Getting the following error messages on 2019 Odyssey: - Brake system lights - Lane keeping assist problem (LKAS); - Auto high-beam problem (A) - Road departure mitigation system problem - Collision mitigation system problem - Adaptive cruise control problem (ACC) - Brake system lights These errors have caused safety issues, especially when someone comes in front of the car randomly or cuts you off. Also, the Brake system lights being on always make you think the brakes will not work when needed. These errors seem to be a known issue with Honda car owners putting drivers at risk and also the passengers.
2019 Honda Odyssey complaints
Owner reports filed with NHTSA about this vehicle, newest first and reproduced as filed. They are unverified accounts: one proves nothing, and a pattern across many is the thing worth reading. Back to the full 2019 record →
The vehicle's tailgate stopped working and a series of distracting alerts repeatedly popped up on the instrument panel. Upon inspection, the liftgate control module had a significant amount of corrosion on the pins and on the circuit board itself, despite the surrounding area seeming dry. Replacement of the control module did not completely fix the problem because the connector pins are corroded and dirty.
When car stops and Am I go to accelerate. The pedal. is dead and won't respond. Take. 3 seconds for it to accelerate. And if you're foot in an accelerator. it will take off and squill the tires.
After getting vehicle serviced twice in the past 6 months for 2 different recalls, the alarm has been randomly going off in the middle of night. Then today when trying to start the vehicle the engine clicked nonstop and all the dashboard lights and headlights flickered uncontrollably. When researching this issue it sounds like its an internal failure within the keyless access/TPMS control unit, which also appears to be a frequent issue with this vehicle. If this is such a frequent issue with so many cards how is this not a recall?
My 2019 odyssey has occasionally stalled while at lights. We had received the safety recall in the mail months ago. Though it states they currently have NO FIX for this dangerous issue and that you have an increased risk of crash or injury. And that it wont be able to pass emissions. TODAY my vehicle stalled out while in motion. While transporting my four small children. By the grace of God it didnt result in an accident. I contacted my local honda dealer who told me to contact America Honda since they have no fix per honda for the recall at this time. I did so and they told me they cant do anything about it and to contact my dealer. They do not provide loaners for any reason no matter the safety concern. The check engine light it also on due to the issue and wont be able to pass emissions later on, and america honda says oh well, contact your local dealer. They should have an answer. They have stated to me that america honda hasn’t relayed information to them and dont know what to do at this point. My family’s safety is in danger because Honda cant find a fix. What do I do?
My check engine light came on along with an "Emissions System Problem" error around 68,000 miles. Upon checking out the car, my local Honda dealer found error code P219-B which indicates that the fuel injectors need to be replaced. The dealership stated that this is a known issue with multiple Honda TSB service bulletins regarding regarding problem. Honda has extended the warranty for fuel injectors to 150,000 miles, but only for a certain VIN range, from which my vehicle is excluded.
While operating the vehicle on a highway, under normal weather conditions the vehicle was traveling at a normal rate of speed while Side airbag curtains on both, drivers and passengers side, spontaneously deployed. There was no collision with any vehicle or object to cause deployment. Side airbags caused temporary visual and hearing impairment from deployment making vehicle operation on highway extremely dangerous to safely navigate to shoulder of highway to a place of safety. The side curtain airbags blocked side mirrors and all side widows. Unable to see out of vehicle to navigate to shoulder of highway. There is no external damage to vehicle. There were no indication lights warning of an airbag system issue. Vehicle is currently at a Honda service center awaiting appointment to assess vehicle.
Received several error messages with collision avoidance, braking, lane keeping, front collision avoidance. I took it into the dealership and they quoted me 3k to fix it. I had code DTC U3000-49 multipurpose camera unit/ millimeter wave radar internal failure. They could not explain why it would come back on and work for a while and indicated both systems have to be replaced because of their software. I took the vehicle to dealership two months earlier for loss of acceleration and engine not accelerating when pressing pedal. Alternator replace. Upon searching the internet, this seems to be a common issue with the Odyssey dating as far back as 5 years. My errors are the following: -ACC issue -LKAS issue -collision mitigation system -auto high beam problem. I am beyond frustrated because these are all safety related systems. A close friend and master mechanic believes that it is an electrical/ software and not a component issue since the components seem to be functioning at times. I am not sure why all of these systems are failing at once.
