2024 Honda Prologue

Defect. American Honda Motor Company (Honda) is recalling certain 2024-2025 Honda Prologue and 2024 Acura ZDX vehicles. The rearview camera screen may display a distorted or blank image.

Risk. A rearview image that does not display correctly reduces the driver's view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.

Remedy. Dealers will replace the rearview camera, free of charge. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed July 7, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the remedy is available, anticipated in late 2026. Owners may contact Honda's customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are DO5 and RO6. The information in your report suggests that Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) may have been aware of this issue more than five business days before filing a report with NHTSA. Please be reminded that under Federal law, this agency is to be notified of all safety defect and/or noncompliance decisions within five business days. 49 CFR 573.6 Significant civil penalties can be assessed for this violation.

Defect. Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2024 Acura ZDX and Prologue vehicles. Due to a software error, the instrument panel display may fail. Additionally, a software error may cause the rearview camera to display a blank screen when the vehicle is in reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) numbers 101, "Control and Displays," 111, "Rear Visibility," and 305, "Electric-Powered Vehicles."

Risk. An instrument panel display that fails to show critical safety information, such as the speedometer or warning lights, increases the risk of a crash or injury. Additionally, the loss of the rearview camera image can reduce the driver's rear visibility, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.

Remedy. Dealers will update the vehicle radio control module software, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed April 22, 2026. Owners may contact Honda's customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are TNL and XNK. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning March 4, 2026.

Defect. Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2024 Prologue vehicles. The right front lower control arm may contain a manufacturing defect that can cause it to fracture.

Risk. A right front lower control arm fracture can cause loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will inspect and replace the right front lower control arm as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 3, 2024. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is PIY.

The contact owns a 2024 Honda Prologue. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V306000 (Back Over Prevention); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. A local dealer was contacted and stated that parts were not yet available for the recall repair. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue, and a complaint was filed.

I currently lease a 2024 Honda Prologue, and for the past year, both front axles have been clicking. This is a well-documented problem, and it has been determined that the axles have a build problem and need to be replaced. The clicking sound started off on the left side only when making sharp turns, and now both axles make loud clicking noises all the time. This obviously is unacceptable for a vehicle that I have owned for less than 2 years. I went to Honda and asked them about replacement, and they told me there was no recall and that the axles would not be replaced unless they are leaking (please note that I do not have the ability to check everyday for leaks, as I would assume that is something a mechanic would need to fully investigate). The dealership informed me that the manufacturer does not have new axles built to the point where all cars can have them replaced, and the only thing they can do is to extend the warranty after the 3 years of lease is up, which would make a repair free of charge. This is a moot point, as I am not interested in keeping the car after the lease is up. I believe that the axles have already started to fail, and I am afraid that there could be an accident if the axles completely break down or break apart.This would obviously cause damage to the vehicle and potential harm to myself or to my family. My car started clicking when making left and right turns. I have to replace both CV joints. The symptoms appeared approximately 20k miles.

