The car has been stalling to start for the last week. On 7/15/23 I parked my vehicle, all windows were up, I turned the vehicle off, got out and locked the doors, walked away and all of my windows went down half way and the sunroof opened, it has been stalling to speed up like it does usually. 12/19/2023 American Honda Motor Co., Inc. (Honda) is recalling certain 2017-2020 model year Honda vehicles (NHTSA #23V-858). The fuel pump impeller was improperly moulded, resulting in low density impellers.

Ac compressor and evaporator leaking due to manufacturer fault
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Civic. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled after start-up. Additionally, all the windows and sunroof inadvertently opened while the vehicle was parked and shut off. The contact related the failure to a faulty electrical system; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000.
Hello, I refueled my vehicle on 07/11/2023 after a completed service request at First Texas Honda on 06/30/2023. The vehicle now smells like gas or fuel. The smell is overpowering and makes me dizzy when I drive and gives me a headache. The VIN: [XXX] has previously been associated with a recall on the fuel pump. The additional repairs that were completed included: The infotainment system: The car infotainment system has also shutoff while driving. The dealership could not re-create the issue or concern. Air conditioner: There was also an issue with the driver side of the vehicle' air conditioner. The air conditioner wasn't working. Thank you for your efforts to maintain the safety of my vehicle. Warm Regards, [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

I have noticed steering wheel stiffness/notchiness when traveling at varying road speeds. The issue is present when turning the wheel left and it takes more force than usual to return the wheel back to the normal position with audible clicks/groans heard when turning/returning the wheel to neutral. During highway driving, it takes more effort than usual to maintain the vehicle within the lane, like the car is fighting against you. I brought the car into the dealership while still in warranty and the vehicle was misdiagnosed as a sway bar coupler link issue. Having completed their repair recommendations, the issue still persisted and I brought the car back for further evaluation. The car is now out of warranty, and the dealership is stating it is an electric issue with the EPS. The way the part is engineered, the entire EPS rack must be replaced which would cost me upwards of $4200. I will be in contact with corporate Honda in regards to this, as the issue was brought to their attention while the car was under warranty, misdiagnosed, and now I am expected to pay out of pocket for the repair out of warranty. This issue has only gotten worse as time progressed and I am becoming increasingly concerned about my safety and anyone who drives my vehicle due to a manufacturer defect. Research online through the NHTSA website as well as other Honda Civic Forums show hundreds, if not thousands of other Civic owners experiencing the same issue I am and being expected to pay out of pocket
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Civic. The contact stated that her granddaughter was occupying the rear seat with the seat belt buckled, however, the seat belt failed to unbuckle and instead tightened, causing her granddaughter to have difficulty while breathing. The contact cut the seat belt and released her granddaughter. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 16,000.

The contact owns a 2019 Honda Civic. The contact stated while driving 30 MPH and exiting a highway, the steering wheel became firm without warning. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to an independent mechanic who stated that the rack and pinion needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the vehicle needed to be diagnosed at the dealer. The failure mileage was 75,000.
I'm having problems with my 2019 Honda civic.fuel pump problems and my car has only 48000 miles on it.i read the recalls on Honda civics and different sites state different things.1 site says it has a recall on the fuel system and Honda says no.
Sticky steering at 60+ mph, more frequent after car has been running for 25 minutes. If driver isn’t expecting sticky steering, over correction of problem could cause an accident, especially at high speeds. Complaints have been filed for 2020+ model years, statements of issue are the same as I am experiencing. My car has 53k miles.
When my phone rings while my radio is on and after I’m done with the call, it doesn’t go back to the radio it’s stuck in that call mode..I have to stop and turn off my engine and start it back up to clear the settings/mode.
Potential steering issues. Steering will randomly "stick", at around 60+ mph if not prepared driver could over react and thus be in an accident or cause one. The "stick" is very subtle and slight. As I am aware of it I easily corrected by bringing it back in alignment. Mechanic has performed diagnostic scan and nothing was revealed w/ the power steering. I do see that NHTSA is investigating similar issues w/ 2022 and 2023 Honda Civics. All statements are exactly as I am experiencing only my vehicle is a 2019 Honda Civic. This has been occurring for the passed couple of months. I have about 53k miles on my vehicle.
