Part 573 reports
Electrical System › Propulsion System › Traction Battery › Management System/Energy Control Module (bms/Becm) › Software26V582000
Filed Sep 9, 202686 vehiclesFord Motor Company

Defect. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2023-2025 Mustang Mache E vehicles that received a new Battery Energy Control Module (BECM) during a prior repair. The battery energy control module software may cause an incorrect state of charge to display in the vehicle, or lead to an increased risk of a high voltage battery fire after repeated DC Fast Charging cycles.

Risk. An inaccurate state-of-charge reading can lead to an unexpected loss of drive power, increasing the risk of crash. Additionally, a high voltage battery fire increases the risk of injury.

Remedy. Dealers will update the BECM software, free of charge. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed September 18, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the remedy is available, anticipated in December 2026. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26S68. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on September 9, 2026.

Defect. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2023-2025 Mustang Mach E vehicles. The rear side quarter window glass trim may be improperly secured, which can allow it to detach.

Risk. Detached trim pieces can create a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will inspect and replace the quarter window glass assemblies, as necessary, free of charge. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed September 14, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the remedy is available. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26S56. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning September 7, 2026.

Filed Dec 12, 2025272,645 vehiclesFord Motor Company

Defect. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2022-2026 F-150 Lightning BEV, 2024-2026 Mustang Mach-E, and 2025-2026 Maverick vehicles. The integrated park module may fail to lock into the park position when the driver shifts into park. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 114, "Theft Protection and Rollaway Prevention."

Risk. A loss of park function can allow the vehicle to rollaway, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. The park module software will be updated over-the-air (OTA) or by a dealer, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 3, 2026. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25C69. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning January 26, 2026.

Defect. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2021-2025 Mustang Mach E vehicles. In the event of a low battery charge, the electronic door latches may remain locked once the driver or front passenger exits and shuts the door, possibly trapping someone who is unable to use the inside door release handles, such as a child in the back seat.

Risk. The inability to enter or exit the vehicle in an emergency increases the risk of injury.

Remedy. Dealers will update the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and the Secondary On-Board Diagnostic Control Module C (SOBDMC) software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed to 2021-2025 Mustang Mach-E owners September 12, 2025. Additionally, Owner notification letters were mailed to 2024-2025 Mustang Mach-E owners July 10, 2025. Forward Collision Avoidance › Warnings
Filed Oct 20, 2026CA

Our 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E repeatedly displays "Pre-Collision Assist Not Available," meaning forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking assistance are unavailable. The Ford app recorded 26 occurrences from April 19, 2026 at 8:52 p.m. through October 11, 2026 at 1:51 p.m. No crash, fire, injury, or death occurred. The vehicle was purchased new on November 5, 2024 and is titled to my spouse; I am reporting as spouse, operator, and case coordinator. Performance Ford in West Covina has had three repair visits for this concern. Visit 1, July 29-August 10, 2026, in at 34,296 miles, repair order 240919: dealer found IPMA camera diagnostic codes B1385:68, B1385:82, and B1578:89, cleaned the camera area, and updated IPMA software under warranty. Visit 2, September 28-October 8, 2026, in at 37,701 miles, invoice 241715: the same IPMA codes appeared among many diagnostic codes, with service-required, brake-assist, and adaptive-cruise faults, and a "Stop Safely Now" fault occurred during the dealer's own test drive; the dealer replaced a frunk/hood latch and charged $841.01, but the warning returned on October 11, three days after pickup. Visit 3 opened October 12, 2026 at 37,911 miles, repair order 241919, and the vehicle remains with the dealer with no diagnosis as of October 19, 2026. Ford corporate case CXH-09594809-Y6H5M7. I am concerned this safety system can become unavailable repeatedly without a durable repair.

