Defect. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2007-2011 Ranger, 2006-2012 Fusion, Lincoln Zephyr, Lincoln MKZ, 2006-2011 Mercury Milan, 2007-2010 Ford Edge, and Lincoln MKX vehicles. The driver's side air bag inflator may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, high temperatures, and high temperature cycling.

Risk. An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants, resulting in serious injury or death.

Remedy. Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver-side airbag inflator or module with an alternate one, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on April 9, 2021 for the passenger side, and November 14, 2022 for the driver side. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Remedy. Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the driver and passenger air bag module, and replace either the module or the inflator, if necessary, free of charge. The parts include certain driver-side air bag inflators and/or modules, designed to fit 2005-2014 Ford Mustang and Mustang GT500. It also includes certain passenger-side air bag inflators and/or modules designed to fit 2005-2014 Ford Mustang, 2010-2012 Lincoln MKZ, 2010-2012 Ford Fusion, 2010-2011 Mercury Milan, 2007-2011 Ford Ranger, and 2007-2010 Lincoln MKX vehicles. Defect. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2006-2010 Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan, Lincoln Zephyr and MKZ vehicles. The valves within the ABS Hydraulic Control Units (HCU) may react with brake fluids containing specific corrosion preventative additives. This reaction may cause the valves to not close properly.

Risk. If the valves do not properly close, additional brake pedal travel may be required to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Ford will notify owners, and dealers will flush the brake system with DOT 4 fluid and install a new brake fluid reservoir cap. In addition, the HCU will be tested to detect a possible stuck valve condition, replacing the HCU as necessary. All services will be performed free of charge. The recall began April 1, 2021. Defect. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2010 Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan and 2010-2012 Lincoln MKZ vehicles that previously received a replacement passenger air bag under recall 16V-384, 17V-024 or 18V-046. In the event of a crash requiring deployment of the passenger air bag, the bracket that secures the air bag inflator to the module housing may deform, allowing the gas that inflates the air bag to leak out.

Risk. If the air bag does not inflate as intended, there is an increased risk of injury in the event of a crash.

Ford mailed interim letters informing owners that parts are not yet available on July 15, 2016. Owners will receive a second notice when remedy parts become available. Defect. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2010-2011 Ford Fusion vehicles manufactured July 21, 2008, to March 4, 2011, and 2010-2011 Mercury Milan vehicles manufactured July 23, 2008, to December 10, 2010. The affected vehicles have fuel vapor canisters whose purge valves may not operate properly resulting in abnormal pressure changes in the fuel tank.

Risk. The pressure changes may cause the tank to crack and leak fuel. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.

Remedy. Ford will notify owners, and dealers will update the vehicle powertrain control modules and inspect the vehicle for any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) for this issue and perform a leak test on the Canister Purge Valve (CPV). The fuel tank will be inspected for cracks. The CPV and fuel tank will be replaced as necessary. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on January 15, 2016. Defect. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain all weather driver side accessory floor mats sold for use in model year 2006-2011 Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan, 2006 Lincoln Zephyr, and 2007-2011 Lincoln MKZ vehicles manufactured November 9, 2007, through October 31, 2010. The affected floor mats may move and possibly interfere with the accelerator pedal.

Risk. The floor mat could shift such that it could interfere with the accelerator pedal, preventing its return to an idle position, which could result in unintended vehicle speeds, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Ford will notify owners, and dealers will install new replacement mats, free of charge. The recall began in July 2014. Owners may contact Ford's customer service at 1-800-392-3673. NOTE: Vehicles built after October 31, 2010, while potentially equipped with the same floor mats, are equipped with a Brake Over Accelerator (BOA) feature that prevents simultaneous accelerator and brake application, allowing the vehicle to be safely stopped by pressing firmly and steadily on the brake pedal.

Defect. FORD IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2010-2011 FORD FUSION AND MERCURY MILAN VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH 17 INCH STEEL WHEELS AND BUILT FROM APRIL 1, 2009, THROUGH APRIL 30, 2009, AND FROM DECEMBER 1, 2009, THROUGH NOVEMBER 13, 2010. THE WHEEL STUDS MAY FRACTURE, POTENTIALLY CAUSING A WHEEL TO SEPARATE.

Risk. WHILE DRIVING, MULTIPLE STUD FRACTURES COULD OCCUR AT THE WHEEL LOCATION, AND THE OPERATOR MAY EXPERIENCE VEHICLE VIBRATION AND/OR WHEEL SEPARATION, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

FORD: THERE MAY BE A STEERING DRIFT WHILE DRIVING ON A FLAT OR UNEVEN ROAD SURFACE. 2010-2011 FUSION/MILAN/MKZ. THIS COULD BE NORMAL. *RM

While driving my 2010 Mercury Milan, the steering suddenly went out, making the vehicle extremely difficult to control. I almost hit another car because I could not steer properly. This was a serious safety concern, and I believe the steering issue needs to be investigated immediately.