I was driving a 2024 Honda Prologue Elite and was coming to an ordinary stop at a safe distance behind another car at a red light. With my foot continuously and firmly pressed on the brake pedal, a brake alert/warning appeared on the dashboard screen accompanied by beeping, and the emergency brakes automatically engaged, stopping the car abruptly. Then, almost immediately, the vehicle suddenly lurched forward without warning, striking the vehicle ahead of me. I kept my foot firmly on the brake as the warning, beeping, and auto-brake activated again, and the vehicle lurched forward a second time, again striking the vehicle in front of me. This sequence repeated a third time with the same warning/beeping/braking and lurching pattern, causing a third forward impact. The vehicle came to a stop between each lurch, and at no point did I remove my foot from the brake or touch the accelerator pedal. There were no other witnesses besides the other driver involved, and no police report was filed at the scene. I believe this was caused by a major vehicle malfunction, not driver error. Upon further reflection, I want to note that while I believe I was in the last moment of coming to a complete stop, I had already slowed appropriately and was on track to stop fully, as intended. But because the onset of the malfunction was abrupt and disorienting, I cannot state with certainty whether the vehicle had reached a full stop or was a brief moment away from it when the auto-brake engaged. This car has a problem with the emergency brake system activating when there is nothing in any danger zone. We have owned this car for about a year, and when slowly reversing, we have been repeatedly annoyed by the warning lights & sounds going off & emergency brakes locking the wheels. Each time we check the cameras, mirrors and even get out of the car to look, but there was nothing anywhere near that would trigger such an event. This happened 4-5 times over the past year, and we assumed this was just an ultra-sensitive feature which was annoying and startling when it happened, but generally harmless. Until a similar issue with the brake system happened recently while we were coming to a stop while driving forward, except this time after the warnings went off and brakes locked, the car then shot forward, with my foot still on the brake, and hit the car in front of me. Then it locked up and shot forward again 2 MORE TIMES. I've detailed that event in another complaint on this site, but I wanted to put the original emergency brake problems on the record, in case they end up being related.

We where approaching the ramp to the bridge and our dashboard indicated front camera malfunction - ever since we’ve taken it to the dealer numerous times and the problem has not been resolved. It’s a safety issue. In addition also the cross camera doesn’t work sometimes and the dealer told us they know of this issue.

We were stuck in traffic and out of the blue the emergency brake system engaged, thank goodness no one hit us from behind- there was no reason to break there was no obstacle or any problem front of us

This is my second separate report which I experience with my car. On August of 30th, the car was unable to shift, so it was towed to Andy Mohr dealer to repair. It took 5 days for serviceman to figure out there was a wire issue. So he fixed, so he thought, on the September 9th, the same warning light came on my dashboard. I spent over a thousand dollar just serviceman to diagnose the same problem 3 times, but nothing was fixed. The warning lights are "service transmission unable to shift soon", adaptive cruise unavailable, one-pedal driving unavailable, brake hold unavailable, service emergency brake, service transmission unable to shift and more.

There is a loud clicking noise present when turning the vehicle and accelerating or decelerating at the same time. This noise started around 4000 miles and has gotten progressively worse.

1st Continuous clicking sound from the front axel when trying to turn, its amplifies when taking a uturn. I have complained to Honda service center they said they are not aware of while there is already fix done at different honda service centers. 2nd the Lanes assist doesn't work as a safety feature, it has multiple issues a) it ping pongs between the lanes with sudden moves, b) most of the times at the higher speeds it only warns or tries to correct once at least one of the wheels is in another lane c) with adaptive cruise control on and lane assist not working on any curved road if you are close to the divider or near an exit, it doesn't understand that the car ahead has taken the curve and it should stick in the lane, instead it accelerates and goes of the lane and thats very dangerous.

The car just stopped as I was driving, would not shift gears, and told me “service high voltage system” and “ service battery fault shutting down soon” and turned off. It was on 185 miles left (63%) and went to 0% later on and now won’t charge or turn on. I have screen shots and time stamps of those things

There is a clicking sound when turning right or left which seems the axle is broken. It is still under warranty but the dealer is refusing to fix it saying this breaks on all Prologue cars and they do not have a fix for that

The contact leased a 2024 Honda Prologue. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked outside in the driveway, unoccupied, suddenly there was a loud explosion, and the vehicle caught on fire. The contact stated that the fire spread to the garage and a vehicle parked nearby. The local fire department arrived on scene to extinguish the fire. The source of the fire remained under investigation. A Police report was filed. The local dealer was contacted. The vehicle and the other vehicle parked nearby were deemed total losses. The vehicles were towed to a local tow yard as per the insurance provider. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure by telephone. The failure mileage was approximately 13,000

While driving, the center console and its corresponding section of the instrument cluster will freeze and then completely turn off and become black screens. Then a message stating “the system is restarting” comes on the screen and after a minute or two it will turn back on. This happens at random times in random intervals; I have not been able to detect a pattern in the time between incidents or the amount of driving. My car has already been repaired for the initial federal safety recall of both screens turning off while driving, removing all instrument panel function which I experienced several times before being able to get an appointment for repair. This secondary issue presented after the software repairing the safety recall was put into my car. This began March 2026 and the most recent incident date is listed below (September 2026).