On [XXX] while traveling south on [XXX] at highway speed (in heavy traffic), multiple dashboard messages started to flash, and the car came to a stop in the middle lane. Thankfully, the people behind me were paying attention and did not hit me. I could not get the car to start or put it in neutral. I called 911 and police were dispatched. They blocked two lanes of the highway to push the car to the side. I was able to override the emergency brake to get it into neutral. It was put on a flatbed and taken to Kings Ford for diagnostics. Kings Ford service said that there were pins that came disconnected that resulted in this. They said this was resolved. I have not had a recurrence since, but I can no longer trust the car. My concern is that there could be other 2024 Mustang Mach-E's with the same issue that could result in someone getting hurt. I have also opened a case with Ford EV support directly. I do have a video showing the dashboard messages that I was receiving. I was unable to attach this to the submission as it is a .MOV file. My Ford Mustang Mach-E has repeatedly slowed down unexpectedly while using Adaptive Cruise Control and BlueCruise, even when there were no vehicles in front of me. The vehicle incorrectly displays a car ahead of me on the driver’s screen and begins slowing down as though it is following that car. However, the road ahead is completely clear. This has happened both on the highway while using BlueCruise and on local roads while using Adaptive Cruise Control. In both situations, the vehicle continued slowing down until I manually intervened. I believe it would have continued slowing to a complete stop if I had not taken control. This creates a serious safety concern because the vehicle can unexpectedly and significantly reduce its speed in moving traffic, putting me and other drivers at risk of a rear-end collision. There were no warning lights or error messages before or during these incidents. The only indication was the appearance of a vehicle on the driver’s display that was not actually there. The problem has not yet been inspected or confirmed by a Ford dealership. I am arranging a service appointment to have it investigated. The vehicle is available for inspection. I am concerned that the vehicle’s driver-assistance system is incorrectly detecting vehicles and reducing speed without a valid reason. I am reporting this because the behavior has occurred multiple times under different driving conditions and presents a potential safety hazard. I’ve had a number of electrical i

While driving my 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E GT in mild 49°F weather with a 95% battery state of charge, the vehicle suddenly displayed a 'Performance reduced to lower temperature' message on the dashboard. The vehicle entered a protective 'limp mode,' abruptly and unexpectedly reducing available motor power while actively driving in traffic. This sudden loss of propulsion created a hazardous driving condition. No secondary warning icons or wrench lights appeared. Contacted the Ford dealership, but they refused immediate diagnostic service due to technician availability. This code appeared on 9/15/26 dealership failed to return my call.

The exact failed component is unknown to me at this time, but the issue appears related to the vehicle’s electrical system. Prior to the incident, I received a charging error notification while the vehicle was plugged in. I unplugged the charger from the wall outlet, waited briefly, and plugged it back in. Later that same day, the vehicle entered a no-start condition and would not start despite repeated attempts over approximately two hours. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The vehicle left me stranded at night for approximately two hours without warning. Because the vehicle would not start, I was unable to reliably move or operate the vehicle. Depending on location, weather conditions, surrounding traffic, and other circumstances or emergency situations, this type of failure could place occupants and other drivers at risk. Additionally, I previously reported a separate safety-related incident involving this same vehicle in February 2026 in which the vehicle suddenly and unexpectedly accelerated in my daughter’s daycare parking lot. This has not been reproduced. The vehicle unexpectedly started and operated again at approximately the same time the tow truck arrived, after remaining inoperable for roughly two hours. Because the issue resolved itself without repair, it’s not clear what the root cause is. The vehicle has not yet been inspected. The vehicle has remained garaged following the incident pending further evaluation and communication with Ford. The

