Braking is diminished when vehicle is moving at slow speed and brake pedal is pressed. The vehicle brake assist engages by pulsing, increasing the braking distance by not stopping the vehicle no matter how hard the brake pedal is pushed. Emergency brake is used to prevent vehicle from colliding. This may be related to NHTSA 19V645

I purchased my vehicle after the recall 19V-645 regarding the brake pump was issued. My vehicle was a part of that safety recall, and the module was reprogrammed in September 2019 (N192268490-01). The pump has not been previously replaced according to service records. I purchased my vehicle from a dealership in April 2021. I recently (late 2023) started having issues with my brakes, having increased brake pedal effort, a hard brake pedal, and increased stopping distance. I have had the brake assist alert come on several times. The issue happens more frequently at lower speeds. My park assist alert also comes on regularly when applying the brakes. I have taken my vehicle to GM several times regarding the park assist issues, but they have only cleared the computer codes and cannot figure out why they keep coming back, as there is no detectable issues with the system. I have also brought my vehicle in due to the adaptive cruise control, as it has also caused issues while using it. It will often apply brakes if it detects a vehicle in another lane while driving, causing the vehicle to “slam” on the brakes going at high rates of speed (I.e. driving on the interstate at 80 mph) and has nearly caused accidents, as the vehicle becomes hard to control, and the risk of following vehicles not having the reaction time to avoid a rear-end collision is increased. My particular vehicle does not have an option to switch between regular cruise control, and adaptive cruise control. After talki
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Suburban. The contact stated that the odor of fuel was present inside and outside the vehicle. The contact stated that upon investigation, it was discovered that fuel was leaking under the front of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic who determined that the fuel line had ruptured due to excessive rubbing against other components. The fuel line was replaced, and the vehicle was repaired. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 155,000.
While traveling on the highway, my dashboard indicated that my transmission was overheating. I had to pull over immediately and turn off the engine to allow it to cool down in the middle of heavy traffic in an unsafe location almost getting hit my multiple vehicles at a high rate of speed. All regular maintenance has been done and it only has 119,000 miles. I purchased it in May 2023 with 113,000 miles from a reputable dealership and this occurred in October 2033, only 5 months later. There is a recall for this model and my vehicle is not included, which seems to be an ongoing issue with other consumers with the same year, make, and model. The transmission needs to be replaced and it’s costing over $6,000.
Periodically the steering goes away and makes the vehicle hard to maneuver and I also get some warning lights with it.
When I attempt to speed up or slow down my truck hesitates, and it's followed by a significant shake, like a shudder, and sometimes it just jerks, or clunks, like it's doing a very “hard shift” when the automatic transmission changes the gears. Sometimes it shifts so violently, I feel like I got hit by another vehicle. I've also tried to accelerate into traffic, and the truck hesitate and then abruptly and violently jerks into gear. It creates a big traffic safety issue! Other times the transmission shifts gears so hard that it slams the truck forward, and makes feels like I've been rear-ended. Now it barely shifts!
Hard breaking at slow speeds. Risk of accident to pedestrian and to vehicle and to structure. This problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by dealer. This problem has not been inspected by manufacturer or police or insurance No warning lights prior to problem..
While traveling on a busy highway with cruise control on the rpms would go up about 2,000 then drop back down to normal. This happened all the way home (1hr 30min). No lights on dash or warning went on. Then when I was back in the city, I was at a stoplight turning left and pressed the gas it engaged and started to move and then the rpms shot up to 4,000 and the car didn't go. No warning lights, messages appeared.
I went to put my seatbelt on and the cable broke at the anchor point between the door and base of the seat.
Wireless charger built into center console malfunctioned and wires melted causing smoke to fill the car, armrest felt hot to touch.
TRANSMISSION HAS FAILED...
When trying to brake while parking in a parking spot at low speeds, or so and go traffic my wife and I experience an extremely hard brake pedal that creeps to a stop, almost hitting others and structures.
The vehicle will display “Service Trailer Braking System,” as well as “Service Front Camera,” “Service Driver Assist System.” These messages along with audible alerts will sound while driving. At random intervals, the forward collision system will also activate with no objects in sight. This causes the driver to become distracted or react quickly in unnecessary manner. This can increase risk of collision when the driver becomes distracted. The vehicle has been taken to Chevrolet multiple times and we have been told a faulty wiring harness is the cause. We own two of these vehicles, same make, model and year. This has happened in both vehicles.
Side detection module smoking causing dash malfunction and electrical issues
Brakes failed and became hard to press down on it and would not stop vehicle.
I have a 2015 Chevrolet Suburban that had an issue with the brakes not wanting to stop the vehicle at slow speeds. Several times when we pulled into our garage or a parking space the vehicle would want to glide instead of stopping. I've had several parts replaced and am now hoping the problem is fixed. just picked the car up today from repair shop.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Suburban. The contact stated that the rear liftgate failed to close. The fire department removed the hydraulic shock to close the rear liftgate. The dealer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 78,000.
