November 20 I took my car to Seattle jeep to comply with a NHTSA recall (U90).Few days latter when they finish the repair they created a new problem with the transmission. Now I have a rough or abrupt transmission shifting like being rear ended. The dealer told me: the manufacturer need to fix it because of some flaws in the software calibration or it’s internal components. Seattle jeep it won’t take responsibility for

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The vehicle was serviced under Manufacturer Recall Number: U90 (Catalyst Efficiency Recall). However, recently, there was an abnormal knocking sound coming from the rear of the vehicle while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with transmission valve failure. The dealer refused to repair the vehicle and referred the contact to the manufacturer for assistance with the software update. The vehicle remained at the dealer unrepaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
I have reported this before and I am reporting once again as it is a very serious safety hazard. Vehicle: 2014 Jeep Cherokee Limited Component/System: Power Train – Transfer Case / Drivetrain (4WD/AWD System) I am submitting this complaint to report a recurring and potentially hazardous malfunction involving the transfer case on my 2014 Jeep Cherokee Limited. The vehicle exhibits multiple symptoms consistent with transfer case failure, including intermittent grinding and clunking noises from the drivetrain, jerking and binding during acceleration or low-speed turns, and difficulty engaging or maintaining 4WD/AWD modes. The vehicle has also displayed dashboard warnings such as “Service 4WD” and “4WD Temporarily Unavailable.” At times, vibration can be felt through the floorboard at highway speeds, and the vehicle has intermittently lost power to either the front or rear wheels. These issues pose a significant safety concern. The inconsistent torque delivery causes unpredictable handling, including sudden hesitation, surging, or traction loss during normal driving. The vehicle has also exhibited momentary drivetrain binding that feels similar to braking or wheel lockup, creating a risk of loss of control—particularly when turning, merging, or driving in adverse weather. There is concern that the transfer case could suffer sudden internal failure, potentially resulting in immediate power loss, immobilization, or inability to maneuver out of traffic. Given the frequency of transf
While driving, the vehicle shifts itself into neutral and goes into a limp mode with no power. Almost caused a serious accident going 70 mph when it shifted itself into neutral
Service AWD and Service Parking Brake warnings are present on the dashboard. The problem lies in a bad PTU (Power Transfer Unit) and the DTCM that controls it. Part is not available for purchase and currently back ordered nationwide indefinitely. The cost of the part and labor combined approaches to 80% of the residual value of the vehicle at 118,000 miles.
I purchased this 2014 Jeep Cherokee from Taverna Collection in Feb 2025 and received it in March 2025. The selling dealer was required to inspect the vehicle before delivery and did not report any transmission or valve-body issues. On June 25, 2025, the vehicle received a multipoint inspection at Auto Angel in Santa Fe. No transmission failure, shifting issues, or valve-body concerns were found. The Jeep was not showing symptoms related to Recall U90 at that time. After this, I attempted to have Recall U90 (PCM/TCM reprogramming) performed. Lithia Chrysler in Santa Fe confirmed the recall by email and scheduled an appointment, but after towing the vehicle to them they refused to perform the recall and repeatedly stated “there is no recall,” forcing me to tow the vehicle home and then again two days later to a dealership in Albuquerque. At the Albuquerque dealership, I gave clear instructions not to perform any paid repairs—including a transmission valve-body replacement—until the U90 reflash was completed and confirmed. I never received confirmation. The dealership later claimed they followed protocol but refused to release the WiTECH session report or timestamps showing when the recall work occurred. They told me I could only see documentation after paying $2,600. I contacted FCA/Stellantis. The case manager said her supervisor stated the dealer “followed protocol,” but FCA admitted this was based solely on the dealership’s word. FCA could not confirm whether they reviewed t
Transmission is very jerky and have had this problem since i had it with 111,000 miles. I went to a mechanic and was told it was ptu. Was also checking online and not sure why it isn’t covered but i’ve seen everyone has this problem on this jeep. Really to expensive for me to fix.
