Jerking/sticky steering issue. I have heard many other drivers discuss the same with 2016-2023 Civics. Essentially anytime when I am driving, my car may jerk any direction and I have to re-adjust. This makes driving EXTREMELY dangerous. I have noticed similarly to other drivers that whenever my steering jerks in one direction when I turn it back, it makes a knocking noise (like knocking on wood). Very concerned about this issue as I don’t have any money to fix it.

The contact owns a 2019 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while driving at undisclosed speeds, the steering wheel seized while turning. There was an abnormal creaking sound coming tfrom he steering and the steering wheel was loose. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was like the failure listed in NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V744000 (Steering). The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the electric steering rack needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 57,219.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 35 MPH, the steering wheel became difficult to turn. The contact stated that whenever the steering wheel was turned to the left or right there was a clicking sound coming from the steering wheel. The vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic who stated that the steering wheel was sticking and referred the contact to the dealer. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the steering rack had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not under recall. The failure mileage was approximately 71,900.
The steering rack has failed due to a manufacturing defect. This is also an issue with the newer civics as Honda has admitted. This problem was confirmed by an independent service center. It can be dangerous at higher speeds, the steering wheel is difficult to turn and I have to jerk it to regain control of the vehicle. Going around bends is also difficult to maintain control since it is very difficult to make precise movements of the steering. No warning lamps or messages at the time of failure.
On [XXX], I purchased a 2019 Honda Civic Si (VIN: [XXX] ) from Zeigler Toyota of Racine (WI). At the time of sale, the dealership concealed critical safety-related information, including three major prior damage events (roof, front, rear), multiple Illinois auction sales, and pre-installed aftermarket suspension modifications that prevented proper rear alignment. No disclosures were made. After purchase, I was referred to Zeigler Honda of Racine, where a certified Honda technician confirmed the vehicle could not be aligned due to these undisclosed modifications, and would soon become unsafe to drive. Improper rear alignment creates risks of unpredictable handling, tire failure, and catastrophic loss of control. Zeigler Honda attempted to discreetly order parts without warranty company knowledge and failed to document inspection results or service records, indicating concealment efforts. Zeigler Auto Group operates 84 franchises across 41 locations in Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan, and reports annual sales exceeding $2.2 billion. Given their size and multi-state operations, systemic concealment of structural and mechanical safety defects by affiliated dealerships poses a significant public safety threat across state lines. I have submitted complaints to the Wisconsin Department of Justice, DATCP, WisDOT, FTC, BBB, Honda Corporate, and the Illinois Attorney General. Given the severity of the defects, concealment, and Zeigler’s multi-state reach, I respectfully requ
Steering wheel is “ sticky “ at highway speeds and causes over correction. Honda is aware of the issue with other year models ( and has issued recalls ). Dealer has diagnosed and quoted $6,000 to repair. This is ridiculous, to rob customers on the repair of an obvious issue. Recall is needed for all models with this same steering system. Serious safety issue !
Steering wheel sticks while driving. there is a recall for this on later model cars but not on my year. Dealership wants almost $5,000 to fix this. it is absolutely a danger to drive.
Steering wheel is sticky when driving at highway speeds, requiring extra force to turn the wheel to the left, resulting in abrupt left turn motions causing inadvertent deviations into the lane to my left. This has been happening consistently for the last 4 months. There are no warning messages.
The steering wheel will "stick" when in the left hand position at speeds of 50mph or greater, requiring greater force to center. This has not been reproduced by the dealer.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Civic. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
Signs of head gasket failure at approximately 67,000 miles
It’s a sticky feelings when turning the wheel and a clicking noise.
I can’t recall the exact mileage or the date, but I started having this issues but I’d say around 40-45K miles I started having what I’ve heard been called “sticky steering” when driving down the road the steering wheel almost gets a stuck feeling and I have to try and correct it back center, it mostly will try to pull towards the left side and I have to pull it back to the center. It does seem like it is stuck sometimes but I am able to correct it. It does this when I am driving at higher speeds probably anything above 45 mph. It can be scary driving long distances because I’m always having to use both hands on the wheel to try and control the wheel. I’ve also heard that it makes a “popping” sound when Turing the wheel all the way to one side mostly when backing up. I have reached out to a dealership before and they said they had no idea what I was talking about. I did not feel comfortable taking it to the dealership to spend all this money on something they did not know about. I’ve seen where there actually is a recall for this exact issue I’m having but it’s only for 22-23 models. I’m asking that this becomes one for the 19 or any other civic because this seems to be a serious issue. I fear that one day it will get bad enough to where I am not able to control my wheel and get into a crash. It has gotten worse as the miles go on.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost power steering functionality and the steering wheel became significantly difficult to turn. No warning light was illuminated. An unknown local dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.
