Started squeaking, so we replaced brakes, control arms with bushings, then it started smelling really bad and losing power. When the engine starts, manual shift is not available. Extremely pungent toxic fumes released into the cabin requires recycled air to be on always or the car is not drivable. Oh, and loss of power, like dropping into a low gear when should be in a higher gear. Smell is noxious. Dealer reports Stellantis has not provided parts, updates or any further information. Don't drive much so didn't notice until Government Shutdown ended, I was asked to return to the NSF offices 40 miles from my home. Smell became really evident at that point.

The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V011000 (Power Train); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds or depressing the brake pedal, there was an abnormal grinding sound coming from underneath the vehicle. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed with PTU failure. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle was previously taken to another local dealer, Imlay City Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (2093 S Van Dyke Rd, Imlay City, MI 48444), where the sway bar links, front struts, 6 cylinders tune up, brake fluid flush, transmission service, fuel injector, and radiator replacement were repaired or replaced; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was previously taken to the local dealer for sway bar links, 2 lower control arms, 2 front steering knuckles, front wheel bearing replacement, and a 4-wheel alignment. The vehicle was repaired, but was taken back and was diagnosed and determined that two front struts and the PTU needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 119,952.

While driving 4WD warning light appeared on dash display. I pulled over shortly after and checked for obvious clues such as leaking oil, loose belts and burning smells, nothing to be found. Currently, I was advised not to drive this vehicle due to causing additional damage or breakdown. I am still waiting for the part to be delivered so this could be repaired.

4 wheel drive system failure and dashboard warning light has been on since late 2024! Took it to a Jeep dealer. They specified a problem with the PTU upon inspection. The part was unavailable for repair. Through the Mopar website, my Jeep has been recalled for this problem since Jan 2025. There is still no fix as of 12/3/25!!!! I phoned dealer to see if it could be repaired as per the recall... they tell me they cannot help me and to call Chrysler. Ridiculous. Please advise!! I do not want to experience further damage to my car and unexpected motor loss as the recall states... and I want my 4WD working again as it greatly helps with car control in wet situations and I often travel through mountains (snow). Thank you for your time and assistance.

Approximately two weeks before the major symptom appeared, the “Service 4WD” warning light illuminated on the dashboard. The vehicle’s performance didn’t seem to be noticeably affected, so I checked for any active recalls or service bulletins but found none that applied to my VIN. I monitored the situation closely in case it was an electrical or sensor-related issue. Shortly after, a loud clunking noise began coming from the drivetrain area, most noticeable during acceleration and deceleration. After arriving home, I immediately stopped driving the vehicle due to serious safety concerns and contacted my mechanic. A certified mechanic inspected the vehicle and confirmed that the transfer case (Power Transfer Unit) had failed and required replacement. The mechanic stated that this is a common problem in 2019 Jeep Cherokees. After researching, I found many other reports of similar failures, all traced to transfer-case defects. However, my VIN is not currently included in any recall. I believe this defect is related to known issues affecting Jeep Cherokee transfer cases and should be investigated further by NHTSA. I respectfully request that NHTSA open or expand an investigation into transfer case and PTU failures on 2019 Jeep Cherokee models to determine whether a recall and reimbursement for repairs are warranted.

An alert showed on the message board SVC 4WD and 4WD unavailable. We live part time in the mountains and rely on 4WD. Last winter we had snow and could not get up our driveway. When leaving the mountains we were going through the steps to tow our Jeep behind our RV. The system indicated failure to disengage the transmission so we were unable to tow the Jeep and we were still 1000 miles from home in Florida. We went to Jeep dealers in PA, DE, GA, and again in FL. All dealers found the issue with the PTU issue 01C but said there was not a remedy. Even if they replaced the PTU it could happen again as they did not know what inside the PTU was the problem. We've had some transmission slipping or hesitating as well.

