2022 GMC Acadia

Defect. General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2022 Cadillac XT5, XT6, and GMC Acadia All-Wheel Drive (AWD) vehicles. The fuel tank rollover valve may not provide a proper seal in the event of a rollover crash.

Risk. A fuel tank rollover valve that does not properly seal can result in a fuel leak during a rollover crash, increasing the risk of a fire.

Remedy. Dealers will inspect the fuel tank and replace the fuel tank shell if the rollover valve is found to be dislodged or missing, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 27, 2022. Owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006 and GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N222366070.

Defect. General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2022 Cadillac XT5, XT6, and GMC Acadia vehicles. The left-rear suspension toe link may have been tightened improperly, which could result in a loose or separated toe link.

Risk. A loose toe link can separate and cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will inspect the left-rear suspension and replace the fastener if it is loose or missing, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 11, 2022. Owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N222364330.

Defect. General Motors, LLC. (GM) is recalling certain 2022 GMC Acadia vehicles. The sensing diagnostic module (SDM) may have been left in "manufacturing mode" and not activated at the assembly plant prior to shipment. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."

Risk. The air bags will not deploy with an unactivated SDM, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.

Remedy. The vehicles will be returned to the assembly plant for SDM activation. Both affected vehicles are still in dealer inventory and therefore no owner notification letters will be mailed. Owners may contact GMC 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N212344261.

Received message dash stating "Steering Assist is Reduced, Drive with Care". The AC turned off and temp gauge went to "C". Noticeable difficulty steering at both highway speeds and on city streets. While driving to auto shop the message disappeared, AC turned on and temp went back to normal. About and hour later while diving on the interstate it happened again and steering was difficult again. This first occurred on August 24, then again on September 12 and October 21 and again on October 25. No consistency as for time of day or outside temp. Lasts for a few hours then goes back to normal but when it happens randomly it does pose a safety issue with difficulty steering and no lane assist.

2022 Acadia a bulletin you posted for defective thermostat. My wife’s car shows exact symptoms but dealership says it’s not included in recall posted by you. Only mentioned car has gremlins? Can you look into expanding your recall since the exact symptoms are as described. By the way I also house a Gm Sierra with a 6.2 and that nightmare continues

The contact owns a 2022 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that while driving at 75 MPH, the vehicle struck a deer head-on. The contact stated that none of the air bags deployed during the crash. The contact stated that the driver's seat belt became inoperable. The contact stated that the plastic covering detached, the seat belt fell apart and slipped, and the seat belt failed to retract. The contact sought medical attention at a local emergency room one day after the crash for back and neck injuries. A Police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a service center for repair. The vehicle was not diagnosed for the air bag or seat belt failures. The approximate failure mileage was 35,000.

What failed & is it available? The infotainment/radio module failed entirely due to an OTA software update (Codes: U18B4, U0184, B1325). The vehicle and component are fully available for inspection upon request. How was safety at risk? The federally mandated backup camera is now too faint/dim to read, destroying rearview visibility. Bluetooth/hands-free phone pairing is completely disabled, increasing driver distraction risks and preventing compliance with hands-free driving laws. Is it confirmed by a dealer? Yes. A local GMC dealership inspected the vehicle and confirmed the module is bricked, quoting $2,286.00 for a hardware replacement. Inspected by manufacturer/others? It has been inspected and confirmed by the local GMC dealer network, but GM corporate has refused to physically inspect or resolve it. Prior symptoms? No prior warning lamps or symptoms occurred. The system functioned perfectly until it instantly crashed during the remote update on August 10, 2026, at 9:00 PM.

Since we purchased our 2022 Acadia 6/24/2022 we have had the warning "Service Safety Restraint System" pop up randomly. We have mentioned it numerous times over the years when the vehicle has been in for routine service at our local dealership. They have never been able to determine the cause as no service code ever shows up for them. Today in addition to the warning the red air bag warning light also lit up briefly. The warning has popped up 2x in the last 2 weeks again with today being the only time we noticed the red light as well. We are now more concerned about the safety of our vehicle. (We will be on vacation now through 8/25 & would be available after that date for any contact)

The car stalled while driving it. It would not restart. I received an email with error code po23f. The car had to be towed to the dealership for repair. P023f fuel pump power control module failed. Fuel pump power control module had to be replaced. Car was at 45,041 miles.