AC evaporator is leaking on my 2019 honda civic. Honda corporation refuses to cover the 2k repair cost eventho they extended the warranty on the AC condenser and AC compressor to 10years due to faulty parts causing premature failure. Those faulty parts caused my AC evaporator to leaking I believe Honda corporation is conducting unfair business practices by making their customers flip the bill for that shady business practices.
Unknown. Steering seems to stick when making small adjustments while driving straight causing the car to slightly jerk and oversteer the wanted adjustment. This causes me to constantly have to steering and adjust the steering while driving in a straight line. This seems to be a known issue with the steering rack not lubricating properly based on internet forums.
Steering is sticky and jerky when driving, causing driver to overcorrect left or right when making slight adjustments to center. Especially noticeable with highway driving. First noticed in 2024 and problem continues. Dealer said Honda is aware but no official recall issued as of yet.
I purchased this car seat from Amazon and was sent a notification that the car seat has a recall and to no longer use
This vehicle is impacted by the “sticky steering” issues that led to the recall of 2022-25 Model Year Honda Civics. This gearbox issue is NOT restricted to just those model years.
The damage was to my rear windshield on my 2019 Honda Civic LX. The incident happened on March 19th 2025 at 5:30 PM while at a stop light. I heard a big bang or pop and initially thought that a big rock had been thrown at my car and assumed it smashed into the body. I immediately got out of my car and inspected the body quickly on my side only, fearing the light would turn green soon and I would need to resume my drive. I saw no damage. The left turn light became green and I proceeded to turn left. As I checked my rear view mirror, I noticed that my rear windshield was shattered, being held in place by the tint film. I was confused and did not know what happened. When I arrived at my destination, I inspected the glass and found no signs of an object striking the glass and causing damage. I went to the internet and looked for any incidents similar to what I experienced. I found that other Hondas have "Popped" and "Shattered" rear windshields in the past. The temperature on the date of the incident was a mild 72 degrees and sunny. The last time I used my rear defroster was a week ago. I did not use my AC/Heater on the date of the incident. I plan to see my Honda dealership and make arrangements with Honda or Safelite to get the damage repaired.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while her husband was driving approximately 30 MPH, the vehicle started losing motive power and then stalled. The contact stated that her husband had observed several unknown warning lights illuminated on the instrument cluster. The contact stated that her husband had the vehicle towed to a local dealer. The vehicle was diagnosed, and it was determined that the High-Pressure Fuel Pump had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V763000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 170,000.
Received a recall letter that the part was finally available for repair back in October 2024 and every time I contact my local Honda dealer, they generally give me the answer to call back next month to schedule when it’s in their physical stock. Called today, now March and the Service rep said they’ll call me when the part becomes available. It’s been well over 60 days and haven’t been able to drive my car distance for safety concerns since most travel is on the NJ parkway.
Steering sticks in certain position to the left and has to be forcefully reentered (there's also a clunking noise that the steering makes when this problem occurs). Problem began about a year ago and I have taken vehicle in to be repaired multiple times. I believed it was a tire issue at first, however, after a few weeks ago I was assured that the tires was not the problem. This feature is incredibly dangerous as when wheel is forcefully recentered sometimes you haev to overadjust and you might almost hit someone near you. Extremely dangerous and I hope you guys take this issue seriously. I have visited many other threads and I see that in the state of florida alone theres about 10 other people who have the SAME EXACT issue.
See attached document for complaint.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Civic. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel failed to turn in the intended direction. The contact stated that while turning the steering wheel to the left or the right, the steering wheel required excessive force to turn. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and was diagnosed with rack and pinion failure. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer where the rack and pinion failure was confirmed. The contact was informed that the rack and pinon needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was informed of an unknown recall however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 56,064.
While driving highway speeds the vehicles steering becomes sticky or gets momentarily hard to move. Have to use force to correct while moving lanes and or going around a bend.
Sometimes whenI go to brake the brake pedal goes all the way up and I can’t press it down to stop the vehicle. This only lasts a few seconds then the brakes return to normal. I believe this may be due to a previous recall. “A common brake issue reported with the 2019 Honda Civic is a potential problem with the brake system due to a faulty tie rod fastener connecting the brake master cylinder and brake booster, which could result in improper braking and is currently subject to a recall by Honda” Not sure why my vehicle is showing 0 recalls under the VIN.

