I am writing to file a complaint for the "consider taking a break" alert. I am a competent driver and yet my new Hyundai consistently alerts me on almost every drive that I need to take a break. It's problematic because it's ironically very distracting. It's not a feature that can be turned off and I think it needs to be optional.

The contact's daughter owns a 2025 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that his daughter had experienced sudden, unintended braking on three separate occasions while driving at various speeds. The contact stated that the failure occurred after slightly depressing the brake pedal, and the brake pedal went to the floorboard, and the vehicle came to an abrupt stop. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle resumed normal operation shortly afterwards. The driver manually deactivated the Forward Collision Avoidance system at each startup, but the failure persisted. The contact's daughter then received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V316000 (Forward Collision Avoidance), and the software update was performed at the dealer. The failure reoccurred after the software update was performed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact back to the dealer. The vehicle remained with the dealer for an extended period. The technicians at the dealer failed to reproduce the issue and deemed the vehicle safe to drive. The contact stated that his daughter refused to take possession of the vehicle and felt that the vehicle was unsafe to drive. The failure mileage was approximately 7,000.

Two instances of the center screen malfunctioning. One was an intermittent blip of the screen turning black and then turning back on while driving. Additionally, during this same instance of the intermittent blip of the screen turning off for about 3 seconds, my headlights which are set to auto also turned off while I was driving at night and then blipped back on when the screen came back at the same time. Second instance, the center screen was black and never came on when the car was initially turned on and the screen remained black for the entirety of my drive until the car was fully turned off and then back on. Yes, this is available for inspection upon request. Safety was put at risk by losing headlight visibility at night highly increasing the chances of an accident as well as losing important carplay navigational directions on center screen. Problem has been reproduced as these issues both occurred within one week (the week of August 16-23, 2026). The vehicle has not been inspected. During the time of both events there were no warning lamps or messages that appeared.

The instrument cluster malfunctioned suddenly leaving the control panel completely black (no odometer, speedometer, speed range, turn signal indicators, etc.). The driver was therefore unable to know what speed they were driving, how much fuel remained, and lacked any sort of signal that turn signals/blinkers were on or off. It was unsafe to drive and impossible to accurately comply with legal speed limits. Local Hyundai dealership inspected the car and confirmed that the cluster had to be replaced, which they did (required 11 total days of being unable to use the car).

My 2025 Hyundai Tucson (VIN [XXX]) has been out of service since [XXX] (over 60 days) at CMA’s Colonial Hyundai in South Chesterfield, Virginia, waiting for a front camera related to safety Recall 302 (NHTSA Campaign 26V316 – Front View Camera FCA Update). The dealership previously replaced the front camera, but the issue was not resolved. They then ordered a new camera that remains on backorder with no firm ETA. I have been provided a rental during this time. Hyundai assigned Case #[XXX]. I have provided formal written notice under Virginia lemon law demanding a buyback because the vehicle has been out of service far beyond the 30-day threshold. The safety-related defect remains unrepaired. COMPONENT: Infotainment main display screen. Still installed and available for inspection. FAILURE: The screen intermittently flickers, then goes blank with static. Occurs at unpredictable intervals including while driving. Ongoing and unrepaired. SAFETY RISK: The display is centered in the dashboard and houses the backup camera and vehicle controls. Flickering and static while driving creates a visual distraction, and the backup camera is unavailable when the screen goes blank. The malfunction now occurs often enough that it interferes with normal driving. REPRODUCED BY DEALER: Not reproduced during any service visit. Reported to three Hyundai dealerships: Pedder Hyundai, San Diego (May 2025): could not replicate, but accepted my video evidence and ordered parts. I relocated before the repair was completed. Hyundai Mountain View, CA ([XXX]): could not replicate. Declined to perform a diagnostic or open a warranty claim despite the same video evidence. Stevens Creek Hyundai, Santa Clara (Invoice [XXX], Aug 18-20 2026): road tested, unable to verify. Found stored code c2a2397, history in front camera menu. Infotainment software at current level. Road tested 94 miles without recurrence. Technician wrote: "If issue re-occurs, we recommend returning the vehicle to us for further diagnosis." No cause identified, no repair performed. Charged $315. I have provided video of the screen failing while driving to the dealerships and to Hyundai Motor America. INSPECTED BY MANUFACTURER: In