“Steering Assist is Reduced” warning, P0128 code, thermostat-related symptoms, increased steering effort or other safety concerns while driving. This issue required increased steering effort and affected my wife's driving ability to respond to changing traffic conditions. This is most likely a faulty thermostat housing assembly. This has been well documented temperature gauge problems, cooling system issues, and related warning messages. Our GMC Acadia is a 2022 AT4 with 53,500 miles. GM recently issued Special Coverage N252508350 for 2021 Acadias with the 3.6L LGX engine affected by thermostat housing issues. Owners of other model years reporting substantially similar symptoms remain responsible for the repair cost. Please investigate this.

This vehicle was bought brand new and has received proper maintenance from one dealership since purchasing. I had to replace the thermostat and radiator before owning the vehicle three years. Within two years of owning the vehicle, my battery went out, which I thought seemed a little early. Then shortly after, I noticed that my locks weren’t engaging when I took my car out of park. Then my car wouldn’t even lock. When I tried to do it on the door control, nothing happened, then when I used my key to do it, it caused the alarm to go off and I couldn’t get it to stop. This resolved after a day, and then it rained again, and it started again. This time, my car wouldn’t unlock and I was trapped in my vehicle and had to open the trunk to get out. This is a known issue according to GMC with no fix. I took it to the dealer, and the codes were saying BCM and told it was being replaced but instead was “serviced”. This issue has begun again, and now I’m being told the locks are the issue and not the BCM, and that may not be covered under warranty. Not being able to get out of your vehicle or not being able to lock your car is a safety issue for passengers leaving them vulnerable to theft, someone entering their car while they’re in it and hurting them. I have had so many issues out of this vehicle and I do not believe I should have to pay for a repair that is a safety issue KNOWN TO THE COMPANY. I feel unsafe driving this vehicle now and it doesn’t even have 60k on it. So I’ve estimate

The camera was replaced; however, the failure recurred while the contact was driving an hour later. Purchased the vehicle in good faith, unaware that the check engine light was illuminated at the time of purchase and not informed that this indicated a serious mechanical or emissions-related issue. After purchase, the dealership repaired an emissions-related problem, and the check engine light was no longer present when the vehicle was returned to me. However, within three days of having the vehicle back in my possession, I began experiencing additional issues, including electrical malfunctions and abnormal noises coming from the front wheels. These problems caused the vehicle to feel unsafe to operate and raised serious concerns about its reliability and overall safety. Due to these concerns, I returned the vehicle to the dealership immediately.

Vehicle has an ongoing water leak, has been to the dealer twice so far. Both times said it was fixed.

No specific incident. High pitch rattling in ceiling. Does not seem to be coming from the sunroof but the middle light fixture.

The rear view camera fails to function intermittently and is occurring at a higher rate of frequency. On numerous occasions when the vehicle is put in reverse the screen goes black with a red triangle caution symbol and a white camera crossed out. Now the system is unavailable more then operational. Based on the drivers rear vision when backing in this particular vehicle, the lack of the rear camera view increases the risk of crash. This also increases the risk of severe injury to a pedestrian behind the vehicle. The same issues were addressed on earlier models via a safety recall which should be extended to 2023 model.

Message with “steering assist reduced, drive with care” pops up on the screen. The temperature gauge drops to on the cold side. After you shut off the car the fan will run for 10 minutes trying to “cool” the car. The temperature cannot regulate.

I have a faulty coolant temperature sensor or thermostat in which the fan is running loudly and temperature gauge is not working

The “Steering assist reduced” message came on and, when shut off, the fan blows very hard and loud.

Coolant temperature gauge stops working and shows cold temperature reading. The radiator fan runs for about 2 minutes as if the engine is overheating. I think it's a temperature sensor issue or thermostat issue or both.

Multiple times an alert has been given for "Driver assist temporarily reduced, drive cautiously". Additionally, the check engine light has come on, with codes for the cooling system. Cooling system fan (HVAC Blower) remains on after shutting off vehicle for anywhere from 5-15 minutes. Coolant levels have been checked and are correct. Heat & AC function, however the thermostat gauge on the instrument panel does not read any temperature at all. At this time, the vehicle has not been taken to the dealership for assessment due to financial constraints.

The entire dashboard instrument panel and entertainment screens frequently go black on 2022 ACADIA. This occurs intermittently several times per week and has occurred since purchase in Nov 2024.

Electronic thermostat fails. Which causes steering assistance reduced drive with care to illuminate. Temperature gauge drops to cold. Air conditioning no longer operates.

The contact stated that the rear passenger side seat belt and driver's side rear seat belt failed to fully extend smoothly while passengers were attempting to buckle the seat belt, or while attempting to secure a car seat inside the vehicle. The contact stated that while pulling the seat belt from the retracted position, the seat belt locked up. The contact had to release the seat belt and then attempt again to securely buckle the seat belt. The contact stated that the rear passenger’s seat belt retractor failed to lock in place while securing the car seat. The contact stated that the belt was very loose. The contact stated that the driver's side rear seat belt was also difficult to secure the car seat. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that both seat belt units needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 42,745.