I'm an elder who lives alone. My Jeep is my only regular transportation. I'm now fearful about this Jeep Recall 01C / NHTSA 25V-011 since things are happening that night mean my safety and my vehicle are greatly at risk! My SRC 4WD light came on about 10 days ago and I no longer have the ability to put my Jeep in 4WD as it says it must be serviced first. This ONLY STATED about 10 days ago. I have an appointment with a dealer this coming Wed, Dec 3. I said I was coming in for a recall and because my SRV 4WD light was coming on. I am not mechanical and didn't really understand the recall (NOW I do as I've researched ad nauseam!) I was told I'd have to pay $187 for a scan!! WHAT?!? Now that I know the story I will NOT do that! I will still go and explain my concerns but what a rip off that would have been! I am afraid now, of driving my car - and yet there is no FIX as of yet - not in MANY MONTHS - which I read is totally inappropriate with no recourse. This is just wrong for a SAFETY recall with my vehicle having 'symptoms' of this issue now being 'engaged' in some way. I did a couple of SRV 4WD easy troubleshooting steps of disconnecting neg battery cable for 50 minutes then re-attached and brought all 4 tires up to EXACT same PSI. Plus I had a simple scan done at auto parts store that shows nothing but a customer there offered to use his much better scanner and see photos to see what he found re: my PTU. What do I do? What CAN I do? I'd appreciate a quick response please. My

The oil pressure sending switch failed. Oil filter housing and gaskets were replaced. I had oil leaks and took it to a garage to get it checked and was told not to drive it if possible. I was leaking oil bad. If I drove it and oil leaked out it could have made the road slick or possibly blown up the engine.

I needed an oil pressure sending switch, oil filter housing and intake manifold gaskets replaced. I took it to a garage for the oil leak. Was told not to use it . If the oil leak got worse, the oil could have made the road slippery if it rained or I could have blown the engine. The car sat until I got an appointment.

While driving my vehicle last Thursday, November 20th, the "SVC 4WD" warning light came on without warning, following an audible and tangible thump from beneath the vehicle. Following this, a high-pitched grinding/whining could be heard from centrally beneath the vehicle, and the vehicle was unsteady accelerating/decelerating. The vehicle would not remain in park, and no drive was going to the back wheels. I believe this to be the same issue as in recall 01C for Jeep Cherokee KLs 2017-2019, which my vehicle falls into. This is a recall on an improperly seated input shaft snap ring in the power transfer unit (PTU) which my Jeep dealership has confirmed, damaged the transmission and differential components, including the axle rods. The vehicle is unusable in its current state, and is currently sitting at a valued repair cost of approximately $7000.

Our dealership, Billion Motors ran diagnostics after I indicated that my service 4WD light had been on, and found out that I needed a new transfer case. Jeeps from 2017 to 2019 have a known transfer case issue and my Jeep is a 2019 and unfortunately the serial number is not listed in the recall. This is a huge security risk as I'm afraid that my vehicle will slip out of gear and heading into winter my AWD is not working due to this part failure. (I live in the midwest where we receive a lot of snow!) I'm concerned that this part has been on order since June of this year and it's now the end of November and hasn't been received it. This is a huge security risk going into the winter plus anytime I park. My vehicle only has 67,000 miles on it.

I am writing to report a safety concern regarding my 2019 Jeep Cherokee. I recently learned that a specific part on the 2018 Jeep Cherokee was recalled due to a known defect (Oil Pump Recall (Recall T65 / NHTSA 17V-670). My 2019 Cherokee is now experiencing the exact same issue that was identified in the recall for the previous model year. Because the problem appears to be identical to the 2018 recall condition, I believe this may indicate a continuing safety defect affecting additional model years that were not included in the original recall campaign. I am requesting: 1.A formal review and investigation into whether the recalled part on the 2018 model also affects the 2019 Cherokee. 2.A FULL refund to what I paid to have this repaired. And yes a receipt can be provided. 3.Written confirmation of the steps you will take to address this matter. This issue is a safety concern, and I want to ensure it is properly documented and investigated. Please advise on how this can be resolved. Tuesday 11/11 my 2019 Jeep Cherokee was involved in an accident due to the PTU not working properly. In PA we had very poor road conditions due to snow throughout the night into the morning. When making a turn my car slid and hit a curb damaging the front right side of my vehicle. I do believe the safety of myself and others had been put at risk. while no one else was involved in the accident just me it could have been worse if it weren’t so early in the morning and little traffic on the roads. I had my vehicle in the Scranton Dodge and Jeep dealership about a month prior to inspect the issue and they were unable to fix it due to the part being on back order and my cars VIN not being specified on the recall for this issue. I was also told that my vehicle was safe to continue driving in the meantime which is not the case. I have had the vehicle inspected by a dealership and my insurance company was involved for the damages produced by the accident. The warning message has been on but no one has the part to do anything about it and like previously stated was told the vehicle was fine to drive. I had this issue inspected in the beginning of october. I have also contacted Jeep and they told me there is nothing they can do for me since my VIN is not specified. I bought this car to get safely to and from places during the winter months in PA and that clearly is not the case now. It is very frustrating being a full time student and paying on a car that does not do the job that it’s