My wife called me and said she could smell gasoline in our 2015 suburban. I went to the store she was located at and it smelled like raw gasoline. I called a tow truck company and to haul our suburban to the shop. The fuel line has been rubbing against the vehicle frame and rubbed a hole in it. This is very dangerous as the fuel take and line is located right underneath my kids seats.
The transmission on my vehicle had a catastrophic failure according to the dealership with only 80k miles. This car is driven 10k-15k miles a year. This is completely unacceptable. These need to be recalled as this is happening to more & more of these model vehicles.
The power steering locks up at random times while I am driving my vehicle. It seems to be temporary loss of power steering because it eventually starts working again. It feels almost impossible to turn the car when this happens. I searched online and found there had been a recall on the EPS (Electric Power Steering) for this exact issue. I called the local dealership, they told me after searching my vin that the recall had already taken place in 2019. The repair or recall that was done did not fix the problem.
Vehicle loses power steering when turning at slow speeds which was part of a recall from 2018. Reflashing the module didn't fix the issue and has been doing it again for a year now except that now it occasionally loses power as well and has twice lost power while I was turning and oncoming traffic coming at me. GM is saying it is not the same issue as the prior recall, but I disagree and that the work done prior didn't fix the safety hazard. An 8 year old vehicle shouldn't be losing power while driving to where the battery cables have to all be replaced. That should have been the work GM did back when they first put out the recall for the loss of power steering.
Vehicle is very hard to stop there was a recall which was performed in 2019 and it’s coming back and doing the same thing it takes a lot of brake pedal pressure to stop the Vehicle. It started some time ago but now it’s getting very hard to stop the car
El problema de esa camioneta esque lla se le a cambiado 3 veces los catalizadores uno alos 30 mil millas y oto alos 80 mil millas y el otro alos 165 mil millas y haora tiene 168 mil millas esta com el código p0430
Leaking fuel line from pump to engine. Rubbed on frame and wore a hole in it.
We smelled gas inside and outside of the car. Upon inspection, I found gas leaking from the fuel line under the vehicle that comes from the fuel tank. This created a dangerous situation as noxious fumes were introduced to the cabin of the vehicle, and the leaking gas created a fire hazard. We took the vehicle to the dealer, and they confirmed that the frame rubbing on the fuel line created a dangerous leak. They confirmed this is a common problem for this model and a redesign of the replacement fuel line would prevent the problem in the future, but no recall has been issued. We paid $1180.20 to have the fuel line replaced. No inspections other than the dealer and myself have been performed. No warning lights or messages indicated the problem.
Vehicle A/C condenser has a leak parts are on backorder because of the number of failures
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Suburban The contact stated while driving approximately 45 MPH on the highway, there was an abnormal oil odor and an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle prior to the vehicle losing motive power. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle stalled in traffic and the Police arrived to direct the traffic while waiting for the tow truck to arrive and tow the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 122,000.
Trailer Brake System Continuous Alerts.
So my 2015 when I’m slow drive 5mph give it take the steering wheel locks up parking assist lights come on my ac turns off and my screen shuts down
The drivers seat back is extremely lose. Moves forward and back with every brake and acceleration. The seat base also moves slightly, rocking left to right in turns. The suspension completely failed and had to be replaced. An unknown oily substance has been coating the inside of the windshield since the purchase of vehicle in 2015. Requires constant deep cleaning in order to see through windshield.
Brakes became very hard to apply and the car could not stop quickly. Needed to replace the vacuum booster pump.
Service Trailer Brake System
My vehicle started to alert me over and over again about my trailer brake system. It just keeps popping up over and over again and beeps every single time. A lot of GMC and Chevy are having this issue. It could cause hazards when I pull a trailer and the trailer brakes don’t work properly.
While driving, I noticed a significant smell of gas coming from my 2015 Chevrolet Suburban. When I stopped the vehicle, it was even more noticeable. I pulled over and got out of the car only to notice gas pouring (not dripping, more gushing) from under the vehicle between the driver's side door and driver's side passenger door. I was concerned as I had my young child with me and had no way of having someone pick us up. I drove it directly to the mechanic in which they confirmed a leak coming from above the tank and that they would not be able to repair the leak until they dropped the tank. Once dropping the tank, they found a hole in the fuel supply line above the tank due to a poor design and friction from the poor design. There is a service bulletin, 17-NA-304, but it does not protect owners from the cost of the repair. The repair cost was $425.38 despite it being a known issue with GM. This design is incredibly dangerous. Not only is the raw fuel inhalation through the vents a health hazard, it could cause a catastrophic fire as well. I have four children, the reason why we needed to drive a Suburban. The devastation of the risk of this flaw is incredible. This needs to be considered a recall and the cost should be covered by the company, not the owner. I emailed GM's customer service and they stated that nothing could be done because the vehicle was out of warranty.
