The contact owns a 2025 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at various speeds, the imminent crash braking failed to function as intended. The first time that the failure occurred, the contact's wife was driving in the rain, and a beeping sound was coming from the vehicle, and the vehicle stopped independently. The vehicle returned to normal functionality after several minutes. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, while his wife was driving in slow traffic, there was an abnormal beeping sound coming from the vehicle before the vehicle independently stopped. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle returned to normal functionality minutes later; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic, and the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 1,000.
I’ve been driving this car for nearly a year, and during that time I’ve had multiple incidents where the Forward Collision-Avoidance system applied sudden hard braking when it wasn’t necessary, creating dangerous situations. I don't think I will be fortunate every time. I believe there is a serious issue with how the Hyundai's FCA system is operating and it needs to be investigated as a priority. Currently I am driving with it turned off every time I start the car. On my research I found this issue has been reported by multiple other drivers as well and I don't see any acknowledgement or reference from Hyundai on this so far.
I’ve been driving this car for nearly a year, and during that time I have observed 6+ incidents when my instrument cluster went blank and rebooted in the middle of the road while the vehicle is moving. This seems to be widespread issue with no resolution from Hyundai what so ever. I have raised this issue with Hyundai as well.
Engine RPMs surged and the car accelerated forward without foot on the gas pedal concerned about possible pedestrian accident or collision with objects and prop. damage. dealer was unable to duplicate the problem and no repair was made there is no warning...I never know when it will happen and it has occurred in a number of different circumstances
Hard braking first occurred on a major highway with no prior notice that this would happen in close call accidents. The cars traffic had to veer away from me in order to avoid hitting me. Another highway (95) incident was a 18 wheel semi that had to move to the shoulder and could have easily totaled my car and me. I then researched this and found I could delay the action be setting the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist mode to "Late". This helped in giving notice for some time, however the hard braking occurred again on a regular two lane small highway as I switched lanes, saw a car stopping suddenly and the brakes locked up. (This is the latest incident as dated below). There was no "Late" warning, the brakes just locked up. Being in fear of my and my families life I did further research and found that I could disable "brake assist" and only get warnings - which is what should be the default - BUT, this must be done each time I start the car. If my wife drives and forgets to do this each time I now fear for her life!!! This is not a simple matter. It is unconscionable and horrible this type of control over basic transportation is allowed to exist. This must be addressed and corrected! I'm all in on helping make meaningful change to this issue.
Rear Door automatically opens randomly. This feature is configured to be disabled through the onboard settings.
The forward collision avoidance engaged when it was unnecessary and nearly caused me to be rear ended. It doesn't slow you down, it brings your vehicle to a complete stop and leaves you stuck unable to move for a few seconds... just long enough for the person behind you to read end you. This is incredibly dangerous. I would speculate that this feature will result in many rear end wrecks and should be addressed expediently or Hyundai may risk a significant class action lawsuit.
Horn inoperative. Vehicle sets diagnostic trouble code C2A23 indicating horn switch / clock spring failure. Multiple owners report similar failures. Horn is a safety device and failure may prevent warning other drivers. This include the airbag that might be affected since the clock spring is having an issue.
Had just turned out onto a major road and started to accelerate. At approximately 30 mph forward collision system alerted and applied automatic emergency brakes even though the next car was several car lengths ahead of me and there was absolutely no risk of forward collision. The vehicle immediately behind me had to slam on their brakes to avoid rear ending me. Thankfully, this was coming out of school zone so their speed was not high. At regular street speeds this malfunction would have likely resulted in a crash with injury. During the time that the automatic brake system was activated I could not override. I used gas pedal but car would not accelerate until the system stopped, perhaps 2-3 seconds later. Car was purchased used within last month and had an inspection by seller then, but I am not aware of any inspection by manufacturer/ dealer.