I leased the Honda Civic from a dealer in Maryland and the first advertisement for this car was this car has lane departure warning and adaptive cruise etc. I report some incidents of inefficacy these systems in my car while it showed alarm and Honda maintenance team assured me that it works perfectly. i was driving on Fwy I-40 West in New Mexico. After wind blow my whole front shield became foggy and the system did not show any alarm that it is not working. I ended up deviated from the road and my car was totaled. I called Honda customer service they assigned an investigation ticket but after several follow up nothing happened. CA Attorney General office referred me to you.
The steering sticks and it’s not smooth at speeds ranging from 35 to 75 mph. It tends to become worse as the car gets warmed up. The steering wheel stick so bad that if you remove your hands from the steering wheel, it will stay in the turn, until you physically turn the wheel the opposite way. it is a very dangerous condition. This has been brought to the attention of our local Honda dealer many times. They continually say they cannot find anything wrong with the car.
Driving down interstate on 1/19/23 and car lost power. I had to move two lanes to the shoulder without getting hit by other drivers. Had car towed to local dealer and they said it was out of gas. The gas gauge said there was 44 miles to empty. On 2/16/23 I was driving to gas station and as soon as it said 44 miles to empty, the car stalled again. Unsure if fuel pump or fuel sensor issue. When I took it to the dealership the first time all they did was add 5 gallons of gas. Didn’t check fuel pump. No charge. I did pay $275 to have car towed to dealership. The second time I added 5 gallons of gas and then went to gas station and filled up.
The steering sticks in a spot while driving. You have to really pull on steering wheel which causes it to oversteer and is very dangerous especially in curves. This happens everytime the car is driven. Can be available to be inspected anytime.
Steering wheel sticks during minor corrections to keep on center when going straight on highway causing over correction. Problem starts after car has been running about 20-30 mins.
On 01/15/2023 my son was driving on a highway in our 2019 Honda Civic LX when he heard a scary grinding sound under the car. He was forced to stop on the side of the highway only to discover that the splash shield at the bottom of the car was almost disconnected from the car itself. Upon closer inspection at home, we discovered that splash shield is only held in place by 3 fasteners instead of 8 that is needed. Quick internet search shows numerous cases when the splash shield is not installed correctly after the oil change causing it to disconnect eventually. The oil change on the was performed on 08/01/2022 at HONDA CITY dealership. No one touched the bottom of the car afterwards. We contacted the dealership and on 01/16 I had a conversation with a manager who advised to visit it. On 01/17 my son went there and was told that it disconnected for unknown reasons and dealership is not responsible. The dealership manager stated, engine splash cover disconnected by “natural causes”. An unexpected loud grinding noise while driving on a highway almost caused an accident (he almost lost control of the car). If it is a design issue (as stated there are numerous cases of engine splash guard disconnecting documented online) I believe Honda must issue a recall to replace it / address the issue.
