I am reporting a recurring safety-related issue with my 2024 Mazda CX-90 Turbo S Premium involving the mild hybrid system. The first failure occurred at approximately 28,000 miles. While driving, the vehicle displayed multiple warning messages, including "Mild Hybrid Battery Malfunction," "i-Stop Malfunction," and "Engine Malfunction." Shortly afterward, the vehicle entered a reduced-power (limp mode) condition. The loss of normal power made it difficult to safely accelerate and keep pace with surrounding traffic, creating a significant safety concern. The dealership diagnosed the vehicle and replaced the mild hybrid battery. My vehicle remained out of service for approximately one month while repairs were completed. At approximately 56,000–58,000 miles, the same problem occurred again. The vehicle once again displayed the "Mild Hybrid Battery Malfunction," "i-Stop Malfunction," and "Engine Malfunction" warning messages and again entered reduced-power mode while driving. The repeated loss of power created another serious safety concern because the vehicle could not accelerate normally when merging into traffic or driving on higher-speed roads. After diagnosing the second failure, the dealership informed me that, in addition to replacing the mild hybrid battery, corrosion had been found in the wiring harness and internal wiring associated with the hybrid battery system. Those components also required replacement. Due to parts availability, my vehicle remained at the dealership

The contact owns a 2024 Mazda CX-90. The contact stated that while her husband was driving 70 MPH with the cruise control activated, her husband attempted to deactivate the cruise control before exiting the highway; however, the cruise control failed to deactivate. The brake pedal was depressed, but the brakes failed to stop the vehicle. The contact's husband exited the highway and drove into the median to avoid crashing with other vehicles. The driver turned the steering wheel, causing the vehicle to flip and then slam into the ground, fracturing both axles. The cruise control then deactivated. The contact stated that only the front driver's side air bags deployed. The driver suffered hip and arm bruises, while the contact suffered a lump on the head, and as bruises on the collarbone and arm. The driver received medical attention at the scene, but the contact declined. A Police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard but had not yet been declared a total loss by the insurance company. The contact stated that prior to the failure, the message "Trailer Attached in Tow Mode" was displayed and the vehicle was taken to the dealer, who replaced the wiring harness due to corrosion. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.

Campaign 6524A Recall was completed in JUNE 2024. The recall repair has now failed and the steering is sticking/malfunctioning when you turn the steering wheel. Reliable Mazda dealership in Springfield Missouri informed me yesterday the recall was already completed and now I will be responsibility for the bill to repair the failed RECALL repair. Which the repair was a new spring and grease.... The car is not safe to drive. The steering wheel sticks and you have to forcefully jerk the wheel to center the steering wheel again. We do not have the money to pay nearly $4,000 to repair a failed recall that Mazda should take care of.

While the vehicle was being driven under normal operating conditions, the driver's front seatbelt lower lap anchor completely broke loose and separated from the lower vehicle frame sill. The structural metal anchor plate at the end of the belt is now swinging completely free, and the plastic door-sill trim molding at the base of the door opening is completely broken from the force of the separation, exposing the underlying wiring. Because the primary safety restraint system completely failed and detached from the vehicle body, the vehicle was immediately deemed unsafe to drive and was towed directly to Westshore Mazda in Tampa, Florida for inspection

When curving left my steering wheel will get “stuck”. It becomes heavy and then jerks back like it just “unlocked”. I haven’t had to pull it back forcefully, yet, but I’m sure it’s not far off. Went to Mazda dealership who state it’s mechanically related to a rack and pinion within the steering components. My car was part of the initial “sticky steering” recall which the previous owner had done in March of 2024. Happy to allow inspection if needed. My safety, along with the safety of others, is at risk anytime I travel along a curve where I could cross into on coming traffic because I am unable to forcefully move my steering wheel out of the “sticking” position. Potentially deadly. Mainly notice it around speeds of 45+ regardless of weather.

"Sticky Steering" was fixed under a recall during a previous owner of my car. The issue has reappeared causing the steering wheel to stick when making turns or adjustments. The steering wheel often fails to retun to center on its own while driving down the road, and requires force to unstick it. This obviously creates a safety risk as the steering can be unpredictable while driving. The issue has not yet been inspected as I am waiting to find out if it will be addressed under warranty, though it is a known issue and concern with this vehicle. Not warnings or messages have appeared prior to this issue.