11/2/2025- The forward collision warning and the automatic emergency braking system engaged and brought my vehicle to a complete stop in the middle of the road when there was no imminent danger of a forward collision occurring. My vehicle was rear ended by the vehicle behind me as a result of the sudden and complete braking of my vehicle. This same incident happened a few days before this collision, but there was no vehicle behind my vehicle, so no rear end accident happened at that time. 12/1/2026- vehicle inspected at Jim Click Hyundai regarding the sudden stopping of the vehicle. Jim Click determined a fault code FRONT CAMERA BLOCKAGE. Dealer said they cleared the code and the problem should not return. On or around 12/8/2025 the 2025 Hyundai again had the front collision avoidance system randomly setting off alarms when the vehicle was driving on the freeway and other vehicles were traveling alongside the 2025 Hyundai. There was no emergency braking occurring at this time. 12/9/2025- the 2025 Hyundai returned to Jim Click Hyundai and at that time the dealer determined the front camera was showing an obstruction when none was there. They replaced the front camera with a new camera. 12/28/2025- the same problem of the front collision avoidance system and the automatic emergency braking engaged again, even though there was a new front camera installed on the vehicle. The 2025 Hyundai vehicle came to a complete stop in traffic. The vehicle ahead 2+ car lengths ahead swerved f
The emergency breaking system automatically engages whenever it feels it wants to. It has become extremely dangerous to drive the vehicle on a daily basis. I have been in contact with Hyundai, Hyundai consumed affairs and have brought the vehicle back to two dealerships to see if they can duplicate the problem. They have been incredulous thus far and still I am left with the safety issue. I feel very scared to drive the vehicle. I am not sure what to do at this point because Hyundai said if they can’t duplicate the problem then the vehicle is working as designed but is it going to take a serious accident for this to be taken seriously. It has been happening since September 2025. Thank you
No visible speedometer as the dashboard was either blank or flashed message "No Signal". The HUD was not showing either. A vehicle unable to display the speed is inherently unsafe. This occurred with an overnight parked car. After about 20 minutes of driving, normal operation resumed.
WHEN OPERATING WILL SCREEN GOES BLANK ABD INDICATED “LOST SIGNAL” DURING THIS TIME NO SPEED INDICATION. ON HYUNDAI FORUM THERE ARE MANY WHO ARE HAVING SAME PROBLEM.
I started to accelerate from a full-stop to turn left at arrow onto highway ramp and car's emergency brakes came on with a real jolt - almost rear-ended by semi behind me. So scary. So dangerous. Backache, now, too.
We have had a suspension clunk since we bought this in April 2025. Something is loose in the right rear. They have replace the right and left rear shock mount, the right rear shock and it still persists. There is a clunk or grabbing noise when the brakes are applied as it almost comes to a stop, it appears to be in the front. This has not been found, the last mechanic that looked at this said all new vehicles do this.
The Automatic Emergency Braking system, I think it may be called (or is a part of) the Forward Collision Avoidance system by Hyundai, triggered incorrectly while on Interstate 265. My car was travelling at about 35 MPH on the off ramp when the Automatic Emergency Braking system triggered and cause my car to rapidly decelerate to a near standstill. The vehicle following behind me had to swerve into another lane to avoid hitting my car. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or service center. The component has not been inspected yet, but we will be bringing it to the dealer in the near future. There were not warnings or messages that this was about to happen other than the emergency sound and light when the Automated Emergency Braking engaged. This has happened twice before on other roads and in other situations with this car.
Customer of Hyundai 4 years now. issues with the Forward Collison-Avoidance Assist (FCA) on my 2025 Tuscan, malfunctioning, aggressively breaking, fantom breaking when absolutely no imminent collision will happen, causing other drivers to come within inches of a rear crash with me, also the same fantom breaking while parallel parking. the breaking causes me to be thrown towards my windshield. made appointment with a Hyundai service they inspected on a diagnostic machine and no recommended "codes" were available after test was done, no repairs made they said my car is fine. happened again within 2 blocks of service center PLEASE HELP
There was an accident involving this vehicle where another vehicle pulled out in front causing a collision. There was damage only to the front of the vehicle which caused several malfunctions. Prior to the impact the break assist did not operate which may have prevented the collision but when the impact happened the seat belts locked in place and the driver side window would not roll down nor would the driver side door open. This seems to be a safety hazard as if the vehicle were on fire how would the driver be able to get out? The problem was reported to the dealer, with no resolution. I do have photos of the damage that can be available upon request.