Since before September 2025, the driver’s side rear TPMS sensor has been intermittently showing a TPMS fault while the vehicle is already in motion. The vehicle is still under the bumper to bumper warranty. This fault is not always on, but it does comes on while driving. The vehicle always shows the fault in the rear driver’s TPMS sensor. I brought the vehicle to a Ford dealer on September 23, 2025 and they said the tire pressure was low, but upon leaving the dealership the issue came back. The car was brought to a Ford dealer again for the issue on May 2, 2026 and they said the issue couldn’t be replicated and suggested the issue may be a wired baby monitor (due to radio frequency interference) however the wired baby monitor does not emit any radio frequency. We alerted Ford’s corporate customer care and they set up a second opinion at another dealer for May 9, 2026 but when we brought the car that dealer turned us away claiming to not have a record of the appointment. This is an issue of safety as the sensor fault consistently shows at highway speeds (70 mph+). The sensors cannot be trusted which can potentially lead to an accident due to a blow out at high speeds. At this time, Ford has not been helpful in getting this safety issues resolved. If you google the issue, there are plenty of forums talking about the same issue with their Mustang Mach E.

The vehicle experiences a drivability issue where it stalls or loses power and is not safe to operate. The vehicle is currently undrivable and has been at the dealership for nearly one month without a completed diagnosis or repair. The dealership has indicated a possible powertrain or transmission-related issue, but no confirmed repair has been completed. Additionally, there is an active safety recall associated with the vehicle that has not been repaired multiple notifications. This situation poses a safety risk and remains unresolved despite repeated follow-ups.

The Mustang Mach-E Select has three driving modes. From least to most aggressive in terms of acceleration, they are Whisper, Engage, and Unbridle. When driving in 1-pedal mode where removing your foot from the accelerator causes the car to brake, the strongest application of brakes is in Whisper mode as well. It’s not aggressive, but it will bring the car to a stop over a shorter distance. There is a known and reported problem among drivers, shared often in driver forums like Reddit, where vehicles will change to Engage mode from either Whisper or Unbridle. Over a year ago, I first noticed my car doing this on a downhill exit from a highway to a stoplight. I engaged the brake when I realized I was approaching the stopped car in front of me faster than I should. Over the past 16 months, I’ve experienced this at least twice a month, with no way I’ve been able to discern of predicting when it will happen. I drive the car in the most energy-using and highest energy-recovering mode. I am well aware that the braking might change at any time, but am concerned my wife, who drives the car less than I do, or some other Mustang Mach-E driver will rear-end another vehicle by realizing too late the car is not slowing as expected. I’ve told my dealer, I called Ford, now I’m notifying you in the hopes you can get Ford to issue a software fix. This was something I just noticed again pulling in to my garage solely because I was showing my wife something, and I realized I had the time to repor

On January 15 I took my car to Tasca Ford for the "10,000 check up and NYS Inspection. I was given paperwork confirming that the car was functioning properly . On January 17, 2026 my parked, unoccupied 2024 Ford mach E crashed into my parents garage door. I brought the car back to Tasca on January 19 and again was told nothing was wrong with my brakes. I then took the car to an independent mechanic who confirmed the brakes were faulty. I also received a notice in the Ford App that there was a recall for my car. I called Ford to tell them about my accident and that I needed a loaner car. They first denied the recall then told they had "No remedy" at this time I had to contact the dealership. Tasca was still denying a recall and would not give me a loaner. On February 13, 2026 the car rolled out of park and hit an unoccupied car. I now have a rental car through Geico but only for 30 days.

My 2024 Ford Mustang Mach‑E is under an active brake safety recall (NHTSA 25V863 / Ford 25C69) with no remedy available. Ford has not provided a repair timeline, alternative transportation, or any assistance. I am concerned about the safety of operating this vehicle due to the nature of the brake defect and the uncertainty surrounding when it will be fixed. This situation is creating a serious hardship for my household. My husband is a disabled veteran with multiple medical conditions and frequent medical appointments. I am responsible for transporting him, and we rely on having a safe and dependable vehicle. The unresolved brake defect makes me uncomfortable driving the vehicle, yet I have no alternative transportation. Ford Credit has declined to assist with a buyback, and the dealership cannot offer a repair because no remedy exists. I am requesting NHTSA’s assistance in ensuring Ford provides a timely remedy or appropriate support (such as a loaner vehicle or buyback) so that my family is not placed at risk due to an unresolved safety defect.

