Started the vehicle and before we could put it in gear, the airbags in the back seat deployed. I contacted Jeep Customer Service and was given case # 93132151 and they had it towed to the nearest dealership for diagnosis. Then Jeep refused to pay the diagnostic fee and the dealership won’t do the diagnosis. Our fear is that the vehicle is unsafe to drive as the front airbags could now go off.

Gear shift dropped out of drive into neutral. Note on dash said to put in park and then back to drive which was done. Same problem occurred a few minutes later. Also occurred to dealer tech advisor twice but has not been duplicated since even after about 150 miles. Dealer says they cannot troubleshoot until transmission fails. This seems to be the identical problem that required a 2019 recall.

The vehicle experienced a catastrophic failure of the brand new CV half shaft while driving. Spline shear. Loss of Drive function, loss of Park function. Our local garage said the vehicle was the correct for make, model, and year for this to be a W47 recall issue. When we searched NTHSA with the vehicle VIN, which returned Zero open recalls. After researching the W47 recall, we called the manufacturer. They documented our VIN and details of our case in two departments and gave us the reference numbers: #92987492, and #92987905. They told us the next step was to bring it to NTHSA a file a complaint report about the VIN not being included in the recall and to include the reference numbers in the complaint form. We have nothing physical to scan or upload. Just those two reference numbers from the manufacturers.

The electronic parking brake locked up at an intersection - only way I could get it going again was disconnect and reconnect the battery. Took to dealer and was diagnosed as the parking brake module. Dealer wanted $1900 to repair but the part was on back order for an unknown time. Removed all fuses linked to parking brake and was told to drive it - only has front wheel drive as computer thinks parking brake is on - jeep has told us that water leaks into to them and shorts them out. Not impressed as times are tough and not getting any help from Jeep. Why is there not a recall as this seems like a infection with this model?

Just got gas, stopped at the gym, started jeep, drove out of parking lot then the jeep randomly went into neutral and dash said vehicle needed to be put in park to shift gears, I put it in park, then into drive and didn't shift into gear, put it in park, turned off the jeep, then didn't want to start, after 3rd try it started and shifted into gear. Drove it for about 2 miles, parked at a store, let it set for 20 mins, first try didn't want to start, second try it did. Been driving fine for the past couple days. Having a vehicle randomly shift into neutral while driving is a major safety issue.

My service park brake lights came on, and I had issues where my parking brake tried to engage when I was driving a couple of times. Then when I tried to drive it to a mechanic it completely locked up and I couldn’t drive it. It turns out that my spare tire well was flooded due to a known leak issue, which there is an open recall for that/a power lift module. But due to this leak, the blood water in my tire well ran down onto my parking, brake, computer, module and connector, which made it corroded and shorted it out. My mechanic advised me to take it to the dealership and talk to Chrysler to get it fixed since the lake is a known issue and this is consequential damage due to this issue, but they said since my car is out of warranty there’s nothing they could do for me but have me pay for it out of pocket. Concerning considering this is a major safety issue.

We have been hearing a clicking or knocking sound in the front end of our 2104 Jeep Cherokee for a long time now. We had it into the local shop (we are relatively remote from the closest dealer) and they we're not able to find the source of the sound. Forward a bit and now that the sound has gotten louder and the 4x Service warning light has come on it has been identified and confirmed by the nearest dealer that the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) is bad. This is a part that has been covered under many other Jeep Cherokee recalls but our VIN had not shown up on any of those recalls. We believe our PTU is faulty like the rest of them. I don't have an good estimate of when we started to hear the noise but I know we now have ~189k miles on the vehicle. I know it's higher milage but this has been a slow developing issue for a long time now. It's been off the road for a year now as parts were not originally available to fix this issue with the diagnosis was first made.

Water intrusion into electronic parking brake module caused a failure which caused the parking brake to set which would not allow the vehicle to move and parking brake could not be released. This vehicle has already been to the dealer for a safety recall for the power lift gate module located in the SAME area as the parking brake module and for the same reason water intrusion which could cause potential fires. Dealer would not warranty the parking brake module as if this is the same problem as the power lift gate module located right next to each other. There are numerous threads on the internet from other Cherokee owners with the same issue.

