I was driving my kids to school when the driver seat moved forward on its own and pushed me against the steering wheel. I was able to remain calm and thankfully and move the seat back. Very scary.

Recall Number: 24V-720 Urgent/High Risk for Electric Battery to catch fire while being driven OR parked. Jeep currently has NO remedy for this recall which is designated as an URGENT fire risk when parked. The estimated wait time for a remedy is "months." Jeep has provided no options to the vehicle lessee to ensure operator safety- Jeep/Chrysler is not offering a trade-in option or an alternative vehicle to the vehicle operator at this time. Jeep/Chrysler has not equipped local dealerships with any viable options for owners/lessees to guarantee their safety while a remedy is being researched and formulated. Jeep/Chrysler was contacted and a recall case number was created for my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee - Lessee was told over the phone that I would receive communication from the Jeep battery recall team in 1-2 business days on October 4, 2024. No communication has been received to date. No warming lamps or messages received until October 4, 2024, with no remedy available.
The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact became aware that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V720000 (Electrical System); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and a case was opened. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
I was on my driveway getting ready to park and the parking brake engaged by itself. I came out of the car because I thought I had a flat but once I got back in the car, I saw the brake line was on. I called a friend with the same car and told him what happened. He told me to step on the brake and release the parking brake. I asked him where it was because I've never used it before. I did as he says and released the parking brake. This could have been catastrophic if I was on the freeway or driving on surface streets. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle anymore.
This is a hybrid motor. All dash error lights come on without warning, and the car becomes immediately disabled and cannot be moved. The transmission is locked.
The driver seatback (backrest) moves forward spontaneously while driving, and will pin the driver against the steering wheel if you don't press the backrest control button on the side of the seat again. This is incredibly dangerous and unacceptable. This is the second time I will bring in the car to the dealer to address this SAME issue.
4xe. Have had at least 3 episodes where - while driving- engine switches itself from Electric to Hybrid Mode saying that "Electric Mode is Unavailable". Shortly thereafter, while in Hybrid mode, I press the accelerator and engine seems to rev fast, but there is greatly diminished power. I have to pull off the road and restart car and everything works fine. I have done all of the recall work. Changed oil. This is a rare occurrence, do not think it is a mechanical issue, feel like maybe a hybrid software issue.
My vehicle displayed a AWD service indicator - took in replaced a module. Same indicator came on 3 months later and needed a front axle disconnect replaced. I only do normal street driving and my vehicle has under 30k miles. All repairs including recalls done at jeep dealer 5 including recalls
I received a safety recall letter in the mail. I made an appointment at the South Shore Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Service center in Inwood, NY for the repair of the recall and to change the oil. I specifically made the appointment for the recall (I keep getting notifications to repair) I went to the service center (1 hour drive from my home) on May 18,2024 (when I called to check in for the appointment “Shanty” told me that there’s no appointment scheduled for me, even though I got a text message confirming the appointment) Nevertheless, I went anyways. When I provided the recall letter to the representative, he told me that the service team can only do an oil change and can’t repair the defrost that day. So, after waiting for the oil change, I asked when I can come back for the recall repair, the representative told me that they need to get the parts first. I also notified the rep. that my parking rear view camera doesn’t turn on sometimes when in R and sometimes the screen goes black while I’m in the middle of parking. They ended up letting me go and drive with the recall STILL active. On June 19, 2024, I read on Fox Business that Stellantis is recalling Jeeps due to rear view camera defects. I called the dealer who sold me the car (apparently he no longer works at Jeep) I spoke to a different representative, she gave me the phone number to MOPAR and STELLANTIS - nothing else. Throughout the entire time of driving this car, I’ve been experiencing total discomfort. The car con
The dealer sold the vehicle as new with an open recall. It was sold on 2-24-24 with recall 24V132000 from 2-22-24 unremedied. The dealer failed to disclose the safety recall, putting me at risk on a road trip back to my home state.
