My 2024 Honda Prologue (VIN [XXX]) produces a loud clicking/knocking noise from the front drive axles when turning, most noticeable during low-speed turns and when accelerating out of a turn. The noise began shortly after I acquired the vehicle at low mileage, consistent with the widely reported front CV joint/axle defect affecting 2024-2026 Prologues. This is a safety concern, not merely a noise. The defect involves internal drive-axle joint irregularities that can progressively worsen and impair propulsion, steering response, and drivability, with risk of eventual axle failure and loss of vehicle control while driving. Honda acknowledged this condition in a XXX dealer Tech Line but directed dealers not to repair it if no visible damage is found, leaving the defect unaddressed. Replacement axles reportedly fail again. No effective repair is currently available. I request that NHTSA investigate this drive-axle defect. 2024 Honda Prologue complaints
Owner reports filed with NHTSA about this vehicle, newest first and reproduced as filed. They are unverified accounts: one proves nothing, and a pattern across many is the thing worth reading. Back to the full 2024 record →
The front-left CV joint/drive axle system malfunctioned. A loud repetitive clicking began during turns at approximately 1,050 miles. The vehicle and components are available for inspection. The condition creates safety concerns because the vehicle sometimes feels unstable while turning and the steering/drivability regularly feels abnormal. The tires have also developed uneven wear, raising concerns about reduced traction and handling.Separately, the vehicle has twice unexpectedly lurched forward from a complete stop. During both incidents, One-Pedal Driving and Auto Hold were active, the Auto Hold indicator was illuminated, and the brake pedal was not being pressed because Auto Hold was maintaining the stop. The vehicle suddenly moved forward without intentional accelerator input, as though the brakes released. I immediately applied the brake. During one incident, the vehicle struck another stopped vehicle, causing significant damage to that vehicle. No damage occurred to my Prologue. These incidents occurred both before and after the CV joint replacement.Hendrick Honda Bradenton confirmed the clicking condition after I brought the vehicle in for service in February 2025. A replacement CV joint arrived and was installed in approximately March 2025. The dealership informed me that replacing the CV joint did not correct the problem. The clicking continues. I was subsequently told I could drive the vehicle without limitations and that there was no safety risk. The vehicle has been
The car makes clicking sound when I make a left or a right turn. The sound is getting louder and more obvious. I took it Honda dealership twice and was told it doesn’t interfere with the driving then they wouldn’t fix it. They will investigate it further. It has been a year and the dealer or the manufacturer hasn’t said anything else.
Experiencing the CV joint clicking issue. Can hear a clicking issue when turning left or right at slower speeds. I am aware that this is an ongoing issue with Honda Prologues and would like to force a recall to repair the issue. The contact owns a 2024 Honda Prologue. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V306000 (Back Over Prevention). The contact stated that while in reverse, the rear-view camera was glitching, and the red triangle on the rear-view camera screen indicated that there was an object behind the vehicle; however, there was no object behind the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for the recall repair however, the part to do the recall repair was not available. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 6,000.
I own a 2024 Honda Prologue (VIN: [XXX]). Since approximately XXX, the vehicle has experienced recurring failures involving critical driver-assistance and safety systems. The problems include: • "Forward Collision System Unavailable" warnings • "Adaptive Cruise Control Temporarily Unavailable" warnings • Automatic braking while reversing when no obstacle is present • Repeated loss of confidence in the operation of safety-related driver assistance systems The vehicle has been presented to authorized Honda service facilities approximately four times for diagnosis and repair. The vehicle has spent approximately 20 to 22 days out of service. Despite multiple repair attempts, the problems continue. The vehicle has never been involved in a collision. A prior insurance claim involved hail damage only and was repaired. I do not believe the hail damage is related to the recurring failures of the driver-assistance systems. Because these systems are intended to help avoid collisions and improve vehicle safety, I am concerned that their repeated failure may create a safety risk. The unexpected braking while reversing is particularly concerning because it occurs even when no obstacle is present. I have opened Honda Case Number 162-31526 with American Honda Motor Company and have requested assistance, including consideration of a repurchase, replacement, or other resolution. I am submitting this complaint so that the issue can be documented and reviewed as a potential safety-related defect
2024 Honda Prologue, 434 miles outside of warranty, CV joints failing and requires over $1,000 out of pocket. This is known defect from the manufacturer and it just showed up a few weeks ago. There are hundreds of Honda customers with the same issue. Honda has not issued a recall and refuses to qualify it under the limited warranty.