I have had multiple sensor issues with my Acadia since reaching 60000 miles. Currently, there is a thermostat sensor causing hard shifting, No cold air blowing from the AC, stabilitrack, traction control, steering assist reduced and fan running after turning off. I would not report it but I am in a facebook group where MULTIPLE people are reporting having the same issue in their Acadia's.

Automatic locks are triggering while driving and soon after vehicle is parked and powered off.

The contact owns a 2022 GMC Acadia. The contact stated while driving 5 MPH, there was an abnormal clunking sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. There was a squeaking and squealing sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The local dealer was contacted, and an appointment was scheduled. The vehicle was not yet diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 56,000.

The Fuel Pump Control Module failed. It happened when the car was parked. The car would crank, but would not start. We were stranded far from where we live. It was hot and we had to be towed to a GM Dealership. This part could have failed on the hi-way with awful results. The Dealership verified the defective part. We have the old part as needed. Lots of lights flashed and went out. The Engine Light stayed on. The Gas Gauge was not reporting the correct amount of gas in the tank, but seemed to correct itself before the part failed..

My 2022 Acadia does not go into park at times even though the control button shows that it is in park. On May 15, 2025, I pulled under my carport and put the car in park. As I reached for my purse in the passenger seat, the car started moving forward even though it was in park. It ran through my privacy fence and injured my daughter who happened to be on the other side of the fence. She had some pretty severe bruising and scrapes on her hip, thigh, and upper body. The pain is bad enough, but her arm and shoulder was injured. It continually feels like something running up and down her arm. This is three weeks later and she still has the problem. The horrifying fact is the reality that I could have killed her through no fault of my own. I had the car towed to the dealership because I was afraid to drive it. Of course, the service department said they ran a test through the electrical system and found no problem with it. They brought my car to the front and told me there was nothing wrong with it. In fact they said they had not heard of that kind of problem. When I have to park I find a parking spot that would be least likely to have someone walk in front of it. If I have to park facing anything I will not pull up fully into the parking space so if my possessed car decided to go for a joy ride while in park again, at least someone would have a running chance to stay alive. I consulted the internet trying to find a fix to the problem. What I found was that GM has had the problem

The back up camera failed at 36200 miles and the dealer will not fix. I see there was a recall on 2021 models due to bad cable.

My Acadia has had a stuttering problem and we have taken it to the dealership many times. They finally changed the torque converter but that didn’t fix it. Now today (4/15/25) I got home and I was getting a steering assist reduced error code and then when I turned my car off the fan went as high as it could and wouldn’t turn off. Finally after a bit of time it turned off. I got my car 4/28/22

12/13/2024: While pulling onto the highway, the vehicle suddenly not accelerate past about 18 mph and would not shift gears, only rev the engine louder. Once button was pressed to engage shifting gears manually, the gear number was not shown on the dash as usual, only the letter L. We were able to drive slowly to the next exit ramp to get safely off the road. Notification about engine/transmission popped up on dash and on myGMC app. On star emailed report. Vehicle was towed to local GM dealer and assessed. Have been told that transmission needs completely rebuilt, but no description of actual issue. As of today, 2/5/2025, still waiting on parts to complete transmission rebuild.

While deiving in three lanes of traffic in rainy weather. The vehicle began to buck as though the engine was cutting on and off. No warming lights or abnormal noises preceded the event. The vehicle lost traction several times, but recovered. As quickly as it happened it stopped and normal driving resumed. It occurred 2 more times after approximately 1 mile of travel. I was able to limp the vehicle home, but once I shut it off it would not start again. I had it towed to the dealership and the service consultant informed me that it was the Fuel Pump Control Module that had failed and it was covered under warranty.

This is on behalf of my mother who doesn’t speak English only Spanish and has been having issues with this car The radiator fan stopped working on my moms car causing engine to heat up and almost blow up in the middle of the road and I had to pull aside. Had to also replace original battery in middle of a red stop light car turned off and never came back on due to faulty battery is what the auto parts told me when they tested the battery out. Back up camera never turned back on went completely black Left mirror for signaling also went black. Cause for me not to be able to see other cars coming from other lanes.

Engine light warning displayed, temp gauge on display needle remains far left C and doesn’t deviate from that position, steering assist warning displayed, and fan runs for a few moments after the engine is shut off.