My partner and I were driving from Oakland, CA to Petaluma, CA on [XXX], 2024. While driving approximately 75 mph the car shut down and i had to guide it to the side of the highway. It was frightening and we were almost was hit by passing traffic. The display screen and electrical system were going haywire - turtle sign to check engine to random messages stating the car was OK to start. After about 25 minutes, the car started on its own. At the time of the incident, there was just under a half tank of gas. In the weeks since, the car has randomly shutoff and turned itself back on. A nearby Jeep dealer in San Leandro, CA indicated he has heard of similar issue with other Jeep Grand Cherokees. Having read about this I do not trust Jeep as their response was "oh this happens with the 4xe." We purchased this vehicle in August of 2023 and have approximately 6400 miles on it. Fully maintained and no warning lights. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Clunking noise from left front.
While driving home yesterday, the High Engine Temp alarm came on. This was just north of Virginia City, NV. I pulled the vehicle over and immediately smelled hot coolant when I exited the vehicle. I lifted the hood, and there was no coolant in the reservoir. I left the hood open and latched with the safety catch while I returned to Virginia City to the local market. The trip was mostly down hill so little excess strain was put on the engine. I bought some coolant and tried to refill the system. While I was doing this with the engine running, my son looked underneath and saw coolant streaming to the ground underneath the vehicle. We called AAA for a tow to get the Jeep to the dealership where I bought it yesterday eveing. I called and spoke to the Service Tech explaining my Jeep was at the dealership and why. I subsequently received a phone call from the Tech. He explained the water pump had "exploded." He informed me they did not have the part but could get one tomorrow morning and have my Jeep ready for tomorrow afternoon. He also stated he nor the mechanic had ever seen anything like this. This is the second incident report I have made on this vehicle for parts failing that no one had ever seen fail before. The first was for a rear brake caliper taht broke at the mount. I bought this vehicle last September new. I am concerned this is only the beginning of significant issues this make and model will experience.
The Stalantis manufacturer of 2023 JEEP vehicles has modified its steering/transmission controls to cause a safety concern. On the steering wheel are two “Auto Stick” (aka “paddles”) which when touched switch the transmission from automatic to manual. The “auto stick” controls are marked (-) minus on the left side of the steering wheel and (+) on the right side. Beneath them are the controls for the radio (or other media). These are “buttons” on the left that control the channels (up & down) for the radio. On the right side they control the volume. The safety concern is that the “auto stick” can be easily hit at the same time when attempting to use the radio controls and it will immediately shift the transmission from automatic to manual. The auto-stick control can also be inadvertently hit when using the steering wheel in a normal manner. This is dangerous. The vehicle can go into a lower gear and the engine can hit the “red” line as it becomes stuck in only one gear. The vehicle becomes difficult to control unless the driver can immediately sense the manual transmission and then hit the proper paddle a number of times to gain control. I have had to pull over to the side of the road a number of times and turn off the vehicle and wait 60 seconds for it to reset to the automatic transmission upon restart. Prior to the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland design, the “auto stick” controls could be disabled by the driver using the electronic screen and setting it to “disable” the p
Jeep has defective transmissions in several 4xe models and not recalling - still selling these cars knowing transmissions are bad causing several issues for customers and major safety concern
Left rear caliper bracket broke on my 2023 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk 4xe. The lower caliper bracket bolt was completely loose causing damage to caliper bracket, brake pads, and rotor. Caliper bracket,, pads, and rotor were replaced at dealer as well as items in Safety Recall 10B.