Vehicle dash intermittently goes out. Flickers, goes dark, or shows every warning that exists on the panel. Could be unsafe as speed, gas gage, or other warnings that provide safety are going dark. Took it to dealer in Roseville, Ca. They tried to repair it, but problem began to occur again a week later. I have a video of it, but can’t show here.
Horn stopped before odometer hit 6,000 miles, dealer was unfamiliar with problem until I googled it and found out Hyundai is having horn issues, then they were aware of problem. Took 34 days to get this issue repaired.
The car keeps randomly dying. Completely loses power even when driving
Issue Type: Intermittent Electronic System Failure / Critical Safety Hazard Description of Incident: A severe safety-related incident occurred while driving at night on 12/29/2025, at approximately 5:48 pm. Under fully dark winter conditions in MA, while the vehicle was in motion with the headlights set to AUTO, the following events occurred: Total System Blackout: All interior and exterior lighting systems suddenly failed simultaneously, including the digital instrument cluster, infotainment display, and backlighting for all illuminated buttons and controls. The complete failure of exterior lighting and interior displays resulted in an immediate loss of forward visibility and access to critical driving information. Duration: The blackout lasted approximately two seconds before the system appeared to reboot. Recurrence: Approximately ten seconds after the first incident, the same total blackout occurred again under identical conditions. Vehicle Status: The engine remained running throughout the incidents; however, the simultaneous loss of lighting and instrumentation created an extremely high-risk driving situation. This incident constitutes a critical safety failure. The vehicle had experienced repeated electrical system failures prior to this incident, and was previously presented to the dealer on 8/7/2025 for diagnosis and repair. The dealer was unable to determine the cause of the malfunction and failed to take appropriate corrective action to address these issues: 07/13/
The Driver Attention Warning is not disabled, even when doing exactly that in Settings. This is incredibly annoying and distracting and is a major reason I cannot recommend this car to others.
The automatic brake system triggers when there is no obstacle. It has caused the car to stop suddenly in the middle of the road and almost become rear ended several times. We took it to the Hyundai service center and they said they’ve had complaints of this before but checked the system and don’t see any issues.
This vehicle has had numerous problems since I leased it. To summarize, at times the vehicle randomly shifts out of the ECO mode, usually into the SNOW mode. The engine has also raced, hesitated, bucked, rattled and vibrated when trying to change gears. Sometimes, these actions are subtle and sometimes they are borderline violent. This happens more frequently when the engine is cold. Additionally, the AEB system has activated a number of times while in stop and go traffic, even though the vehicle in front was moving forward. On at least 3 of these occasions, i barely avoided being rear-ended by the vehicle following me. The final issue that I have noticed is a problem with the odometer. It has appeared to work normally most of the time, but I have noticed times where I didn't think the odometer accurately reflected the distance I had traveled. I was able to synch the odometer with the trip odometer on a local road that I was quite familiar with. The trip odometer registered 1.8 miles while the odometer only registered 1 mile traveled. All of these issues happened multiple times and are intermittent. I have had the vehicle to Hyundai dealers on 5 occasions, and they claim to have not been able to duplicate any of the problems that I have been consistently logging in to a "diary" that represents a list of when I have noticed these issues. I have been in constant contact with Hyundai, but they promised to send out a factory rep, then reneged, instead relying on the local service
The car in front of me, 8 to 10 feet ahead, slow down and turn on their blinker. My car slammed so hard on its break. It threw me and my dog forward. It never gave us a warning until it slammed. There was plenty of time for me to slow down, but also the car was partially already in the turn lane. There is then 223 seconds where my car will not move forward. I am a sitting duck to cars coming behind me.
I was travelling East in the left kane on the southern state parkway in Long Island, NY. The car in fron of me stopped short. I had plenty of time to slow down, then my car brakes locked up and I was almost rearended. Fortunately the driver behind me was alert and moved to the shoulder to avoid contact.
Multiple times the car has locked the brakes when there was a car several car lengths in front of me. This has resulted in me nearly being rear ended three different times. The force of the stop has also caused me to have neck and back pain. This is u safe and will result in injuries. There are many reports about this on Reddit.
