2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4Xe

Defect. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2021-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L, 2022-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and Jeep Grand Cherokee 4XE vehicles. The rear coil springs may be incorrectly installed and detach from the vehicle while driving.

Risk. Rear coil springs that detach from the vehicle while driving increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will replace the rear coil spring lower isolators, free of charge. Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, are expected to be mailed September 29, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 89D. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will become searchable on NHTSA.gov on September 9, 2026. This recall replaces NHTSA recall numbers 26V051 and 23V413. Vehicles already repaired under the previous recalls will need to have the new remedy completed.

Defect. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2023-2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4XE and 2024-2025 Jeep Wrangler 4XE Plug-In Hybrid Electric (PHEV) vehicles. Debris inside the engine may cause engine failure, which can result in a loss of drive power and/or an engine compartment fire.

Risk. A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash, and a vehicle fire can increase the risk of injury.

Remedy. Dealers will install a software update and replace the block or engine as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed beginning May 7, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is 78C. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning November 13, 2025.

Defect. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2020-2024 Jeep Wrangler 4XE and 2022-2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4XE vehicles. The high voltage battery may fail internally and lead to a vehicle fire while parked or driving.

Risk. A vehicle fire while parked or driving can increase the risk of injury.

Remedy. This recall is replaced by NHTSA recall number 25V741. Vehicles already repaired under this recall will need to have the new remedy completed. Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures, and not to recharge their vehicles until they are repaired. Dealers will update the high voltage battery pack software and replace the battery pack assembly, if necessary, free of charge. Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed October 11, 2024. Owner notification letters were mailed beginning December 2024. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is 95B. Vehicles in this recall that were previously recalled for the same issue under NHTSA Recall 23V-787 will need to have the new remedy performed.

The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4XE. The contact stated that while out of town, the vehicle was parked at the residence; however, neighbors informed the contact that the vehicle had caught fire overnight. The local fire department responded to the scene and extinguished the fire. A fire department report was filed. The vehicle was completely burned; however, the vehicle had not yet been evaluated by the insurance company. The contact stated that the security camera footage indicated that the fire had started under the passenger’s side hood. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure through voicemail messages. The contact discovered that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V741000 (Electrical System). The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

GoodYear 265/60R18, Morning NHTSA, i had these 4 tires inspected by good year, the 4xe trailhawk has 28,000 miles but the tires are very low because of the wait of the phev it slides it very harder to stop because the traction is so bad, sometimes i feel like i have a pickup truck with no because it slips so much is can be a little sand or not level road. To me its very un safe because these are not EV tires, these tires should be on the conventional suv what there are really made for, at low speed its bad.

The manufacturer was notified of the failure and confirmed that the brakes failed to engage. The failure mileage was approximately 22,000.

No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, no cause for the failure was found. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 16,000.

On multiple occasions my 2024 Grand Cherokee 4XE will flash "Service Hybrid System" and cut out while driving. Brakes, steering, and other functions are severely limited on these occurences. I have brought this issue up with the Jeep dealership every time the incident happens and they always ask if there are any lights on. No lights stay on, the engine and all systems just cut out. Tried contacting Jeep corporate help line and never get anywhere with them. I would like to turn the vehicle in, but they will not allow me to do so as they can never seem to find anything wrong with it, since it shows no codes.

The vehicle lights up a red wrench with a lightning bolt through it and then alerts to a "service hybrid electric vehicle system" message. This light stays on from either a few seconds to several minuets before turning off. There is no consistency as to when the warning illuminates. Every time it has come on has been at highway speeds. There is fear that the vehicle is going to lose power and/or propulsion while at a high speed. This feels like a danger to myself, my occupants, and others on the road.

The contact rented a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving 60 MPH, smoke was emitting from under the hood and entered the vehicle through the A/C vents. Other drivers were also waving down the contact attempting to notify there was smoke. The contact pulled over to the side of and immediately exited the vehicle. Shortly after there was an explosion and the vehicle caught on fire. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact and his daughter did not sustain any injuries. None of the air bags deployed. The Fire and Police Departments were called. A police report was filed. The vehicle was consumed by the fire and destroyed. The vehicle was towed to an unknown location. The origin of the fire was the engine. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The contact notified the insurance company. The failure mileage was unknown.

Vehicle shut down completely while in the left lane of the highway. Thankfully she was able to maneuver it to the shoulder and started it back up and continued on. At 4 AM. Another four days later, the Jeep failed to start in the parking lot of work. Threw every code, including the "red wrench"- service hybrid electric vehicle system, check engine light and other others. We abandoned it in the parking lot and checked the next morning. It started on a whim still with every light on. We were able to get it to the dealership where it has been since January 24. When we went to pick it up today, they told us it was ready to go and it road tested good with no lights on. When we got in it to leave, the red wrench and check engine light went back on. They don't know what the problem is. This was replicated by the dealership and the invoice states: "Vehicle will not move. Pushed into shop".