I purchased this car from Fox Honda a few weeks after it was sold to the car dealership. When I picked up the car and drove home, I noticed noises from the car. I took my car to a body shop nearby to check. The mechanic said one of the tires wasn’t sealed. I continued to hear weird noises coming from the front of my car. A month later, the low-tire-pressure sign appeared. I called the salesperson again, and he said the car was fine due to weather. I was worried, so I took the car to Honda City in Liverpool, NY to get inspected. They got rid of the low-tire-pressure sign. The service of Fox Honda was inadequate as it didn’t make sure the car I bought was inspected throughout before selling it. Everyone convinced me that there was no problem with the car until my car corrupted on January 4, 2021. My son was driving the car home from school. When he made the left turn, he said the car seemed out of balance and then it hit the sidewalk. The speed in the area was about 35mph, and the car was driven slower than the speed because it made a left turn at the intersection. The wheel and front axle on the passenger side fell off from the vehicle. He was scared, so he called 911. Police came, and people on the road all thought it was the strangest thing that ever happened to a car. My husband and I were glad that my son was ok, but a car’s wheel and its axes can’t just fall off like that. My son could end up in the hospital if he drove on the highway. Honda C said my case couldn’t move f
Once the car gets above 50MPH the steering feels sticky or notchy, like the wheels are stuck in a rut, and it stays that way at any speed until shut off. It's impossible to keep the car centered in the lane as the slightest turn of the wheel in either direction is too much, and so you turn the wheel in the other direction to compensate and then that's too much. The car feels entirely unsafe, especially on the highway. It was especially nerve racking with a semi in the next lane. There were no warning lights or codes. The car was taken to the local Honda dealership and the technician confirmed the steering problem, searched the tech line forums and found multiple cases with similar complaints. Replacement of the steering rack was recommended.
All the car has problems all dash warning coming up from nowhere it’s no safety the other day I was driving 55 mph power steering lock brake failure very un safety and if you Google the problem I’m not the only customer with this issue it’s a loooot of people having this issues
AC condenser have hole on it. Causing the AC gas to leak.
Gas pedal broke off in a 20 mph collision- air bags exploded
My trunk opens on it’s own while riding down the road! Every day several times a day I have to pull over and close my trunk because it opens on its own! It’s very dangerous as I have had things fly out of my truck bc of this! I just bought the car in October 2022! There are a lot of other complaints online when I looked up why does my trunk keep opening on my 2019 civic! From my understanding it is the 2019-2020 Honda civics! IT HAPPENS EVERY DAY!
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the fuel pump was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000.
It showing multiple warning lights on the dashboard but everything was fine
The car was stationary and all of a sudden there was a message pop up "FUEL GAUGE SYSTEM PROBLEM" and the fuel gauge went from 3/4 full to E with the fuel icon flashing, then after almost a minute the message went away and the fuel gauge went back to 3/4 full.
Faulty software in Body Control Module (BCM) causing numerous problems with multiple vehicle components including battery, namely: electrical (key fob and headlights) malfunctions, illumination of several warning dash display lights, repeated parasitic battery draining, and security system problems (car alarm activation). Please see attached letter to manufacturer American Honda Motor Co. for additional information.
I was pulling into a gas station when errors started scrolling on the dash, pretty much all of the driver assist options were failing then the power steering error came up and it was almost impossible for me to turn the wheel, luckily I was going slow. Had it towed to a service station and they could not even find out what the codes that were reported meant. So I had it towed to the Honda dealership, they expected rodent damage but found none and neither did the service station. Honda then said it was the battery, but the car started great without even a second of hesitation so I was not sure how it could be the battery. They replaced the battery and said it was fixed $385.00 later. Less than 24hrs later, only about 2 hours of drive time, same issue except this time I was driving on a main road at 50MPH.. I barely managed to slow down and pull over before the steering went out again. I am not confident that the dealership is even going to be able to fix the issue since they thought changing the battery was going to fix it! They are just guessing and to lose the ability to steer my car while driving is a severe safety hazard. I guess I will have to replace the car, only 3 yrs old but OOW, as I will not feel confident it will be safe to drive in the future even if the dealership says they fixed it again. It obviously was not fixed this time!
Blackstone Lab reports fuel in my oil (acceptable for city driving} however all my driving is highway driving. Car has 22,500 miles, that oil had 4,000 miles on it and had 1.3% fuel ALL highway! Back and forth between Columbus, Ohio and Wyandotte, Michigan. Emergency Breaking will alert and apply break with nothing is in the way, and will NOT assist when something is right in front of car.
My pearl gray paint is completely chipping and flaking off on the mirrors and all 4 foot handles.
This year, the paint on both side view mirrors and door handles started chipping away. The vehicle is a 2019, so it is less than 4 years old. There is no reason that the paint in those specific areas should be chipping away already except for a factory defect.
