I have done a brake job recently replacing the rear brakes and repaired master cylinder. Car has been inspected by a mechanic who says they have done everything they could and the brakes are not working properly. The brakes have to be pressed all the way to the floor and will not stop. FSA 19S54 is a recall he says was never done and suggested I go to dealer to have it done; however, when I make the attempt to the dealer says that only the air bag and the throttle are under recalls and that is all they can fix. REASON FOR THIS SAFETY RECALL # FSA 19S54 states that in some of the affected vehicles, a chemical reaction between aged DOT 3 brake fluid and the zinc plating inside the Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) may result in a gel formation. A normally closed valve may be stuck open, which may result in extended brake pedal travel. This seems to be what is happening. I am taking to San Antonio's Northside Ford as soon as I can to do the airbag recalls(Ford's number for these recall is 21S12, 18S01, 16S26, 18S34, 19S01 & 21S05.) and the throttle ( recalls that Ford told me about. I do not understand why when I Google recall that I see the airbags recall for driver and passenger side and the ABS hydraulic brake recall but do not see the one Ford said about the throttle. At the very least the information could be passed down throughout your system. Other recalls, 11 total, need to be addressed if not already. I happen to know Northside Ford actually attempted to charge me for some o

My brakes went totally out as I was backing out of my driveway and all the abs light lit up. When I tried to press the brakes they went all the way to the floor and barely stopped. Once I turned the car off and on it went away. But a few hours later it came right back I took to the dealership they said the ABS failed. Part has been on back order
As I was driving the power steering failed. A warning message popped up saying to service Power steering and service Advantrax. The steering became a little stiff but I managed to drive it home. My husband went to start it after I got home and it can't be steered at all. This came with no warning or indications whatsoever. From what I have read it's a failure in the power steering system that causes it to need to be reset. I could have wrecked because of this. Please help.
My Fusion has been having the same issues as other Ford Fusions with the electrical power steering, traction control and the tpms system. They have been acting up for months and now the power steering does not work at all. I have talked to my local Ford dealer and the Ford 1800 number and they say since it does not fall within the VIN guidelines they are not responsible for it and they I will have to pay out of pocket for it and if it should ever be recalled for it they would then reimburse me my cost if I kept all of my reciepts. I feel like it should be under recall and Ford have to pay for it.
I recently had to replace my front tires due to them having a slow leak. Last night me and my daughter were driving down the interstate towards town, when I almost completely lost steering. Thankfully we was only going 40mph instead of 70mph due to exiting the interstate. Had we of been running 70mph and switching lanes we could of crashed into one of the semi's driving close to us.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 MPH, the brake pedal was depressed however, the brakes failed to respond. Additionally, the contact stated that the brakes, ABS, traction control, and check engine warning lights were illuminated. The contact veered to the side of the road and restarted the vehicle, but the failure persisted. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 160,000.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the electric power steering failure warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that excessive force was needed to steer the vehicle. The vehicle was inspected by a certified mechanic who stated that the power steering assist had failed to operate as needed. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the due to the age of the vehicle was not eligible for a free repair under recall. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 132,000.
I was driving on a heavy highway when my power steering stopped working sending me all over the highway. Luckily I was able to pull over without getting hit. We took the car to ace Ford in Woodbury NJ just so they could look at it and was told the whole power steering rack and pinion had to be replaced. I have 112,000 miles. I know the Ford company recalled all 2011 Ford fusions for the same problem. They want me to pay over $2000 I don't have. I didn't have any warning lights until the steering went out. Power steering failure and traction control light. Just boom...gone
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the brake pedal was depressed, but failed to respond and went to the floorboard. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the hydraulic control unit (HCU) needed to be replaced. The contact was made aware that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
While driving our 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid, several warning appeared on the instrument panel. " service power steering" came on in red, "service advancetrac" was orange. The vehicle still had power steering at this point. After arriving home and turning off the engine, I restarted the engine to see if the lights might reset. At this point , the one warning changed to "service power steering NOW". At this point, there was no power assist with the steering. I know there is a recall, #15V340000, for 2011 - 2013 Fusion steering fails. Why was the 2010 model not included, as I have found many complaints online of steering failures on this model year car.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving 20 MPH on an icy road, while approaching a stop sign, the brake pedal was depressed but only responded when it was pressed to the floorboard. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the hydraulic control unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 170,000. The VIN was unavailable.
