2019 Honda Hr-V

Defect. Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2018-2021, 2023 Acura TLX, 2019-2024 RDX, 2017-2020, 2022-2026 MDX, 2017-2021, 2023, 2025 Honda Ridgeline, 2017-2022 Pilot, 2019-2021 Passport, 2018-2026 Odyssey, 2019-2022 Insight, 2019-2021 HR-V, 2018-2020 Fit, 2020-2022 CR-V Hybrid, 2017-2022 CR-V, 2017-2018, 2021 Civic Type R, 2017-2021 Civic hatchback, 2016-2020 Civic coupe, 2016-2022 Civic, 2017-2022 Accord Hybrid, and 2016-2022 Accord vehicles. The front passenger seat weight sensor may crack and short circuit, which can cause the air bags to deploy unintentionally during a crash.

Risk. Air bags that deploy unintentionally during a crash increase the risk of injury.

Remedy. Dealers will replace the seat weight sensors, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 7, 2026. Owners may contact Honda's customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are BOL, WO9, OOA, WOM, XOH, NOC, POD, BOE, UOF, POB, EOG, AOI, QO8, TOJ, DO7, and SOK. This recall expands previous NHTSA recall number 24V064. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning May 29, 2026.

The rearview camera image may not display when the engine is started with a key, due to a design error in the audio display power circuit. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."

Risk. An inoperative rearview camera display can reduce the driver's rear visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will update the display audio unit software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 8, 2024. Owners may contact Honda service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are TIQ and DIR. Vehicles previously repaired under recall 23V-046 will need to have the new remedy completed.

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2013-2023 Honda Accord, Civic Coupe, Civic Sedan, Civic Hatchback, Civic Type R, CR-V, HR-V, Ridgeline, Odyssey, Acura ILX, MDX, MDX Hybrid, RDX, RLX, TLX, 2019-2022 Honda Insight, Passport, 2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid, 2018-2019 Honda Clarity PHEV, Fit, and 2015-2020 Honda Accord Hybrid, Pilot, Acura NSX vehicles. The fuel pump inside the fuel tank may fail.

Risk. Fuel pump failure can cause an engine stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will replace the fuel pump module, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed September 6, 2024. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are KGC and KGD. This recall is an expansion of NHTSA recall numbers 21V-215 and 20V-314.

The rearview camera image may not display when the engine is started with a key, due to a design error in the audio display power circuit. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."

Risk. An inoperative rearview camera display can reduce the driver's rear visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.

Honda's number for this recall is 6DW. This recall has been superseded by NHTSA recall number 24V-384. Vehicles previously repaired under recall 23V-046 will need to have the new remedy completed under recall 24V-384.

The low-pressure fuel pump inside the fuel tank may fail.

Risk. Fuel pump failure can cause an engine stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel pump assembly, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed May 18, 2021. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Note: This recall is an expansion of recall 20V-314.

Defect. Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Acura NSX, 2019 Acura RDX, RLX and RLX Sport Hybrid, 2018-2019 Honda Accord, Civic Hatchback, Civic Type R and HR-V, 2019-2020 Insight and 2019 Fit vehicles. The low-pressure fuel pump inside the fuel tank may fail.

Risk. If the fuel pump fails, the engine can stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Honda will notify owners and dealers will replace the fuel pump assembly, free of charge. The recall began July 22, 2020. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138.

Defect. Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2017-2019 Acura MDX, 2017-2018 Acura MDX Sport Hybrid, 2018-2019 Honda HR-V and Honda Odyssey, and 2016 Honda HR-V vehicles. The rear brake caliper pistons may have an insufficient coating, causing gas pockets to form, reducing brake performance. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 135, "Light Vehicle Brake Systems."

Risk. A reduction of braking performance increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Owners will be notified, and Honda or Acura dealers will bleed the brakes, free of charge. The recall began December 11, 2018. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are C31 and L30.

Driver hit curb going 7 mph. No one was in the passenger seat. Both passenger airbags deployed.