The car essentially stalls and the gas pedal becomes unresponsive at times. It is mostly from if the car is stopped or if you are growing slower and then try to go faster I.e. turning on a stop sign into a road. I continue to press the gas pedal and then it will peel out once the car comes to. It is terrifying because I feel like I cannot trust the vehicle and it carries my children. I am terrified it will stall out and I will get hit. We have fixed all the recalls and brought it into a Honda dealership but they said they could not find any issues. The person we had was not helpful and we escalated to the manager.
Multiple safety system error codes began popping up while driving, transmitted, drive gear "D" on dash was flashing and when I pushed the park shift button it went to neutral for a few seconds before going into park, honda is not sure why error codes won't go away after clearing,
Engine made a clicking sound, I complained about it for nearly 10 months to dealership and other mechanics until I forced a mechanic to drive around with me. They first found metal shavings in my oil pan, found that rod bearings 2/6 are fully scorched and it now needs a new engine. Engine stopped twice on the road similar to eco mode, but wouldn’t turn back on the same way. Nearly causing collisions. No warnings whatsoever, vehicle had regular maintenance per its light warnings. Complete failure on Hondas part to correct this.
The Car hesitates when I press on the gas to go forward, making turns, and pull off from stop signs, or traffic lights.

The contact stated that upon depressing the accelerator pedal down to the floorboard, the vehicle lurched forward while shifting into gear. There was no warning light illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle started losing motive power. The contact stated that upon depressing the accelerator pedal down to the floorboard, the vehicle lurched forward while shifting into gear. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer, where it was determined that the failure was related to the transmission. The vehicle was then taken to a transmission specialist, where a transmission flush was performed; however, the failure persisted. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) which the contact related to the failure; however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. An unknown local dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 53,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
Prior to this recall, we had noticed an acceleration issue with the car. One day, during our travels, we encountered a severe stall, which could have been a dangerous event. Just as we were grappling with this situation, news of a recall reached us, but unfortunately, the fuel pump required for the fix was unavailable. It was only when the HondaLink app suggested that the dealer could replace the fuel pump that we found a glimmer of hope. Immediately, I secured a reservation for March 15th, 2024. However, upon reaching the dealership, we were informed that the required part was not in stock. Frustrated, I lodged a complaint with Honda, outlining our predicament. Today, on April 4th, 2024, I received a response from them, stating that they would address the issue once the part became available. However, this leaves me in a precarious position. Who will be held accountable if an accident were to occur due to this fault? Neither Honda nor the dealer seems willing to shoulder responsibility. Certainly: In their response, Honda has essentially washed their hands of the matter, stating that it is up to me to pursue further action. They suggested that I could either escalate the issue with the NHTSA or explore legal avenues. Despite this, they have chosen to close my query, leaving me feeling abandoned and unsupported in this ordeal. Feeling increasingly uneasy about driving a car with a known faulty component, I am left with no choice but to consider reporting this matter to the NH

Rear tailgate will occasionally pop open while driving for no reason. Often times when parked rear tailgate latch will not open it. Takes several attempts to get it open, sometimes have to open another door to get it to work.

The van suddenly started randomly throwing up a series of 5 different codes, all relating to the forward camera system. It will appear and disappear at random, showing lane keeping assist, forward collision system, adaptive cruise control, automatic dimming headlights and lane departure system failed. There are tons of issues with the car having bad cables/terminals for the rear camera, A/V systems, and SXM antenna, but Honda refuses to admit that the front camera issue is related.
My dash displays errors dealing with the Honda sensing. I took it into the dealership and they quoted me 3k to fix it. Upon searching the internet for a solution, this seems to be a common issue with Hondas, dating as far back as 5 years. My errors are the following: -ACC issue -LKAS issue -collision mitigation system -auto high beam problem While some complaints date back to five years, it’s very clear the issue is ongoing in Honda odyssey models, as owners, including myself, are still posting to see if there is a fix. Honda’s resolution is to pay them 3k which I find appalling, since it’s very clear that their models are continuing this issue - along with the fact that it is being reported that owners are experiencing issues still.

Random extreme sudden braking (activation of the Cmbs) while driving on the freeway, without any vehicle in reasonable proximity tothe front or to either side. Creates hazardous situation resulting in collision with a car following behind or loss of control. Daytime driving, dry pavement, both sunny and cloudy. Full visibility. This has been ocurring for the last three years, frequently.