The brakes don’t grab. They go almost to the floor and it takes a lot longer to stop. We have owned this car for 10 years and it is a continued problem. We take it to the mechanic and they can’t find anything wrong with it. We tap on the hydraulic brake control unit which makes the brakes work again. We finally found a recall for Ford fusions where the valve inside the hydraulic brake control unit can stick open and cause increased stopping time. Our fusion is a 2010 but does not fall into the criteria for the recall. I think the recall needs to be expanded.
I have contacted the Ford dealership in my area over a year ago and still have not been serviced on the air bag recall. Also, the power steering system is faulty. I am getting no assistance in repairing from the location the vehicle was purchased from. Power steering message appeared on my dash while driving. This is the second vehicle I have gotten from the dealer with a power steering issue.
Leaving driveway forward steering got difficult then I was unable to turn the wheel. Thankfully I was not coming home from college on the interstate going 70 when the steering failed. Ford has been using this part since 2008 but recalls are only on 2011 & 2012. Why? I could have been killed. Mechanic says car needs replacement of electronic power steering assist system.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving 30 MPH, the vehicle began to jerk forward. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to continue driving to his destination. The contact stated that he had experienced the failure five times in total. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 161,000.
The recalled item that was suppose to have been fixed malfunctioned. The ABS brake modulator had malfunctioned leaving me with pretty much no brakes. One minute I had brakes the next nothing. My car was taken to Monroe the week before for tires. They noticed nothing wrong I had also put new brake pads on. The car should of not had its brakes just go out like it did. Had I been on the highway or driving over 30 i wouldn't of been able to stop. I could of died from a recalled item that was suppose to have been fixed so i would of never ended up in the situation I was in. No brakes barely able to stop going less than 10 miles at a traffic circle. Luckily God was on my side, it wasn't busy at the intersection and I didn't have to stop. If I did I would of smacked right into the other vehicle since I didn't know my brakes weren't working correctly. They where there then nothing. Foot went right down to the floor still barely did anything to stop. Slowed the car down very very minimally. The repair shop was a nightmare. Ford of Greenwiche had my car for over a month. When they said it was fixed it wasn't. We where also charged by them for the replacement of the brake modulator which was a defect by the company that we shouldn't of been charged for. Also numerous things where done wrong by thos company and I feel that no one should ever have to go through what I did with them. The lack of care, putting the repair off, lack of organization, faulty repair-just to name a few. I would l
UNKNOWN power steering stopped working about a year ago while leaving to go to work and has been garaged ever since due to not being able to take to get worked on Pot hole was hit 1-2 days prior going about 15-20 mph has not been inspected and no warning lights or messages were on didn't have an accident and only have liability insurance
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while his daughter was driving approximately 35 MPH, the brakes became inoperable. The contact was able to steer off the road and stopped the vehicle. During the failure, several unknown warning lights illuminated but then disappeared. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who referred the contact to the dealer. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the HCU control unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The manufacturer was contacted but no additional assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage 172,000. The contact stated that the vehicle was manufactured days after the recall date however, the vehicle is the exact make and model with the same failure.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the ABS warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the ABS module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the contact stated that after she retrieved the vehicle, while driving at an undisclosed speed, the traction control, the tire pressure, the ABS, the service brake warning lights were illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that the brake fluid leaked, the electrical system intermittently malfunctioned and the key fob failed to respond. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.
