Equipment17V737000
Filed Nov 20, 20172,306 vehiclesPrevost Cars, Inc.

Defect. Prevost Cars, Inc. (Prevost) is recalling certain 2010-2018 H3-41, H3-45, H3-45 VIP, X3-45, X3-45 Commuter, X3-45 VIP, and X3-45 VIP Entertainer vehicles, equipped with certain Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or excessive force may be needed to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. For a full list of the affected fire extinguisher models visit: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17E062-5427.pdf

Risk. In the event of a fire, if the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury.

Remedy. Prevost will notify owners, and instruct them to contact Kidde for a replacement fire extinguisher, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 11, 2018. Owners may contact Prevost customer service at 1-866-870-2046, or Kidde customer service toll free at 1-855-262-3540 or online at www.kidde.com and click on "Product Safety Recall" for more information. Prevost's number for this recall is SR17-31.

Fuel System, Diesel › Storage › Tank Assembly17V618000
Filed Oct 4, 20173,163 vehiclesPrevost Cars, Inc.

Defect. Prevost Cars, Inc. (Prevost) is recalling certain 2008-2018 H3-41, H3-45, H3-45 VIP, X3-45, X3-45 VIP, X3-45 VIP Entertainer, and XL2 motor coaches. The fuel tank cradle supports may have gaps at the points where the cradle connects to the coach frame, which can allow the attachment bolts to loosen and fail causing the fuel tank to fall from the vehicle.

Risk. If the fuel tank separates from the vehicle, it could be a road hazard and the vehicle would stall. Either scenario increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Prevost will notify owners, and dealers will correct the fuel tank cradle mounting, free of charge. The recall began on December 4, 2017. Owners may contact Prevost customer service at 1-866-870-2046. Prevost's number for this recall is SR17-28.

Reading this record

No unusual pattern of severe incidents in the complaint record.

Complaint counts track how many cars were sold and how long they have been on the road as much as they track quality. A common model from 2013 has had a decade to accumulate reports; a rare one from last year has not. The signal worth weighing is in the severity columns, in whether the same component keeps appearing, and in whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.

Recall repairs are free for as long as the recall stands. Check whether a specific car still has open work at NHTSA's VIN lookup.