I am experiencing a severe defect involving a recurring clicking and popping noise from the front end of the vehicle when turning at low speeds. This issue is tied to a known premature failure of the front drive axles and constant velocity (CV) joints, which is currently the subject of federal class-action litigation ([XXX], et al. v. American Honda Motor Co., Inc.). The progressive failure of these critical drivetrain components presents an immediate safety risk. Degraded axles and CV joints can lead to sudden loss of propulsion, unexpected steering stiffness, or a complete loss of vehicle control while turning, creating an extreme hazard on public roads. Despite Honda acknowledging this issue internally via a Tech Line Summary Article, the manufacturer has failed to issue a safety recall to replace these defective components with a permanent, structurally sound fix. I am submitting this complaint to urge the NHTSA to open a formal safety investigation into the 2024–2026 Honda Prologue drivetrain assemblies to compel a nationwide safety recall before an axle failure results in an accident. The warning messages pop-up such as "One pedal Driving Unavailable. Use Brake for Stopping", "Auto-hold unavailable", and "adaptive cruise control temporarily unavailable " then parking sign with ranch sign turns on. And all the functions will be disable. I went to Honda dealer to fix the problem, all they said was Parking Brake Actuators. So they replace both left and right rear Brake Actuators. A week later same messages come on and recently I have new additional warning message on Dashboard. "Service Transmission Now Unable to shift soon", I went to honda dealer, of course there is no warning message show up then, so they cannot scan or nothing showed up on the scan. So they suggest that I kept driving until warning light stay on.

Clicking noise from CV axle. I took this to dealership (Mungenast St Louis Honda) multiple times in 2025-2026. Dealership advised that the problem was the CV axle(s), and Honda would not authorize repairs due to pending litigation and reports of current fixes not working

On XXX Me and my son were in [XXX] in one of the basement garages. Parked successfully the first time inching the vehicle forward without issues and stopping as needed. 2nd run, got into parking spot got close and stopped 1 foot away from wall. Attempted to inch forward, lightly and quickly tapping on accelerator to disengage auto hold/brake and move forward but car did not respond. Repeated the action, quickly and lightly tapped again no response, then all of a sudden car lurched forward, I jammed on the brakes with no response and car hit the wall. I have my 2024 Prologue at the Gillman Honda Body Shop and gave instructions to service advisor to pull data from my vehicle. The affected components are the BOTH FRONT DRIVE AXLE/CV JOINT ASSEMBLIES on my 2024 Honda Prologue. This is not merely a suspected problem. After I reported the clicking/popping condition to Honda multiple times, the vehicle was finally inspected by a technician, who determined that BOTH FRONT AXLES WERE BROKEN AND REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. The original clicking/popping was not present when I obtained the vehicle. It developed afterward and progressively worsened, particularly during turns. After Honda replaced both front axle assemblies, the noise returned within a short period of time. The replacement components now exhibit the same condition and the noises are worse than they were with the original axles. Honda has still not provided an effective repair. This creates a serious safety concern because the drive axles/CV joints are critical drivetrain components responsible for transferring power to the wheels while allowing the wheels to turn and move with the suspension. I am concerned about continued deterioration or another axle/CV-joint failure occurring while driving, potentially resulting in loss of propulsion or vehicle control and endangering me, my passengers, and other motorists. The condition has therefore been confirmed by a Honda technician, resulting in replacement of both front axles. Despite that repair, the same problem has returned and worsened. The vehicle and replacement axle/CV-joint components remain available for inspection by NHTSA or Honda. There were n