When driving, the ABS failed. The breaks depressed to the floor and the parking break was needed to fully stop the vehicle. The ABS light, track control, and service break lights were illuminated. The car was taken to the dealer and they said that the hydraulic control unit needs to be replaced. While there is a recall for this part for other 2010 ford fusions, my vin number is not covered. A formal complaint was made with Ford but no response has been received. It seems like there are many complaints about the same issue for Fords that are somehow not covered under the recall.
This vehicle has been in our family since new and all recalls and service has been done on schedule. Currently only have 75K miles on it. On January 19, 2023 I was driving the vehicle in question and had a warning pop up saying Check Brake System and Service AdvanceTrac at the same time I lost my brakes and the vehicle lost power but not total power. No warning was given prior to this happening. I was able to stop the vehicle after pushing the brakes all the way to the floor and putting the car in neutral. I was luckily in my neighborhood after driving home in heavy traffic. I was able to get the car to my driveway and after restarting the car the warning went away and my husband drove the vehicle and did not have the issue. I found that Ford had a Customer Service Satisfaction internal recall back in 2010 on this vehicle for the exact same problem. The fix was applied back in 2010. I just recently brought the car in for another recall for a battery firmware update which I believe could have messed with the fix that was applied back in 2010. I called Ford and they stated there was nothing they could do. I can't get into a ford dealership for them to look into this for another 2 weeks. If other vehicles received this same firmware update for the battery they may incur the same issue and someone could be hurt or worse killed if they panic and don't know what to do. I had a hard enough time stopping the vehicle and I knew what to do but luckily I was not in traffic when it happe
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving approximately 25 MPH, the "Service Advancetrac" message was displayed and ABS warning light was illuminated. The contact pulled over and the vehicle was turned off and restarted, and the warning message was no longer displayed, and the warning light was no longer illuminated. The contact stated that the failure recurred. Additionally, while driving at various speeds, the "Check Brake System" and ABS warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the ABS module needed to be replaced; however, the part was on back order. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 99,000.
I was driving. Went to stop for a stop light. I pushed peddle down. It went down 90% before I had any resistance. With the last 10% I was able to slow the car before a crash. All of the lights on the dashboard turned on, including the brake light. I turned off the car and pulled the key. I put the key in and restarted, while still sitting in the roadway. I was able to drive it less than a mile to the fire dealer. They tell me the ABS module is not working. I see there is a recall on ABS modules for other 2010 ford fusions, but not mine.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that when he started the vehicle, the steering wheel was locked. The power steering assist warning light was illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that previously, the fuse was removed and then replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified, and the contact was informed that the VIN was not included in a recall and was advised to call the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 159,000.
While driving at about 15 mph my dashboard ABS system failed light turned on as well as to traction failure and warning brake system maintainace light. I pressed on brake pedal and no braking was felt resulting in the car not stopping. I let it glide till it stopped I turned the car off and on and all the same warning lights were on I pressed on the brake while in drive mode and pedal to floor.
2010 Fusion Hybrid. One owner. The car had multiple warning lights come on, including "Check Brake System" "Service Advancetrac" and "ABS" as brake pedal collapsed to floor while driving in normal highway conditions. This was not an anti-lock brake hard stop incident. it was a normal easy braking situation with no advance warning of brake system failure. Vehicle has always been maintained in correct condition. Have photo of dash lights from incident. Pulled over after near collision, took dash photo, turned car off. Upon restarting, the brake pedal was normal level and firmness again. Carefully drove to nearest repair shop who could not find a cause nor repeat the failure. Local Ford dealer and VIN search indicates this vehicle is NOT covered by 19S54. Nonsense.
Power steering went out while driving. Nearly cause me to crash. Apparently this is an issue with these vehicles but my vin is not part of the recall?
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed and went to the floorboard. The contact applied the parking brake to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the ABS Hydraulic Control Units (HCU) needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The manufacturer advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 180,000.
ABS module sticking brake pedal soft Must press hard to stop , brake feel like they don’t work ABS Lights come on traction control disengagement Took to mechanic for verification.
