2015 Toyota Yaris

Defect. Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2015-2017 Yaris vehicles. The wire harnesses for the side air bag sensors located within the front doors may crack and corrode, possibly causing the non-deployment or improper deployment of the front seat side air bags and the curtain shield air bags.

Risk. In the event of a crash, front seat side air bags and curtain shield air bags that do not deploy as intended can increase the risk of injury.

Remedy. Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will replace the wire harness assembly in the front doors, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began June 7, 2019. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-888-270-9371. Toyota's number for this recall is K1F/K0F.

Defect. Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2015 Yaris vehicles manufactured January 13, 2015, to February 27, 2015. The front strut mounting bearings can be damaged when a high load is applied to the strut, such as driving over a large bump.

Risk. A damaged strut mounting bearing may cause the strut rod to separate, causing a loss of vehicle stability and increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will replace the strut mounting bearings and, as necessary, replace the strut and front suspension support sub-assembly, free of charge. Remedy parts are currently unavailable. Interim notices were mailed to owners July 12, 2016. The recall began on September 29, 2016. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's number for this recall is G0S.

Defect. Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2012-2015 Yaris vehicles manufactured August 31, 2011, to February 9, 2015, and sold or registered in Puerto Rico. The affected vehicles may have been manufactured with a roof headliner that does not provide the proper occupant protection in the event of a crash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 201, " Occupant Protection in Interior Impact."

Risk. If the vehicles are equipped with a headliner that does not meet the impact requirements, there is an increased risk of occupantl injury in the event of a crash.

Remedy. Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will replace the headliner, free of charge. The recall began on June 22, 2015. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331.

Defect. Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2015 Yaris vehicles manufactured September 8, 2014, to January 9, 2015. The affected vehicles may have improperly tightened rear axle bearing bolts.

Risk. The improperly tightened bolts may loosen during vehicle operation and may potentially cause the wheel to lock up or may damage the rear brake components, reducing their effectiveness. Either condition increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the rear axle bearing bolts, tightening them as necessary, free of charge. The recall began during April 3, 2015. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331.

The contact owns a 2015 Toyota Yaris. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the seat belt light flashed on the instrument panel, indicating that the seat belt was not being worn. The air bag warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the wiring harness. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V319000 (Air Bags, Electrical System) but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 56,000.

Since my original lease of my 2015 Toyota Yaris SE from Hanlees Hilltop Toyota in January 2015, both the front and rear bumpers have continually come unfastened. This was described as a known defect by two employees at this location: Tito Anopol (phone [XXX] ) and [XXX] (phone [XXX] ). [XXX] noted the roof trim was also notorious for coming unfastened. He removed the top inlets from the roof exterior, helped replace them with OEMs, yet they still flew off the vehicle on the freeway. On August 29, 2023, the service team at Hanlees Hilltop Toyota verified the tabs on the bumpers are broken, and are even saying they cannot guarantee they will be able to properly install new parts if I order them from here, and are trying to refer me to a body shop? A car accident I had in March 2021, I was rear ended from behind and none of my airbags went off. I called Toyota and they said that that’s how it was supposed to be because of whatever situation of being rear ended

TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2015 TOYOTA YARIS. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE FRONT END OF HER VEHICLE. THE FRONT END WAS SEVERELY DAMAGED, BUT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED FROM THE SCENE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED FULL BODY AND FACIAL CONTUSIONS, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE CAUSE OF THE NON-DEPLOYMENT OF AIRBAGS DRIVER OF FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. DRIVER OF CAR THAT HIT ME ADMITTED FAULT. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. *TT*JB

CAR KEPT ACCELERATING DESPITE THE BRAKES ON THE CAR BEING APPLIED CAUSING THE CAR TO CRASH INTO A BUILDING.

INSTALLED FACTORY NEW CONTROL MODULE FROM TOYOTA, HAD NALLEY TOYOTA, ROSWELL, GA RESET THE AIRBAG. HALLEY DETERMINED THAT THE NEW CONTROL UNIT WAS DEFECTIVE AND REPLACED THE BRAND NEW UNIT WITH ANOTHER NEW UNIT. AT THAT TIME THEY DETERMINED THAT AN AIRBAG THAT DID NOT INFLATE ALSO HAD TO BE REPLACED. TWO DEFECTIVE UNITS IN AN AIR BAGS SYSTEM IS A POTENTIALLY FATAL SITUATION. REPAIR WAS DONE AT A BODY SHOP. I HAVE THE AIRBAG THEY DID NOT RETURN THE DEFECTIVE CONTROL MODULE. PART NUMBER 805736514P3K

THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR CHECK SCREWS LOOSENED. MAKES RARE NOISE.

WHILE I WAS PARKING MY CAR IN MY DRIVE WAY AND I TRIED TO STOP WITH THE BREAKS . I DIDN'T STOP EVEN THOUGH I WAS BREAKING HARD AND THE SPEED EXCELLERATED AND I HAD TROUBLE CONTROLING THE STEERING WHEEL , ITS MOVED IT SELF.

LOST VEHICLE CONTROL DICHING AND CRASHING IN TO A TREE.

THE TOYOTA 4 DOOR YARIS SUDDENLY ACCELERATED UPON INITIATING MOVEMENT FROM A RIGHT TURN STOP. THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED TO APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH WITHIN 100 FT. AND CAUSED A HEAD ON WITH FORD 250 TRUCK. UPON IMPACT, THE STEERING WHEEL AIR BAG DEPLOYED AND DRIVER OF THE YARIS SUSTAINED A CONCUSSION, FRACTURED STERNUM AND SEAT BELT BRUISING. THERE WAS SOME DAMAGE TO THE FORD 250 BUMPER AND THE TRUCK NEEDED REPAIRS INCLUDING A NEW BUMPER AND REALIGNMENT OF THE TRUCK VEHICLE TOTAL ALIGNMENT. IT IS UNKNOWN IF THE DRIVER OF THE FORD 250 SUFFERED ANY INJURIES. THE YARIS WAS TOTALED INCLUDING COMPLETE CRUSHING OF THE ENGINE WHICH ENDED UP NEAR THE DRIVER'S SEAT.

PURCHASED DEC.2014 , YARIS 2015 MAKES GRINDING NOISE WHEN ON LEFT TURNS ONLY, MAINTENANCE DONE ONE MONTH AFTER TO RESOLVE ISSUE ,BUT THE NOISE AND GRINDING STILL CONTINUE .