Please see details of NHTSA Campaign #25V433000. This is a known issue associated with a platform technology shared by GM and Honda. I purchased the vehicle as CPO on 31 July and almost immediately the parking brake warning light and the 'Service Transmission Now, Unable to Shift Soon' error code appeared on the dash. I returned the car to the dealer on 1 Aug for repairs and was told this is a 'known issue' with Honda Prologues, but there is no recall in effect for Honda. How is this possible? I am concerned with the degree of risk I could have potentially encountered due to a sudden brake failure or being stranded.
The cv axle is clicking. The out cv boot is torn and leaking grease.
On 7/16/26, while driving, I heard loud clicking noises when turning and sometimes while driving straight. I took the vehicle to Coggin Deland Honda for inspection and they determined that both driveshafts are broken and need replacement. The service advisor shared that this is an ongoing problem with 2024 Honda Prologues that are not being covered by warranty. He also shared that there is a class action lawsuit regarding this issue, because they knew about this issue when building the vehicle. We have filed a claim through Honda corporate. The safety of myself and children is at risk because I am no longer able to drive the car because it poses inherent risk which can cause a vehicle crash or even death. The vehicle component has been inspected by a Honda certified mechanic. The repairs cost around 2500. This is unacceptable and should be covered by the warranty.
Since I purchased the car new, there is a loud clicking sound when turning the car left or right.
I went to charge my car Sunday morning, and throughout the day it kept showing on the dashboard that the charge door was open. I stopped several times to check, and the charge door was actually closed, which was really strange. Later, I went into a store for less than 10 minutes. I locked my car before going inside, but when I came back out, all the windows were down. It honestly scared me because I have no idea how that could have happened. I shared my experience with a coworker who has the same car, and he told me the exact same thing happened to him. It’s so strange and concerning. This is the first time it has happened to me, but now I’m nervous about leaving anything inside the car, wondering if the windows could randomly open again.
While getting ready to parallel park the car, the entire screen system (dashboard, center console) went completely blank. This completely eliminates visibility to all safety aids, speed of vehicle, and warning systems. This has happened with this specific vehicle in the past, and the vehicle has been updated by Honda dealership. it has not been brought to a dealer quite yet. I am awaiting the dealerships opening and availability of a loaner vehicle. I have an ongoing case with Honda on this vehicle, Case # 16062775.
Both left and right CV axles make loud clicking, grinding noise when turning. I reported this issue to Honda at around 6,500 miles. At first I was told we are waiting for a solution. Now the dealership's service manager says that there is no safety issue and that Honda has no intention of fixing the problem. The car currently has less than 16,000 miles and the clicking just keeps getting louder. It doesn't feel safe and at the very least it's annoying and unacceptable.
I was traveling on Interstate 80 with adaptive cruise control set at 70. The cruise control normally recognizes slower cars ahead and slows or stops as necessary. I saw that cars were stopped ahead so I reduced the cruise control setting to 60 to "help" it slow down. However, we came up fast on the stopped cars and the car did not slow. I had to manually brake to avoid a collision. The car's speed was about 67 when I applied the brakes. The car acted like slowing to the new cruise control setting of 60 was overriding the collision avoidance. I recently had much of the software in the car updated due to a recall and the adaptive cruise control seems to be acting differently now. Weather was clear, around 4pm, and the roads were dry. We were Eastbound around a slight left curve (not sharp) and traffic was stopped ahead in all 5 lanes, so the system should have noticed the obstacles ahead.
Known design flaw of the CV joint failing under the weight of the vehicle causing a clicking sound when turning and eventually rendering the vehicle useless.
WHEN I USED ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, MY CAR TENDS TO LEAN SLIGHTLY TO THE RIGHT. IT VEERS OVER A BIT AND THEN JERKS TO THE LEFT. ALL IN ALL, I CAN'T USE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL ON THE FREEWAY WITHOUT PAYING ATTENTION. IT IS GENUINELY DANGEROUS IF VEHICLES ARE DRIVING ALONGSIDE OR BEHIND ME. OTHER THING, WHEN I USED ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL FOR ALMOST ONE HOUR, THEN IT SUDDENLY BECOMES INACTIVE. IF I HAVE BEEN FOLLOW ANOTHER CAR, then what should happen when it suddenly becomes inactive??? I was very lucky at that time because there was no car in front of me. After 5,000 miles, my car began to make a slight noise on the right side when I slowed down in the city. Maybe it happened in the front drive axle assemblies or the front right low arm control.
