An Intoxalock ignition interlock device was installed in my 2023 Mercedes-Benz E-Class on May 7, 2026. Following installation, the vehicle experienced repeated electrical/no-start problems and incidents in which it became immobilized and could not be moved, requiring towing. On one occasion the vehicle became disabled on a roadway/highway, leaving me in a dangerous position with traffic passing around me. When the vehicle is immobilized, I cannot simply move it to a safe location, and Intoxalock has not been able to restore vehicle operation remotely. I have had to wait for towing assistance, sometimes for extended periods. Independent diagnostic/service facilities have evaluated the vehicle. One attributed battery drain to the Intoxalock-related problem. Another attributed starter damage to it. Service documentation also reflects diagnosis of the Intoxalock system and reinstallation/reconnection of the device and wiring. Documentation is available, and the equipment/vehicle can be made available for inspection upon request. The vehicle now displays numerous dashboard warning lights and is not operating normally. Safety-related systems are malfunctioning, including ABS, parking assistance, camera functions, and automatic braking/collision-avoidance functions that previously operated normally. I am concerned that the Intoxalock device, its installation/wiring, or its interaction with this vehicle’s electrical/electronic systems may be contributing to these failures. I am reque

Service Brakes
Filed Feb 7, 2026TX
I am a small auto repair shop, in Houston, Texas. The driver's (left) side rear brake caliper bracket appears to be defective. The car came in with the mental to metal break wear on the driver's side, while the passenger's side brake pads still at 50% life. The break wear sensor didn't trigger the light, because there is only one sensor on the passenger side. Upon further investigation found that the inner brake pad was catching on the caliper bracket. Same was true for the new brake pad set as well. Fault appears to be in the caliper bracket. This could be a designed flaw by the manufacture., if so, it is your responsibility to get them.

This is the second report filing about the trunk lid closing without initiating the automatic closure. In order to keep this record accurate, the vehicle was brought into the Mercedes Benz dealer, (where it was purchased), on May 23, 2023. The service advisor came to the car to instruct me on how to use the mechanism. He was unable to operate it correctly either. The car was also brought in for other needed repairs. When the car was returned to me on May30th, this same service advisor reported to me that the dealership was unable to correct the problem with the trunk lid mechanism. On June 12, when I was retrieving some items from my trunk, NOT using the automatic mechanism, the trunk lid unexpectedly crashed down and struck me in the head. I experienced headache and bruise on the back of my head. The salesman and administrative team at the dealership said they declined to return my phone calls, or speak directly with me about this matter, due to fear of being sued.

May 4, 2023 at approximately 5:45 PM, while reaching into the trunk of my car, the trunk lid came crashing down on me. To avoid being struck on the head, I blocked it with me left forearm. The trunk lid caused a large nasty and painful wound. I immediately texted my sales person, and text him a picture of my injury. I also left a voicemail message for him at the dealership. Unfortunately, this is not the first time the issue with the truck lid has happened to me. On another occasion, while reaching into the trunk, I was able to avoid being struck by the trunk lid, when it unexpectedly came crashing down. At approximately 8:50 AM, on May 5, 2023, a follow-up call was made to the dealership since my salesman did not return my call. The male who I spoke to about this serious safety issue assured me that I would receive a return call the same day and listed three male supervisors by name. Since I did not receive this promised return call, I made an appointment with the service department to document this dangerous issue. OF NOTE: my feet were not under the rear pumper to activate the trunk lid, and the obstacle feature failed to stop the lid from crashing down.
No unusual pattern of severe incidents in the complaint record.
Complaint counts track how many cars were sold and how long they have been on the road as much as they track quality. A common model from 2013 has had a decade to accumulate reports; a rare one from last year has not. The signal worth weighing is in the severity columns, in whether the same component keeps appearing, and in whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
Recall repairs are free for as long as the recall stands. Check whether a specific car still has open work at NHTSA's VIN lookup.