My car (2022 GMC Acadia Denali) died on a busy road (XXX) due to this issue yesterday, the engine just stops at 75 miles per hours, I'm barely made safe to the border of the highway. Fuel management system and Engine electrical system were the errors. The FMCE module need to be replaced as the dealer technician stated. Engine leak was repaired multiple times. Heated Seats repaired multiple times. Purge Pump repaired multiple times. Car is a junk.

I was driving on the highway with my kids and my car suddenly shuts off. There was no warning messages or other symptoms of the problem... no signs! This took place on February 25, 2024. It was towed and taken to the GMC dealership (coral springs) for 3 weeks now.

Vehicle in a motor vehicle accident, hit from behind with great force. Airbags did not deploy. Three occupants in vehicle. The frame was easily damaged of the vehicle causing it to be totaled out. This VIN was not marked apart of recall but yet it does show it is. Recall was reported a week prior to incident unknowingly at the time of incident. Vehicle was hit at a stop red light by a Chevy suburban that drove away. The airbags should have went off. There is video image from local city traffic cam to show the hit. Good brakes though. Was able to hold onto the brakes and not hit the vehicle in front of me. Vehicle is at local salvage lot as of 2/8/24 and you may be able to grab it before it’s parted out or reconstructed.

There are currently approximately 22,000 miles on this vehicle. On approximately December 22, 2023, the car was operating normally, and has been since purchased with 3 miles on it, the car was being parked into a flat parking spot at a local store, when the car was stopped completely, the engine/start button was pushed, which normally put the car into park and shut the car down, this time, the car shut down but NEVER went into Park and started to drift forward approximately 2 feet before the driver was aware that the car was moving. Luckily there was enough room left when the car was parked if not it would have hit another car or someone else. The passenger door was opened upon shut down and the passenger was getting out and that was the only way the passengers knew the car was still moving. The car or incident has not been reported to the dealer as of now but will be in the near future. There were no warning lamps or messages however the brakes were hit immediately upon recognition and the D light was still illuminated. This issue has not been recreated nor has it happened before.

I had a noise in my front driver side and the car felt like it would pull or sputter. I took it to GMC and they said the bearings are miss threaded in the transmission and it is causing problems with the sputtering and control of the car. They said this is a known problem in GMC but they do not have a recall on the car or the parts to repair it. This is a safety risk because if the transmission is slipping then I could loose control of the car and crash. It can also damage other parts to the car. No warning light or check engine light came on in the car.

My engine light came on, I took it to the service center where I purchase the vehicle. They state it is a evaporative emission canister purge pump. They state the part is on back order due to many vehicles having the same faulty part. I contacted GMC, they state the part is not available at this time. Secondly the park assist was recalled to be fixed. That part is also on back order and not available at this time.

The contact owns a 2022 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that while depressing the brake pedal to stop, smoke began to fill the cabin of the vehicle. The transmission was switched to the park position and the contact exited the vehicle and discovered flames and smoke coming from the front brake rotors. Moments later a clicking noise was heard and the unoccupied vehicle rolled down an incline and crashed into a tree and came to a stop. A police report was taken at the scene. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 15,000.

The contact owns a 2022 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that while driving at night at an undisclosed speed, the instrument cluster light inadvertently turned on and off. Additionally, the speedometer was inoperable. The turn signal warning light was illuminated, and the headlights inadvertently illuminated on and off while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on three separate occasions; however, the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The dealer replaced an unknown module, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The back up camera went grainy, then completely black. The car is equipped with surround vision camera system. The camera system flashed on / off then completely blacked out. Then would randomly flash a partial picture, and then back to no picture.

This is about my brand new Acadia. One of the seatbelt locks of the second row is missing. I did report the issue to the GMC local dealer and they’re to replace the missing lock, however, I was expecting to get GMC to take immediate action as this is a major safety concern. I have received no communication back from them yet. I’ve got the vehicle in Tijuana Mexico and typically drive it in both California USA and Baja California Mexico.

Driver side blind spot monitor fails to detect vehicles. I first became aware of the problem as I was entering a freeway and nearly caused an accident. I scheduled service at my GMC dealership but had to wait two weeks for an appointment. The system stared working again just before the appointment and the dealer service department could not find a problem. My neighbor's 2021 GMC Acadia has the same issue. Does somebody have to die to correct a safety defect?

Several times the Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) was activated unnecessarily. Twice were at a 4-way stop. I was turning left with a stationary car (#1) across the intersection waiting to proceed next. As I got part of the way through the turn, the AEB reacked to the car (#1) and engaged. Slowing my car and almost brought it to a full stop in the middle of the intersection. I now drive the car with AEB disabled.