Unknown when taking off from a stop sign it’s has a delay when hitting the gas also when driving down the road it’s like a jerking or feel like transmission jerking or slipping or something it’s does it every time I drive i
Vehicle has been inspected by 2 different mechanics, both confirming our PTU is failing. This is our sons only vehicle; while he was driving the vehicle to and from work, and going to school sometimes the car will start flashing “ESC off” and will stop while he driving. Almost like the car has slammed on its breaks. This has happened while he going 10mph and happened going 40mph, most dangerous time he was driving 65MPH on interstate when it locked up and caused him to slide down a exit ramp. Of course this puts not only him at risk of serious harm or death, but the other drivers on the road if his car decides to slam on its breaks and someone hits since this happens out of nowhere. Again, this issue has been confirmed my two separate independent service centers and two separate dates. The vehicle has not been inspected by manufacturer, insurance representatives, or police except for the two separate mechanics we took our vehicle to. 1 week before this issue began the ESC off button started flashing which we immediately took it to the repair shop a few days later and was diagnosed with a failing PTU. This car is incredibly dangerous to drive and each time we drive it — it feels like a death sentence.
We have had the vehicle inspected by 2 different mechanics, first saying the TCM was out now both confirming our PTU is failing. This is our sons only vehicle; while he driving the vehicle to and from work, and going to School sometimes the car will start flashing “ESC off” and will stop while he was driving. Almost like the car has slammed on its breaks. This has happened while he was going 10mph and happened going 40mph, the last time he was going 65MPH down interstate and car locked up causing him to slide down exit ramp luckily no one was beside him at the time. Of course this puts not only him as risk of serious harm or death, but the other drivers on the road if his car decides to slam on its breaks and someone hits since this happens out of nowhere. The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while the accelerator pedal was depressed. The service transmission and check engine warning lights were illuminated. In addition, the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle lost automotive power but was able to be restarted. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the hydraulic pressure sensor needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the hydraulic pressure sensor was replaced by an independent mechanic; however, the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that refueling the vehicle took approximately 20 minutes to accomplish. The contact had to pump the fuel slowly, and it was difficult to fuel the vehicle to capacity. There was only one fuel pump that the contact could use in the town of his residence. The contact stated that fuel was spilling on the vehicle and the ground while refueling. There was an abnormal fuel odor inside the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer on four occasions, where an unknown diagnostic was provided. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken to two independent mechanics who were unable to assist because the mechanics were not certified. The manufacturer was contacted and opened a case. The approximate failure mileage was 161,334.
10/20/2025 I was driving my sons car because he told me the car transmission locked up on him while he was driving 65MPH on highway, and sure enough it did it to me. I took it to Davis Moore Jeep Dealership and they told me the TCM needed to be replaced ($1,200.00 out of pocket), so on 10/25/25 the TCM was replaced 10/26/25 we picked car up after work was done and not even 4 miles from dealership the car locked up again, but this time it had to be towed back to dealership. today 11/04/25 dealership told us the PCM is out qand needs replaced and it would be $4k out of pocket. Now this problem happened on the highway at 65MPH and a student driving and could have been bad luckily there was no one on road yet. The TCM and PCM have both had recalls done advising to reprogram both components which have been done and now Jeep Car Care says there is nothing they can do.
We have had the vehicle inspected by 2 different mechanics, both confirming our PTU is failing. My wife and I have a toddler and this is our only vehicle; while we’re driving the vehicle to and from work, and going to get groceries sometimes the car will start flashing “ESC off” and will stop while we’re driving. Almost like the car has slammed on its breaks. This has happened while we’re going 10mph and happened going 40mph. Of course this puts not only us as risk of serious harm or death, but the other drivers on the road if our car decides to slam on its breaks and someone hits since this happens out of nowhere. Last year in 2024 our vehicle started having significant issues with the transmission. We took it to a dealership and through our warranty that we purchased, we were told that the transmission control module had lost its programming but no one understood why. It wasn't covered under our warranty and we paid full price out of pocket for that. Less than a year later we are back with the same issues again where it's not holding on to its programming. It locks itself into neutral when we are driving, it will have surges of power with the battery, and no longer has any emergency braking system. We cannot put the emergency brake on in fact. We lost all of our 4x4 variations such as snow sport and four wheel drive low. Full drive is no longer able to be engaged at all with the transmission. It will not shift in or out of 5th gear which means every time we push on the gas that means it's going to be starting out in 5th gear which is obviously a strain on the transmission. Due to that it has no towing power whatsoever right now. It has shut off completely in the middle of us driving bfore. These issues are causing it to slowly lose it's communication with all of the other modules in the vehicle and the engine itself is no longer communicating with the transmission which makes driving the vehicle almost impossible.