Dear Administration, I am writing to bring to your immediate attention a potentially life-threatening issue regarding the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4XE Overlander, which I purchased from Route 18 Jeep Chrysler dealership in New Jersey in June of 2023. The car in question has a critical flaw that poses a significant danger to both the driver and pedestrians. Specifically, there is a glaring reflection cast onto the Windshield directly In front of the driver, blocking visibility of the road. This appears to be coming from the head-up display device located on the mirror, which obstructs the driver's view of the road. The glare I'm referring to. Will change several times during a day? Depending on the direction, you're going time of day or night and the external environment. It's impossible to drive the car through a tunnel lights on both sides of the roadway, it becomes very difficult to drive the car in the evening in the city environment, with light illuminating overhead on a street way. It's easier during midday but very difficult in early evening, we're early morning. This obstruction makes it nearly impossible to operate the vehicle safely and creates hazardous conditions for everyone on the road. Despite bringing this issue to the attention of multiple Jeep service stations, as well as Jeep Wave, the manufacturer's department, I have received no acknowledgment of the danger from them. They have simply stated that this is how the automobile was manufactured, particularly fo
The vehicle was leased in December 2023. At time of delivery the vehicle was making a clicking and clunking sound when turning. It took over a month to get an appointment to get the vehicle looked at. With 2,800 miles the vehicle was diagnosed with a right axle shaft. It took over two weeks for the parts to be delivered and replaced. The vehicle was picked up after 16 days and the issue persisted. Again, it took nearly a month for an appointment. The vehicle was with the dealer for 6 days and was not able to find diagnose an issue. The vehicle was picked up and the next day was returned to the dealer for the same issue. This time it was confirmed there is an undiagnosed steering/suspension problem. Also during this visit the check engine light illuminated. The fault was a hybrid battery cooling system failure. The dealer is unable to complete any work on the vehicle and a new service appointment was scheduled in 4 days. This will be the third attempt to fix this steering/suspension issue. Jeep corporate was notified with the first service visit and again with the second visit. They have since stopped communicating with me to come to a resolution for these safety issues. There is an open recall for steering bolts, I was notified that Jeep is rationing these parts and only allowing 1 vehicle per week per dealer to be repaired. I was told it could be months before this recall is able to be completed.
The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V132000 (Suspension, Steering) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was not contacted and informed the contact that there was a waiting list that ranged from 80 - 120 days. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit. The contact received notifications of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 24V111000 (Visibility) and 24V132000 (Suspension, Steering) however, the parts to do the recall repair were not yet available. An unknown local dealer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
When crossing the border into Mexico the AEB module falsely reports it has malfunctioned due to "geo fence" limitations. At least that is the cause of the issue per the service department. This causes the AEB system to stay offline and inoperable which also affects the Lane Departure Warning System as well as prevents the use of Adaptive Cruise Control. Supposedly there will be a "Software Update" coming--it was supposed to happen in Q4 of 2023 and now they say Q1 2024 which has ended and no update. The safety of the vehicle is compromised as key safety features are offline.
The memory seats do. It work properly. The seat position is never the same.
The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that after purchasing the vehicle brand new and driving to the residence, he became aware that the owner's manual was missing information for hybrid system operation. The dealer was notified of the failure and confirmed that the owner's manual was designed for the vehicle, The manufacturer was contacted and informed the contact that the supplemental information for the hybrid system operation was available on the manufacturer's website. The failure mileage was approximately 75. The contact stated that the jeep Grand Cherokee “hybrid supplement” manual does exist and was sent to him. making the situation all the more confusing and frustrating to the consumer.
Cannot get accurate information from manufacturer about safety recall 24V-132. Both the FCA website and NHTSA date the recall at 2-22-24, which places it before my sales date. They keep providing conflicting information about the date of this recall, which has left me confused and uncertain able the safety of my new vehicle. If FCA sold me a vehicle they knew was defective, had an open safety recall, and they don't have the ability to make the vehicle safe it shouldn't have been sold to me. The attached photos show I took possession on 2-24. The NHTSA and FCA website (FCA website screenshot is provided) show a recall date of 2-22. The 10B FCA recall letter says 2-23. All dates precede my purchase date of 2-24, showing FCA knowingly sold, and financed as this is through FCA financing, a vehicle with an open safety recall without informing me or fixing it.
Hybrid System, Air Suspension System, Engine, Power Train Car acceleration power cut out while driving 50 mph suddenly while driving down the road. Held up traffic when came to complete stop, vehicle would not restart immediately. Needed to restart vehicle multiple times before it started moving again. Problem has not been able to be reproduced by the dealer. They reset codes and took on a test drive and was not able to reproduce the issue. Vehicle has not been inspected by anyone other than the dealer. Currently Check Engine Light is on with Air Suspension Fault Light on as well. There was no warning to the vehicle losing power.