After Antilock brake activation the brake peddle fades and have to push brake peddle to floor. Have to push on pedal to get car to stop. It only happens after try to stop on a slippery surface such as ice and snow. Pedal will return back to normal after about 20 or 30 minutes. I feel this is not a safe condition, it could end up with me getting into an accident when the pedal fades to the floor. I did notice that there was a recall for certain 2006-2010 Ford fusions but apparently my vehicle isn’t a part of that. I plan on taking the vehicle to my local dealership to get it repaired. I will also argue my case to the dealership as to that my vehicle should fall within that recall as it is exhibiting the same issues as the recall is stating. This has occurred on multiple occasions and only after my antilock system activated.
The contact's girlfriend owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the brake pedal would depress to the floorboard as both the ABS and traction control warning lights appeared on the instrument panel. The contact changed the brake pads and rotors; however, the failure persisted. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulics) which he linked to the failure. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
I was driving my 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid down the highway when suddenly i was unable to steer anymore. I was changing lanes and the wheel locked at an angle causing me to cross multiple lanes of traffic and eventually hitting another car. The car ended up being claimed as a total loss. I am still required to pay more for insurance now because the accident was caused because of my cars steering rack failing and locking. There have been hundreds of complaints describing exactly what happened to me. No warning lights or any other warning signs. Just sudden and total failure. Its more upsetting knowing that the 2011 and 2012 model years had a recall for this but the 2010 did not even though the steering rack has the same exact part numbers. Insurance didnt even do an investigationand i was told it was because theres no way to investigate it after the crash which i know is a lie. I absolutely hate the fact that im still affected by this financially and ford doesnt care at all about the people it has happened to.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving approximately 45 MPH, the vehicle experienced a loss of power steering assist. The service advance track message was displayed. The check engine and power steering assist fault warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the steering rack angle sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was made aware of the failure, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 53,000.
While driving the steering failed, was able to avoid crashing into power pole!!!
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving approximately 10 MPH in a parking lot, the power steering lost functionality. The contact stated that the "Service Power Steering Now" warning light was illuminated. The contact stopped the vehicle in the parking lot and turned off and on restarted the vehicle several times; however, the power steering assist failed to resume normal operation. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure to manufacturer Customer Satisfaction Program 15N01 (EPAS Steering Efforts). The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that adding 2-gallons of fuel to the fuel tank took an estimated 30 minutes. The contact stated that the pump nozzle shut-off valve was continually stopping the flow of gasoline into the tank. Additionally, the contact stated while his son was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost power steering functionality. An unknown message indicating power steering failure was displayed. The contact's son was able to drive the vehicle to his residence while using extra physical strength to steer the vehicle. The contact associated the failure with two unknown recalls. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the power steering unit needed to be replaced; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
Airbags did not deploy in a head-on collision that resulted in a total loss of my vehicle. My safety was put in danger as I did not have protection from hitting the steering wheel, driver's side door, or center console.
The power steering assist fault came on because of either a tire sensor warning being ignored or evap code P1450 being ignored. Either way my step-son ignored the check engine light apparently for a couple months. Understandable from young driver. Ford motor company programs this and I'm sure other vehicles to interrupt your electric power steering if you keep ignoring a check engine light. Problem now is 1. For them to do that I feel is wrong first off because taking someone's power steering assist away could be very very dangerous if not fatal. 2 both issues have been repaired with new parts. And the codes will not clear from obd2. Ford claims it needs to be driven through several drive cycles for the ecm to reset the codes because a scan tool will not reset a permanent code. Now not only are they casing this problem with their own programming of ecm but they are advising drivers to drive 100-200 miles over several days completely so called "drive cycles " or monitor cycles " in order for ecm to reset codes. The computer has to read there is no problems apparently 3-4 times then it will reset itself or take vehicle in to have their mechanic reset it with a ford software program called FORscan or FORDsys the only 2 programs to get into main computer. This is beyond the repair of my sons vehicle being corrected in a timely manner. Now it's really a safety issue with Ford and their engineers who are programming vehicles this way. There should be a nationwide lawsuit against th
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while coming to a stop, excessive pressure was needed to depress the brake pedal for the vehicle to come to a stop. The brake pedal almost needed to be depressed to the floorboard for the vehicle to come to a gradual stop. The failure occurred intermittently. The vehicle had not been taken to the dealer. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The contact became aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) and contacted the manufacturer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline to file a complaint. The approximate failure mileage was 148,000.