There is an issue with the Mach E where while in a parking lot at low speeds the user may accidentally press the cruise control setting which will initiate the car jolting up to 15 mph (minimum speed for adaptive cruise control system) instantly. This happens when you are going 5 mph or less in a parking lot. Although this is more of a design issue where some users may not deal with this issue, it should be noted that forums have been posted about this same exact issue and it can cause a danger in terms of hitting pedestrians or other vehicles in parking lots or other slow moving traffic. There have been several instances where this has happened to me.

While picking up my daughter from school this week, I entered a school parking lot and began a low-speed right turn to pull into a parking space. During this maneuver, the car unexpectedly and abruptly accelerated forward. I reacted immediately and applied the brakes, but the car traveled approximately two car lengths beyond the intended parking spot. I came to a stop across two parking spaces. This occurred in an active school pickup area with parents and children nearby. There were no cars or pedestrians directly in front of me at that moment. I still fear what the outcome might have been if anyone had been present. Immediately after stopping, I observed that the adaptive cruise control speed indicator on the instrument cluster was set to 15 and was crossed out, indicating it had recently been active and disengaged. However, I did not engage adaptive cruise control during that trip. Based on the car’s behavior and the display state, my best assessment is that adaptive cruise control was unintentionally engaged during the parking maneuver causing the car to attempt to accelerate toward a previously set cruise speed despite being in a low-speed, turning scenario. Again, I did not use ACC on this trip. A sudden acceleration in a school parking lot presents an extreme hazard. The only reason this incident did not result in injury or death was immediate braking and luck. There were no warning lamps or messages prior to the incident. The car has not yet been inspected by a dealer

I was proceeding to drive home from an appointment with a friend, the car suddenly lost power and I had no control over anything. I was able to keep the steering wheel in the locked position trying to get to the side of the road. Thankfully the speed was only 25mph, as someone had just switched lanes and came in front of me. I was in the process of turning to enter the highway. I've been having a problem with this car since I purchased. I told Ford after this incident, that I fear to drive the vehicle with my family, because that's how scared I was when I had no control. I requested multiple times for someone from Ford Corporate to contact me, and still have not heard from anyone. On 11/26 I received a recall for the 12v battery, which is pretty much what keeps the car on and off, and I still have not heard from anyone in Ford corporate.

My vehicle is only 1.5 years old, yet the clear-coat paint has already deteriorated, and the vehicle is also subject to an official Ford recall. I reported both issues to the dealer more than two months ago. Despite multiple calls and follow-ups, the service department continues giving me the same unacceptable excuse: “We cannot take your vehicle because we do not have a loaner car available.” This is completely unreasonable. This is a recall, and refusal to accept my car due to a lack of loaner vehicles is not my responsibility — it is a failure of Ford and the dealer to provide required support. As a result: •My recall remains unresolved •The paint defect continues to worsen •I have no scheduled service date •I have been told to “wait indefinitely” with no solution This level of customer support is unprofessional, unacceptable, and harmful to the Ford brand. I’m taking it to ford dealership tomorrow but not sure how this will be fixed. Now I’m scared to drive on rainy days. I have drove before in rainy days and never had this happen. There is an issue with Cruise Control while moving out of a parking space. I am concerned for my wife who knows nothing about technology. If she were to MISTAKENLY press the Cruise Control button while parked and a car is in front of her, the car's Cruise Control will ACTIVATE AND LUNG FORWARD at a speed of 15MPH. This can be frightening and in a panic a person can crash. This has happened to me on SEVERAL occasions but I am able to handle the situation. If it happens to my WIFE, there surely will be a HUGE problem. I can reproduce the problem very easily. If you are parked behind a car Cruise Control can be activated. If you are STOPPED and there are no cars in front of you, you CANNOT activate Cruise Control. Therefore, when you need Adaptive Cruise Control (for traffic jams) a double click of the button seems feasible. Single click when you are over 30mph. This should be an easy software update.