Car keeps shutting off and the acceleration is bad and transmission doesn’t work as well when i shift gears
73000 miles. 2014 Jeep. Mechanic reported PTU problem. VIN is not on list of recall. Car "service 4wheel" dashboard light is on. Auto vibrates when driven.
Electronic parking brake engages at random. Gauge info shows “P” with a circle warning, as well as “brake” in red. Says “4wd system unavailable”. Parking brake module has water/corrosion at connection terminal. Parking brake switch by gear shifter flashing constantly. Car will drive fine then will not move when attempting to go later, had to leave on side of road until it could be towed recently. Extremely frustrating and upsetting. This needs recalled as dealership says it costs $1000’s and requires reprogramming. Now left with a Jeep I can not drive and can not afford to fix.
Vehicle experienced a sudden no-start condition in July 2025 after being parked for ~2 weeks. Engine cranked briefly, then shut off and displayed a red immobilizer warning. OBD-II scans showed BCM memory faults (B22A9), immobilizer lockout (P0513), CAN-C bus communication errors, and repeated low-voltage codes. Dealer replaced PCM (~$1,550) but vehicle still inoperative. Dealer then determined BCM (Body Control Module, part #68141881AJ) failed, but part has been discontinued by Mopar and is unavailable nationwide. Used BCMs are VIN-locked, leaving no authorized repair path. Vehicle is also subject to NHTSA Recall 23V338000 (power liftgate module electrical short / parasitic drain). My vehicle showed repeated low-voltage events consistent with this defect, which likely corrupted the BCM and immobilizer system. Dealer confirmed recall parts are still backordered. As a result, a 2014 Jeep Cherokee with only ~32,000 miles has been rendered permanently inoperable due to discontinued safety-critical electronics. The defect creates a substantial safety risk because electrical shorts can occur while parked or driving, and owners are left without remedy.
Battery drains when vehicle is off and not running. If not fully charged the alternator will overwork and not be able to charge the battery for the length of the drive causing the battery to go dead while driving.
Rear tires locked up in reverse. While in gear they lock up randomly. Car shut off and broke down while driving on expressway and lost control. No accident but could’ve been bad. 4x4 light on says svc. Mechanic says shows signs of new safety recall 02C? Talked to Jeep dealership and they weren’t aware of such recall on this model. Need help on who to contact and what to do.
While driving through a local street the car stopped and the message on dash board would inform the driver to put the car in park, turn off the car, and start again. This happened approximately 15 times when approaching stop lights, stop signs or going lowered that 20 miles per hour. This also suggested that battery was low. However, the battery level read normal every time.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the transmission unexpectedly shifted to neutral(N). The contact stated there was no warning light illuminated. The contact pulled over and turned off and restarted the vehicle and was able to continue driving normally. The contact purchased the vehicle and stated that the failure was a recurring failure. The contact stated that the "Check Battery" warning light recently illuminated when the vehicle was shifted into neutral(N). The contact had taken the vehicle to two independent mechanics who were unable to duplicate the failure. The battery was checked and was operating normally. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V529000 (Power Train); however, the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 151,000.
Power Transfer Unit fails to properly engage 4x4 power train in hazardous weather conditions. It is available upon request for inspection. My safety is put at risk as I live in a mountainous area and require tow assistance to overtake obstacles like snow and uneven terrain. The overheating that occurs as a result of my attempts to engage the 4x4 power train system wears down other components on my vehicle; resulting in excess use and increase likelihood of those components experiencing premature failure. The dealer failed to make a concerted attempt to recreate the issue and instead pushes for replacement of the PTU. The vehicle components are inspected at regular intervals to satisfy safety inspections for the purposes of registering the vehicle. However, I am still left to sort out my own safety concerns in the case of the faulty PTU. The warning lights that flash 'SVC 4x4' come on when I need to engage the 4x4 power train. It is precisely in those moments when I need the Jeep's 4x4 power train system to engage and it fails to do so each time.