New vehicle within 30 days of purchase date. Vehicle had just turned a corner and went a few more feet driving approximately 5 mph on a flat asphalt RD. The rear end suddenly shook violently, making loud clunking noises and shut off. Vehicle put itself into park. Tried to restart the car and it would only flash all the warning lights. Tow truck took it to Landmark Dodge Jeep in Independence, MO. The shop determined right rear rotor broke in half, and caliper broke off. The rotor breaking cracked inside of wheel. No damage to wheel well, fender, under carriage or body of auto in any way. Turned in the issue to Jeep as defective. They refused to fix it stating turn it into auto insurance. We refused to turn into insurance as it is defective parts. We asked Jeep for a black box report. Jeep refused to run it, so we hired a forensic company to take the black box reading which confirms no possible collision incident. Both black box report specialist and Landmark repair technicians note defective parts are a serious concern on this auto. This could be a larger issue for Jeep. If rotor had broken at a higher speed would have been very serious situation. We are concerned that other 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee owners could be at risk. Jeep has still not responded to our escalation request. They keep advising someone will call us, but it has been over 45 days with no assistance from Jeep in any way. Car is still sitting unrepaired awaiting Jeep Wave escalation to contact us. We do not kno
The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving very slowly and making a left turn, the vehicle abruptly stopped nearly causing a rear end collision. The contact discovered that the transmission had erroneously shifted to park and failed to shift back to drive. After a while the contact was able to drive the vehicle to his parents’ residence. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 536.
Driving 35 MPH on a back road, no cars coming the opposite direction, the automatic emergency braking system flashed, beeped and slammed my brakes momentarily. Luckily there was no one behind me. I attempted to pull into a parking lot and the entire electrical system went crazy, all warning lights, systems and sensors went off and I lost power steering. Had I been driving during power steering loss it would have been very dangerous. This is the second time this has occurred with the lights and power steering issue (first time for the AEB system issue) and the dealer kept the car 3 weeks to repair it but clearly the problem persists.
WHILE DRIVING THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN. I HAD TO MAKE 5 ATTEMPTS TO RESTART THE CAR WHILE IN TRAFFIC. FINALLY IT WORKED. THEN IT RECENTLY REFUSED TO START AT ALL
As I was approaching an intersection near the railroad track my vehicle just stopped on its own, the gear switch to Park on its own and I was unable to switch the gear back to Drive or Neutral. Messages on the screen popped up saying “Park Brake Auto Engaged Press Brake + Push Switch to Release” but that didn't worked then received another message saying "Service transmission". So basically I had to call a tow truck because my vehicle was stuck in the middle of the road and there wasn't any way to move it and thankfully it stopped about 100ft before the railroad tracks. As I was waiting for the tow truck, about 15-20 minutes later, I tried pressing the brakes and switch again and this time it worked and was able to restart the vehicle. I called the dealer to get a service appointment and I'm waiting for them to call me back. This issue came with no warnings or prior signs and it was totally unexpected.
I own a 2023 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk 4xe, and after 4 months and roughly 5000 miles, a bolt in the rear suspension broke, causing significant damage to other parts. On the highway this was very disconcerting and there was a huge amount of lateral shifting over any bump. Definitely not safe. Thankfully, the first incident was covered under warranty, despite the repair team being clueless about the cause. Now, at the end of November with 9000 miles on the clock, history repeats itself. This time, Jeep acknowledges that the bolt in the rear tension link is a known issue with the Grand Cherokee 4xe, but they're stumped about why it keeps happening. No recall has been issued. Trying to get any information about whether the bolt has been upgraded in strength is like hitting a wall - neither the dealer nor Jeep corporate have answers. My case manager is either unable or unwilling to help, and I'm stuck in a loop between the dealer and corporate, with no one able to provide clear information.
The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that there was a fuel odor coming into the cabin of the vehicle while driving at various speeds. The contact stated that while attempting to accelerate uphill, the accelerator pedal had to be depressed to the floor for the vehicle to respond as needed. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle drove as if the brake pedal was being depressed. The contact stated that the fuel odor was evident only while the vehicle was in the E-Save Mode. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle had been taken to the dealer however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 600.