Battery failed and Battery will not charge. Car has 39,000 miles and is a 2024. Has been at the dealer for 3 days. Was driving to [XXX] from [XXX]. Will have to fly back and get the car if a repair is able to be made. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The screens (odometer and center entertainment console) both went blank while driving on the highway today. I had brought the vehicle in for the previous recall to have the update installed to prevent this problem.
I am unable to manually turn on my lights, the vehicle stays on ‘automatic lights’. Headlight function remains normal within the automated functions, however, pursuing to Florida Statute 316.217 manual headlight control is necessary to turn on my headlights. The windshield wipers are an operation which does not take place unless the windshield wipers traveling at such speed, automated light control turns them on automatically. The cause of this is directly related to the software in the entertainment system that manually locks out the driver from addressing and turning on their own headlights.
Both front axels have been making loud clicking noise and clunking vibration while turning since the vehicle roughly reached 2000 miles. The vehicle was taken into Honda Auto Center of Bellevue, and I was told that is was a known issue, Honda was no longer allowing warranty replacements of axels and that is was "just a noise the car will make".
CV Joints/Boot clicking and front passenger suspension squeaking, power steering making rubbing and squealing noises . Baking up-vehicle slams on brakes with nothing behind me. Dealership claims everything is fine and can't recreate issues.
The rear backup camera is extremely dark at low light level conditions causing it to be a deterrent instead of assistant. I cannot see in the dark with the camera!
Component: Honda Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS/AEB). Vehicle is in GEICO insurance claim process, not yet released. EDR data has not been extracted and is available for inspection if preserved before the vehicle changes hands. Safety risk: Two failure modes. (1) False AEB activations occurred multiple times — while driving at ~20 mph and while reversing at low speed, with no obstacle present. Hard sudden braking with no warning created rear-collision risk. (2) On 6/23/2026 at ~9:50 AM, AEB failed to activate when I struck a parked vehicle. Airbags deployed on impact, briefly incapacitating me. My foot remained on the accelerator. Standard post-collision safety design calls for automatic power cutoff and brake application after airbag deployment, specifically to prevent continued acceleration when a driver may be incapacitated. This vehicle did neither — it continued accelerating, significantly worsening the collision. I sustained soreness and bruising. Dealer confirmation: I did not take the vehicle to a dealer for the phantom braking. Per other NHTSA complaints for the Prologue and Honda's broader CMBS issues (Engineering Analysis EA25002), dealers have reportedly been unable to replicate the issue and told owners the behavior is normal. Inspections: GEICO assessed the vehicle for the claim. No inspection by Honda or independent mechanic for AEB specifically. EDR data not yet extracted. Warning indicators: During false AEB activations, the collision warning appea
Infotainment and driver info screen go black randomly throughout the month. This has happened to me nine times in seven weeks. Takes about 30 seconds for the screens to reset.
My issue is the cv axles , when I am turning clicking noise is coming from the front . I brought the car to the dealership and the told me Honda said not to replace, because is some lawsuit and under investigation .There should be a recall soon with this issue. I can’t give the car back and Honda has the dealer and customer hand tied up. NHTSA this a known issue and Honda and GM new about this and will not help, can this be a safety issue yes , just wait until a wheel comes off when doing 60 miles per hour and somebody gets killed they it will be a recall.
While driving my 2024 Honda Prologue Elite at anywhere from 10-30 MPH, the One-Pedal Driving system suddenly and without warning faults out and disabled mid-drive. The regenerative braking abruptly cut out, causing a sudden loss of expected deceleration, creating a 'lurch forward' feeling. A dashboard warning light illuminated instructing me to press the brake pedal immediately. This has happened multiple times, causing a severe safety hazard during normal traffic conditions. The vehicle shares an identical GM Ultium electronic brake modulator architecture with other previously recalled vehicles. The car is unsafe and should be considered for recall repairs. I have read that this is happening to others and Honda really needs to address this issue.
