The vehicle experienced multiple serious issues affecting safety and reliability. The 12V battery failed, leaving the vehicle unable to start. In addition, there is a persistent abnormal ratcheting or grinding noise when turning, indicating a possible drivetrain or steering-related defect. An interior component near the rearview mirror also detached while driving, creating a distraction and safety concern. The vehicle was taken to the dealership for repair on February 21, 2026 and has remained out of service for over 30 days with no confirmed repair completion date. There have been communication issues with the dealership, including lack of documentation and inconsistent updates regarding the status of the vehicle. Due to the extended downtime, unresolved defects, and safety concerns, the vehicle is unreliable and unusable for its intended purpose.

My front end suspension started making a popping noise. I took it to my local Honda dealer and they said it was a known issue but we don’t have any directive to fix or replace any parts yet. They also said that it’s safe to drive with this condition. I disagree, and expect a recall to be tied to my vin number and many others to force Honda and GM to get it resolved asap before our warranties are up. What has happened to our civil rights? Our lemon law? What if our front end gives away while driving at highway speeds?
Loud clicking from both sides of the front CV joint. Dealer says there is nothing they can do but know of the problem. Says not to drive it as much.
Noise coming from the CV axles when the steering wheel is turned either left or right.
CV Joints making loud clicking noise. Dealer says Honda will not fix.
Both CV axles are making cliking noises and popping sounds honda refuses to make repairs
The front wheel axle makes a clicking noise when turning either left or right. Vehicle has about 10 K miles on it.
The front axel makes a terrible clicking or clunking sound when turning. This seems to be a common problem with these cars and my concern it the axel will break or wear down to the point of failure.
Front axles/CV Joints make a crunching noise at low speeds when turning left or right. 2024 Honda Prologue with less than 5,500 miles on it. I'm afraid this may become a safety issue the more I drive the vehicle. I have not had the vehicle inspected yet at a dealer or otherwise, but I've noticed this issue reported in multiple Honda Prologue forums. There are no warning lights, but the noise coming from both wheel wells is consistant and noticeable.
Direct cause - Unknown. What I do know however was that the automatic emergency break system on my vehicle was activated, causing the vehicle to stop in the middle of driving. This resulted in the vehicle behind me hitting my car. Prior to the incident occurring, no warning indicators (lamps, messages, etc.) came from the dashboard. The vehicle just stopped. Immediately after this accident occurred. I turned off the forward collision safety feature, as I was scared of the issue (vehicle stopping) repeating itself. To date, my vehicle has not been repaired or my insurance agency contacted, as I do not believe I should be held responsible for the cost of this repair.
The front axles in my 2024 Honda prologue touring model four-wheel drive I have been clicking and making noises even before 1,000 miles. I have spoken to the dealer several times and Honda as well two times. I do not know if this is dangerous but it seems dangerous to me. I am used to driving older vehicles that I maintain to almost new standards. I am honestly more nervous about driving this car at highway speeds than my 2006 BMW 330 I with 155,000 mi. I have been told that there is no fix for the situation at this point. I purchased a Honda the second brand new one in one year believing this was a great company that would stand by their product. My other vehicle is a 2024 Honda CRV touring model hybrid. I completely love this vehicle. I am now believing that they are not such a great company and they have made a mistake with this vehicle. I realize that this is not made by Honda but it is sold by Honda and they should not be so negligent in dealing with these issues. It is all over the internet that this car has problems and it seems that no one is dealing with it. Can you please help! Thank you for your help in this matter. The issues I am experiencing for approximately the past five to six months include:- Forward Collision System showing the message “Forward Collision System Unavailable.” Adaptive Cruise Control displaying “Adaptive Cruise Temporarily Unavailable.” Rear parking safety system applying sudden braking even when there is no pedestrian, vehicle, or object nearby. Even when the system is set to “Alert Only,” the vehicle still applies the brake unexpectedly.
The vehicle produces a ratcheting / clicking sound from the front axle area when turning the steering wheel, especially during low-speed turns such as pulling out of a parking space or making sharp turns. The sound appears to originate from the front drive axle or CV joint area. The noise is repetitive and occurs when the vehicle is under light acceleration while the wheels are turned. This problem has been widely reported by other Honda Prologue owners and appears related to defective front drive axles or CV joints. There are reports and a current lawsuit alleging that the 2024–2026 Honda Prologue vehicles have axle defects causing clicking or ratcheting noises when turning. I am concerned that the drivetrain component may fail prematurely and potentially affect steering or vehicle control. Because this involves the axle and drivetrain, it may represent a safety risk if the component degrades or fails while the vehicle is in motion. I am submitting this complaint so the issue can be investigated for potential safety defects affecting Honda Prologue vehicles.
A loud clicking and popping sound while turning the car at low speeds, attributed most likely to the CV joint. The sound is happening more and more frequently.