Less then 120000 miles and rear differential unit had to be replaced, and now roughly 158000 miles and now front differential unit has to be replaced.
Vehicle would shut completely off when stopped at a red light. Shifter would not move. I was put a risk on a busy street, stuck at a red light and could not move to a safer location. The second time there were three children in the car when the car shuts off at a red light. The problem has been confirmed by dealer and has been inspected. Check engine light was on, however nothing was showed for about the shifter. Dealer mentioned PRNDL and harness. I see that there were previous recalls with the Jeep Cherokee but the car is still showing symptoms of them. It’s is not safe for me to drive and I have been without a car for almost 3 months.
This vehicle had multiple reprograms for transmission control module and still had same issue I have only had the vehicle 1 year and driven it 7k and I take. It to Jim Browne jeep dealership they said they transmission control module needs replacement the jeep when I brake jumps forward and speeds up its unpredictable and unsafe it also does not shift into gear it slips and I did a search and see. This has been a reoccurring issue .As well as my back up camera appears while I am driving and parked ,or screen just says jeep or goes blue unable to change dash supply control at all ,this vehicle is a lemon and we were not told of any of these issues
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle failed to shift into gear properly with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact also stated that the vehicle jerked while the accelerator was depressed, and the vehicle lunged forward while depressing the brake pedal. The contact also stated that the windshield wipers were inoperable and failed to function while activating the windshield wipers. The contact also stated that the rearview camera inadvertently activated while driving at undisclosed speeds, and the instrument panel failed to function properly. The vehicle was taken to the dealer was where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission control module and windshield wiper motor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 46,000.
Body control module had a recall I had to get it fixed for the 2nd time and it’s giving us issues again, jeep has 46k miles and steering column control module is faulty and unconnect dash/radio/ac temp is also faulty, replaced blower motor and still having ac issues only mechanic has been Jim Browne dealer since we have had this jeep for a year .Jeep jerks when braking and does not brake it goes faster.when pressing gas to drive jeep goes slower.jeep dash of connect is blue screen and when reversing rear camera appears and does Not disappear not even when in drive or park must turn off jeep for camera to turnoff
My oil filter housing is bad on my Jeep. They were built with plastic which everyone knows doesn't last long and now changed to aluminum because they realized it was a problem for many owners. The issue you spend lots of money until can get to a shop and then a lot more money for repair. Leaking oil and coolant everywhere until you find out the issue plus the risk of fire if overheats extremely. My complaint proves they finally realized that plastic was no good but owner stuck with bill of replacement and shop fees. I have shopped around several part stores for the part and I am shocked at the number of people who have replaced this part. Just wondering why no recall issued especially with them changing the material of the part.
Parking break is in need of service before it is set and won’t be able to get it off.
Approximately 2'years.ago I was on my way home from work around 10:30 pm. I was in moderate to heavy traffic and the jeep threw a code saying service transmission. I wasn't able to accelerate. I had to navigate carefully through traffic with my hazards on to get to a safe place to stop. I was finally able to and turned off my car. I let it sit for a few minutes then I try to restart it again. The check engine light was still on it still said service transmission. I tried to put the vehicle in reverse, and it jumped so hard I thought that I had hit something. I turn it back off again and left it off for approximately 20 minutes. I finally tried to restart it and it started fine put it in reverse and it was able to go in reverse and I was able to limp it home. Thank goodness a traffic wasn't too bad I was able to pull over. I took my car to I trusted mechanic and they look through everything and they could not figure out why it was doing that. Not long after I got a postcard in the mail stating that the TCM need to be replaced. I called the number that was on the card and they stated that that particular part was on back order and they would call me. I gave them my information. They never called me back. I tried to go to work again a few days later and the same exact thing. But this time I have video of it. So I took it to my local Suncoast Chrysler Jeep Dodge ram not the place I bought it from but within the same hub. I showed them the video the gentleman there said that he wa
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while her daughter was driving 30 MPH, the vehicle began to jerk, the driver lost control of the vehicle, and the vehicle stalled. The shift key inoperable message was displayed. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V343000 (Power Train); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer to be diagnosed and it was determined that the PTU was the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to another local dealer, where it was determined that the transfer case, PTU, and rear differential were leaking. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 124,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that the parking brake was engaged and failed to release as needed. The parking brake warning light was illuminated. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.