-The center display screen system failed. The screen intermittently glitches, strobes, freezes or goes completely black while the vehicle is in operation. This screen controls GPS/Navigation, backup camera display, vehicle settings and warning alerts. The vehicle and system are available for inspection upon request. -The failure creates a significant safety risk. When the screen blacks out or strobes, I lose access to navigation, backup camera visibility, vehicle alerts and system controls. The strobing/glitching is distracting and unsafe while driving, and the loss of display during driving and parking maneuvers increases the risk of collision or injury to myself, passengers, pedestrians and other vehicles. -Yes, the vehicle has been brought to an authorized Hyundai dealership 5 separate times for the same issue. This dealership has attempted repairs, replacements, and troubleshooting of the screen system but the problem continues to occur. -Yes. The vehicle has been inspected multiple times by authorized Hyundai dealership service departments acting on behalf of the manufacturer. Hyundai corporate has also been contacted regarding the unresolved defect. -The primary symptom is sudden screen malfunction without warning, including flickering, strobing, freezing or complete black out. There are no consistent warning lamps prior to failure. The issue first appeared in August 2025 and has continued intermittently since that time. No collision, accident, injury or property damage
Approximate date 10/7/2025. Driving 20mph clear daylight sunny conditions in right lane, another vehicle in left lane put on right blinker to merge in front of me into my lane. The merging vehicle was 3 car lengths ahead and had plenty of space to merge. Merging vehicle was only half way into right lane when without touching the brakes and no warning alarm the wheels locked up completely, skidding to a complete stop, almost got rear ended. 2 days later on 10/9/2025 same weather conditions while driving on highway the traffic was stop and go,speed 40mph. A vehicle ahead of me applied their brakes,no imminent threat, I placed my foot on brake pedal as a precaution, then brakes locked up so I pumped brakes thinking what else could I do? This did nothing, brakes remained locked until vehicle stopped. Almost got rear ended again. I can’t remember if any audible alarm or dash warning. These were the only 2 incidents with braking failure. Hyundai Dealer booked appointment but they could not find any issues with the braking system on 10/2025. Mechanic could not reproduce braking issue. When I picked up vehicle I spoke to the mechanic. He said “ if the braking issue occurs again please make another appointment. The salesman who I purchased the vehicle said “shut off the warning system”. Which I declined his offer. Thank you!
The dashboard and heads up display intermittently goes on and off. All warning lights are on when the dashboard comes back on. It goes off long enough to not know how fast you are going. Hyundai has this as a known issue for Limited trims of the Hyundai Tucson yet they only tell you to take it to the dealer for the vehicle to be fixed. Customers have taken their vehicle back to the dealership after the dealerships stated that the issue was fixed because the issue happens again a few days later. This is a safety issue that needs to be addressed.
I crossed red light, truck coming from my left , I hit his car side , he hit my front car , my airbag didn't open although it is totally loss , despite the other car air bag opened
Component that fails & available for inspection upon request? HVAC heat exchange and faulty gas gauge. I drive from Minneapolis to Warroad, MN frequently and the floor wells has insufficient heat hence impairing use and safety in Minnesota's severe climate. I have videos on the following but I am unable to upload videos to your site: (1) when I have heat on high, full blast and to foot well ONLY, the dashboard vent is 115-143 degrees (using a digital food thermometer) and a ~60 degree difference with the footwell at 65-85 (although 85 degrees sounds warm at 1 degree outside my feet are very cold - I would be happy to have you test this with me). (2) Brand new SUV consistently 1.5 - 3 hrs to warm up. I explained to Hyundai this is NOT a software issue rather an HVAC air exchange issue. (3) The gas gauge consistently underestimates the remaining fuel available by 50% in cold weather - an issue that between Bemidji, MN and Baudette, MN (102 miles/1hr 45min) there are few gas stations. On 11/11/2025 I took the SUV to first Bloomington Hyundai - they said it is working as designed. Then 11/20/2025 to Morries Hyundai said they are aware of a similar situation with the EON. However, without an "error code" Hyundai is unwilling to fix the air exchange. Additionally, I opened case#: XXX[XXX] -68 with Hyundai corporate - additionally they are unwilling to admit fault - this vehicle should NOT be sold in Minnesota's extreme climate conditions. How was your safety of others put at risk?