My 2024 Honda Prologue (VIN [XXX]) only has 16K miles on this vehicle. Both front half-shaft CV joints are failing and have been failing for the last SEVERAL months by manifesting a persistent and worsening very loud clicking when loading and unloading the drive-train, driving up hill and executing any type of turn maneuver. I've complained numerous times to the Honda Dealership here in Seattle start 4Q 2025. They informed me that this has been an ongoing "known" problem with this specific model over the entire model 3 year offering from 2024-26, but at that time Honda America had no revised part number to effectively mitigate the problem. They initially replaced the failed CV half-shafts with the same part number, only to have those parts fail again. Honda America subsequently instructed all Honda dealerships maintenance depts to stop replacing these parts until a newly revise part number is released. I was instructed to contact Honda America at their national customer service at 800-999-1009. (My Case # [XXX]). I've spoken with at least 20-30 difference Honda reps over the last 6 months with no commitment to do anything to fix this potentially dangerous problem. When the outer CV joint completely fails, it could potentially turn into a pole-vault stick and literally flip the car at freeway speeds and definitely cause a catastrophic loss of control at freeway speeds or at any velocity/momentum whatsoever. The very disappointing fact is there is NOW a revised/vastly improved
Clicking sound coming from the front axle when turning and at acceleration when first driving off. I contacted my Honda dealership to schedule an appointment so they can inspect the vehicle. They said that at this time they do not have a fix and Honda is aware of the problem, but no recall has been issued.
I was driving on the highway and there was traffic I was good 2-3 feet goin away from the car infront of me and going 10 mph and the automatic emergency break went off giving whiplash and anxiety since the breaking is so impactful. I had turned of about a month ago so I don’t understand how it turned back on
My car a distinct clicking or knocking noise from the front Constant Velocity (CV) joints during tight turns.
The contact owns a 2024 Honda Prologue. The contact stated that after shifting into reverse, the vehicle failed to respond as needed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, and a transmission software update was performed, and the vehicle was repaired. The contact was concerned that the failure might recur and no longer drove the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 19,000.
The infotainment screen during driving goes black and resets. While not necessary to perform vehicle function, I am concerned it is tied to other parts of the car that could cause a safety incident.
Description of Safety Defect: The Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) / Forward Collision Avoidance system is severely malfunctioning. On multiple occasions, the vehicle has experienced "phantom braking"—abruptly slamming on the brakes for no reason whatsoever. There were no obstacles, pedestrians, or vehicles ahead to trigger the system. This malfunction is happening at high speeds on major highways. Safety Risk and Impact: This issue represents an immediate and terrifying safety hazard. Unexpectedly slowing to a sudden stop at highway speeds completely compromises vehicle control and leaves me at an extreme risk of being rear-ended by high-speed traffic. It is a severe danger to myself, my passengers, and every other driver on the road. While the vehicle is currently subject to a manufacturer recall regarding the backup camera and other software updates, this specific, dangerous braking behavior makes the vehicle incredibly unsafe to operate. I request that the NHTSA review this issue immediately to determine if a broader safety investigation or expanded recall is required for the 2024 Honda Prologue.
Clicking from CV joint on turning when steering wheel is turned to both extremes left and right.
The contact owns a 2024 Honda Prologue. The contact stated while driving at 45 MPH with her wife in the vehicle, the vehicle instrument panel blacked out and displayed blank screen independently than minute and three seconds with instrument panel began to reset it self. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the instrument panel and front camera needed to replaced. The vehicle was repaired as they performed a software update and the front camera was replaced. The contact was relating the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V112000 (BACK OVER PREVENTION, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and they informed her that they reviewing the case. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000 .
The contact owns a 2024 Honda Prologue. The contact stated while attempting to charge her vehicle, the charging port failed to work as intended. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the charging port on the vehicle needed to replaced. The vehicle was repaired as the charging port was replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and they offered financial assistance and opened a case under the same number . The approximate failure mileage was 10,295 .
Cluck noise when turning at slow speed leaking oil both sides from the axel
Latches/locks/linkages Rear door is open but latch will not release/unlock. Child safety risk: child may be trapped or unable to exit Electrical unlocking and mechanical handle ineffective
Bad CV joints. It makes a clicking noise when ever I take a full turn
The clicking and ratchet sounds that my vehicle make while driving, but especially while turning/reversing along with the looser feeling of the steering during these times. It seems very unsafe almost like the axle is going to break while driving. Only had vehicle for 3 months.