I lease a 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E. On [XXX] the vehicle suddenly displayed a High-Voltage Battery Fault, Powertrain Malfunction / Reduced Power warning. The dealer replaced the High-Voltage Junction Box (HVJB), however I am unsure whether the actual root cause was ever identified. This failure shows a major defect in the high-voltage electrical system. Separately, my vehicle is also subject to Recall 25S65 / NHTSA 25V404, where a discharged 12-volt battery can prevent the electronic door latches from opening, risking passenger entrapment. Ford has no remedy available and has only projected a future software update. My car is still at the dealership. These two issues are connected: the HV system (through the HVJB) powers the DC-DC converter that keeps the 12-volt battery charged. A failure on the HV side can starve the 12-volt system, which directly creates the entrapment risk described in the recall. I live in Florida, where extreme heat makes this risk especially dangerous for children, pets, and elderly passengers. What is my emergency plan...carry a hammer to break the windows on every trip? This is an unreasonable and unsafe expectation for consumers. Ford has not provided any fix or assurance of safety. I have specifically asked Ford whether my car is safe to drive — they have not provided any assurances, merely repeating that Ford has not issued a stop-driving order on the vehicle. This unresolved defect substantially impairs the use, value, and safety of my vehicle, a

I am reporting a serious safety defect involving the electronic front door latches on my 2024 Ford Mustang Mach E. During a 12V battery discharge, the electric latches can fail, preventing the doors from opening in the outside. This means the driver or passengers could become trapped in the vehicle, or the driver can be locked out in an emergency, even if both key fob and key are present. This defect poses a critical safety risk in situations requiring a rapid exit - such as accident or extreme heat and increases the risk of injury or death. As an active duty service member, I work in a secure federal government facility and have to leave my phone in my vehicle during working hours. This heightens the danger, because if the latch fails, I would have no secondary means to gain entry or exit, potentially delaying emergency responses. Ford has acknowledged the defect in the recall (25S65/25V404) in early June. They said to expect an update by the end of Q3, which is nearing and I haven’t heard anything yet. I believe this defect warrants urgent attention, and consideration of a manufacturer buyback due to severe safety implications.

The defect can trap occupants or pets inside if the 12V battery discharges, posing a serious safety risk in hot weather (currently 100°F in my area). I contacted Kendall Ford of Meridian, ID, on 8/14/25 to schedule the repair. They confirmed the remedy is a software update not yet available for my model year and estimated it will not be released until Q4 2025. I lease a brand-new 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E with approximately 5,000 miles. The vehicle is subject to NHTSA Campaign Number 25V404 (Ford Recall 25S65) for defective exterior electronic door latches that may fail to open if the 12-volt battery discharges. Ford has confirmed there is no repair available and no timeline for a fix. This defect has been acknowledged by my Ford dealer and Ford corporate. While Ford states that the interior manual handles still function, this ignores a serious real-world safety hazard. I frequently transport dogs and other passengers who cannot operate the manual handles. If I step outside the vehicle — even briefly — and the exterior handles fail, these occupants could be trapped inside. In an emergency such as extreme heat, cold, or fire, this could result in injury or death, and rescue would require breaking the glass, creating additional risk of harm. Ford’s own recall language acknowledges this is a “safety defect,” yet the current stance is that the vehicle is “safe to drive.” This does not address the entrapment risk for vulnerable occupants. The defect has not yet resulted in entrapment or injury, but it is an active and unresolved hazard that could occur without warning. This complaint is being filed to document the risk before harm occurs and to ensure a timely, safe remedy is provided.