I was on my way home from Alpharetta from a business meeting and my car started to shake really bad on the front. I thought it might have been something my tire caught. But I just put 4 brand new tires and not one light was on on my dash board there have never been any lights come on my dash board since I've had the vehicle. I drove about 10 more mins and it got worse so I pulled over and parked. I couldn't see anything. I was an hour away from home. The next day after getting my vehicle home. I was told that the ignition coil was catching fire as i was driving it. I also have the video in my phone. The car was literally trying to catch on fire and I was told if I would have kept driving it and not pulled over my car would have went up in flames more than likely. I keep all the maintenance done on it and change the tires and if stuff needs fixing i fix it. But I have never had a car start to catch fire as I'm driving it. I have video proof that's what it was doing while the car was running and noone messed with it . This car year make and model shouldn't even be on the market. I already had a recall for the pcm/tcm and that didn't fix anything on the vehicle from that recall. But this problem that happened with me definitely needs to be recalled bc I wasn't near home and was by myself and I could have been hurt if my vehicle would have went up in flames.

My daughters 2014 Jeep Cherokee’s Power Transfer Unit (PTU) failed at 90,000 miles—grinding noise, Service 4WD warning, and loss of power. Jeep dismissed my case (#91999636) despite the XJ1 warranty extension (15 years/unlimited miles) and multiple recalls/TSBs for PTU issues. This is a 2014 Jeep Cherokee, this model DOES have a recall for water leaking in through the truck. That causes the electronic parking break module to short out and lock the parking brake in as engaged. My jeeps vin however is not a part of the recall for some reason, this part was replaced on 4/16/22. Today 3/9/2023 the parking brake engaged and was locked on when we put the car in park. The spare tire compartment is FULL of water, everything in the trunk was wet. And the piece from the service advisor that was replace in 2022 has water in it, and it is corroded.

I am writing to express my concern about a critical issue I have been experiencing with my 2014 Jeep Cherokee Limited 4WD. I have been facing continuous and severe problems with the transfer case, which has rendered my vehicle unsafe and unusable. This has been an ongoing issue, and it is causing significant distress as I do not feel confident in the safety of my vehicle, especially while transporting my children. The vehicle was sold to me in this condition, and I am extremely concerned that this issue is not only impacting my ability to use the vehicle but also compromises the safety of my family. Given the severity of the problem, I am seeking clarification on whether there have been any recalls or known issues related to the transfer case for the 2014 Jeep Cherokee. If there is a recall or warranty coverage that I can take advantage of, I would appreciate detailed information on how to proceed. I would also like to know the steps that I can take to resolve this issue in a timely manner. I rely on my vehicle for daily transportation, and this situation has caused a great deal of inconvenience and stress. I would appreciate any assistance you can provide, including possible solutions or repairs.

Parking brake engaged while reversing out of driveway. "Service Parking Brake" message on dash and Parking brake lights on dash. Parking brake flashing amber LED lights. Parking brake not working. This is for a 2015 Jeep Cherokee, an investigation was opened and closed. Unsure of the outcome. Concerned though as I had a water leakage into the lift gate power module causing a small fire. That was repaired/replaced with recall in 2024. Now the same issue is happening with my power breaks. I feel like this should be covered under recall.

1) The Power Transfer Unit and possibly driveline/driveshaft. 2) The car turns off while driving and all systems lock up, no matter how fast you are going. Power steering fails, steering wheel locks, and the car cannot be turned back on until it is put back in park, which means you come to a full stop and attempt to turn back on. Sometimes the car has no power to turn back on to put in park leaving you stranded in the middle of the road with cars behind you. This has mainly happened while we are slowing down to a stop, but still going 20-25 MPH. Thankfully not faster yet. 3) The dealer and another mechanic have identified a PTU issue, but could not reproduce. On 9/2021 the check engine light came on. Took it to a mechanic and they noted: "POWER TRANSFER UNIT SYSTEM OPERATION OBSTRUCTED, WHILE IN THE AIR WE SAW THAT THE OUTPUT DRIVELINE HAS EXCESSIVE PLAY AND AN OBLONGED BEARING CAP." My parking gage engaged several times while parked I saw that it said the parking breaking was engaged but I had not put it on. Next it engaged when stopped for a traffic light. I was able to restart it several times. Noticed that this was most likely to happen after a rainfall. Last time it happened my son was able to trick it into disengaging and get it home. Next day it had to be flatbed towed to my mechanic. He changed the parking break switch and that burned out again. After careful investigation he found over two gallons of water under the spare tire where the parking break module is housed. It had to be replaced as well as both calipers. The module also had to be reprogrammed. It was at there 22 days. The mechanic bill was nearly $1,800. Now I need extensive body work to perhaps stop the water coming in thru the seams underneath the power-lift door which had opened. In checking previous complaints it seems that This should have been a recall long ago as it has happened to other similar jeeps.

I was in the fast lane and had no way to keep using the gas pedal to get out of traffic. The drivers behind me as well as myself were luckily not hit due to know possible way to quickly move out of the way since I had no way of accelerating to move out of traffic, I could only coast in 70 mph freeway.