Beginning at 9000 miles, clicking began when taking right and left turns. I have had 8 axle replacements and still the issue is not repaired.
Often at times when turning, I hear a clicking noise. Was informed it could be CV joints. Went to Honda and was told they can't do nothing about it at this time.
Axle noise from both sides while turning, noise is very loud as if it is going to break. Unsafe to drive.
My 2024 Honda Prologue produces a rhythmic clicking and rattling noise from the front axle area whenever I make low‑speed left or right turns. The sound is tied to wheel rotation and is most noticeable during sharper turns such as entering or exiting a parking space. The noise is reproducible on every drive and began early in the vehicle’s life. It appears consistent with the widely reported front CV joint/axle defect affecting other Prologue owners, many of whom describe the same clicking or ratcheting noise during turns. Honda has issued internal guidance acknowledging this symptom and advising dealers that the issue is under investigation. Because this involves the front drive axle/CV joint assembly, there is concern about premature wear or potential failure of a critical steering and drivetrain component, which could pose a safety risk if the condition worsens. My vehicle began producing loud clicking and popping noises from the front drivetrain during low-speed turns and acceleration around October 2025 at approximately 8,000 miles. I brought the vehicle to a Honda dealership for inspection, where the service department confirmed that both front CV axles were defective and recommended replacement. The replacement parts were initially backordered but have since arrived at the dealership. However, Honda has informed the dealer that the company is currently investigating this issue and does not consider it a safety concern at this time, and dealers have been instructed not to replace the axles unless there is obvious physical damage. As a result, the dealership has not repaired the vehicle despite diagnosing both axles as defective. I am concerned that premature failure of both front axles could lead to drivetrain malfunction or loss of power to the wheels while driving.
Hello I buy the need hona prologue and from the first month the axles started making noise I tried to go to Honda dealer they say we don’t have no fix for this until now it’s almost 1 year they are giving me the same answer I am soo scared to drive the car because the sounds is getting more nd more I also attached the service reports with it.
The cv axle makes a very loud clicking noise when turning and is actively getting worse. Honda has done nothing to ensure my safety in this car and I with experience in vehicles know the cars cv components are due to fail at some point.
I have a 2024 Honda Prologue that has 8000 miles. When making left turns, the car has made very loud and clicking noises from the front axles that are very disturbing and startled me while driving. It occurred again. I am taking the car to the dealer for inspection. But it has been confirmed by the dealer that there is an axle problem and they have not been able to get the right part to repair/replace. There were no warning issues prior to the incident. My passengers and I were jarred by the loud noise but we were all seatbelted.
When turning left or right, the vehicle produces a distinct clicking sound from the front drivetrain or steering area. This issue was first noticed on January 22, 2025 and has continued to occur since that time. I have reported the problem to the dealership on multiple occasions; however, the concern is no longer being documented on my service receipts despite my attempts to have it addressed. The persistent clicking noise raises concern about a possible defect involving the axle, CV joint, steering components, or the electric drivetrain system. If a related component were to fail while the vehicle is in motion, it could result in loss of propulsion, steering impairment, or sudden mechanical failure during a turn, increasing the risk of a crash. The dealership has indicated that the manufacturer is aware of the issue but has not yet provided a repair remedy or guidance to the service center, leaving the vehicle operating with a potentially unresolved mechanical defect.
Driver's side front CV joint clicking when car accelerates from a stop while the wheel is turned, such as when pulling out of a driveway. Apparently this is a commonly known issue.
CV joints/axles make a loud clicking sound when I turn the vehicle hard left or hard right. This issue appeared in late December 2025 when the vehicle had less than 5,000 miles. This issue has been inspected and confirmed by the dealer. There are no warning messages when this occurs. I brought the vehicle back to the dealer after waiting a few weeks for the new parts to arrive, but I was turned away because they said they had received parts that still had the defect. I called today for an update, and they said there is no ETA for the updated CV joints.
Today, my Honda dealer said they will not perform the update needed for Manufacturer Recall Number XNK and NHTSA Recall Number 26V-112 because it failed on another vehicle last week. They have no ETA.
I have a 2024 Honda Prologue EX AWD, leased new, with approximately 16,000 miles. At approximately 13,000 miles, I started to hear clicking/cracking from the front of the car while turning under either acceleration or braking. I soon learned that this was a common issue with the Prologue's front axles. I had my local dealer inspect it in November 2025, and they heard the noise. However, I was told that Honda had instructed its dealers not to replace any defective axles until a suitable replacement part was developed. The service manager advised me that this was not a safety issue. I disagree with this assessment. As the axles are a critical component, I feel my safety is at risk when driving this car.