Defective front-facing camera located above the rear view mirror, used by several car safety systems, fails intermittently causing the dashboard to emit persistent visual and audio warnings. This is a 2019 HRV-EX with approx. 60,000 miles. It happens most frequently when the car interior is hot. The cacophony is so overwhelming that it distracts from being able to safely operate the vehicle. Honda dealer from whom the car was purchased estimated over $2000 to fix the issue. This is a common issue with several Honda models and there is a class action suit filed in US District Court, Central District of CA. Honda should acknowledge there's a design defect in the camera system and offer to repair it at its own expense.

The contact owns a 2019 Honda HR-V. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the steering wheel failed to operate as needed on several occasions. The contact stated that occasionally there was an abnormal fuel odor inside the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The dealer confirmed the failure, and the alternator was replaced twice to correct the warning light issue; however, the warning lights returned 20 minutes later. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the dealer and independent mechanics were unable to determine the cause of the failure.

The contact owns a 2019 Honda HR-V. While the contact's son was driving at an undisclosed speed, the engine overheated. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where the vehicle was diagnosed with cylinder head, head gaskets, and gasket kit failures. In addition, the contact was informed that the coolant needed to be drained, and the oil level needed to be checked. The contact was informed that the head gaskets, gasket kit, and cylinder head needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The contact stated that the failure was a known failure. The contact filed a case and requested to be reimbursed for the cost of the repairs. The failure mileage was approximately 95,859.

I own a 2019 Honda HR-V, VIN [XXX]. My vehicle required replacement of the fuel pump motor associated with Honda’s fuel-pump recall. On XXX, I had the fuel pump replaced at Firestone Complete Auto Care because the recall repair had not been performed on my vehicle. The fuel pump cost $969.77, and the total repair cost was approximately $1,200 including labor. I subsequently submitted a reimbursement claim to Honda because the recall repair had already been completed at my expense. Honda denied my reimbursement claim, stating that, based on its records, my vehicle had already been repaired. This is incorrect. I did not have the recalled fuel-pump repair performed by Honda or a Honda dealer before the XXX Firestone repair. Honda has also confirmed that, based on the information available for my VIN, my vehicle is associated with a fuel-pump motor recall. I am concerned that Honda’s recall records incorrectly indicate that the recall remedy was previously performed on my vehicle when it was not. I am requesting that NHTSA review this matter and determine whether Honda’s recall records for my VIN are inaccurate and whether this may be affecting my ability to receive the recall remedy or reimbursement for a repair that I had to pay for myself. I can provide the Firestone invoice, proof of payment, Honda’s reimbursement denial, and correspondence regarding the recall upon request. The Multipurpose Camera Unit/Millimeter Wave Radar Internal Electronic system has failed (confirmed by Honda service center). When I start my car, I now get several warnings that multiple systems are out, including but not limited to the automatic emergency breaking, forward collision warning, and many other safety features. Upon searching the web, it seems this is a common issue in many Honda vehicles starting in 2018. With this feature no longer working, I have no back up safety mechanisms, which is one of the main reasons I bought this car.

The vehicle dash cluster flickers and goes completely out. When this happens you can not see the mileage or how much fuel you have. This is a known problem and even my local dealer has seen a few and Honda will not stand behind the problem. The dealership wants over two thousand dollars to replace the cluster and they charge me $80 to look at it once when it wasn’t flickering so they couldn’t make a report, but they have seen it messed up and have a claim number with Honda but they say vehicle is too old and 80,000 miles so they will not fix this safety issue.

Has faulty much/under dash fuse box

It seems like all safety systems associated with Honda's Safety Sense package failed simultaneously as I have a chain of dashboard lights indicating problems with Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Monitoring, Forward Collision Monitoring, Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control and more. These dashboard lights came on with an aural warning which was a distraction to me during my drive. These lights are illuminated everytime I start up the vehicle and are lit up throughout the duration of the vehicle being on. These lights first appeared approximately 2 weeks ago. The vehicle is available for inspection if needed.

My gas instrument panel gauge works intermittently. This gauge shows the gas level, temperature and mileage information. There were no symptoms of this problem. A lot of the time the instrument panel that shows gas level, temperature and mileage information is blank. I feel this is a safety problem. Honda does know about this problem. If I took this to a Honda dealership to be fixed it would cost $1,800-$2,000 to fix. This is something that happened when this make and model: 2019 Honda HRV Sport was assembled at the factory.

