When parked, the driver side mirror of various SPA Volvos seem to automatically adjust the driver side mirror in random directions after the driver exits the car. Then, on returning to the car, the mirror is not re-adjusted. Thus, if the driver fails to check the position of the mirror before driving off, they may find themselves in a situation where the mirror is unexpectedly out of alignment and they are unable to view behind them and to the left. They then have to re-adjust the mirror to its proper position while driving, which is unsafe. This is a known problem that has been reproduced by countless dealerships. The common fix is to replace the driver door module, however I believe there should be a recall for this as it poses a safety concern and some drivers may not have the means to pay for the replacement.

I reported this issue last year when my car was just barely outside of the extended service plan agreement we had on the car. I had called the dealership with similar issues as well way before hand. My infotainment system which controls all and I mean all of the safety features I paid/am still paying for no longer works. It’s a known issue with Volvo they know and so do other mechanics. Prior to this my instrument panel completely blanked out:went black for a minute while driving. Thankfully the car never shut off but I called them they said see if it happens again and that was that. I only really have my blindspot indicators working everything else doesn’t. With that I lost access to my back up camera, and proximity sensors

I purchased a vehicle from a dealership that was aware of faulty airbags that was returned to dealership from another consumer. I discovered the issue a few months later when airbag warning light appeared and had it repaired which included steering wheel airbag, lower knee airbag and the seat belt in September. I did know it was involved in a accident prior to purchase since carfax states airbags did not deploy. A reporter approached me in September to inform me that my vehicle was involved in a story of said dealership selling cars with faulty airbags. The Volvo service advisor and myself did reach out the dealership seeking out financial assistance which they state since the vehicle passed a multi point inspection they are not liable to assist financially. The DA is aware of the situation and I am seeking damages that could have resulted in my bodily injury of lost of life.

The indirect measurement TPMS system of this car has misdetected low tire pressure on three occasions. Most recently, on October 3 while driving on the freeway at about 70 MPH the TPMS alert illuminated. I checked the information screen and the display showed low pressure in all four tires. Because I have had misdetection of the right front tire twice before, and that it seemed very unlikely that all four tires would deflate at the same time, I disregarded the alert as a false detection. Later I checked the air pressure in all four tires and found it to be exactly correct. In an earlier episode, as I mentioned the TPMS alerted that the right front tire was low. In this instance, I did not have a history of false detections, so I believed the information to be accurate and immediately exited the freeway and returned home where I had a (very accurate) tire pressure gauge. Of course, the pressure was correct in all tires. I then followed the Volvo recalibration procedure and this completed successfully until later that day when the same tire alerted to low pressure again. I rechecked, again pressure was correct, and re-ran the calibration procedure. I did not have any other false detection again until about a year later when the October 3 incident occurred. The car has had at least one “total system update” to the software to address other issues since the first false detection incident, possibly two (not sure). The problem I am having with this is that Volvo apparently decided

Main center display becomes blank at random times. Sometimes this is accompanied by a loud squealing sound from car audio. When display blanks, all HVAC functions stop including defog, also all audio including turn signal indication sound. Sometimes display and functions self recover after approximately 15-20 seconds, sometimes it does not self recover and in these cases the ignition needs to be turned off and the drivers door opened to "turn off" the vehicle systems so that they can restart. The condition is completely random. The condition has been noted by other 2022+ Volvo owners in various forums. The software in my car has been updated following a complaint for this concern, however it has occurred again since the update. Date provided in report details is most recent event.

