Defect. American Honda Motor Company (Honda) is recalling certain 2024-2025 Honda Prologue and 2024 Acura ZDX vehicles. The rearview camera screen may display a distorted or blank image.

Risk. A rearview image that does not display correctly reduces the driver's view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.

Remedy. Dealers will replace the rearview camera, free of charge. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed July 7, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the remedy is available, anticipated in late 2026. Owners may contact Honda's customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are DO5 and RO6. The information in your report suggests that Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) may have been aware of this issue more than five business days before filing a report with NHTSA. Defect. Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2024 Acura ZDX and Prologue vehicles. Due to a software error, the instrument panel display may fail. Additionally, a software error may cause the rearview camera to display a blank screen when the vehicle is in reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) numbers 101, "Control and Displays," 111, "Rear Visibility," and 305, "Electric-Powered Vehicles."

Risk. An instrument panel display that fails to show critical safety information, such as the speedometer or warning lights, increases the risk of a crash or injury. Additionally, the loss of the rearview camera image can reduce the driver's rear visibility, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.

Remedy. Dealers will update the vehicle radio control module software, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed April 22, 2026. Owners may contact Honda's customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are TNL and XNK. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning March 4, 2026.

I purchased my 2024 Honda Prologue on [XXX]. On [XXX], I opened a case with American Honda because the vehicle has an open rearview camera safety recall, NHTSA Recall 26V-306 / Honda Recall D05. Since then, I have repeatedly contacted American Honda and several authorized Honda dealerships trying to get the recall repaired. I have spent weeks calling representatives, speaking with case managers, contacting dealerships myself, and trying to understand who is responsible for providing the replacement camera. I have received conflicting information and very little clear assistance. On [XXX], Future Honda in Citrus Heights inspected the vehicle. Their repair order states: “SAFETY RECALL CAMPAIGN: REAR VIEW CAMERA - REPLACE.” The rearview camera was not functioning at the time, and the dealership told me the replacement camera had to be requested or ordered through Honda. Future Honda later told me the request had been submitted and they were waiting for the part. On [XXX], an American Honda representative left me a voicemail stating she had contacted the dealer, confirmed the part was ordered, and that I needed to continue waiting for it to arrive. As of October 25, 2026, the recall remains incomplete. I still have no repair, estimated delivery date, shipping information, or confirmation that a camera has been allocated to my vehicle. The Prologue has recently begun making clicking noises when turning the vehicle left or right. I have concerns about steering and control of the vehicle.

Seat belt malfunctioned and I could not release my daughter from it. It kept on getting tighter and tighter, started to cause respiratory compromise and I had no choice but to cut the belt to release her.

My 2024 Honda Prologue Touring AWD has repeatedly displayed a “Service High Voltage System” warning. During a recent repair, Heritage Honda of Westminster explained that an A/C refrigerant leak reduced the system’s ability to cool the high-voltage battery and caused the vehicle to enter protection mode. The dealership replaced leaking A/C seals and recharged the refrigerant. After charging the battery, the check-engine light came on. The dealership contacted Honda Technical Support and installed a software update. I picked up the vehicle on XXX, after these repairs. That same night, the “Service High Voltage System” warning returned. I have a photograph documenting the warning and have notified the dealership. I am concerned that the underlying problem remains unresolved and could affect battery cooling or vehicle operation while driving. I have asked the dealership whether the vehicle is safe to drive or charge. Bad CV axles, clicking noise progressively getting worse starting at 5k miles exacerbated by 20k miles. Causes bad alignment, uneven tire wear and a shaky ride.

Braking system failed to function when backing up in the dark and caused me to hit a small tree which caused body damage to my vehicle.

Clicking noise from front axle. Both front axles were replaced under warranty.

The contact stated that while the vehicle was in Reverse (R), the rearview camera displayed a blank screen. The dealer was contacted. The contact stated the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure by telephone. The failure mileage was approximately 16,000.

The contact owns a 2024 Honda Prologue. The contact received a safety recall notification for NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V306000 (Back Over Prevention); however, the part required for the repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the failure was actively occurring, with the rearview camera displaying an intermittent and brief image. Additionally, the contact stated that the rubber weatherstripping seals for all doors, windows, and the sunroof continually detached. Although the dealer previously replaced the seals, the repairs failed to correct the issue, and the seals continued to detach. Both the manufacturer and a local dealer were notified of the ongoing failures, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was 12,000.