The trailer breaking system keeps coming on constantly. It comes on randomly while sitting or driving then will keep doing it over and over. It's very distracting and I don't want it to hurt us if it fails etc.
The vehicle component of concern is the braking system. The brake pedal has to be pressed at an unusual rate of pressure to engage the brake system. More concerning is, on several occasions the brakes seem to fail, initiating the ABS system while in fast food lines. This has also occurred while backing up causing the pedal to be jammed to the floor to stop the vehicle. The excessive need for pressure while braking was supposed to be fixed in 2021 by a "simple" recall that simply updated the computer. I had this recall performed, but still have the same braking issues in my 2015 Chevrolet Suburban. I feel that this is a very serious concern and should be addressed. The difference is truly night and day between my wife's vehicle and mine. The braking issue comes with no warnings or alarms. I have had my brakes checked on several occasions to confirm normal brake wear and longevity.
Driving at a slow speed and lost power steering due to faulty power steering module Went into oncoming traffic and drove off road to avoid collision. Recalled 3 years ago for software update but problem happened again and gm would not cover repair
When turning at speeds below 20 mph, motor stops lights go out, lights and gauges will come back on and car can be started. This has happened two or three times over the last three months but now only five days apart.
Headlight assembly leaks and retains significant amounts of water resembling a half filled fish tank. This causes the bulbs to burn out or corrode the light power supply leaving you with no headlights! This is a very common problem across many GM platforms. I am surprised the Government regulators have allowed a safety problem this wide spread and known to continue unaddressed.
Blind spot detectors failed and shorted out entire vehicle. Caused battery drain and vehicle completely dead had to be flat bedded to dealer Cost of repair 1800$
Fuel line running from fuel pump to engine rubs on the frame causing a leak in the fuel line.
Brake pedal got hard and truck didn’t stop until brake pedal got softer, this been happened few occasions.
After about 10 min idling vehicle, noticed “service brake assist” message. When it was time to pull out onto road, the vehicle did not brake as expected. I had to push much harder on brake pedal, and heard clicking noise. I was in front of the middle school and because the vehicle was going very slow I was able to stop, but could have had an accident if the speed was higher or if I wasn’t strong enough to push pedal harder. This happened today 2/25/2022 and the outside temp is 3F. This seems just like the recall n192268490 on the consumer reports website, but the dealer says this vehicle is not affected even though it is the same year and model name.
I am the second owner of the I check my car recall then i took my car to the dealership in Saudi Arabia [XXX] Branch in first time they say we don't accept the recall then I complaint to [XXX] then they give me appointment after that they accept my car and tell me come after 2 hours when I go to take my car they say your car is ready but we need to confirm from GM before we handover the car even they did not provide me any vehicle for the transportation after all this when I bring my car back nothing has been fixed all warnings everything is same my VIN [XXX] Recall Number18V586 Recall Number19V761 Recall Number19V645 please fix problem and INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
The service trailer brake system error keeps coming up on my vehicle.
My wife drives a 2015 Chevrolet Suburban LTZ. The brake pedal would vibrate when pressed going at slow speed or when reversing for weeks leading up to the break failure; however, no service message would appear on the dashboard instrument panel. On December 17, 2021 my wife was driving when someone in another vehicle crossed the highway right in front of her, when she pressed the brakes, they were very hard to press and the 2015 Suburban was not able to stop. Fortunately, she barely missed colliding with the other vehicle. She was able to coast to a slow speed and pull over into the grass and glide to a stop because the brakes would not work. This was the first time that a "Service Brake Assist" message appeared on the dashboard instrument panel. We had the Suburban towed to the nearest Chevrolet dealership. In researching the problem, there has been a recall issued for this type of failure of the brakes for 2015-2018 Chevrolet Suburbans; however, there is no recall for our Suburban according to the VIN #. Failure of the braking system on a vehicle is very dangerous and can result in injury or death. I strongly believe our vehicle, and other vehicles like ours, should be added to the recall list as soon as possible before someone gets seriously injured or dies due to not being able to stop and crashing into another vehicle, person, or object. The Chevrolet dealership says that since our vehicle is not on the recall list, we are responsible for the charges to fix it; however,
The Service Trailer Brake System keeps popping up. Keeps dinging off and on whether you push the dismiss button or not. When this is on I question if the electrical brakes will work when I tow our camper. It is very distracting while driving. Safety Concern for sure!
Transmission issue at 160,000 miles and the whole system needs to be replaced. which was told most vehicles from 2014 - 2016 have these issues. such as the suburban, yukon, tahoe, serria, told could cause fire.
While vehicle is on if parked or driving the service trailer brake warning will come on and go off repeatedly. Happens randomly.
The break vacuum pump is going out and making vehicle hard to stop and fuel pump or vacuum is leaking gas and smell inside vehicle

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