The issue appears to involve the steering, front axle or front drivetrain assembly. When turning the steering wheel, particularly at low speeds such as during parking maneuvers or tight turns, there is a distinct clicking or popping sound coming from the front axle area both left and right side The noise is mechanical in nature and occurs repeatedly when the steering angle increases. This behavior suggests a possible issue with the front axle shaft, (CV) joint, or related drivetrain components. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. A clicking or popping sound from the front axle during turning can be an early indicator of drivetrain component wear or failure, particularly involving CV joints or axle shafts. If a front axle or joint were to fail while the vehicle is in motion, it could result in sudden loss of propulsion to the wheel or compromised control during turning. Because this noise occurs during routine driving maneuvers, it raises concern that a critical drivetrain component may be prematurely failing. A failure during a turn, intersection maneuver, or while entering traffic could create a hazardous situation for the driver and surrounding vehicles. I’m concerned because I had a similar issue with a 1994 Honda Accord; the CV boots were bad and there was a risk (I was told) that the front suspension could collapse while driving especially on highway. The condition is easily reproducible during low-speed turning and parking maneuvers and occurs consiste
At slower speeds and tight turning, there is a clacking sound that occurs. I went to the dealer, and they say it is a known issue, but that Honda doesn't have a fix for it yet and didn't say whether they would fix it or not. I read this has something to do with CV joints and axle, and that is concerning that it could become a safety concern. I have read many people are complaining about it. I am hoping by submitting my complaint, you will force a recall to have Honda correct the design issue and take the corrective action.
Loud clunking noise from front end when turning right or left and accelerating from a stop or slow speed. I’ve been told by dealer that this is from defective front CV axles. I’ve also been told that this could be a safety issue if the component fails completely. Both General Motors and Honda are aware of the issue.
Loud clicking noise/knocking when I turn left or right. I first notified Honda service on 9/24/25. I was told I would need a new axle but the part was backordered nationwide. The noise seems to be getting worse with small vibrations when turning. I called the same dealership service today 3/5/26 and was told Honda corporate release guidance two weeks ago that this is not a safety issue and that they would not cover a new axle unless it was part of a recall.
When driving my Honda 2024 Prologue there is a loud, persistent, clunking or popping sound whenever I turn. The dealership says it's related to the axle and/or the ball joint and there is no fix, neither is there a recall, so there is nothing they can, or will, do. This cannot be safe. When I'm driving at freeway speeds and go to turn into another lane to hear this clunking sound is very unnerving. Looking on line I know I am not the only one with this issue - there are many, many other car owners citing the same concern. Please issue a recall or safety warning so that Honda will address this issue.
Broken/Clicking CV joints. This could lead to all loss of power transfer to the wheels, causing a sudden and unexpected stop to the vehicle while driving. Honda is aware of this defect, but has no permanent fix. This is confirmed by multiple Honda Service Centers. High Voltage Warning. Loss of heat, car will not charge, car shuts down/becomes undrivable, or enters "limp mode." This is an extreme safety issue. The car loses the ability to properly cool the main battery. This could result in thermal runaway (a rapid, uncontrollable, and self-sustaining increase in battery cell temperature), resulting in a fire that is difficult to extinguish, burns extremely hot, may reignite hours or days after the initial incident, and/or result in explosion. This is confirmed by multiple Honda Dealerships. The warning has occurred multiple times, even after multiple repair attempts.
2024 Prologue has a knocking sounds when turning left and right. It has only gotten worse. Honda has provided no solution and there are no parts available at Service Centers as confirmed by a Service Adviser in Escondido, CA. Honda is aware I feel unsafe driving this vehicle and made no attempt to remedy the situation.
The CV joints is failing. The first time Honda replaced the drive shaft. There is a new failing CV joint. Honda will not replace it.
When turning left (only) and accelerating, there is a distinct "clicking" noise and shudder coming from the front left undercarriage. It can be felt through the steering wheel. I believe it is coming from the CV joint and could lead to failure of that link and loss of steering control.
The left front CV joint or drive axel is starting to fail. There is a clicking/popping noise when accelerating from a sharp turn. The noise is getting worse as I drive the car and will probably lead to premature failure of the CV joint/drive axel which is a huge safety risk since it may cause loss of acceleration and/or loss of steering. The problem was confirmed by Sons Honda of McDonough, GA. Honda has issued a "Tech Line Summary Article" on December 19, 2025, for the problem. Here are the details: The problem affects all trims of the 2024 - 2026 Honda Prologue. SYMPTOM: Customers may complain of a clicking or ratcheting type noise when turning. DIAGNOSIS: If you verify the noise and isolate it to the drive axles, inspect for any damage and repair as necessary. If you do not find any damage, do not attempt any repairs. TEMPORARY SOLUTION: Advise the customer that the clicking noise will not impact normal driving and the symptom is currently being investigated.
The car is clicking and clunking whenever a turn is made. Honda said they can’t fix the issue because they don’t see any visible damage to the CV joint or lower control arm at this time.