The vehicle makes a "loud clicking/ratcheting noise from the front wheels when making sharp left or right turns even with the turn signal on and/or off. The noise is getting progressively louder. I am concerned a failing CV axle assembly could lead to a loss of vehicle control or unexpected drivetrain failure at higher speeds. My front wheel is leaking grease behind the brakes... Front end of my car has broken 4 times in less than 2 years is this EV gone be a recall?

The center display and instrument cluster on my 2024 Honda Prologue fail intermittently while driving. When the instrument cluster drops out, I lose the speedometer and driver information display. When the center display fails, the backup camera image is unavailable, along with audio and climate information. On July 24th, while driving at approximately 45 mph near Keuka Park with my family in the vehicle, the center display went black. Minutes later, the instrument cluster cut out and recovered three separate times. I recorded video of the display failure and two of the cluster dropouts. The problem began at 868 miles, about three weeks after delivery in April 2025. Dealers replaced the touch screen audio unit in May 2025 and the radio control assembly and infotainment module in June 2025. The problem returned. Honda Recall 26-056 (Meter/Center Display software update) was performed on 5/5/2026, and the dealer technician documented on the repair order that the screen was still flickering and freezing immediately after the recall. A later dealer visit could not duplicate the problem. Failures continue, and I have ongoing video documentation. The recall remedy did not fix this defect. Losing the speedometer and rearview camera while driving is a safety risk. Losing the infotainment screen and rearview camera is almost a daily guarantee at this point.

CV axle makes a very loud clicking noise when turning either right or left. Dealer says there is no recall and they want 190 dollars to diagnose the problem. I mentioned it six months ago to them right after I bought the car and they acknowledged the problem and told me they were waiting to hear from HONDA. The noise has gotten much worse and now they are telling me they want 190 dollars to diagnose the problem.

Every time I turn the wheels it feels like something's about the break there's this loud grinding noise. It can't be just nothing the noise is too severe. Apparently they ordered the par and then it's not the right part because they just keep breaking but something has to be done I have 8,000 miles of warranty left like this is a problem. I've owned many cars and many Hondas in fact I've never heard a noise like this that was not a problem it's a problem. It affects the turning of the vehicle because when you turn your think the wheels are something's about to fall off it's just a grinding noise it's not it makes the turning not smooth.

On the morning of October 6, 2026, approximately 0500 PST, the vehicle displayed a "Service High Voltage System" warning on startup and the estimated range display went blank ("-- mi"). The high-voltage battery system was not delivering power. This appears to be the same defect reported by multiple other 2024 Prologue owners (sudden HV system fault, reduced or no propulsion, loss of charging). It also states battery is low, separate from the HV message. Honda Roadside Assistance will be contacted today and I will request the vehicle be towed to the (a) dealer as the vehicle is not able to move at all nor do I feel safe to operate the vehicle as I am and would be concerned about potential loss of propulsion while driving if this fault occurs at speed.

The pin became bent in the charging port, for no apparent reason causing me high repair costs.

I have been calling Honda of Temecula, Ca since February of this year. I have been calling them monthly to fix my recalls and their response is " I have one to and we do not have the parts and software for the vehicle." I lease this vehicle and still have until December 2027. A recall should be repaired in a timely manner and I am now going on 8 months. I would happily turn in this vehicle for another lease. I have already had the battery replaced, spend countless hours at honda, had rental cars half the size, and been inconvenienced for years now.

While backing up the car abruptly stops Back up. This happens a couple of times when it was slightly raining also when there was nothing behind my vehicle. Honda sent me notification of a backup camera recall. When I took my car for the recall and inspection, I was told the part is on back order. I have just 25k miles on the car and the constant velocity joints are noisy when I turn.

Turning the wheels both forward and backward while moving causes a pinging sound in the CV joint. I have started hearing this noise after 20,000 miles and the noise is getting louder. I am concerned either the axle will give out or the CV joint will break causing an accident.

Thumping noise from front axle had repaired and it just came back a month later. It happens when you are at a slow speed and turning the wheel all the way like when you are parking mostly.