I purchased the 2025 Hyundai Tuscon Limited in October this year. My conern is the headlights. When driving at night using the normal headlights, on the road on the left side shining there appears to be a black spot ahead of me. I've had asked front seat passenger if they noted it also to which they affirmed. I did asked my Hyundai Dealer about this and they stated that it is intended that way so that the oncoming vehicle is not blinded by my headlights. I'm driving on a 4 lane divide highway and it is very disracting to me as I feel I cannot see anything on the left side of the left lane when I am in the right lane. This is very distracting and they informed that it's that way on all of thier moderls
I am reporting a serious safety and reliability concern with my 2025 Hyundai Tucson. At only about 2,000 miles, I was informed by the Hyundai dealership that the transmission has already failed and needs to be replaced. This vehicle is essentially brand new and should not be experiencing a major powertrain failure so early in its lifespan. The transmission issue has caused significant concern regarding the safety of the vehicle. Sudden failure of a major drivetrain component creates an increased risk of loss of power, unpredictable drivability, and unsafe operation in traffic. This is especially concerning because this vehicle was already given to me as a replacement for a previous Hyundai Tucson that qualified under my state’s lemon law. A transmission failure at such a low mileage indicates a possible manufacturing defect or a systemic quality issue that could affect other consumers. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this matter to determine if this is part of a broader problem in the 2025 Hyundai Tucson model line. This situation is unacceptable for a vehicle this new, and it raises serious concerns about long term safety and reliability. I am seeking further review and action so that other consumers are not placed in similar unsafe situations.
Bought car end of April brand new. June 25 brought in, console display went blank. Tried to start my car 11/10 and it would not recognize the key. Had to have it towed to dealership. Car battery was not dead, fob could start car, open doors, etc, but the car shut off as soon as you tried to start the car inside. Originally told fob problem. Nope. The told security control. Nope. Now being told it’s the BDC, basically the “control brain” of the car. Part is back ordered and my car is sitting parked at the dealership. It’s useless. Did some research and found that the BDC is becoming more and more common with a lot of people that have this car. It’s only 7 months old. No warning, dealer knows it won’t recognize fobs and not a fob problem. I was told, that the screen going blank in June was connected to this.
The Forward Attention Warning system performs erratically, frequently disabling the adaptive cruise control without warning. Even when it does emit a warning, which again, is erractic, the warning is barely audible. When conditions, such as grooved pavement or loud cabin noises, such as when a window or moonroof is open, the warning is completely in-audible. Similarly, the warning message displayed is not readable within the 0.5 - 1.0 sec (best estimate) that it is shown, as it is several lines of text - a distraction in itself. The disabling occurred during times when this ADAS feature is most value, cruising at highway speeds in heavier traffic - a time when automatic speed control and braking, along with maintaining a clear distance, are all invaluable to driver safety.
Once entire display screen including entertainment display and dashboard display went black/ turned off while driving. It came back on within a few seconds. Once dashboard display (without entertainment) went black/ turned off while driving. Last a few seconds.
The automatic braking was inappropriately applied while I was coming to a controlled stop on a 45mph stop light intersection. I was already slowing down and about 30 feet behind the car in front of me the Collision Avoidance warning starting going off, slightly applied brakes (to the additional amount I was already applying) then slammed on the brakes to a complete stop. There was some teen behind me who wasn't paying attention, and obviously no one expects the car in front of them to slam on their brakes 30 feet behind the cars in front of them, then plowed into back end of my car. This isn't the first time it's happened and I wasn't even at risk of collision as I was already slowing down in the other instances. But this time it caused an accident and injury. I am suffering from whiplash and possible herniated disk. The system is on the Late setting as well but is still dangerous to drive. There needs to be a firmware update or sensor recall, this is very dangerous!