The 2019 Honda HRV with low miles of around 44,000 miles experienced a series of warning alerts on the dash board consisting of the following list of five problems: Road Departure Mitigation System Problem; Auto High-Beam Problem; Adaptive Cruise Control Problem ACC; Lane Keeping Assist Problem LKAS; and Collision Mitigation System Problem. This started with warm weather at the end of July 2026 and is continuing intermittently in August 2026 as of the date of this write up. I described this to a Honda service person verbally in person in Huntington Beach, CA and they said it was a Multipurpose Camera problem and could fix it for $1,971.23 plus tax. They indicated that the camera was improved so it wouldn't fail so easily. The vehicle has not been physically inspected by dealer service staff yet. With all these safety features potetially not functiing at times creates great safety risk (e.g., Adaptive Cruise Control is not really on when you think it is and the car could rear end another vehicle in front especially if the Collision Mitigation Sytem is also malfunctioning). Car with low miles and in great shape otherwise. No significant accidents. No cracked or replaced windshield. Have a large 113MB video if needed of dashboard problem warnings.

The Multipurpose camera has internal failure and the unit is running at 130 degrees per diagnostic tests per mechanic. It's affecting the lane keep assist, automatic high beams, road departure, mitigation, adaptive, cruise control, collision mitigation system. These safety features are not working.

My 2019 HR-V transmission is suffering from the premature CVT belt deterioration outlined in Honda's internal service bulletins TSB 21-047. My car has 99,000 miles and Honda refuses to replace the faulty transmission. The intermittent loss of acceleration poses an immediate safety hazard when merging onto highways or navigating heavy traffic.

The contact owns a 2019 Honda HR-V. The contact stated that while inspecting the vehicle for an Emissions test. The contact stated that it was determined that the vehicle had failed the inspection due to a steering box failure. The contact stated that the failure of the part occurred every two years, and the current failure was the third occurrence. The dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The transmission belt deteriorated. I had noticed my gears slightly delayed over past couple months. On July 10th, i was on freeway during morning commute traffic and the car lost all power. All the dash warning lights came on and I luckily got to side of road. I towed to dealer and they confirmed that it was premature belt deterioration. I sent a claim to honda and they agreed that was the issue but they would not honor any warranty against it. I was never informed by either Honda America, nor my dealership that there could be any issue with my transmission. Apparently, honda issued bullitin 21-047 knowing that an issue exists but unfortunately my car is 2mos over in time.

Honda sensing error codes started lighting up all of a sudden. My HRV has never been in any kind of minor or major accident. We bought it new back in 2019. It currently has 13424 miles. This error is unexplainable as we have maintained this car so thoroughly. This error is not safe for drivers as it causes confusion especially when it just suddenly pops out while driving.

The contact owns a 2019 Honda HR-V. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the fuel gauge and the mileage of the vehicle failed to display. The contact was concerned due to the failure also cause the fuel gauge to accurately display The service vehicle soon warning light remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed and the contact was advised that the dash cluster panel was faulty due to internal failure and that it needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 65,000.

My 2019 HR-V paint started peeling. Unfortunately 2019 is not one of the recall years for this problem. The white paint has started to peel and keeps getting worse and worse. I have read stories of others with my year HR-V getting the paint taken care of since it's obviously the same problem that is happening with the 2018 white HR-V's that have a recall. I am hoping Honda will also recall the 2019 to have this issue rectified. It is quite embarrasing driving around with chipping paint on the roof of my car.

While driving, a vehicle attempted to pass three cars at once. At the last minute, the person saw an oncoming car approaching and quickly came back to the other lane, cause the three cars to break hard quickly. I, the one putting down this complaint, am the only one who hit another vehicle. I hit that vehicle in its rear as everyone was breaking. The driver side airbag did not deploy from the impact. There were no other persons in my vehicle. At this time, there is no independent center to confirm that it should of deployed. The vehicle has only been inspected on the extent of the damage to it by my insurer. There were no light warnings of any kind that I can recall from the crash.

Lane keeping, adaptive cruise control, auto high beam lights, forward collision warning. It is available for inspection. This is the whole reason we went with this car was the safety features. Now none of the forward Saftey features are currently working because of the front safety camera failure. Have not returned to dealer since it is out of warranty now. No warning lamps before this problem started.