This is actually the 3RD time, but the last time I dealt with this, the dealership had no recollection or documentation of a bad battery or battery issues; however, that IS what I was told the first time, but when I picked it up, I was told they just FIXED something, with the battery. The 2nd time, the doors locked up, the battery would not charge & I had it towed to the same dealership, that it was purchased from, from my home of Giddings, TX to College Station, TX, & I was told, I needed a whole new Battery replacement. The car was purchased brand new with approximately 11 miles in October/November of 2024, & it currently has between 7000-8000 (I do not remember the total amount, but it has over 7,000, but less than 8,000). I am the owner of a 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E affected by Recall 25S65 involving a 12V battery discharge issue that creates a serious entrapment hazard. If the 12V battery fails, the front doors can remain locked—even if someone exits using the mechanical release. This puts me and my family at risk of being locked inside or outside the vehicle in dangerous situations. I live in Texas, and I have two young daughters—both in car seats. The idea that this vehicle could trap us inside during a power failure, especially in Texas heat, is terrifying. I bought this vehicle to transport my family safely, and I no longer trust it to do that. Ford has admitted the risk exists but has said that a remedy won’t be available until Q3 2025. I contacted the dealership and confirmed that no parts or software are available. That leaves me and my family vulnerable for an unknown number of months. This is not a minor inconvenience—it’s a safety failure with real consequences. I am respectfully demanding a full vehicle buyback. I will not wait until the worst happens. The vehicle poses an immediate and unacceptable risk, and Ford’s delayed timeline makes continued ownership unreasonable. I need help ensuring my family is protected.

Sudden unintended acceleration event. I was pulling into a parking spot going very slow and lifted my leg off the accelerator when the car suddenly surged forward and crashed into a tree, a wall and a nearby parked car (no people in the car). This put my safety at risk. I was thankfully not severely hurt and had no other passengers in my car. I have sustained some muscle strains in my neck. I have reported the incident to Ford Credit and requested the data logs and investigation. My airbags were also not deployed and this seems very similar to other reports I have seen online. The police were called to the site and a case filed. There was a message flashing "parking sensors fault".

On 5/14/2025 at aprox 5:35pm I was completely stopped in traffic when all of a sudden my car started to accelerate without me pressing on the accelerator. I pressed the brake pedal, however the car continued to move forward, by this time the brake pedal was pressed to the floor and the car was continuing to more forward. I was stopped aprox 6 feet behind a semi truck, and ended up crashing into the back of the semi. The car continued to surge forward, even though my car was pressed against the back of the semi. It was at that time when I put the car in Neutral. When traffic started to move, I followed the truck, but apparently he did not realize I had hit him. I was able to drive home. There was significant damage to the front of my car. Normally I would get an alert if I am too close to the car in front of me to prevent an accident, the alert never came on. The airbags did not deploy. I was in 1 pedal driving mode when this happened, and after the incident I switched to 2 pedal driving. I have an app for my car and it does not state any accidents occurred, there are no alerts listed for this day.

Purchased new 2024 Ford Mach E on 03/31/25. Had 15 miles when purchased. On 04/10/25 at 185 miles on odometer, car experienced 2 malfunctions, Powertrain and High Voltage. This placed the car at alternating restricted speed of 5-12 mph on a highway. Towed vehicle to dealership same day as unsafe to drive. On 04/18/25, dealership technician cleared the Diagnostic Trouble Codes and stated that they were unable to recreate error condition, therefore wanted to release the car as is with no recommended fix. The technician called it an "intermittent" Trouble code.

The HVBJB failed on my 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-e. I first noticed a dashboard warning regarding a powertrain malfunction when I tried to start the car about a half-hour after we returned home from an approximately 170-mile drive five days ago. The warning said it was a powertrain malfunction and to get service soon. The car started an hour later and I was able to drive it to the Ford Service center where I bought the new car only last June. There they diagnosed the problem with this language: "HV JUNCTION BOX - FOUND P0AA1:68 AND P0AA1:00 TO BE HARD SET AND THE TO BE IN LIMP MODE. NEED TO REPLACE HV JUNCTION BOX ( 414-03A PPT P4 ) AND RETEST ALL MODULES. WILL NEED MORE TIME AFTER REPAIR TO TEST ALL SYSTEM. MEY NEED TO TAKE APART HV BATTERY AGIAN..." The service people told me that they need to keep the car for two weeks to replace the part and conduct follow-up tests. I know that the failed component has been the subject of two past recalls (2022, 2023) of the 2020-2022 model years for the Mach-e. The first recall resulted in Ford's attempt at a software fix, while the second required replacing the HVBJB in cars in which the software fix proved insufficient, presumably because the part had already been damaged before the fix and later failed under heat stress. Based on my experience this week it seems clear that neither recall resulted in Ford fixing the underlying problem with the part. Importantly, Ford says the part is subject to failure from overheating when drivers too of