In October 2025, the center display screen in my 2025 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid began shutting off repeatedly while the vehicle was in motion. The screen controls essential functions including speed information, navigation, backup camera, safety alerts, and hybrid system data. When it shuts off, all of these features become unavailable without warning. The failure is intermittent and continues to reoccur. The component involved is the center display/infotainment system and may affect related radar and safety-system warnings. The dealer stated they duplicated the issue and reported that it was repaired, but the same display failure occurred again afterward while I was driving. The vehicle is currently with the dealer and is available for inspection upon request. My safety and the safety of others is put at risk because when the screen shuts off, I lose access to critical vehicle information. This has happened at highway speeds, including one instance where the display shut off approximately eight times within 20 minutes. In addition, the radar warning system has activated when no nearby vehicles were present, creating distraction and uncertainty. The problem has been reproduced by the dealership, documented by me on video, and reported to the manufacturer. The vehicle has been inspected multiple times by an authorized Hyundai service center and reviewed by the manufacturer’s customer service department. There have been no police or insurance inspections because the defect has not
Defective horn after a few months. Had to take to dealership for repair
Attention warning... If you wear glasses that transition to dark, the system shuts down the car on cruise control. Numerous warning lights and bells. Take a break warning and sounds continuously popping up on the screen. There is no way to disable the eyes forward attention system. You cannot wear sunglasses as it can't see your eyes. I use my cruise control all the time. But the system shuts it down. This happens on all 2025 Hyundai equipped with the attention system.
The contact owns a 2025 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed on three occasions and depressing the brake pedal, the Forward Collision Avoidance system malfunctioned. The contact stated that upon depressing the brake pedal, the Forward Collision Avoidance system activated the Automatic Emergency Braking system excessively, causing the brakes to engage forcefully, and almost caused a crash on one occasion. The dealer was not notified of the failure. No further information was available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a complaint was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 2,000.
I started the car and put it in gear and it would not move. Then the check hybrid system and transmission warning showed up. This happened two times and I had to have the car towed in. The second time, it was determined that it is related to a recent recall for the Oil pump unit OPU Software. This recall is not listed any where and drivers are not being informed of it. Hyundai is not responding to my complaint.
The contact owns a 2025 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH, the instrument panel turned black. The contact pulled over to the right side of the road, turned off and restarted the vehicle, and the vehicle operated as intended. The dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed, but the diagnostic information was not provided. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 2,000.
We were driving on I4 in stop and go traffic. Our speed was under 25 mph and we were over a full car length back from the vehicle in front of us. I was actively braking to come to a stop due to traffic and the forward collision / emergency braking kicked in and stopped us immediately. This caused a car behind us to almost hit us and cause an accident due to sudden stopping. This happened 3 separate times within a 30 minute timeframe with 2 different cars behind us. The system will take control of braking the car and the steering wheel, and will not always give it back immediately to be able to continue driving. This has occurred previously when slowing down due to someone turning in front of us just in every day driving, and has almost caused a wreck then as well. Our local Hyundai dealer said there was no recall or issue with the system. This is dangerous and going to cause an accident sooner or later.
While driving my car to Virginia to see my daughter, the oil light came on in the middle of a highway, where the speed limit was 70, The car slowed down and I had to pull off to the shoulder as the car lost all acceleration, making it very dangerous on a highway I waited for about 2 hours for a tow truck I waited for almost 2 months to get my car back and it happened again after having it back for a little over a week Mind you, I bought the car brand new with 45 miles on it and the first problem happened a little over 2 weeks after I bought it Hopefully this can be resolved so that my car doesn’t spend more time being serviced than me driving it
Forward collision alert system has slamed the breaks on for no reason. The vehicle begins abruptly stop for no reason. On two of the occasions I was almost rear-end by following vehicles. The system needs to be recalled.
Instrument cluster screen and HUD go entirely blank intermittently, for various lengths of time. Loss of speedometer is a safety issue. Also, have no idea of what other functions may, or may not be working. Dealer acknowledges seeing and servicing this problem for other owners. And Hyundai owners online forum report the same issue. Dealer has replacement component ordered, but not 100% sure of cause or solution. No warning whatever. First occurred shortly after purchase in July 2025, with less than 1000 miles on it.
Reading these
NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