The contact owned a 2010 Mercury Milan. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle was involved in a crash. The contact stated that the vehicle flipped over and landed on its roof of the vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. The vehicle was towed to a local tow yard. The contact was later taken to the local medical center. The contact sustained pain and bruises to the chest area, the left and right knees from the impact of the steering wheel, the middle back, and the left side hip. A Police report was filed. The vehicle was deemed a total loss by the insurance company. In addition, the contact stated that an unknown recall for the air bag was completed in 2025. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.

While driving at low speed performing a turn in a residential area, the vehicle suddenly displayed a “Steering Assist Fault” warning message and the steering wheel became completely locked with essentially no movement possible. I attempted to turn the wheel with extreme force but it would barely move, creating a serious safety hazard. I was fortunately driving slowly at the time. If this had occurred at higher speed or in traffic, it could have caused a crash, serious injury, or even death. Prior to the incident, there had occasionally been a slight amount of unusual tension/resistance felt while turning the steering wheel, although it was minor and inconsistent before the complete failure occurred. The failure happened suddenly while driving normally. The issue appears related to the electronic power steering (EPAS) / steering assist system. Similar steering assist failure complaints and recalls/investigations have existed on related Ford Fusion/Mercury Milan vehicles involving sudden loss of steering assist and steering control concerns. The vehicle is also currently affected by brake recall 19S54/19V904 involving braking performance concerns, increasing overall safety concerns regarding the vehicle. At the time of filing this complaint, the steering issue has not yet received a complete repair or confirmed diagnosis because the manufacturer and dealer stated the VIN is not currently included under steering recall coverage.

I was driving on the freeway and the steering began to stiffen. I got to my destination and decided to check the tires for any ice or snow, thinking that might be why it was difficult to drive but there was no buildup. I made it home and parked the car. The next day, I can't even turn the steering and a warning comes up that says service power steering and advancetrac.

Bought this car less then a year ago with 38k miles and just last week after coming back from vacation my power steering system went while on the expressway. The advancetrac warning light came on and then the service power steering now. The steering wheel was impossible to turn and to make matters worse it was snowing out.

The electric power steering has failed again this will make it twice in 18 months the last time it cost 1800 dollars to fix it know that only some of the 2010 Mercury Milans are on a recall list unfortunately mine is not on that list why because it is absurd that I should I have to make this repair for 1800 dollars again you cant safely drive this car it takes everything I have to turn the steering wheel

The safety recall 19S54 is affecting my vehicle. It was made at the same plant at the approved date range as the other vehicles on the recall list but it seems my vehicle wasnt added to the list because it is a hybrid but it has the same exact issue as the non hybrid models

The contact owns a 2010 Mercury Milan. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 MPH, the "Service Traction Control" and “Power Steering Sensor” warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the steering wheel became difficult to turn to the left or the right. The contact was able to drive the vehicle back to the residence. The local dealer was contacted and sent an agent to the residence to drive the vehicle to the dealer. The vehicle was diagnosed, and it was determined that the power steering assist had failed, and the steering gears and rack, and pinion needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 60,562.

I collided with three parked vehicles and my airbags did not deploy causing me to hit my head

I experienced a loss of power steering while driving and a dash display "Service Power Steering Now" and "Service Advancetrac". The messages started just before the failure. The lack of power steering was a risk to everyone as the car could only be turned with significant effort and not respond to quick movement. The dash messages are still on after a restart and the car cannot be driven because of safety. My independent mechanic confirmed the issue and fix to be a bad rack. He noted the rack part number is the same as the 2011 Milan, currently under recall for this issue. However, the 2010 is not included.

Whenever the car engine isn't warm and I slam on the brakes, they barely respond. I have replaced the master cylinder, abs hydraulic module, brake booster, calipers, pads, and rotors, and it still has about 20% normal braking power when the engine is cold. Just got it back from the dealership again. Dealer said no vacuum leak found, no leaks found, abs module checks out fine, and said the check valve passed diagnostics. The problem remains. This has been ongoing for several years now. May have contributed to an accident in 2023. Not sure as my wife was driving. When the engine is warm, the brakes work perfectly.

My power steering light came on and then immediately the wheel got tight. I was unable to turn the wheel and then eventually the car is un drivable. There is a lot of complaints about this happening to thousands of cars and it is still under investigation. Imagin someone jumps out in front of you and you are stopping and unable to maneuver your car out of the way. By the grace of God I was able to do so. Please advise me when this recall is open.