This has been an issue since I have bought the vehicle in 2020. I have taken it to the shop to be repaired 3 times in which was told the issue was repaired. The rear differential and transfer case units are bad. Upon my research there are multiple and I mean tons of 2014 Jeep Cherokee limited with this same issue. It is a known manufacturer issue and it concerns a huge road safety for drivers, passengers and other drivers on the road. Major concern. I have reported this once before and I am reporting again as my vehicle has been fixed 3 times and it still is an issue so this needs to be addressed for other Jeep owners for the safety of everyone. Please advice quickly and please get this safety concern on the recall list AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! ALSO PLEASE ADVISE THIS TO THE JEEP MANUFACTURER TO GET THIS TAKEN CARE OF IN ALL THE NEW VEHICLES!
I believe this is an issue with the parking brake module. The vehicle tries to shutdown or stalls while driving (in my case at 60 MPH on highway). It literally loses power and I get the disabled parking brake warning on dashboard. Losing driving power and stalling while moving at that speed has been very dangerous and life threatening. When I start the vehicle it acts as if the parking brake is engaged even though it is not.
Follow up of complaint tracking # 11665800 and 11667793. My Cherokee 2014 has DTC U0402 since 2018. Jeep does not want to do a recall for change of transmission for my car. Jeep wants to charge me $11000 for this repair, despite DTC was evident when the car was under warranty, and Jeep told me not to worry about it. Delaware Motor vehicle has given me a tag that will expire on 07/24/25, and DMV does not want to give me more extensions, DMV has told me clearly that IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE MY CAR, AND IT NEEDS REPAIR. If NHTSA is not able to get a recall for my car before 07/19/25, I will have to sell my car for a very low price to Jeep, despite that my car is in very good condition and 27,509 miles. Jeep has not been honest with me since 2018 about DTC U0402, Jeep told me not to worry about it because the "code was stored but inactive". Jeep got advantage of my ignorance in this issue.
My 2014 Jeep Cherokee began exhibiting repeated transmission and electrical malfunctions, particularly after startup or while idling. The most concerning issue is the appearance of a “Switch to Park” warning message, which occurs while the vehicle is already in Drive. When this happens, the transmission fails to engage properly, and I’m unable to shift into gear without cycling through Park multiple times. **seems to start happening after filling gas tank to full** This poses a major safety risk, especially in intersections or during stop-and-go traffic. The car has also experienced flashing odometer issues, rough idle, and erratic behavior when shifting — all of which point to a communication failure between core modules (BCM, TCM, PCM). A Chrysler-certified dealership performed a proxy alignment after acknowledging that the modules were “talking at the same time.” While no fault codes appeared on my OBD-II scanner, the dealer determined that the issue required a software-level alignment. However, I was told this is not part of any current recall or TSB, despite my symptoms being identical to other complaints already logged (e.g., NHTSA ID 11425007). This problem has occurred multiple times, both before and after dealership service. I was also informed there are no current recalls, but VIN-based systems like VinSeeker.com have suggested there may be open recall alerts related to transmission or software issues. This type of malfunction places the driver and passengers at ris
Failed Power Transfer Unit. Unable to shift to 4WD because system is not recognizing. Service engine light has come on. This is a widely known issue with the Jeep vehicles and so far there is no warranty extension covering my 2014 vehicle.
The 4WD system is no longer working. Put in park and tried to shift and now I have an error warning light. 4WS system unavailable. Service required. The PTU seems to be the issue but the open recalls I have found do not cover this issue for my vehicle.