Many owners of the same car are experiencing water entering from the hood scoop and dripping onto the 4th cylinder causing the coils and spark plug to rust and will throw a check engine light. Honda knows about it and won’t fix it. Clearly there’s a default on how the car was design and Honda should have a fix to correct this issues.
The paint on my 2019 Civic Coupe began to completely flake off inside the fuel door jam. The primer is completely exposed. There was no scratching or dent or any kind of impact that could have brought on the paint damage since the area is tucked away. I brought my car to the dealership today and they took pictures to document the occurrence and are escalating my concerns. Hopefully this will be covered under Honda's extended paint warranty (which I've read only affects certain models and years).
The contact's daughter owns a 2019 Honda Civic. The contact stated while his daughter was driving 45 mph, the vehicle began to stall. The contact stated he was unaware if any warning lights were illuminated. The driver attempted to park on the side of the street but the vehicle seized. The contact stated the vehicle was parked for 15 minutes before the driver restarted the vehicle and continued driving to her destination. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer was not contacted. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V215000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 20,410.
I turned on my vehicle and randomly had multiple warning lights come on including power steering, ACC, VSA, Hill start assist, LKAS, ABS. The power steering completely went out completely randomly but the power steering fluid is full. Two weeks ago I had my fuel pump recalled and now I have these issues. Valley Hi Honda in Victorville CA has not returned my calls and has been absolutely no help. If I had been driving there would be a good chance I would have crashed as I would have been unable to navigate a turn.
My camera that is supposed to assist in turning and seeing my blind spot is always malfunctioning in my new 2019 civic. Honda says they can’t do anything about that. I’ve already had to put new tires on my car - which I suspect didn’t have new tires on it when I purchased my new car. Replace the battery, and my electronic features (radio screen and windows) like to stop working and go black - including my side camera that’s meant to assist in lane changes. Additionally, my car melted in the sun. This has been a known issue with Honda since 2011 and they haven’t addressed that issue or gave any warnings. My tires, and camera for blind spots is a safety issue and the fact that my car is unreliable and melting(!) is troublesome and a safety problem.
I took my 2019 Honda Civic into the dealership because I got a warning signal that says, collision mitigation system problem. The dealership says it needs a part that is back ordered and told me I could drive vehicle until part comes in. It has been several weeks. I am not comfortable driving my vehicle with this warning light on plus whatever they did since I assume this is a vital safety component/system. Also0, I have no cruise which makes long trips uncomfortable.
The emergency braking system auto brakes when to close etc mines done it multiple times with car ahead of me by 2/3 car lengths and even while switching lanes it’s auto brakes for no reason
The contact owned a 2019 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while her son was using the vehicle's cruise control at approximately 65 mph, he attempted to activate the brakes however they failed to stop the vehicle. The driver attempted to use the emergency braking system within the vehicle however that too failed to stop the vehicle. As a result, he rear-ended a truck in front. The air bags did deploy. A police report was filed. The driver received injuries to both legs, shoulders, arms, head and neck that required medical attention. There was damage to the truck rear-ended. The vehicle was towed and deemed totaled. The dealer was not made aware of the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened a case regarding the matter. The approximate failure mileage was 29,000
There have been 3 times that this has happened. The first time I was driving and no car was in front of me. There was a car parked off to the side and my car sensored the car off to the side and the emergency braking system came on. My car slammed on the brakes automatically and I was going 45 mph and the seat belts locked up, while my car dived forward. I had to slam on the gas to avoid someone rear ending me behind me on a busy road. The other two times this happened occurred within 2 days of each other. The first was in broad daylight and my car sensored a shadow on the road, setting off the emergency braking system, making my car automatically brake and locking up the seat belts again. I was going 65 mph on this road as it was an interstate. I had to also slam on the gas to avoid an accident. The third time was 2 days later driving at night with no one around me, and I was on an exit 3 minutes away from my apartment. I’m not sure what set off the emergency braking system this time, as I didn’t see a shadow since it was dark out, but once again, it came on, locking up the seat belts. This time I was going 35 mph. I’m lucky each time I was able to get out of it and avoided an accident but I am truly scared to drive my car as this happens out of the blue when the cruise is not on or whether the cruise control is on.
