2024 Can-Am Spyder RT

Defect. Bombardier Recreational Products, Inc. (BRP) is recalling certain 2025-2026 Can-Am Origin, Can-Am Pulse, 2025-2027 Can-Am Canyon, 2024-2027 Can-Am Spyder RT, and Can-Am Spyder F3 motorcycles equipped with a touchscreen instrument cluster. The instrument cluster may reset, freeze, or go blank. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 123, "Motorcycle Control and Displays," and FMVSS number 122, "Motorcycle Brake Systems."

Risk. An inoperative instrument cluster will fail to display critical safety information, such as vehicle speed and warning lights, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. The instrument cluster software will be updated over-the-air (OTA) or by a dealer, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed October 12, 2026. Owners may contact BRP customer service at 1-888-272-9222. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will become searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning September 22, 2026. The manufacturers number for this recall is 2027-2 & 2026-3.

Vehicle was purchased new from Yacht Club Powersports in [XXX] after remaining in its shipping crate since 2024. Yacht Club documented the pre-delivery inspection on XXX. On XXX, before leaving, the front tires visibly appeared very low. A family member and I questioned the salesperson and were told the tires were fine and the vehicle was safe to ride. I then rode more than 160 miles home. During the ride, the vehicle developed significant side-to-side steering/handlebar wobble at approximately 62-70 MPH. After arriving home, tire pressures were approximately 8 PSI left front, 9 PSI right front, and 20 PSI rear. A BRP representative later advised me that approximately 8-9 PSI front and 20 PSI rear are the pressures used when these vehicles are shipped in the crate. I corrected the pressures to 20 PSI front and 28 PSI rear, but the wobble continued. On XXX, Greenmount Motorsports inspected the vehicle, documented the tires as good, and advised it was safe to ride. Because the wobble continued, I had the vehicle transported under warranty to an authorized Can-Am dealer in [XXX] on XXX. That dealer determined both front tires were defective/out of round and replaced them under warranty. The wobble stopped after replacement. The vehicle later developed suspension fault C211A, and the rear suspension air compressor required warranty replacement. A service employee at the Festus dealership told me, in substance, that they had been replacing multiple suspension air compressors on Ca

About 1 time in 5, after getting ready to ride the entire display will freeze up 30-60 seconds after beginning the trip. Most often this occurs if CarPlay is also enabled. When this happens, all functionality on the dashboard display is frozen. No speedometer, tachometer, gear indicator, CarPlay freezes, etc. Only fix is to pull over, stop the bike and wait for it to power down - then restart and hope it works the next time. I have had instances where it has failed 3 times in a row before finally working. Once it works for over 2 minutes I have not had it freeze up. The other option is to keep riding with a frozen display for about 5 minutes, then it crashes and reboots and sometimes fixes itself mid-ride. This is annoying and dangerous to lose all vehicle information like this. Have checked for firmware updates OTA and it says I'm up to date. I am not the only one this happens to, the Can-Am forums have other users with the same problem.

DUMPING OIL ENGINE TEMP LESS THAN 300 MILES

On [XXX] at approximately [XXX] I was riding my 2024 Can-Am Spyder RT Limited on [XXX] . Upon approaching the intersection of [XXX] and [XXX] I began to slow down as the light was changing to red. At this time, people in vehicles in the the left lane began beeping their horn and pointing at me and the motorcycle. As I looked down I saw flames shooting up my left ankle and leg and rising up under the seat where the gas tank is located. I immediately pulled the motorcycle over to the shoulder of [XXX] and got off. A truck driver passing by gave me a fire extinguisher and I was able to put the fire out without any injuries. The fire went up under the seat and under the front cowling into the instrument panel. I had it towed to Maddie's Motor Sports on [XXX] in the Town of Spencerport, NY. They contacted Bombardier Recreational Products. Inc (BRP) who asked for photos from Maddie's as well as an accident/incident report to be completed by me. I did so and turned it in to Maddie's on August 5th. Shortly thereafter, the BRP representative - Bruno Bilodeau made a decision that it was an insurance issue and not a warranty issue despite the fact that he never physically inspected the motorcycle. This motorcycle had approximately 5100 miles on it at the time of the fire and was still under the manufacture's warranty (until July 2026). Well, as prompted, I upgraded the firmware on my 2024 Spyder RT LTD last week. This week I am on a trip to the Wellsboro, PA area. Carplay has been acting flaky (no better than before the upgrade). Today however, I experienced something new. The Carplay nav side of the screen froze and the speedo side went black. The dash rebooted and the speedo was fine. This happened twice today. On the second episode the dash just froze...no reboot. After turning off the bike and returning after dinner, I didn't attach the phone and just used the basic guages without incident.