The contact also stated that while steering to the right or the left, the steering wheel felt loosened. The contact stated that the steering then became difficult to turn. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 109,000.
The fuel injector on my 2019 honda civic si went bad at 58,000 miles, which is over a $2,000 repair. Not only is this a widespread problem with Honda,..they KNOW about the fuel injectors being faulty and have discontinued the part, instead they have chosen another supplier to manufacturer the injectors without issuing a recall. This is blatantly a known defected part and Honda should immediately compensate/replace affected models. There is also a potential class action lawsuit related to this, by Migliaccio and Rathod, LLP My email is [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
While driving, my car slows down and just stops. I’ve been lucky to pull over and get out of ongoing traffic but then it won’t turn on to the point where I’ve had to get it towed. This has happened 3 times already. It’s a safety hazard.
Issue with sticky steering. Car is unsafe to drive. Steering sticks as you are driving making it hard to turn. A issue Honda has with many of there civics but will do nothing about tell someone is serious injured. I called honda and told them about problem. but the will do nothing. The car has been inspected by certified Honda dealer. They told me steering gearbox is bad. He also stated is a documented problem they no about. No waring lights ever came on. Please help with this problem. 2019 honda civic. Thank you
So when I’m driving some would call it sticky steering where I have to correct the steering constantly this happens at slow speeds and way more noticeable and scary at fast speeds like I don’t even want to take it on freeway I have gotten a couple alignments done like 6 to many they say it’s spot on so why does my steering still have an issue.i don’t even have to move the wheel I can slightly move it left or right and it’s swinging that way bumps and bad roads are also the same i basically can’t drive straight and I don’t know why it’s never had the issue before I say till bout 70 or 80 k miles I’ve took it to Honda and they said there’s no way to fix it unless the whole camber or rack was replaced probably both I have kids and have to commute on a busy road I’ve almost hit people because the car can’t stay straight also when pressing on the breaks it will steer in either direction and have to fix that as well
I took my car in this morning for a recall. For the fuel pump. It took the dealership very little time to get my car out which was strange for me because originally they told me it would take 4-5 hours. Following the recall I needed gas since I was told to have a little under half a tank. I was on empty following the procedure. While I was pumping gas I had my hand help on the pump. There was not automatic pump enabled. My car keep taking the gas which was weird and then suddenly I saw gas leaking from my fuel point. I stopped the pump instantly. I soon called Honda but there was no pick up for a long time so I began driving a 3 mile trip from my gas station to the dealer. I started with 365 miles of gas remaining. Once I got to the dealer I had 355 miles remaining. Never in the years I have had that car have I seen my car consume so much gas especially on such little trip. Arrived at Honda. They are very nonchalant about the issue and I do not want them to rush the fix and create more damage and a bigger issue

Okay guys this is a HUGE problem with not only the civic si but any motor car equipped with a 1.5t engine (accord, Honda, crv) . My car is bone stock and I’m casually accelerating onto highway followed by abrupt misfireing( I believe and completely out of nowhere) and all of a sudden my engine completely explodes! Literally engine parts on the highway and my car has next to now power and I barely was able to pull over to the side without completely smoking out the highway!! My car is bone stock never modified so we get it towed to mechanic and he says headgasket failed, which in turned destroyed the engine?! I do a little research and see 100s of videos of blown up 1.5t Honda cars with blown head gaskets! It’s obviously a huge problem but I guess Honda doesn’t care right? Please please if you don’t think this is gonna happen again to someone you gotta be ignorant ask Honda techs if they’re noticing blown headgaskets they’ll tell you they do sometimes 4-5 headgaskets a week on the Honda 1.5turbo engine. Or YouTube I’m not joking and this is a huge problem!

When driving on local streets under 40mph steering sticks in position and has to be forcefully recentered. It also makes a clunking sound when turning the steering wheel at low speeds. At highway speeds when making slight adjustments steering wheel sticks, causing me to overcorrect which in turn jerks the car back and forth. This issue starts after driving the car for about 10-15mins. I have tried numerous DIY solutions such as turning off Lane Assist etc. I will be taking the car to Honda soon. This has been going on for about a year now.