I am writing to formally notify you that I have officially filed comprehensive complaints with the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration), the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance (TDCI, Case #202604748), and the Better Business Bureau (BBB) regarding Wyatt Johnson Mazda. I am submitting my vehicle's official Warranty Vehicle Inquiry Report as evidence of consistent technical issues and mismanagement by Wyatt Johnson Mazda. Please note the following: History of Repeated Technical Issues: The Warranty History shows a long list of repairs, including PCM/TCM reprogramming and other electronic service actions performed by the same dealer. This demonstrates that the vehicle has had ongoing, recurring technical problems that the dealer was well aware of. Contradiction in Dealership's Claims: Despite this extensive record of technical service, when I brought the vehicle in for the steering issue, the dealer claimed there was "no issue." This report clearly proves the dealer has been documenting and performing technical service on this specific VIN since 2023, making their claim of "no issue" highly suspicious and professionally negligent. Evidence of Neglect: The report confirms that my vehicle has been serviced exclusively by this dealer (Dealer 24014). They have full knowledge of the vehicle’s history, yet they chose to ignore the steering defect and attempted to charge me for a repair that should have been addressed under recall or warranty consideration

There was a recall issued within the last year for my make and model vehicle, in March 2026, it was fixed when my car was towed to a Mazda dealership due to a check engine light and "hybrid engine malfunction". On June 24, 2026, the vehicle went into limp mode, the error message resolved upon turning off the vehicle. There were no check engine lights that appeared. On June 25, 2026, the vehicle went into limp mode on I-5 in traffic. We were able to safely get the vehicle to a safe location out of traffic. The error code on dash was "hybrid engine malfunction" again. The radiator was replaced at a second Mazda dealership, we were told "that should fix the problem". There was no indication the radiator needed replaced due to no fluids leaking and no overheating of the vehicle. The battery did fail during this visit. On June 26, 2026, when we were on I-90 in traffic again, the vehicle went into limp mode again with the same hybrid engine malfunction warning. The vehicle was towed to a third Mazda dealership to finally have the hybrid battery finally replaced. The only warnings were when we went into limp mode, no dash lights or check engine lights, nor overheating. The safety of my family was put at risk due to the vehicle decelerating from 75 mph to 35 mph in the fast lane of traffic twice. Mazda has done all service repairs and recalls.

The vehicle lurched to a complete stop and engaged the parking brake while entering the on ramp at FDR bridge in NYC. I had my whole family (7 of us) in the vehicle. Cars behind us had to slam on the brakes or swear to not hit us. The worst part is, the car had no option to put it into neutral to move the vehicle to a safe location. I sat praying for 45 minutes while we waited for a tow truck. Cars were flying past us as we were blocking 2 lanes of traffic, one of which was the on ramp. They could not see us as they were coming around a corner. Several accidents almost happened. There was nothing we could do but sit there. This is a known issue with Mazda CX 90 2024 PHEV system. Mazda did not warn me in any way that if the vehicle has an issue with the PHEV system, it was going to disable the vehicle to the point that you are unable to put it into neutral. There was no way to disengage the parking break. The vehicle was towed twice with the break engaged.

At a speed of 45mph, the vehicle suddenly went into limp mode. the car turned off and luckily i was able to pull over into a safe area. again i experienced the door locking from the inside. all issues and solutions have been documented at dealer services. these issues are of great concern and potentially could have been harmful or fatal. i no longer have trust in this model or company.