My name is [XXX] and I own a 2010 Mercury Milan. I bought it on [XXX] from an 84 year old woman who take good care of it. It had 91,000 miles which were mostly hwy miles. She kept records of all her oil changes. After having it for almost 3 years and keeping up with it myself, on February 27,2024 in the morning I put brake fluid in the car. I had brake pads and rotors done on the car in August 2023. On the evening of [XXX], my son and I took a ride to the local 7/11 which is 5 minutes away. While driving home and coming to the traffic light at the beginning of my neighborhood the light turned red. As I proceeded to stop my foot went all the way to the ground and I had no brakes. I had to go through the light because i could not stop. The car was flying down the road because it is a very steep hill. I tried to pull the emergency brake and nothing happened. I was nearing the end of the road going 40 MPH due to the hill. I thought I was going to hit my neighbors house at the bottom of the hill. My son grabbed the steering wheel to turn it and I went up on my curb, across my lawn and crashed into a storage tent on my driveway. My car was wedged inside the tent which was filled with furniture and other belongings. I called Ford Corporation in reference to this recall from December 2019 for 2010 Mercury Milans. Then I spoke with a Ford dealership in Smithtown where they were rude and said the car was 14 years old and I may have to pay if they didn't find my car was part of the reca

After turning the car on one morning, an alert displayed on the dash saying "Power Steering Assist Fault" and "Service Advancetrac". I turned the car off, and back on, but the same message appeared. When driving, there is no power steering and it is difficult to turn the steering wheel. The Milan only has 110,000 miles. Ford needs to issue a recall as this is obviously a defect affecting many customers.

On May 10, 2024, as I was rounding a sharp curve, I applied brakes to slow down, but there were no brakes. In fact the brake pedal went to the floor. I had to use emergency brake to stop and gain my wits. I turned around and slowly drove home (about 0.5 miles) and used e-brake to stop and park in front of house. On May 21 I had vehicle towed to dealer. They found that the brake pedal was still against floorboard, but when they started vehicle, it came back up to normal position and was working fine. They could not duplicate the loss of brakes. My vehicle was manufactured within the date range of a TSB regarding hydraulic control unit and DOT3 brake fluid corrosion, but dealer says VIN not applicable to TSB. I am thinking of paying for new HCU anyway, just for my family's protection. I would like my VIN to be included in TSB repair.

I was driving home from Fargo ND to Fergus falls MN on Christmas Eve when a gust of wind blew me out of the tracks into the slush. My car slid of the road on the left side where I hit a guard rail with the front driver’s side hitting first. I bounced of the rail and drove it back on the road. The airbag never did deploy. I have a doctor appointment for my left hip on the 8th because it's hard for me to put on a sock. I have a police report and pictures but it will not let me upload them.

While I was driving check engine light, service wrench light came on also. The vehicle began to idle surge at stop light and when parked. Throttle response was reduced to minimal operation .Ran the codes code came up P2119 throttle body fault. Once vehicle cools down the light may shut off but does come back on while driving.

Periodically I would receive a a steering assist fault. Now my steering is completely out with the same warning. With the steering assist out the vehicle is very hard to steer and dangerous. There is a recall for 2010 Mariner and other ford vehicles but not the mercury with the same system. Also the 2011 Milan has recalls for this issue but want me to pay thousands to repair my 2010 It’s the same system and parts for this issue

The brake system went completely out. The brake pedal has no pressure and goes all the way to the floor. When looking online there are 197 complaints after reading through the first 9D all of them were about the ABS control module. All other repairs regarding to the brakes have already been made with the problem still not being fixed. there were no warning signs of this happening. The brake switch just went out when driving home one day. This has all been diagnosed by a private mechanic. The only thing left to change or repair is the ABS control module.

When starting to drive 2 days ago multiple braking warnings went off on the vehicle, including Advance Trac warnings. The vehicle became extremely difficult to stop, requiring high pressure on the pedal. It was able to be stopped safely as there was an empty parking lot nearby. It was taken to a Ford Dealership (Tri-County Ford) and diagnosed with a failure of the ABS Control Module. The part was confirmed by the dealer to be the same as in NHTSA recall # 19V904000 (Ford recall 19S54). Repair cost $1220, dealer advised calling Ford. I then called Ford who informed me that my specific VIN was not covered under the recall. There were no issues or warnings prior to this event. The worst part is that this is the second time such an serious incident has occurred with my vehicle which could have harmed or killed me or others. In 2019 the Power Steering failed spontaneously on the car while driving and again, the 2011 Milan Hybrid was covered but not my specific 2010 VIN (I filed a separate NHTSA complaint and sent a letter to Ford yet there were multiple reports prior, and multiple similar reports since then, sadly). I have now experienced two major safety events with the vehicle. Thankfully I was very fortunate to walk away from both (at a combined cost of $3000), yet these should have been corrected by Ford and covered under recalls.