CV axle joint clicking sound when turning the wheel right or left. Honda technician already check it out and confirm the problem that it is the CV joint axle. No remedy provided by Honda at this time
I am reporting a safety-related concern involving the right front axle on my 2024 Honda Prologue. When making right-hand turns at low speeds, the vehicle produces a loud clicking noise coming from the right front axle/CV joint area. The noise is repeatable and occurs consistently during turning maneuvers. I reported this issue to my authorized Honda dealership. On 05/21/2026, I dropped the vehicle off for inspection and repair. During the service visit, the technician acknowledged the concern and its happening with other Honda Prologue vehicles. No definitive safety repair or corrective action was provided at that time. I am reporting this concern because it involves a potential drivetrain/axle issue that may impact vehicle reliability and safe operation during turning conditions.
I have had two safety issues with this vehicle where there were system failures that did not record DTC codes. And an additional failure that does not record codes and cannot be duplicated. After leasing the vehicle for seventeen months, and during repair for an unrelated non-safety issue, it was discovered that the steering wheel airbag had a loose connection. No warning appeared at any time on the instrument panels. As well the one pedal function would switch into regular drive mode, as in a gas powered vehicle, randomly. After multiple tries and incidents the dealer service department has been unable to duplicate. Then on March 6 of this year I bought in the vehicle yet again for this one pedal failure, and was notified there was an existing recall. This software update was performed. On March 17, just 11 days after the update, while backing into my garage with the garage door going up the windshield wiper was clipped by the door, destroying both the wiper and shattering the back window. I have backed into my garage thousands of times and never had an issue. Why this happened on this date I do not know. What I do know is that the vehicle gave no warnings and did not break for the object. At the time my dogs were clipped into their seat belt harnesses in the center well. By a miracle no glass shattered beyond the back storage area and I was able to safely remove them. I checked after and all of the collision warning systems were listed as active, including automatic braking
The issue I'm experiencing with my 24 Prologue is the infotainment screen (which controls a lot of the vehicle) sometimes having issues showing the backup camera, or issues with the car not allowing me to utilize ACC (says temporarily unavailable), etc. I feel less safe in the vehicle as a result. The issue is an OPEN recall and the dealership I've contacted 5x [XXX] ) has refused to do the update to the vehicle for various reasons, the most recent being: Honda has not delivered the update needed to the dealership for them to do the work. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
When I put my car in reverse while I’m set as Driver 1 and actively driving, the seat unexpectedly switches to the Driver 2 memory position. This moves the seat too far back from the pedals, making it difficult for me to safely reach the brake and stop the vehicle.
Vehicle is has an active safety recall and my local dealership has not received the update
My infotainment screen randomly blacks out about once every two days, and my HuD fails to appear sometimes and then will be back the next day. This never happened before the recall with the software update, only since the recall was done
Vehicle: 2024 Honda Prologue Touring AWD The vehicle has an ongoing clicking/noise issue coming from the driver-side front CV joint/axle area, especially during turns, acceleration, and low-speed maneuvering. The clicking noise appears to be progressively worsening and raises concerns about premature CV joint failure and potential drivetrain safety issues. The issue has persisted despite service visits and replacement attempts. Additionally, the vehicle intermittently displays a “Charge Port Door Open” warning message even when the charge port door is fully closed and secured. This false warning can prevent charging functions from operating normally and creates concerns about electrical system reliability and sensor malfunction. Both issues occur intermittently but repeatedly, affecting confidence in the vehicle’s safety and reliability. The ongoing driver-side CV joint clicking noise has caused concerns about potential drivetrain failure while operating the vehicle. Due to the worsening nature of the issue and repeated occurrence, I no longer feel fully safe or confident driving the vehicle, especially during turns and normal road operation. The false charge port warning may also interfere with the vehicle’s charging capability and normal operation.
The contact owns a 2024 Honda Prologue. The contact received notice of Manufacturer Recall Number : 26056 6mh00. The contact stated that while driving on several occasions at various speeds, infotainment screen and instrument panel went black and did not work as intended. The vehicle was turned off for approximately five minutes and then turned on the infotainment screen and instrument panel began working. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that a software update was needed. The vehicle was repaired but the failure reoccurred the next day. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was a 12,100.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