My car has a recall for a defective rareview camera (showing all black). I took it to the dealer 2 months ago and they told me that i have to wait for a camera replacement and that they do not know when the part will be available. This is a major safety issue for me and I am not sure how to expedite the process. Or what are the alternatives as I need a car but do not feel safe driving it. Thanks!

I currently lease a 2024 Honda Prologue, and for the past year, both front axles have been clicking. This is a well-documented problem, and it has been determined that the axles have a build problem and need to be replaced. The clicking sound started off on the left side only when making sharp turns, and now both axles make loud clicking noises all the time. This obviously is unacceptable for a vehicle that I have owned for less than 2 years. I went to Honda and asked them about replacement, and they told me there was no recall and that the axles would not be replaced unless they are leaking (please note that I do not have the ability to check everyday for leaks, as I would assume that is something a mechanic would need to fully investigate). The dealership informed me that the manufacturer does not have new axles built to the point where all cars can have them replaced, and the only thing they can do is to extend the warranty after the 3 years of lease is up, which would make a repair free of charge. This is a moot point, as I am not interested in keeping the car after the lease is up. I believe that the axles have already started to fail, and I am afraid that there could be an accident if the axles completely break down or break apart.This would obviously cause damage to the vehicle and potential harm to myself or to my family. My car started clicking when making left and right turns. I have to replace both CV joints. The symptoms appeared approximately 20k miles.

I was driving a 2024 Honda Prologue Elite and was coming to an ordinary stop at a safe distance behind another car at a red light. With my foot continuously and firmly pressed on the brake pedal, a brake alert/warning appeared on the dashboard screen accompanied by beeping, and the emergency brakes automatically engaged, stopping the car abruptly. Then, almost immediately, the vehicle suddenly lurched forward without warning, striking the vehicle ahead of me. I kept my foot firmly on the brake as the warning, beeping, and auto-brake activated again, and the vehicle lurched forward a second time, again striking the vehicle in front of me. This sequence repeated a third time with the same warning/beeping/braking and lurching pattern, causing a third forward impact. The vehicle came to a stop between each lurch, and at no point did I remove my foot from the brake or touch the accelerator pedal. There were no other witnesses besides the other driver involved, and no police report was filed at the scene. I believe this was caused by a major vehicle malfunction, not driver error. Upon further reflection, I want to note that while I believe I was in the last moment of coming to a complete stop, I had already slowed appropriately and was on track to stop fully, as intended. But because the onset of the malfunction was abrupt and disorienting, I cannot state with certainty whether the vehicle had reached a full stop or was a brief moment away from it when the auto-brake engaged. This car has a problem with the emergency brake system activating when there is nothing in any danger zone. We have owned this car for about a year, and when slowly reversing, we have been repeatedly annoyed by the warning lights & sounds going off & emergency brakes locking the wheels. Each time we check the cameras, mirrors and even get out of the car to look, but there was nothing anywhere near that would trigger such an event. This happened 4-5 times over the past year, and we assumed this was just an ultra-sensitive feature which was annoying and startling when it happened, but generally harmless. Until a similar issue with the brake system happened recently while we were coming to a stop while driving forward, except this time after the warnings went off and brakes locked, the car then shot forward, with my foot still on the brake, and hit the car in front of me. Then it locked up and shot forward again 2 MORE TIMES. I've detailed that event in another complaint on this site, but I wanted to put the original emergency brake problems on the record, in case they end up being related.

We where approaching the ramp to the bridge and our dashboard indicated front camera malfunction - ever since we’ve taken it to the dealer numerous times and the problem has not been resolved. It’s a safety issue. In addition also the cross camera doesn’t work sometimes and the dealer told us they know of this issue.

We were stuck in traffic and out of the blue the emergency brake system engaged, thank goodness no one hit us from behind- there was no reason to break there was no obstacle or any problem front of us

This is my second separate report which I experience with my car. On August of 30th, the car was unable to shift, so it was towed to Andy Mohr dealer to repair. It took 5 days for serviceman to figure out there was a wire issue. So he fixed, so he thought, on the September 9th, the same warning light came on my dashboard. I spent over a thousand dollar just serviceman to diagnose the same problem 3 times, but nothing was fixed. The warning lights are "service transmission unable to shift soon", adaptive cruise unavailable, one-pedal driving unavailable, brake hold unavailable, service emergency brake, service transmission unable to shift and more.