On May 2, 2026, I took my 2024 Mazda CX‑90 to Mazda of Orange because the steering wheel was getting stuck and there was a loud chirping noise when turning the car on and off. The dealership kept my car for 28 days. When I picked it up, they told me the noise was fixed. After three days, the noise returned. The next morning, the car would not start, so I had to jump it and take it back. They said it was the brake assembly line and claimed it was safe to drive when it wasn’t. They also said the bottom battery was giving errors. I had already replaced the top battery in April 2026 for $300, and they replaced the bottom one under warranty. When I brought it in, all dashboard warning lights were on, and the car warned me not to drive over 30 mph. They replaced the battery again but could not explain the warning lights. This was my sixth visit, and they kept blaming rain or fog even when the weather was clear. Two weeks after getting the car back, all warning lights came on again on [XXX]. At [XXX], while taking my husband to the airport, I was afraid to turn the car off. I hit a bump, the lights turned off, then came back on — which makes me think there is an electrical short. The front passenger occupant detection system and seatbelt warning system may not function properly for lighter-weight passengers in the Mazda CX-90. When a front-seat passenger weighs approx. 90 pounds or less, the vehicle may not recognize that the passenger is present. In these situations: • The passenger airbag remains OFF. • No seatbelt warning or audible seatbelt alert is activated when the passenger is unbelted. • “Fasten Passenger Seatbelt” warning alarm is generated when the passenger exits the vehicle, the driver continues driving and seat is empty. This behavior has been repeatedly demonstrated and is easily reproducible. The same condition was also reproduced in a new 2026 Mazda CX-90 directly from a dealership lot and in a 2026 Mazda CX-90 loaner, suggesting this is not an isolated vehicle issue. My vehicle has been presented for service four times at three different Mazda dealerships. Technicians have observed the condition, Mazda regional technicians were consulted, and a manufacturer-recommended reconfiguration/recalibration procedure was performed. The condition remains unresolved. No diagnostic trouble codes are generated when this occurs. Because no fault codes are present, no repair has been offered. On March 27, 2026, while driving approximately 20-35 mph on a city street in clear daytime conditions, my vehicle unexpectedly activated Smart Brake Support (SBS) and applied the brakes hard enough to bring the vehicle to a complete stop. There was no vehicle directly in front of me and no obvious obstruction that would have required emergency braking. Immediately prior to braking, the vehicle displayed brake warnings and alerts inside the cabin. The sudden braking created a safety risk because the vehicle came to a complete stop in an active travel lane without warning. Had another vehicle been following closely, a rear-end collision could have occurred. The event was reported to my Mazda dealership, Herzog-Meier Mazda, on March 30, 2026, the next business day after it occurred. The dealership advised that the vehicle should not have behaved this way because the applicable software update related to the Smart Brake Support system had already been installed. The vehicle was subsequently returned to the dealership for further investigation on April 22, 2026, and remained there for an extended period while Mazda reviewed the incident. Mazda regional technical personnel reviewed vehicle data and confirmed that Smart Brake Support activated during the event. While driving, the vehicle experiences dangerous episodes of what is widely known as "sticky steering." Specifically, when initiating a sweeping left-hand turn, the steering wheel hits a point of sudden mechanical resistance, requiring an unexpected and sudden increase in steering effort to turn the wheel. When trying to maintain or exit the turn, this resistance causes the steering wheel to bind and pull to the right, requiring forceful manual over-correction to keep the vehicle in its lane and prevent a crash. This is an intermittent but recurring mechanical failure that completely disrupts smooth steering operation. It matches the exact profile of the ongoing NHTSA Recall Query into the failure of Mazda's original Recall 24V022 (Campaign 6524A) remedy.

It first happened when I turned right and took a good amount of force to unstick it, and then it happened maybe 3 more times when making minor adjustments or making turns going left or right. It felt extremely unsafe to me and could cause serious accident. I called our sales agent immediately to let them know that I would like this looked at and addressed by the service department. I am reporting a persistent steering problem with my 2024 Mazda CX-90. While driving, especially when the highway bends to the left, the steering wheel feels like it sticks or partially locks at a certain left-turn position. When I try to return the steering wheel back toward center to continue straight, I have to apply extra force to overcome the resistance. Once it breaks free, the steering returns, but the sticking creates an unsafe delay and unexpected steering effort. The problem is persistent and has happened repeatedly, not just one time. It is most noticeable when coming out of a left curve. If I steer farther left, it may not bind the same way, but at a certain steering angle it catches or sticks. This creates a safety risk because the vehicle may not smoothly return to straight-ahead steering after a curve, especially at highway speed. The unexpected resistance could cause overcorrection, lane departure, or loss of control. There were no warning lights or dashboard messages before or during the issue. The vehicle has not been repaired for this issue. A Mazda dealer stated there are no open recalls for the vehicle, but the symptom appears similar to reported CX-90 sticky steering / increased steering effort complaints and the prior Mazda steering recall campaign involving the steering gear/worm gear assembly. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The failed or malfunctioning system appears to be the steering system, possibly the electric power steerin