Visibility/Wiper

The windshield wipers will only go up once they have fully gone down all the way. Therefore, when snow (or something else) gets stuck below the windshield wipers while they are in use, they cannot go all the way down, and they will therefore not go back up again. The wipers become inoperable while trying to complete their cycle, and stay stuck in place creating extremely unsafe conditions. This incident occurred numerous times while in the snow, where a large chunk of snow or ice prevented the wipers from going all the way down, and the wipers would not work to remove additional falling snow until I pulled over and cleared the area below the wipers. I contacted HyundaiUSA and they said I had to go to dealer to address this issue, but the problem is not a manufacturing problem or broken part with my car, it is a design flaw that significantly impacts safety.

The vehicle was equipped with the original factory-installed 235/60R18 tires. The tire failed suddenly while the vehicle was being driven, creating a significant safety concern and potential loss of vehicle control. No injuries were reported. I went to the location to assist. Initially, I believed the damage was limited to the tire. The damaged tire was replaced so the vehicle could be driven safely, and the tires were subsequently replaced at a tire shop. After the incident, an unusual and persistent noise developed from the front driver’s-side area. Because the noise continued after the tire replacement, the vehicle was taken to a repair facility for further inspection. The vehicle is currently at the repair facility, and I am waiting for the inspection and repair findings. I do not yet have the mechanic’s final diagnosis regarding the source of the noise or whether there is additional mechanical damage. The front driver’s-side wheel/rim also sustained visible scratches and damage during the incident. I have photographs do

My 2025 Hyundai Tucson required the front brake rotors to be resurfaced at approximately 12,200 miles. The Hyundai dealership diagnosed the rotors as overheated and warped, despite the brake pads being in good condition. The repair occurred before Hyundai issued Recall 302 (NHTSA Recall 26V-316). Hyundai Recall 302 identifies a defect in the Forward Collision-Avoidance (FCA) system’s front-camera software that can cause the FCA system to engage earlier than expected and potentially result in sudden braking. Hyundai’s FCA system is capable of automatically applying the brakes. I am concerned that premature or unintended brake application associated with this recalled software condition may have contributed to excessive brake heat and premature overheating/warping of my front rotors. I am NOT claiming that this causal relationship has been established. Rather, I am reporting a potential safety defect and asking NHTSA to evaluate whether there may be a relationship. The dealership confirmed that the rotors were overheated/warped but characterized the condition as wear and tear. Hyundai Motor America subsequently denied my reimbursement request on the same basis. I have repeatedly asked Hyundai to evaluate whether Recall 302 could have contributed to the brake condition, but Hyundai has not acknowledged or technically addressed this potential relationship. The original rotors are no longer available for inspection because they were resurfaced during the repair. The dealership per

The contact owns a 2025 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the Forward Collision Avoidance Assist (FCA) warning light was intermittently illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure and attributed the issue to inclement weather. The contact stated that while stopped, the vehicle was rear-ended because the brake lights failed to illuminate. The contact sustained lower back and shoulder injuries, was transported by ambulance to the hospital, and required ongoing injection treatments. A Police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a dealer and repaired for rear-end and passenger-side damages; however, the cause of the brake lights' failure was not determined. Additionally, the contact stated that while attempting to accelerate from a complete stop at a traffic light, the vehicle stalled and was struck on the front driver's side by another vehicle. The crash caused the vehicle to spin, and the front end detached. The air bags failed to deploy, and a system failure message was displayed. The contact sought medical attention the following day. The contact sustained a dislodged left thumb bone which required surgery, a cast, and injections for left arm pain, as well as shoulder, neck, hip, and aggravated lower back pain. A Police report was filed. The second failure had occurred at [XXX]. The vehicle was towed to the auto body shop at the dealer and repaired; however, neither the dealer nor the insurance adjuster determined the cause