Submission to NHTSA Regarding Transmission Issues in 2014 Jeep Cherokee Latitude Summary of Concerns I purchased a 2014 Jeep Cherokee Latitude in November 2024, and the transmission issues began approximately six months later. The vehicle exhibits the following problems: •Harsh and delayed shifting •Sudden jerks and gear hunting during low-speed driving •Severe hesitation from a stop, especially at intersections or in traffic •Loss of power under throttle, with unpredictable shifts These issues make the vehicle unsafe for daily driving, particularly in traffic or at intersections where a lack of predictable acceleration increases the risk of accidents. Despite a visit to the Midas dealer, where these issues were reproduced and linked to multiple Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs), the problems persist. The transmission's erratic behavior, even after software updates, remains unresolved and poses a significant safety concern for both the driver and others on the road. Resolution Sought I respectfully urge the NHTSA to: •Investigate the transmission behavior in the 2014 Jeep Cherokee Latitude •Consider initiating a full recall or service campaign to address these persistent transmission issues •Demand that Jeep implement a permanent solution to ensure the safety and reliability of affected vehicles The ongoing transmission problems in this vehicle, as reported by myself and other owners, necessitate immediate action to prevent potential accidents or injuries. A comprehensive an
This is an addendum to complain number 11665800 I would like NHTSA do a recall for the transmission of my Jeep Cherokee 2014. I read an Article by Clifford Atiyeh, published on 07/08/2019 titled: Jeep recalls 2014 Cherokee again as ZF Nine-Speed Transmission Problems continue. I did not get this recall. 1-I bought the car new on 05/2014 2-Meggee Service Advisor Thomas Heck (phone 302-856-0064, Georgetown, Delaware) knew that my car was showing engine light on and code U0402, receipt dated 09/04/2018. At this time my car was under warranty, and technician did not do anything about it, despite DTC was there after performing recall U63. The Jeep technician told me not to worry about it. 3-Receipt dated 08/23/2019, , got recall V69. DTC U0402 was there. 4-Receipt dated 09/30/2022, my car got replacement of primary fuel pump. Car showed DTC U0402 again, and technician wrote "unrelated code", and told me not to worry. 5-Receipt dated 05/30/2025, I took my car to Jeep technician, because my car failed DMV inspection for DTC U4402 (Jeep code U0402). This time Jeep Service Technician said that because of this code U0402, the car needed a change of transmission, and it cost $11000. Receipt dated 06/06/2025, I took my car to DMV Pre-certified Technician, and he also told me the car needed a change of transmission, cost $11,232 6-I complained to Megee because Jeep technician knew about this problem with code U0402 since 2018, when the car was under warranty, and they told me not to worry
Vehicle randomly imitates being in neutral when it is actually in drive mode. It has lost power on long hill climbs wthout any downshifting as would be necessary. Vehicle will occasionally accelerate on its own without notice. This has happened both on the open road and setting at red lights. These are sometimes able to reset with the turning off and back on of the motor. These symptoms started very randomly, but have increased in events over time.
Jumpy Transmission, when shifting gears vehicle pauses, jumps a bit, makes a noise, then shifts into the new gear. Everyone in the car jerks their head when the gears jump. The dealership has looked at the vehicle a few times, and say nothing is wrong. An outside mechanic looked and said this is a common problem with my make and model and it is a faulty transmission issue.
Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that upon checking the Carfax History report, it was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 107,079 and upon checking the Carfax History report check, it was discovered that the mileage was 280,000.
Car bought new on 2014. On 2018 car started to show engine light to illuminate on and off. Jeep technician comply with recalls, and did not change transmission despite DTC U0402 was there all the time, and car was under warranty. Now, Delaware Motor Vehicle does not want to renew my tag because DTC U0402 is related to increase of emissions. Cost of changing transmission is $11,000. Jeep office does not want to authorize the change of transmission despite the problem started when the car was 4 years old. Not fair at all. I am worry to have accidents because of this DTC.
Failed 4WD due to failed PTU or Transfer Case. Jeep extended a warranty for this but ONLY for two OBD codes, if yours fails for any other reason, and there are many, like a bad actuator, you don't get the warranty. From my research this is a WIDESPREAD issue and REQUIRES a recall. This is a VERY expensive fix if you don't match the exact OBD code, but it affects thousands of people.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power. The contact was able to pull over to the shoulder of the roadway, where the vehicle returned to normal functionality. The service 4x4 warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the power transfer unit. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V343000 (Power Train); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 130,000.
Service Shifter Light was not on when i bought the car, shifter was replaced due to a recall, light came on with the new part, dealership won’t replace
Just rained, while driving with my family in the car. The brake and parking brake lock up the car. No accidents. But the car won't disengage the brake saying service parking brake.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