When I came to a stop at a red light, my auto engine idle engaged. When I tried to go by pressing on the gas, the engine would not turn on. The lights flickered and I had to wait a couple minutes to restart the car. This is not the first time it happened but it happened most recently on March 8, 2024. I have called Honda in two locations multiple times and they say they have no parts. When I told them I am experiencing problems they said they can try to expedite the parts but they don’t know when they will receive them. I am supposed to go in on Monday but they could not guarantee the problem would be fixed since they don’t have the parts. My safety was put at risk because I was driving and blocked traffic at a light which turned green. I had the car inspected in December for a different recall but they could not fix this open recall because they didn’t have parts. They knew I was experiencing problems with the engine not starting in December.
My Honda odyssey 2019 started with issues turning all bunch of light in the dash, the brake system light, the road departure mitigation system light, keyless remote not working properly had to press 2 times to turn on or off, battery will drain and not work properly. The keyless fob will not unlock the car, the back sliding doors would not open at all. My car left me 2 times and I had to call geico for road assistance. I took it to the closest dealer to get it checked they tought it was the battery so we had warranty on it and they replaced it. They tought the problem was fix but again all lights came back again. This happened 3 times in the nissan dealer. This past month and a half I have being dealing with my vehicle. So this weekend we decided to take it to the Honda dealer that's 1hr away from my home, with all the lights on again, scare that she would turn off on the highway. No turn light signals working, no hazard lights working either. Finally today I got an answer from the dealer they said that the cars tailgate left side factory seal, that's like a rubber its falling off little by little and it messed up the computer that's next to the back left panel of the driver side. They say that this is wear but I have heard of too many vehicles being damage on the same spot and it starts with the tailgate. They want to charge me $673.89 to replace the tailgate control unit and that if that didn't fix the problem that I had to rewired the vehicle again and that was going to be
Sudden Loss of Acceleration/Unpredictable Acceleration: Pressed accelerator to enter highway from rolling stop going around 10-20mph. ZF 9-Speed transmission hesitated, attempted to downshift & vehicle suddenly lost transmission & possibly went into neutral and/or transmission failed on highway. Dashboard indicated Emissions System Problem" & "Transmission Problem" Vehicle would not shift back into gear & vehicle was subsequently towed. Prior to this event, vehicle had occasional 0.5 - 2 second hesitations when downshifting & exhibited rare occasional metal clanking sounds when downshifting beginning around 70,000 miles. Additionally. transmission had unpredictable significantly delayed shifts that resulted in subsequent surges of power that were enough to screech the tires on acceleration.
As from the year of 2019 to 2024, I was received a lot of this vehicle safety recall, I went to the Honda service dealer to repair my vehicle but unfortunately they refused and respond repaired service on my vehicle at all times for a reasons is no parts, up to now my vehicle is still not recovered any safety recall service from Honda dealers.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, the vehicle drove over a bump in the roadway and the rear end started shaking abnormally. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that he was able to drive the vehicle however, after driving over a bump in the roadway, the rear end bounced several times. The contact stated that a friend drove the vehicle and confirmed that there was an issue with the rear end of the vehicle. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the failure as rusted rear struts on the passenger’s and driver’s side as well as one of the struts had fractured. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure however, the contact was unaware if a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while his wife was exiting a parking lot driving approximately 5 MPH, the passenger’s side rear of the vehicle unintendedly lowered approximately 8 inches. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the passenger’s side rear coil spring needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to parts being unavailable. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000.
I was patient throughout the 2 previous Odyssey recalls (which took HONDA months to remedy) but, since, according to HONDA, fuel pump recall # 23V-858 poses a clear SAFETY RISK: If the fuel pump module is inoperative, the engine may not start or can stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash or injury -- I cannot be patient again. My vehicle, which seats 8, is regularly used to transport people from [XXX] of age. If this vehicle should stall on the busy [XXX] highway, or even just fail to start on a hot Florida day, it could have serious consequences for the occupants. I have reached-out to Honda Corporate, and my local Honda Dealer (where I bought the car) but neither would even offer a guess as to how/when this unacceptable SAFETY RISK will be corrected on my vehicle. Thus far, I've had no obvious issue with the fuel pump defect; please help me resolve the issue before my lucks runs out. Many thanks in advance. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Fuel injector went bad in 2019 odyssey. Certain 2019 odyssey covered under extended warranty. My vehicle is not covered. Just have 64000 mile on it.