There is a loud clicking noise present when turning the vehicle and accelerating or decelerating at the same time. This noise started around 4000 miles and has gotten progressively worse.

1st Continuous clicking sound from the front axel when trying to turn, its amplifies when taking a uturn. I have complained to Honda service center they said they are not aware of while there is already fix done at different honda service centers. 2nd the Lanes assist doesn't work as a safety feature, it has multiple issues a) it ping pongs between the lanes with sudden moves, b) most of the times at the higher speeds it only warns or tries to correct once at least one of the wheels is in another lane c) with adaptive cruise control on and lane assist not working on any curved road if you are close to the divider or near an exit, it doesn't understand that the car ahead has taken the curve and it should stick in the lane, instead it accelerates and goes of the lane and thats very dangerous.

The car just stopped as I was driving, would not shift gears, and told me “service high voltage system” and “ service battery fault shutting down soon” and turned off. It was on 185 miles left (63%) and went to 0% later on and now won’t charge or turn on. I have screen shots and time stamps of those things

There is a clicking sound when turning right or left which seems the axle is broken. It is still under warranty but the dealer is refusing to fix it saying this breaks on all Prologue cars and they do not have a fix for that

The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked outside in the driveway, unoccupied, suddenly there was a loud explosion, and the vehicle caught on fire. The contact stated that the fire spread to the garage and a vehicle parked nearby. The local fire department arrived on scene to extinguish the fire. The source of the fire remained under investigation. A Police report was filed. The local dealer was contacted. The vehicle and the other vehicle parked nearby were deemed total losses. While driving, the center console and its corresponding section of the instrument cluster will freeze and then completely turn off and become black screens. Then a message stating “the system is restarting” comes on the screen and after a minute or two it will turn back on. This happens at random times in random intervals; I have not been able to detect a pattern in the time between incidents or the amount of driving. My car has already been repaired for the initial federal safety recall of both screens turning off while driving, removing all instrument panel function which I experienced several times before being able to get an appointment for repair. This secondary issue presented after the software repairing the safety recall was put into my car. This began March 2026 and the most recent incident date is listed below (September 2026).

I am experiencing a severe defect involving a recurring clicking and popping noise from the front end of the vehicle when turning at low speeds. This issue is tied to a known premature failure of the front drive axles and constant velocity (CV) joints, which is currently the subject of federal class-action litigation ([XXX], et al. v. American Honda Motor Co., Inc.). The progressive failure of these critical drivetrain components presents an immediate safety risk. Degraded axles and CV joints can lead to sudden loss of propulsion, unexpected steering stiffness, or a complete loss of vehicle control while turning, creating an extreme hazard on public roads. Despite Honda acknowledging this issue internally via a Tech Line Summary Article, the manufacturer has failed to issue a safety recall to replace these defective components with a permanent, structurally sound fix. I am submitting this complaint to urge the NHTSA to open a formal safety investigation into the 2024–2026 Honda Prologue drivetrain assemblies to compel a nationwide safety recall before an axle failure results in an accident. The warning messages pop-up such as "One pedal Driving Unavailable. Use Brake for Stopping", "Auto-hold unavailable", and "adaptive cruise control temporarily unavailable " then parking sign with ranch sign turns on. And all the functions will be disable. I went to Honda dealer to fix the problem, all they said was Parking Brake Actuators. So they replace both left and right rear Brake Actuators. A week later same messages come on and recently I have new additional warning message on Dashboard. "Service Transmission Now Unable to shift soon", I went to honda dealer, of course there is no warning message show up then, so they cannot scan or nothing showed up on the scan. So they suggest that I kept driving until warning light stay on.