The rack and pinion was failing. It caused problems with the steering causing unsafe driving conditions. I took the car to Honda and they said the rack and pinion was bad. I did contact Honda headquarters and they claimed there was nothing they could do about it since the car was out of warranty. I had this part replaced by an independent auto mechanic. They said the auto part store said they have been receiving orders for the rack and pinion at a rate of 5 per month. Considering how many parts store there are, this seem to be an unusual amount of a part failing. I have seen many complaints online about this part failing on Honda cars. This part should not fail especially at low milage. My car does have 65,000 miles on it, but the conditions started about 30,000 miles ago. I was unaware of what was happening back at the beginning, I knew something was wrong, but I didn't realize what, and it just got worse as time went on.
When selecting Reverse, the rearview camera usually displays quickly, but sometimes takes several seconds to display, or doesn't display at all (the screen remains black). This detracts from my ability to reverse safely. The radio / vehicle information display usually responds quickly to a button press, but sometimes can take several seconds to respond. Since I don't anticipate the delay, I tend to continue watching the screen while I'm waiting for it to react, instead of paying attention to the road. Especially while driving at highway speeds, these intermittent, variable delays can take my attention away from the road for a dangerous amount of time before I realize I'm not watching the road as I should be. Since the rearview camera uses the radio display, I think these issues may be related. This has been going on since the car was new.
2019 HONDA CIVIC. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO KEYLESS CVT TRANSMISSION. THE CONSUMER STATED IT WAS POSSIBLE FOR THE VEHICLE TO BE POWERED OFF WHILE IN REVERSE. THIS COULD CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO ROLL AWAY. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED BUT, DID NOT OFFER A SOLUTION.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Civic Sedan. The contact stated the AC unit was blowing hot air through the vents. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the AC compressor to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired but was pending repairs. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 43,000.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Civic. The contact stated that the Forward Collision Avoidance System would inadvertently activate intermittently without a vehicle nearby. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 10,000.
The starter was having trouble igniting the engine upon startup. The engine would crank but would not finish with starting up. I did this three or four times. Upon removing the key from the ignition and putting it back in the ignition and starting it up the car started up normally. The issue seems to be with either the ignition system or fuel system, which is available for inspection upon request. The car could suddenly stop without warning on the road and endanger the safety of myself or other drivers. The problem was previously acknowledged by NHTSA in two separate campaign numbers in May 2020 (20V314000) and March 2021 (21V215000) and this particular Civic was serviced in 2021in accordance with that recall and confirmed by the dealer. There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure.
1.The Automatic Breaking System malfunctioned, and is available for inspection upon request. 2. Safety was at risk because in March 2020, the car stopped itself on North Carolina route 70 in the middle of traffic without warning and without cause/reason. 3. Dealership inspected the system on April 1st, 2021 and found no issue. They told me to manually turn off the system every time I start the car. 4. No, the car was not inspected for the ABS by the manufacturer, police, insurance, or anyone else. 5.No warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms were on. Finding this article has prompted me to pursue the problem again. https://myfox8.com/news/money-matters/over-1-7m-hondas-investigated-for-unexpected-automatic-braking/?utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=socialflow&utm_source=facebook.com&fbclid=IwAR3h1YQ5WtFCpKL7VaZ4jB2gP4TmhAukrSG72UX_7pLXQF7XN4bMQIWITDc
The vehicle's automatic braking function activates for no reason. Should only function if it detects objects in it's path which driver not reacting to. It has happened multiple times at both freeway speed as well as city speed. Mostly happens quick, applying slight brake with "brake" light illuminating on dash then quits. Scared it will apply full braking at some point. I know you are claiming occurs on Accords and CR-V but mine being a Civic it is happening to me also. Please address this and require Honda to fix this FAST!

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