Engine is making rattling sounds and heavy fuel smell for the past 6 months. I gave a video of the loud knocking my car is making. It also has a 10-45 second delay when pushing the gas pedal and actually accelerating.
No remedy provided in a timely manner
Manufecture will only have the parts in the falls. How am I going to be able to work if I have a recall and this is causing an issue in my company that I work for?
Right side sliding door problem on screen I report hot springs Arkansas dealer Many time They said no issue No repair But many car the same problem and repair But they said my car expire warranty And cost me Many time on my screen pop on warning and off But they don’t responsible I you contact them and investigate
The transmission slips or doesn't engage appropriately. The van lurches forward at intersections and slips, pauses with a loud clunking noise at lower gears when driving in town. This morning, I attempted to cross a double highway...pressed the accelerator, nothing happened, then the vehicle lurched forward, stopped again, then lurched forward again all with the accelerator pressed down. I was almost hit broadside while crossing the highway. This is not the first time this has occurred. Multiple people in our household drive this vehicle and all have reported the same concern. I've asked about this every time I get routine maintenance but Honda dealership says it's working as designed and they've witnessed this issue in other customer reports. This is a significant safety risk!
Driving on highway suddenly multiple warnings ⚠️ lights on (about 10) warnings lights like check engine, transmission system, power steering system brake assist ,holding brake system, line departure assistance, hill assistance, emission system, ACC system, VAS system, blind spot assistance and lack of power hitting gas (Accelerate pedal) no response car slow down by itself becomes 20mph on 55mph highway very scary this happened four times in one month.
On January 18, 2024 I had the following recalls performed on 2019 Honda Odyssey Elite: Auto Idle Stop and the Media Oriented Systems Transport (MOST) communication coaxial cable. Immediately after the recall work was completed, I began receiving an error code "Collision Mitigation System Problem". The error code would flash after this sequence of events: After my car's engine has come to temperature and is warm. I come to a complete stop, my car goes into Idle Stop and when I release the brake to accelerate and the engine re-engages, this error flashes. And, I can continue to drive. Prior to this recall work, I had never received this error. In addition to this error code, on January 24, 2024, I was at a complete stop on a freeway offramp. When I released the brake and tried to accelerate, my car would not engage and very loud clunk, followed by the orange "Brake System" light flashed on. Eventually my car engaged and we were able to drive. The clunk was so loud my teenage children asked me if we were hit by another car. On, Friday January 25, 2024 after dropping the car off at the dealership we were told that "The diagnostics have revealed a 'defective Multipurpose Camera and AIM'. And, the cost to replace is $1793.77 plus tax.
All safety systems which I had come to rely on failed all at once. Honda claims it’s the multi function camera that just randomly went bad. This affects safe driving. Condition Is ongoing
In early December 2023, while driving, I experienced a sudden malfunction in my LKAS system, receiving a notification that it had stopped working without any prior indications. In response, I promptly pulled over, turned off the vehicle, and restarted it, hoping to clear any error messages. Unfortunately, the issue persisted. Subsequently, I took my vehicle to the Honda service center, where I was informed that the front camera was malfunctioning, triggering multiple error messages such as collision system problems, auto high beam issues, and adaptive cruise control malfunctions—all of which rendered these safety features inoperable. The service center clarified that, while it was deemed safe to drive the vehicle, the automatic braking system and front camera features were unavailable, and any necessary repairs would be at my expense. The paperwork provided indicated the discovery of DTC U3000-49, citing a multipurpose camera unit/millimeter wave radar internal electronic failure. Additionally, beyond the LKAS system issue, I have repeatedly encountered difficulties with my vehicle's acceleration. Notably, there is a struggle to accelerate from a complete stop, and a significant delay in acceleration occurs when removing my foot from the gas pedal, especially in the middle of intersections. This delay has resulted in near collisions, with other vehicles honking and, at times, coming dangerously close to colliding with my vehicle. Despite reporting this ongoing acceleration pr
On June 2023, the driver side rear sliding door of my Honda Odyssey abruptly ceased functioning. Despite the infrequent use of this door—since I typically rely on the passenger side for dropping off my three children at school and activities—it is perplexing that the underused door has encountered such a critical malfunction. Given that our family of five heavily depends on this vehicle for transportation, the inability to utilize both doors has not only caused significant inconvenience but also raised substantial safety concerns. The driver side rear sliding door is currently sealed shut and attempts to open it manually have proven futile. It appears that the latching mechanism has completely failed, as the motor makes an audible attempt to open the door, yet no actual movement occurs. This issue has persisted for over six months, prompting ongoing communications with Norm Reeves Honda in West Covina and Honda's customer service team. According to the Honda report, it is suggested that the door may have been forced open. The estimated cost for potential repairs is $1,679.19, pending a proper assessment of the specific problem once access to the affected area is granted. The technician mentioned the necessity of breaking the paneling to reach the latches for replacement. Notably, this is my second Honda Odyssey, and two other family members also own Odysseys. Honda's van doors have a documented history of malfunctions, and it is disheartening to observe the lack of attention
Lift gate is malfunctioning. The lift gate opens but not all the way. It then bounces down and up attempting to open or close itself.