Clicking noise from CV axle. I took this to dealership (Mungenast St Louis Honda) multiple times in 2025-2026. Dealership advised that the problem was the CV axle(s), and Honda would not authorize repairs due to pending litigation and reports of current fixes not working

On XXX Me and my son were in [XXX] in one of the basement garages. Parked successfully the first time inching the vehicle forward without issues and stopping as needed. 2nd run, got into parking spot got close and stopped 1 foot away from wall. Attempted to inch forward, lightly and quickly tapping on accelerator to disengage auto hold/brake and move forward but car did not respond. Repeated the action, quickly and lightly tapped again no response, then all of a sudden car lurched forward, I jammed on the brakes with no response and car hit the wall. I have my 2024 Prologue at the Gillman Honda Body Shop and gave instructions to service advisor to pull data from my vehicle. The affected components are the BOTH FRONT DRIVE AXLE/CV JOINT ASSEMBLIES on my 2024 Honda Prologue. This is not merely a suspected problem. After I reported the clicking/popping condition to Honda multiple times, the vehicle was finally inspected by a technician, who determined that BOTH FRONT AXLES WERE BROKEN AND REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. The original clicking/popping was not present when I obtained the vehicle. It developed afterward and progressively worsened, particularly during turns. After Honda replaced both front axle assemblies, the noise returned within a short period of time. The replacement components now exhibit the same condition and the noises are worse than they were with the original axles. Honda has still not provided an effective repair. This creates a serious safety concern because the drive axles/CV joints are critical drivetrain components responsible for transferring power to the wheels while allowing the wheels to turn and move with the suspension. I am concerned about continued deterioration or another axle/CV-joint failure occurring while driving, potentially resulting in loss of propulsion or vehicle control and endangering me, my passengers, and other motorists. The condition has therefore been confirmed by a Honda technician, resulting in replacement of both front axles. Despite that repair, the same problem has returned and worsened. Charging problem, high voltage. Vehicle won’t charge when plugged in. Took it to the dealer and they said they can’t do anything about it.

The digital instrument cluster and infotainment/display system repeatedly FAILS WITHOUT WARNING WHILE I AM DRIVING. The screens suddenly glitch, shut down, or go completely black, causing me to lose access to critical vehicle information. The vehicle remains available for NHTSA or manufacturer inspection upon request. This is an ongoing and unresolved safety defect. I did NOT experience the blank-screen condition before Honda Recall 26-056. The recall specifically addressed a condition that could cause the instrument cluster/infotainment display to intermittently go blank while driving. The recall repair was performed April 13–14, 2026. Within approximately one week AFTER that repair, my screens began randomly shutting off while driving. When the failure occurs, the displays can remain blank for approximately 5–20 seconds. During that time, I unexpectedly lose visibility of critical information, including vehicle speed and warning indications. A driver should never suddenly lose access to essential operating and safety information while a vehicle is moving. The unpredictable failure also creates a serious distraction because I must continue driving without knowing when the displays will return. Honda dealers have made MULTIPLE unsuccessful repair attempts. On April 20–22, the dealer performed a factory-data reset. The failure continued. On May 4–7, the dealer contacted Honda Techline, identified an internal defect involving the A11/radio control module, replaced the module, a

I am reporting a serious safety concern involving my Honda Prologue and believe the repeated failures may indicate an unresolved defect involving the vehicle’s electronic, braking, ABS, propulsion, transmission/shift, or vehicle-control systems. On [XXX], the vehicle first displayed an error/warning. I contacted the Honda dealership in Vancouver, Washington, and was instructed to bring it in for inspection. I was out of town and could not do so immediately. On [XXX], I brought the vehicle to the dealership in the morning. They kept it overnight and returned it to me on [XXX] at approximately 2:00 PM, telling me the problem was a “system glitch” and had been fixed. On [XXX], less than 24 hours later, I was driving home after completing a Lyft ride when the vehicle displayed: “One-Pedal Driving Unavailable – Use Brake for Stopping.” At the same time, the ABS warning and multiple other safety-system warnings illuminated.The vehicle then became immobilized in the middle of an intersection. I was in an unsafe location and had to contact police for assistance. The vehicle remained unable to operate for approximately two hours. I own a Prologue Touring on a lease and it has defective drive axles and every time I brought it to Honda Service Dept they said that Honda said that the will not repair or replace them. When turning the vehicle, a clicking noise can be heard, intermittently. I have reported this to the dealership, they tell me they heard nothing. The car now has 20,000 miles and will need a tire rotation soon, I will then report it again. It appears the cv joint is the problem with many of these 2024 Honda Prologues. I’ve read, that a broken cv joint could cause loss of power, broken brake lines, and loss of control of the car. This clicking occurs mostly on hard turns, which I avoid due to potential damage and loss of control. There are no warning lights seen for this problem.