The vehicle was newly acquired and was set to run on Electric mode. I was driving on the Highway at highway speed and suddenly without any warning, it lost all power due the what is called "FORM" making the electric engine unavailable. There was a semi truck right behind me which almost hit me since by losing my electric engine I dropped my speed suddenly. I had to pull over and try to figure out what was going on and switch to Hybrid mode. The issue is that #1 this comes without any warning at any moment, making your electric engine absolutely useless and then why do we even have the option of an Electric only engine. #2 we have no control on delaying even for just a few miles this FORM mode to allow us to get to a gas station or to a safe location since the button to switch to Hybrid mode is not located in an easy access while keep your eyes on the Road. #3 I end up in that FORM mode almost every other week now . This FORM is not even something that is communicated by JEEP in their advertisement. You can't find the information about it unless you end up having the issue and look for it. I don't even reach the advertised MPG due to the FORM. I use gas every day regardless so I should not need to be in FORM mode every other week
Car is not driving well, roaring sound and jerky acceleration. Transmission pump is faulty on a new car with less than 3000 miles.
Gas gage is very inaccurate. Miles to empty falls dramatically faster than actual miles driven and then resets itself when car is turned off and back on. I have no confidence in the accuracy of fuel gage.
Driving Screen, Swaybar Disconnect systems, Airbags, TPMS, Driving controls such as blinkers, and emergency flashers. The car was functioning normally, with no anomalies or error messages, including through phone notifications. The battery charge was nearly complete. I engaged Electric-Drive mode and used regenerative braking to recharge the battery on my way to town. Approximately 30 minutes into the drive, and with the battery at 99% charge, I heard a loud pop. It sounded like it was coming from the right-side passenger control arm. Shortly after, my dashboard was illuminated with warning lights, including a check engine light and notifications about air suspension and sway bar disconnection, airbags, tpms sensors, and more. The car decelerated dramatically; The dashboard screen flickered on and off as if rebooting. I got the vehicle safely, but during that time, the car seemed to be in limp mode, unresponsive to acceleration, and stiffer than normal breaking. The steering was also affected. I realized that if I had been on the highway, this could have caused a severe accident. Screen, Powertrain, and drivetrain fail while traveling 45+ miles an hour. It is a small 2-way road in turn with mild car and foot traffic around. The dealer has confirmed the issue as an issue that has been present in past vehicles in this model category. The car had been in my possession for less than 24 hours/40 driven miles.
The engine shuts down while driving. There was a recall on 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L, there’s a current recall on 2023 Jeep Wrangler xe, and now my Jeep Grand Cherokee xe is experiencing the same malfunction. This is extremely dangerous since the vehicle loses power and comes to a stop while in the middle of driving. I came very close to being rear ended on 2 occasions. I had a service appointment with the Jeep dealership today and they confirmed that they were able to reproduce this today, so thankfully my vehicle will get fixed. No warnings appear on the vehicle’s display when this occurs. You have no warning and the vehicle simply stops. When this happens, I’ve been able to turn my car off and then back on again and it starts running again. This is an extremely dangerous flaw. I feel that it’s Jeeps responsibility to keep their customers safe by inspecting all similar vehicles to ensure that they are not selling a death trap to an unsuspecting customer. My vehicle is only 2 months old. In addition to this issue, I have had my air conditioner not cool when turned on, the navigation system refreshes over and over, the auto interior lights on the car brighten rather than dim when it’s dark, and the vehicle is already shifting rough. I have read that Jeeps are notorious for transmission issues. Unfortunately, I learned these thing after purchasing the $60,000 vehicle. I urge everyone who reads this to please research your vehicles (past and present models) to ensure you are m
The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving 15 MPH, the “4-WD mode Disabled”, and that the Automatic Emergency Braking activated messages were displayed. The vehicle then independently turned off. The contact stated that there were no other vehicles in front of the vehicle at the time of the failure. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road. The contact stated that upon restarting the vehicle, the messages were no longer displayed. The contact continued driving; however, the vehicle failed to shift smoothly into the intended gear. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where diagnostic codes related to the transmission valve body were retrieved. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 1,100.
The vehicle experiences un expected shutdowns while in motion on the freeway, posing a significant safety hazard to both myself, my passengers, and other commuters sharing the road.