Ford Fusion Hybrid 2010 ||| ABS module error. Yes. ||| Total brake failure while driving; car ignored me pushing brake pedal. ||| No. They performed a diagnosis and ran the ABS module through testing software but found nothing wrong. They test drove it and found nothing wrong. ||| Ford service center, yes. Others no. ||| No obvious symptoms occurred prior to the incident. The car did feel like it was responding ever so slightly differently to my braking for a couple months prior to the total brake failure, but it was so slight I thought it was just in my head. There were no warning lights or anything that would lead me to believe that something was wrong with my brakes. ||| FULL INCIDENT: I was leaving a parking lot and drove up a short ramp to merge onto the highway. When I got to the top of the ramp the ramp curved downwards towards the highway, and I pressed on the brakes to stop the car so I could check for traffic. I was at a 90degree angle to the traffic. The car completely ignored me pressing on the brakes and continued to coast towards the highway; which was about 4ft in front of me; and I pressed on the brakes again and nothing happened. I saw a red brake light on my dashboard and heard loud beeping noises from it, I put the car in Park, which stopped the car, then I pulled the E-brake and turned the car off and called for a tow truck. When the car was restarted by the tow truck driver the issue went away. The tow truck driver was able to drive and brake just fine, a
Total brake failure, with pedal going to the floor. NHTSA safety recall 19S54 for hydraulic control unit does not apply according to McDavid Ford of Fort Worth because of build date afterward. Recall should be extended since this is a common safety hazard for vehicles built after the recall cutoff of 7-15-09. Very dangerous not to issue a mandatory recall. Also, the air bag replacement has been delayed for probably more than a year. It's time for NHTSA to get serious about addressing these glaring safety problems in the Fusion ASAP. Please do your job.
The car has multiple warning lights come on, including "Check Brake System" "Service Advancetrac" and "ABS". The car still brakes but only with much more force and brakes much more slowly. At first it was intermittent but now is stuck in this form. Ford has done a recall for my model (19S54) but my car was built 5 months after the last ones. It was manufactured in the same factory. Based on research, the fix seems to be replacing the ABS module and flushing out the brake fluid. I hope that the recall will eventually extend to later-built cars like my own.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that after parking the vehicle and removing the key from the ignition switch, the vehicle rolled away. The contact stated that the parking brake was applied to stop the vehicle and then the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic but was not diagnosed or repaired and was towed back to the residence. The contact was made aware of an unknown power train recall; however, the local dealer confirmed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 200,000.
Power steering should be addressed message displayed on dashboard 11/30/2022. On 12/1/2022 power steering service required displayed on dash & the car had NO STEERING at all. My research indicates power steering issues on this model.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the power steering default warning light would illuminate. In order to turn off the warning light, the contact had to turn off and then restart the vehicle. The failure occurred intermittently however, the failure persisted with the power steering assist default warning light remaining illuminated, with the service advancetrac and traction control warning lights illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who diagnosed that there was an internal failure in the power steering module. The contact was informed that the steering gear needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 87,000.
Brakes stopped working. ABS and Brakes lights flashed on when hitting brake from reversing out of parking spot
Front brake calipers are seizing up and getting so hot they smoke (could potentially cause fire). This heat destroys the brake rotors and pads. The car wobbles when this is occurring. This is the second time in two years the rotors, brakes, calipers and brake lines had to be replaced. Mechanic has replaced all components again and has determined the ABS module is sticking, which will not allow the new brake system fluid to bleed. Mechanic determined the ABS module is malfunctioning and needs to be replaced. This car is mostly highway driven.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