Since leasing my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe in July 2023, I’ve encountered severe and ongoing safety, quality, and performance issues that remain unresolved despite multiple service visits and direct contact with Chrysler customer care. The vehicle has consistently proven unreliable and unsafe, posing risks to my family and others. Key safety concerns include: Trunk Liftgate Malfunction: The liftgate closes on its own, even with foot control disabled, failing to stop when obstructed, causing injuries to my [XXX] son and me. Proximity Sensor Failures: The sensors randomly lock the brakes with no obstacles and fail to warn of actual hazards. Steering Wheel Adjustment Failure: The steering wheel became stuck in the highest position and couldn’t be readjusted. Gear Shifting Issues: In eSave mode, gears fail to shift above 40 mph, and at times, the vehicle won’t shift out of park without multiple restarts. Defective Environmental Controls: The heater once failed during a 20°F drive, blowing only cold air for nearly two hours. Electronic Malfunctions: Random driver profile resets, faulty tire pressure sensors, unreliable remote start, Bluetooth/auxiliary port failures, and phantom Bluetooth devices. These issues put my family in direct harm and have not been resolved despite dealer inspections. Warning lights, alerts, and system failures occur intermittently, often without prior notice. I have extensive documentation, videos, and service records confirming these ongoing issues. G

Major warning lights appeared on dash. Vehicle began presenting messages stating to service vehicle systems. Power steering, traction control, and emergency braking were among those listed. Vehicle was at a 60% state of charge with 95% fuel. Engine ran, but other major vehicle systems would not engage. Attempted to reverse the vehicle to see if it would move and it accelerated abnormally fast in reverse. The vehicle stated hybrid mode and ready, but was not in an operable state. The issue persisted between restarts and idling sessions.

On February 10, 2025 at approximately 4:45 EST, I was driving approximately 55MPH in the far left lane of a multi-lane highway when I received a notice that my hybrid propulsion system had malfunctioned. Upon receiving the notice, I immediately lost power/propulsion of my vehicle although the warning notice disappeared and the screen made it appear that the vehicle was operating. As I pressed the gas pedal, I noted that there was no power being provided to the powertrain and I had to progressively move to the right to find a safe spot to stop. Upon stopping, the warning re-appeared and informed me to put the car in park and turn it off and restart the vehicle. At the time of failure, the battery had a remaining charge of 10% and 3/4 tank of gas. Upon restart, the vehicle functioned as normal using the gasoline powered engine. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. My safety was put at risk due to the loss of power in an area where most vehicles were operating near 55 MPH. The computer warning about the malfunction was confusing and it disappeared relatively quickly leading to significant confusion about how to operate the vehicle especially given that the dashboard returned to a normal state. The problem has not yet been reported to a dealer as they were closed for service. There were no warning lamps, messages, or symptoms prior to the failure other than the short warning that appeared at the start of the loss of power and referenced above.

I was driving on a local road going 35-40 mph, when SUV shut off (no power). I maneuvered to the shoulder, and tried to restart, which it did. The hybrid was near the end of the charged battery mode, when this happened. I purchase the Grand Cherokee 4XE (new) in May 2024, and recently had the battery replaced due to a safety recall. This is the first time I lost power while driving. The car has been at the dealer’s for two days, and they have not found the problem. There was no error code, and they could not replicate the loss of power.

I HAVE AN ON GOING UNREPAIRED RECALL ON THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, CHARGING SYSTEM AND POSSIBLY THE BATTERY. WHEN APPLY THE BRAKE TO START MY JEEP THE BRAKES SOMETIMES ARE LOCKED UP AND I HAVE TO PUSH THE START BUTTON A FEW TIMES TO RELEASE THEM. I WAS TOLD THAT WAS NORMAL AT THE DEALERSHIP.

I have a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe with approx 15,600 miles.I had just finished pumping gas and started the vehicle. Put vehicle in drive and noticed the steering wheel would not turn. Turned car off and on and still nothing. Tried again this time power steering had returned. The check engine light is now on. Drove car home. Called dealership next morning and was told couldn’t get car in for three weeks. I feel this car is unsafe to drive!

The vehicle has no heating, I’ve taken the vehicle multiple times to the dealership From September 2024 and to date January 2025, the vehicle has been in the dealership since December, multiple attempts has been made to fix the heating system including replacing parts one of them being a valve. Vehicle is still not working after replacement of parts, the engineering company called “Star Engineering” are involved at this point and they are still continuing to fix the car. The electrical component of this car is not working properly. This car is only 1 year old and it is a hybrid 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee purchased brand new. In 2023 after 2 weeks of leading this vehicle, the cars steering wheel froze and I was unable to drive it, I had to get the vehicle towed to the dealership. This is a major safety issue especially if you have children in the car, at the time I had my [XXX] in the vehicle, unable to drive it. Recently, temperatures have dropped significantly in November here in Massachusetts, and I had to drive with my toddler with no heat, in freezing temperatures and cover my child with a blanket. I was told by the dealership service staff that I needed to clean my car so the heat can work, after vacuuming my car I dropped it off again December and showed them for the 5th time that the car is blowing cold air, while the heating temperature is max and “hot”. In November, on a random day I arrived home and the car engine did not want to turn off after pressing the “off” butt