The steering is "sticky" leading to ever-changing steering effort. At times, so much force has to be applied that overcorrection occurs. It decreases the safety margin when driving and applying corrective steering to prevent lane departure or collision. Luckily, I have not had any accidents occur yet. Still, I can easily imagine that it contributes to a collision if and when the margin for an accident is sufficiently narrowed. There are no warning lights or messages provided by the car for this issue. When I asked Honda about the issue, they said I would have to pay a fee to even have the vehicle looked at. They also stated that it would cost over $3000 to fix it. They said that they could not replace it for free because it was not under warranty and there was no recall for the issue, just a TSB. I am surprised that this is still not a recall given how apparent a safety risk it is. Frequently I have to jerk the wheel for it to break free and respond to steering input. Unfortunately, Honda is not being more proactive about replacing this component. Please let me know what else I can do to help progress this to a recall. Thank you
On my way to work my car stalled while being driven. I lost the ability to maintain my speed and my car decelerated to a stop in the lane of traffic. The car would not move forward and would not start after it was turned off. I was stopped in the right lane of traffic on a four lane highway during morning rush-hour traffic. A police officer had to remain behind my car in the lane of traffic with their lights on until a tow truck arrived to prevent an accident. My car could not be moved due to the high rate of speed of the cars traveling around it and cars had to merge quickly into the open lane. There were several near accidents while waiting for the tow truck. There were no warning signs or messages that the car had an issue. The mechanic the car was towed to believes the problem is with the fuel gauge and stated they had recently repaired several cars with this issue that were the same or similar base model and year as my car. When inspected the car was found to be out of fuel and, after fuel was added to the car, the cars computer system showed a higher amount of fuel then was put into the car. At the time of the incident, the car showed three or four bars of fuel left on the dashboard fuel display and about 40 miles until empty on the digital display range. The police officer at the scene observed the that the car was showing that it was not out of fuel. The component or system is available for inspection upon request. This issue is similar to a previously repaired recall
FUEL PUMP INOPERABLE CAUSING MY CAR TO START AND STALL WHILE DRIVING. NEED THIS REPLACED ASAP!
Some how my steering wheel is crooked, so while going straight, my wheel is around 2 or 3 inches to the left. If I turn it all the way, in either direction the wheel will click, click, click back, moving back the opposite direction with every click. I've changed both front CV axles, sway bar links, brakes, all 4 tires, bought 2 rims so far. Still having issues. Also makes a cluck sound while braking. stalls while stopping and going a lot. Had fuel recalls done already. When a car is coming have to hit the gas pedal to the floor to get it to go. Almost killed me once while automatically braking while switching lanes. There was an 18 Wheeler in front of me to start off with, I turned my signal on to get over in the lane beside of me, which had another 18 wheeler coming a way back. Once I got over the brakes automatically locked down due to sensing the the truck in the other lane. Every since then I keep that feature off. I wouldn't trade her for anything, it's been a wild ride and she keeps me on my toes. Literally. 120,000, 1 owner, 6 years March 2025!
I was driving straight going 35mph on a 2 lane rd when my steering wheel starting making a weird noise & almost was shaking. The steering wheel then locked up to the left & wouldn’t move. This caused my driver side tire to go into the curb, & at this point my steering wheel was spinning in circles & all I could do was brake. After bumping off the curb I then was thrusted back over to the right lane (due to having no steering control) where I came to a stop grazing another vehicle. My insurance performed diagnostics on the vehicle & determined the steering rack housing assembly part failed, causing the accident. There was no damage at all to the vehicle that would indicate this part was damaged as result of the incident, therefore they are calling it “pre existing damage” even though Honda did a multipoint inspection on my car 08/03/2024 (not even a whole 3 months prior) that did not mention a single steering problem. It was ultimately determined this failure is what caused the incident. Upon further research I have found millions of Civics are recalled for this issue but not my year of the vehicle. However, I have found countless stories exactly like mine with steering failure all regarding the 2019 Honda Civic. I am now without a vehicle, insurance refused to pay for the failed part, and I have reached out to Honda over 10 times trying to get in contact with someone about this to no avail. I truly was terrified for my life and feel this needs to be addressed because as previ

Car has delayed cranking time. Recently got a new car battery but car has weak, struggling and delayed start up. Video proof has been sent to dealership since issue could not be reproduced while car was there for 4+ hours recently. Recall on fuel pump in the past. Other vehicle models are on current recall list but mine is not. I fear that my car will stall while driving or I will become stranded on the road due to this issue.

I received a recall notice about the fuel pump in February 2024. I have been calling Ed Morse Honda to schedule the replacement and they haven't had the parts. I just received a notice from Honda that states the following: "This notice is being sent to inform you that these parts are now available and you can bring your vehicle in for a free repair." I called Ed Morse Honda again today, Nov. 14th and they informed me that they don't have the parts and do not know when they will get them. This is a serious fuel pump issue according to the Honda recall notice that said "can result is serious injury or death.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