Clinking Noise When Turning
Clicking from left front wheel when turning left at low speed unpon first use of day
Turning left or right, the cv axle clicks as if it’s going to crack in half. It’s been happening for months now. I’m scared to drive the car.
2024 Honda Prologue Elite AWD experiences severe drivetrain shudder, banging, and lurching when turning at or near full steering lock at low speeds (e.g., parking lots, U-turns, three-point turns). Severity increases significantly in cold ambient temperatures (below approximately 32°F). The front axle feels as though it is binding and releasing repeatedly, causing the entire vehicle to lurch violently. The condition is present from cold start and does not fully resolve even after the drivetrain warms up after several minutes of driving. The vehicle has been to an authorized Honda dealer three times in approximately one month for this same condition, all under warranty, between approximately 7,660–7,675 miles: Visit 1: Dealer verified failed outer CV joint on left front half shaft. Left front half shaft assembly replaced. Visit 2: Right front half shaft outer CV joint diagnosed as failing. Right front half shaft assembly replaced. Visit 3: Binding and lurching returned in both directions. Both left and right front half shaft assemblies replaced again. Vehicle held approximately two weeks waiting for parts. In total, four front half shaft assemblies have been replaced across three warranty repairs using the same GM part number. The condition returned immediately upon picking up the vehicle after the third repair. While severity is somewhat reduced, the shudder, binding, and lurching during turning persists. This is not a minor clicking noise as some owners have reported — the v
When turning sharply right and left a knocking sound occurs when accelerating. I have reproduced the sound multiple times.
Major amount of "Clicking/Clacking" when Turning . . . has progressively gotten worse over the past year until a few months ago when it "Became More Consistant" ==> Took vehicle to Avalon Honda to properly diagnose and record with the Manufacturer's, eg., Honda/GM
The front axle makes a grinding and click sound whenever you're turning. Dealership replaced the part but then the new one just broke as well. Now Honda is refusing to replace again as they supposedly work on a fix that has been well over a year in the making now. Separate problem with the adaptive cruise control. It randomly slams on the brakes on the highway. Dealership agreed they experienced it but nothing they could do and I would just have to wait for a software update and hope it fixes the problem.
The car makes a ticking noise when turning the wheel. It originally only happened when making left turns but recently it has started making the noise when making right turns as well.
Vehicle Information Year: 2024 Make: Honda Model: Prologue Purchase Date: February 10, 2025 Mileage at Time of Issue: Approximately 40,654 miles Date Problem Occurred: February 19, 2026 Complaint Description: I purchased a brand-new 2024 Honda Prologue on February 10, 2025. On February 19, 2026, I received a warning message on the dashboard that stated “Service High Voltage System.” At the time the warning appeared, the vehicle had approximately 40,654 miles on the odometer. This warning concerns me because the high-voltage system is a critical component of the vehicle’s electric power train. A malfunction in this system could potentially affect the vehicle’s ability to operate safely, charge properly, or maintain normal performance. Since this is an electric vehicle, any issue with the high-voltage system could create a safety risk, especially if the vehicle were to lose power or fail while driving. I am submitting this complaint so the issue can be documented and investigated in case other 2024 Honda Prologue vehicles experience the same problem. At the time of submitting this report, I am not aware of a recall addressing this issue. I will be taking the vehicle to a Honda dealership for inspection and will keep records of any diagnosis, warning codes, or repairs related to this problem.
On 2/19/2026 I was taking an freeway exit ramp from I 15 south to Carrol Carrol canyon and I stepped on the brake but the car did not slow (my perception was it was speeding up), the vehicle collision warning did not sound and the vehicle did not emergency brake, therefore I hit a stopped vehicle at a stoplight. The air bags did not deploy. Attached pictures: Left side is the vehicle was rear ended. Right side is the Honda Prologue
Loud clicking, metal on metal grinding noises at the front (both) wheel axle when making a right or left turn. Noise started around 7500 miles on and off. Now at around 9k miles the metal on metal grinding noise is getting louder and more frequent. Every time when the car is stopped and then accelerate to a turn (right and left) or during a U turn is when the noise is the loudest. Every time the steering wheel makes a full turn the noise is louder. I was told by a local dealership that Honda does not have an explanation. Honda has stopped replacing/fixing the issue unless the parts are showing damaged. It sounds like they are not proactively doing anything about it until someone gets hurt or something goes wrong and that is concerning.
My 2024 Honda Prologue sat in my driveway, during winter temps, for a few days, and when I walked around the car I noticed that the right rear tail light was completely cracked/busted. Upon closer evaluation, I also noticed that the left side started showing signs of cracking as well. The cracking started from the inside of the light, as you can't feel the crack on the outside surface, on the left side. There was no other damage anywhere else on the vehicle or in the surrounding area. The tail lights appeared to have busted/cracked on their own in the cold temperatures.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