Over the years of owning this vehicle, we've encountered sporadic electrical problems that have led to the car either stalling or needing a jump start. Despite these issues, inspections of the battery have revealed no obvious problems. Additionally, we've had intermittent system warning messages for features such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, and Lane Departure. These warnings have surfaced and vanished on multiple occasions. The vehicle has never been in an accident or experienced anything beyond normal operating conditions.
There has been no incident. And I hope there is not. But the forward camera that assists in the road departure mitigation, forward collision mitigation and lane keeping assist has failed. Also inoperative is the cruise control, auto dimming headlamps and the brake system light is on. I find it hard to believe that after some of the less critical recalls that have been sent out for this vehicle that they don’t address this very important safety system. The camera alone costs $800 and that doesn’t include the cost of installation and calibration. I have a family of six and we use this van extensively. But we cannot afford this repair and are forced to drive with all of these lights on in the instruments. We take extremely good care of our vehicles. It is serviced well and has been in no major accidents. Please help us get action for ourselves and others who are in danger
I have not experienced a problem YET but a problem has been identified and a safety recall has been issued. A problem resulting in serious injury or death could occur while in traffic, but Honda has decided that it will delay replacing a potentially faulty part until I either have a problem or they have taken care of vehicles that have already experienced a problem. I tried to get an appointment but was told they could not request a part for my vehicle because I have not experienced a problem. Unacceptable.
Basically, when starting from a stop - either dead stop or coasting stop, but after applying the brake, when you start gently pressing the accelerator, nothing happens for an inordinate amount of time. Likely only a second, but feels much longer when you're trying to make a left or right hand turn in front of oncoming traffic. The van may be barely rolling, because the brake isn't engaged, but you're only coasting with no response from the gas pedal. Then, after the short delay the engine feels like it is trying to catch up to where it should be based on the amount you've already depressed the pedal, and the van starts so fast the tires are peeling out.
Vehicle will "neutral out" on acceleration and make a whizzing noise. This occurs every time we drive this vehicle. It loses a great deal of power when this happens and feels like it is never going to regain speed. Finally, after 5-10 seconds it goes back it to gear but not before you almost get rear ended

The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. VIN Tool Confirms Recall Incomplete.
A faulty body seam seal allowed rain to enter the body of the vehicle and infiltrate the power tailgate control module. On my vehicle, this produced the error message "Tailgate Problem". The tailgate would fail to open, open part way and then close, or attempt to open at random. There have been reports of tailgates opening while driving as a result of this problem. My dealer replaced the tailgate module and re-sealed the body seam where water was entering. This seam is where the top and side panels of the vehicle join near the driver's side tailgate hinge. This is a manufacturing defect in the body seam seal that is allowing this to happen. The problem has been extensively documented by vehicle owners at [XXX] This unsafe driving condition should be subject to a recall to prevent anyone's tailgate from opening unexpectedly while operating the vehicle, creating a hazardous condition for occupants or for other motorists who might be affected by items falling out of the rear tailgate. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Water leaked through the roof causing the tailgate motor to fail. There are separations in the body seams above the tailgate. The vehicle has not been an accident.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