While driving my 2019 Jeep Cherokee, the vehicle's start/stop system malfunctioned and caused the engine to completely shut off at a traffic light. I had my hazard lights on, and while stopped safely another driver rear ended my vehicle. The Jeep has had repeated issues with stalling and engine shut-off since I purchased it. This is a serious safety concern and could have caused greater injury. I brought my vehicle to the dealership 3 times for the same issues once back in 01/25/2023, when the vehicle was still under warranty a part was ordered and replaced, but the same issues kept recurring. When I brought the vehicle back in in 2024 I was told because my warranty had expired I would have to pay out of pocket to repair the issue.

The Power Transfer Unit (PTU) in my 2019 Jeep Cherokee failed, producing a “Service 4WD” warning and DTC C14A7-97 (“PTU motor obstructed/blocked”). An authorized dealer removed and inspected the PTU and documented internal damage (metal debris and worn components). The dealer charged over $1,400 for the teardown/diagnostic and then reassembled the failed unit because Stellantis could not supply a replacement part. The AWD system remains inoperative, creating a potential loss-of-drive/safety risk while driving. Importantly, the dealer Dicks Dodge/Jeep in Wilsonville, OR failed to disclose that this is part of an active technical service bulletin (STAR Case S1721000016 Rev A) and related to NHTSA Recall 25V-011 affecting 2017-2019 Cherokees, repeatedly missed promised callbacks, provided no timeline for parts, and offered no substantive remedy other than suggesting a trade-in. The dealer’s lack of communication and refusal/ inability to obtain parts left me with an un-repaired, potentially unsafe vehicle and billed for work that produced no fix. The component is available for inspection upon request.

The “SVC 4WD” warning indicator illuminated on my dashboard. A diagnostic test performed at an authorized dealership confirmed a failure in the Power Transfer Unit (PTU). The PTU and the vehicle are still installed and available for inspection upon request. The warning light appears intermittently—turning on for a period of time, then shutting off before returning. This issue presents a potential safety risk. The dealership explained that PTU failure can result in loss of power while driving or the vehicle failing to remain securely in Park, either of which could lead to loss of control or unintended vehicle movement, posing a risk to myself, passengers, pedestrians, and other motorists. The problem has been confirmed by the dealership through diagnostic testing. No repairs have been completed at this time because, although this is a known issue affecting this year, make, and model, the PTU failure is not currently covered under a recall or warranty extension. I have also observed multiple reports of PTU failure in other vehicles of the same year, make, and model, suggesting a pattern of premature failure that may indicate a potential design or manufacturing defect. To date, the vehicle has only been inspected by the dealership and has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. There were no other warning lamps or symptoms prior to the “SVC 4WD” indicator. The warning light first appeared on 11/3/2025, and the vehicle was brought in for diag

In auto drive-mode, there is a low grinding noise up to 18 mph. In snow, sand, and gravel drive-modes, there the noise is constant to at least 30mph. When the fuses were removed to try to disable the PTU, the noise was considerably louder at all speeds in auto drive-mode. Once the fuses were reinserted, the noise went back to the original under 18mph in auto. There are no noticeable issues with the braking or steering systems.

The vehicle is a 2019 Jeep Cherokee with approximately 70,000 miles on it. Check 4WD light came on. Took it to a Jeep dealer who said that it is a problem with the rear differential and would cost $6,000 to repair. Vehicle's VIN is not included in the PTU recall which has affected other 2017-2019 Jeep Cherokees.

The 4WD service light keeps coming on and off in my 2019 Jeep Cherokee Latitude Plus. The obd2 code c1494-92 displays. This is directly related to a Power Transfer Unit (PTU) issue. There was a recall issued in January of 2025 (recall 01C). However, I am being told that my VIN is not covered under this recall. I contacted the manufacturer (Jeep) and there were not able to give me a reason why the 01C recall does not cover my vehicle. The NHTSA referred me to the manufacturer. But I keep getting the runaround and nobody is providing me a clear answer on this issue.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