Hi, 2021 Volvo S60 VIN: [XXX] License plate: [XXX] (PA) Title date 12/7/2021 (bought the Volvo new...) I have barely 11,000 miles on the clock and have already replaced 4 low profile tires owing to potholes in highways and other roads across the United States. I really, truly want to file this complaint. I'm not sure why Volvo included low profile tires in the size 235/40R19 on their S60 models. When I drive, I feel like a downhill skier gliding from left to right, dodging potholes... According to my dealership Keystone Volvo of Doylestown, [XXX] , selling low profile tyres is a thriving industry…. According to AAA Mobile Mechanics, low-profile tyres are more prone to tyre and rim damage since they have less air cushioning to withstand heavy impacts from potholes and uneven places on the road. Low-profile tires are also more sensitive to road damage. Blowouts and tire failure are actually more likely on pothole-infested roadways. Given the state of the US road network, I believe your organization or whoever is in charge should not provide a TYPE certification for cars built within the US or imported from other countries both equipped with low profile tires... Please advise, and I eagerly await your response... Best , [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The contact owns a 2022 Volvo S60. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power. The contact stated that “Critical Safety Fault Battery - Stop and Service immediately” message was displayed. The contact was able to make it to work and had the vehicle towed to the dealer. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V793000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was 42,000.

1) during braking, there have been 3 occasions where the pedal became extremely difficult to press and the vehicle did not slow down properly. This nearly caused a crash. There were no alarms or alerts. Car was delivered to dealer for repairs. They confirmed that there were not diagnostic codes and verified that all the correct software was installed. They were unable to find and correct the problem.

This incident only occurs when placing the vehicle into drive after first having reversed. It happens intermittently. After reversing, the vehicle is stopped, place into B, which is drive with extra regenerative braking, and then the accelerator is press. The vehicle does not move. As the accelerator is pressed further, the transmission slams into gear and the vehicle launches with all the vigor of a vehicle that has the accelerator pressed to the floor. The vehicle was delivered to the dealer for diagnostics. There were not diagnostic code present, and they were unable to diagnose or fix the problem. They confirmed the correct software revisions were installed.

While reversing, the car came to a sudden abrupt halt and the check engine lamp and other warning lamps illuminated. The ignition was still active (the car was in hybrid mode, operating on battery for motive power only), I cycled the transmission to "D" and no forward movement occurred, also tried "R" and back to "D" with the same result - no movement. I cycled the ignition off and on, the engine started and the car could be moved. CEL still on. I scanned the car and found permanent DTC's U0111 (Lost Communication with Battery Energy Control Module) and U0120 (U0120 Lost Communication with Starter Generator Control Module). After several key on key off events, the CEL extinguished and battery motive power was again available. The DTC's are still in memory. This is a serious concern, the car suffered complete loss of motive power, had this occurred while operating the car on the road would have created a very dangerous condition and greatly increased risk of injury or death. Today, I checked online and found multiple reports of this exact same problem with other owners of Volvo T8 Extended Range-equipped vehicles. My car is almost new, about 160 miles and 3 weeks old. Thank you for your attention.

New 2022 Volvo S60 began shutting off while driving on highways and Interstates and in once within feet of railroad crossing. Also occurrences of car being unable to turn off even after several attempts. Problem arose 2/2022. In all instances traffic, including 18 wheelers, was approaching behind at highway and interstate speeds up to 70mph. Sometimes a warning lamp would appear saying vehicle is shut off/ powering down, or place vehicle in park vehicle shutting off. Other warning lamps would come on like parking assist currently not available or park/brake needs service. Volvo Dealer that initiated repairs determined the mid voltage battery module was faulty and they replaced the MVBM and dead battery. And was causing the error messages that they too were able to reproduce. Car’s new battery completely drain in May but had not been driven for at least two weeks was towed to Volvo dealership which replaced battery. Days after car was returned the vehicle began stopping in the middle of interstates/highways and near railroad crossings again with same messages and was towed back to dealer, who this time said something was spilled on the center console (which is right next to the cup holder) so they say it is an external problem and they aren’t responsible for the failure and state that they can fix but can’t guarantee problem won’t mysteriously arise again. There was never a spill in vehicle. Additionally the pilot assist for the adaptive cruise control shuts off with no visual
No unusual pattern of severe incidents in the complaint record.
Complaint counts track how many cars were sold and how long they have been on the road as much as they track quality. A common model from 2013 has had a decade to accumulate reports; a rare one from last year has not. The signal worth weighing is in the severity columns, in whether the same component keeps appearing, and in whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
Recall repairs are free for as long as the recall stands. Check whether a specific car still has open work at NHTSA's VIN lookup.