This is not the first situation NOR the first time it is being "fixed". I took my car in early March for an oil change and informed the representative about the same thing. The time that made me say something is when I was switching lanes and the car must have sensed me being close causing me to stop completely and the car behind me having to hard break and swerve. Rick Case Hyundai in Duluth, Georgia had my car for a MONTH, just for me to experience the same thing over 3 times since then. I received my car in April, and the recall for this wasn't put out until May. I am constantly scared for my life and the passengers I may have lives, as well as the other drivers lives, considering I got this car due to being in a rear end collision. When I took it in April, they CONSTANTLY, drove my car to diagnose it but kept telling me they didn't see the problem, and it wasn't coming up for them on their internal tracking system for their cars(webDCS). Once they finally talked to the CORPORATE field technician, they advised they replace the whole front bumper, including sensors, for the solution. But like stated before, since then I have experienced near crash stops AT LEAST 3 times since then, two of them being in the same month (July 16 and July 28). If this is the same solution, I don't see it being beneficial and I would like to be bought out at this point. Especially if I have to be without my car for a long period of time again.

I lease a 2025 Hyundai Tucson SEL. This vehicle has experienced repeated electrical and safety system malfunctions. Display/infotainment failure: The center display has shut off while driving on at least 10-15 separate occasions. This has occurred while I was actively using CarPlay for navigation in an unfamiliar area, causing loss of directions while driving. Forward collision/automatic emergency braking (AEB) malfunction: The AEB system engaged unexpectedly and unpredictably while I was driving on the highway, causing the vehicle to brake suddenly. This resulted in another vehicle rear-ending me. This occurred while I was driving home from a doctor's appointment. I understand this vehicle/system was subject to a manufacturer recall related to this issue. AEB failure to engage when needed: On a separate occasion, while I was backing out of a parking spot, the emergency braking system did not engage or respond when needed, and I narrowly avoided being struck (T-boned) by another vehicle. Warning system malfunction after repair: Following the highway incident, I brought the vehicle to an authorized Hyundai dealer, who performed a front safety system software update. Approximately two days later, while driving on the highway, a dashboard warning appeared related to the front safety system. This warning disabled cruise control and other related features. Dealer inspection/dispute: I brought the vehicle back

I bought my car in for recalls and they performed service. I got down the road when the HUD started going out over bumps. They could not duplicate it when I bought it back after picking it up. This was yesterday 7/16/26. They have had this car for a total of 18 days not including other issues that I have bought it in for. Today I am having issues with the instrument cluster and HUD going out randomly over bumps still. This is exactly what I explained when dropping it for the repair. This is resulting in me not being able to read the instrument cluster since it displays no signal on cluster or goes completely black.

I have had nothing but trouble with software issues since the very first recall (software related) on my vehicle, just a few months after I purchased it. I have had a very difficult time having Hyundai address these issues, and recently opened my third case with Hyundai. The issue: On 6/24/26 Peddar Hyundai conducted the software update for the recall regarding the front collision system. Later in the day on 6/24/26 and in the days following, whenever I turned on the car, Googlemaps would automatically pop up on the infotainment screen, the car’s navigation voice (not the googleMaps voice) would instruct me to turn right or left, etc. throughout the drive, despite no route being set. I have a video of this occurring. MOST CONCERNING: 6/25/26 I was pulling out of a parking lot, with no other cars or obstacles in my path, going slowly, and the automatic braking system ground the car to a stop. There was no warning on the dash. It took a few seconds before the car would allow me to accelerate. This is the very problem the software update was supposed to fix. 7/2/26 I was using GoogleMaps navigation at night and as I was driving, the infotainment system went blank and I had no navigation. After a minute or so the map came back on, but it was just spinning in circles and couldn’t right itself. Additional issues: the infotainment system randomly keeps popping up the question, asking if I want to open Google Maps. Sometimes when using the parking camera, an informational window keep

Complaint volume is well above typical for a single model year.

Complaint counts track how many cars were sold and how long they have been on the road as much as they track quality. A common model from 2013 has had a decade to accumulate reports; a rare one from last year has not. The signal worth weighing is in the severity columns, in whether the same component keeps appearing, and in whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.

Recall repairs are free for as long as the recall stands. Check whether a specific car still has open work at NHTSA's VIN lookup.