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The high-voltage battery system and powertrain system both failed. The vehicle went into limp mode, showing alerts for “Powertrain Malfunction / Reduced Power” and a “High-Voltage Battery Warning.” The vehicle is available for inspection if requested. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The incident occurred while driving on the freeway at 75–77 mph, which significantly increased the risk of a crash. The sudden loss of power in heavy traffic was dangerous and could have led to a collision. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Not yet. The issue has been documented through the Ford app and in-vehicle warning messages, and I am in the process of waiting for a diagnostic to be completed by the dealer. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Waiting for dealer to look at it. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes, immediately before and during the failure, the vehicle and the Ford app displayed messages indicating a powertrain malfunction/reduced power, along with a high-voltage battery warning alert. Additional description: While driving on the freeway at approximately 75–77 mph, the vehicle suddenly entered limp mode with a dramatic reduction in speed

New car making 65-75 db loud constant clunking noises when turning steering at stopped. 1st dealer visit, it said it’s normal because they have other of same model making same noises. 2nd visit, dealer said it’s noises from brake binding and it’s normal and showed me another car of same model making same noises. Problem is not resolved. When brake pedal is pressed, there shouldn’t be binding on new car. Binding means brake pad is slightly touching the rotor when brake pedal is released. When pressed, pads should firmly grip the rotor. Not gripping firmly means the caliper is pushing the pad against the rotor. Uneven brake pad shouldn’t be causing it either since it brand new. And it’s not brake bedding-in either. It’s now at 1944 miles. Brake binding is what the dealer say but could potentially be suspension problem and there are more of this model making same noises. No waning light. There were 3 times when it pulled to one side when driving straight. I have videos of the clunking when turning steering.

While driving the vehicle electrical console started flashing then lost power and stopped dead in the road. The battery was reading between 70% to 80% prior with a range of over 250 miles still available. Due to complete lack of any power the car could not be moved or placed into neutral for towing. It caused a traffic situation blocking 2 lanes of traffic for approximately 4 hours waiting for roadside assistance for jump start and towing. EV's cannot be towed like a regular car and not having access to the electronics made the car like a brick. Eventually I was able to attain assistance with a jump start that was able to provide enough power to drive onto the back of a tow truck and to the Ford dealership. Roadside assistance noted the 12-volt battery at the front of the vehicle was bulging and potentially overheated creating a potential explosion hazard and lack of electrical support to the main vehicle.

Completely locked out of car without any access. No way of unlocking car. I tried via key fob, key pad, approach, mobile app. The locks are completely electronic, so no way to mechanically unlock. Had to call a tow truck to tow it to the dealership where I bought it just a couple weeks earlier. 2 days earlier, an OTA update was installed that was labeled as improving battery optimization. This seems to be what triggered the issue. Many owners of 2023 and 2024 Mustang Mach E's are experiencing the same issue.

No unusual pattern of severe incidents in the complaint record.

Complaint counts track how many cars were sold and how long they have been on the road as much as they track quality. A common model from 2013 has had a decade to accumulate reports; a rare one from last year has not. The signal worth weighing is in the severity columns, in whether the same component keeps appearing, and in whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.

Recall repairs are free for as long as the recall stands. Check whether a specific car still has open work at NHTSA's VIN lookup.
