I OWN A 1995 LEXUS GS300 THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ON SUSPENSION FRONT ARM LOWER BALL JOINT FOR EVERY YEAR OF THE FIRST GENERATION GS300 1993-1997. SOMEHOW MY LEXUS GS300 DID NOT MAKE THE RECALL, BECAUSE MY VIN# DID NOT FALL WITHIN THE RANGE. 12/21/2007 WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK MY DRIVERSIDE FRONT WHEEL SEPARATE AT THE BALL JOINT. FORTUNATELY I WAS NOT HURT, AND I WASN'T ON THE HIGHWAY, BUT THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A POTENTIAL HAZARDOUS SITUATION. I HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED TO THE NEAREST LEXUS DEALER, BUT I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS TO THE FRONT BALL JOINT ON MY VEHICLE. *TR

Reading this record

No unusual pattern of severe incidents in the complaint record.

Complaint counts track how many cars were sold and how long they have been on the road as much as they track quality. A common model from 2013 has had a decade to accumulate reports; a rare one from last year has not. The signal worth weighing is in the severity columns, in whether the same component keeps appearing, and in whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.

Most recent recall on file: none. Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation.
