10 miles. I had the car towed on 5/18/2026 to the car dealership for inspection. This put the car stopped and me and my wife at risk of injury. Car dealership has inspected the car and can not duplicate the problem. No warning lights before the event.

1st Incident: Merging on to the freeway car started to stall but was able to safely make it off the freeway at next exit. Less than 2 miles was unable to accelerate to properly merge on freeway. A slow merge & slow driving on to a freeway is extremely dangerous. 2nd Incident: 6 months later, Nov. 2023. Driving about 65-70 MPH on the freeway with my son, the car started to stall again. I was able to safely move from the 2nd lane, to the shoulder. Waited over 2 hours in the dark for AAA to safely move us. 1st time documented issues with Hyundai dealership. Fuel injector was main issue and was replaced. No check eng light. 3rd Incident: May 2024 was driving about 75MPH in the fast lane when the car stalled. I was unable to move fully out of the lane as the car just died. I was half in the shoulder and the fast lane. I was crying with fear while I had to wait for CHP to move me. Multiple times feared other cars would hit me at 80MPH+ while I waited 30mins+ for CHP to stop traffic and move me to the shoulder. Took the car to the dealership for the second time to be "fixed" for the same issue as Nov. 2023. Fuel injector, and catalytic converter were "replaced". This now being the second time for the fuel injector issue. No check eng light. 4th Incident: April 2026 driving on a school night home from dinner with my son at about 9:45pm. I PURCHASED THIS 2022 TUCSON LIMITED HYUNDAI NEW. IT HAS 25,000 MILES ON IT. THE CAR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND A POWER REDUCTION BEGAN ALONG WITH SHAKING OF THE CAR. I WAS ABLE TO CLEAR THE INTERSECTION SAFELY. I WAS ABLE TO TURN INTO A SAFE SPOT AND SHUT DOWN THE CAR. IT WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO THEN INFORMED ME THAT IT WAS AN INJECTOR KNOW ISSUE FOR THIS YEAR AND WOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE 5 YEAR WARRANTY. HOWEVER, AS THIS IS A ENGINE/POWERTRAIN PROBLEM, IT SHOULD BE COVERED ON THE 100,000/TEN YEAR WARRANTY. A TSB (23-FL-002H-1) ALERT HAD ALREADY BEEN ISSUED, BUT NOT A RECALL. MANY OWNERS HAVE REPORTED HAVING THIS PROBLEM REPEATEDLY, AS A SAFETY ISSUE AND A KNOWN MFG DEFECT. WHEN IS THE GOVERNMENT GOING TO STEP UP AND DEMAND A REAL FIX BE DONE BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED? OWNER ARE CURRENT LEFT FIGHTING WITH THE DEALERS OVER THE WARRANTY LIMITS OR TAKING LEGAL ACTION. IF YOU GOOGLE THIS PROBLEM, YOU CAN FIND OUT THE NATIONAL LEVEL OF THIS PROBLEM, FROM ACCIDENTS WHICH CAUSED FIRES OR ACCIDENTS FROM POWER LOSS. MY CAR IS STILL AT THE DEALER WAITING ON PARTS. ITS TIME TO FORCE A RECALL! I WILL BE DEMANDING THAT IT IS COVERED FOR THE 10 YEAR WARRANTY PERIOD AND CONSIDERING TAKING ACTION UNDER THE LEMON LAWS. IF THE GOVERNMENT FAILS TO ACT ON THIS SOON, THAN THEY ARE JUST AS LIBEL AS THE MANUFACTURER. YOUR IMMEDIATE ATTENTION TO THIS ISSUES IS REQUESTED.

When braking my 2022 Hyundai Tucson to come to a stop, the vehicle continues to accelerate. I have to release the brake and re-apply the brake to fix the acceleration problem. I check the internet on this problem. They internet says it is a software problem. The vehicle shows no code and the dealer says they don't have a problem. The dealer has not check for the problem since there is no code. No warning lamps or messages show up on dash. This happened 4 times in the last few months. Latest date was 4-4-2026

The car is dead if you do not drive it every 4 days. The battery and system have no power. It has happened multiple times over the past year. Have taken the car to Castle Hyundai of Downers Grove, IL. To date no resolution has been reached wh6 my car looses power. The dealer ran computer checks. Verified the battery had to be reset multiple times. Could not identify any issues with battery or hev system. Contacted Hyundai. Support stated their technical specialist conclusion waste make sure i drive the car for a half hour every other day. That was their "resolution". A car should be able to sit in a garage under normal temperatures for longer than 4 days without the battery system being dead for unknown reasons. The car is unreliable and does not meet safety standards as if they don't know why it's battery system is dead if it sits what to say it won't happen when I am driving down the highway.

Reading this record
Complaint volume is well above typical for a single model year.
Complaint counts track how many cars were sold and how long they have been on the road as much as they track quality. A common model from 2013 has had a decade to accumulate reports; a rare one from last year has not. The signal worth weighing is in the severity columns, in whether the same component keeps appearing, and in whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
Recall repairs are free for as long as the recall stands. Check whether a specific car still has open work at NHTSA's VIN lookup.
Most recent recall on file: Dec 18, 2025. Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation.