When driving my vehicle, the engine seems to be stalling as a switching from one gear to the other jolts. The engine is slow in responding to speeding up. I feel unsafe specially when attempting to go on the freeway because the car seems to momentarily stop and between switching gears. I called the dealership where I purchased the car and they said that there is no recall for a similar experience of the problem. I called and they said that they would not be able to look at it for a few weeks, and that I was not able to book an appointment and that I would need to drop it off and it would take them approximately about three weeks to look at it and I was not able to get a loaner vehicle from them during that time.
Numerous messages regarding safety features appearing on cluster advising service required: ACTIVE LANE MANAGEMENT, BLIND SPOT ALERT, AUTO EMERGENCY BRAKING, REAR BRAKING ASSIST Features vital to safe operation of vehicle, Stellantis / FCA has zero knowledge & info as to cause of failure & fix.
Transmission started leaking and spraying transmission fluid while driving. Fluid hits exhaust and then smokes and burns off. Jeep has replaced various parts however it appears that the ZF transmissions are failing / have cracks in the housing. Dealer acknowledges the problem. Upon the 2nd failure dealer had us tow it to the dealership. The Jeep is now at the dealer waiting for a response from FCA on what is to be done. This is occurring on a number of Jeeps - both Grand Cherokee 4Xe's and Wrangler 4Xe's. No warning lamps - just a burning smell when driving. We have concerns about catastrophic failure while driving. Also concerned about potential fire due to the fluid leaking onto the exhaust system. Was first discovered by the dealer during routine maintenance. Regarding my dates: I noticed the burning smell when the Jeep was new - Thought it was just the normal burn off of materials on a new vehicle. This leak comes and goes more often after long trips.
2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4XE flashing the following needing service: ACTIVE LANE MANAGEMENT, BLIND SPOT ALERT, AUTO EMERGENCY BRAKING Numerous calls to Jeep whom refused to escalate to a STAR case for engineer review. Numerous calls to Stelantis, with no call back. Possible issues with safety module. Videos submitted to Jeep Wave and asked to escalate to bring attention to serious safety matter.
When ever I try to charge my Jeep grand Cherokee 4xe summit reserve it fails to charge on a level 1 or level 2 charger and then they check engine light comes on and a electrical burning smell from the hybrid battery and says service charging system. When ever you bring it to the dealer they just reset the code and says it works only for the problem to come back it also affects how the jeep drives when this happens the jeep doesn't want to accelerate properly and has other electric system issues like the wipers coming on randomly and the massage seats coming on randomly as well which can distract someone when they are not expecting that to happen the jeep doesn't want to drive. I brought it to the dealer 3 times now and all they keep doing is resetting the code and stating its fine only for it to come back and this is a major problem and needs to be fixed as this is going to cause a major accident or fire since it has to do with the hybrid battery system.
While driving in the freeway vehicle shut down completely. Near miss fatal traffic accident to several vehicles. Took vehicle to the car dealer and they said it needs a software update.
Accelerating onto hwy and vehicle jerks then flashes “service hybrid system” and “battery low” (as in the vehicle battery not electric mode charge. Pulled up to a stop light 2 min later and automatic breaking locks up and the vehicle completely locks and shuts down. Unable to reset/turn off/on or shift. Had to be towed to dealership.
On February 23rd 2023 I picked up my new 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe from conway Jeep in South Carolina . On the way home I noticed my foot kept slipping off the accelerator pedal and wasn't sure what was causing it. When I arrived home I noticed the accelerator pedal was made from a slick piece of plastic and didn't have a rubber cover or anti slip material installed like the brake pedal had. I contacted the jeep dealership and asked if jeep forgot to install one at the factory and if so please have one sent out. A representative spoke with their techs to order a new one and they stated jeep doesn't offer that part nor was it on the entire pedal assembly to order. They ended up checking all their grand cherokee 4xes on the lot and they all came like that. Jeep corporate office was notified on Feb 28th 2023 reporting my safety concern about having a pedal without any type of grip to help prevent a person's foot from slipping could cause a vehicle accident. The representative stated jeep does not make a part for that nor were they planning on fixing this safety issue and I should just go to an auto parts store to find something for it. To my knowledge every other vehicle that jeep currently manufactures has rubber material on the accelerator pedal. I also thought manufacturers were required by law to have some type of anti slip material on the accelerator, brakes, and clutch.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
