My 2017 Ford F-150 equipped with the 10R80 10-speed automatic transmission experiences repeated harsh and unpredictable shifting. The transmission will hesitate or delay during shifts and then engage very hard, sometimes producing a severe bang or jolt through the truck. It also experiences abnormal gear hunting and inconsistent shifting behavior. These symptoms can occur during normal driving and create a safety concern because the transmission does not always respond predictably to driver input. Ford has issued technical service bulletins addressing harsh engagement, delayed engagement, harsh shifting, and delayed shifting on 2017-2020 F-150 vehicles equipped with the 10R80 transmission. My vehicle is experiencing these same types of symptoms. I am reporting this because I believe the 10R80 transmission in affected 2017 F-150 vehicles should be investigated for a potential safety defect.
I have been trying to get this recall resolved. This truck was at the Metro Ford dealership in Tupelo, Mississippi for over one week in July 2026. Replacement parts sent to dealership were also recalled. Dealership ended up placing original part back on the truck. How can this issue be resolved?
PCM not communicating with throttle body causes wrench light to come on and we loose control of the gas and slows the car abruptly.

The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that after receiving notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V237000 (POWER TRAIN), the dealer was contacted, and a mechanic was sent to the residence to perform a software update on the vehicle. After the software update was performed, the vehicle experienced hard shifting, and the gear became stuck in 5th gear and 3rd gear on occasion, with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who diagnosed that the transmission leadframe was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The failure mileage was 155,062.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving 50 MPH, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted and the powertrain warning light illuminated. The transmission was stuck between third and fifth gear. In addition, the transmission failed to shift from park to drive until the vehicle was turned off. The failure was a persistent failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and a portable scanner was attached; DTCs P0722 and P061A were retrieved. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V237000 (Power Train). The vehicle was not repaired under the recall. The contact was informed that the failure codes were not the required failure codes associated with the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 95,000.
I purchased a 2017 Ford F-150 on July 9th. It is covered under Safety Recall 26S28 (NHTSA Campaign 26V23700). On July 25th, the vehicle entered highway limp mode due to an Output Speed Sensor failure (Code P0722). A Ford dealership performed the 26S28 software flash but left the failing physical lead frame hardware in the vehicle. On August 15th, the truck reverted to a dangerous limp mode on the highway due to the same unaddressed P0722 hardware failure. Ford Corporate is refusing to authorize the physical hardware replacement under the safety recall framework, leaving the vehicle fundamentally unsafe to drive.
The transmission started skipping 4th gear a couple days later started randomly changing gears from 1st through 10th, and neutral while driving after reaching speed limits. While making a left hand turn it went into neutral and was almost hit broadside by an 18 wheeler with my grandson in the truck. There is a TSB and 3 class action lawsuits on this issue. My vehicle is a 2017 f150 with 50,365 miles which is EXTREMELY low miles for its age. I asked for goodwill assistance but was told no by the dealership and customer support. I called EXECUTIVE AFFAIRS twice and have yet received a call. I written a letter to Ford Consumer Affairs about my situation with contact information but have not received a response. A vehicle with this mileage should not be having a major issue regardless of its age. This is a life threatening safety issue that needs immediate attention. My vehicle is currently at the dealership having this 8600 dollar repair. Ford should be waving this charge or at least financial assistance with it but all I get is being told NO or IGNORED.

I scheduled an appointment for a recall on my truck. The appt was set for Monday. The dealership in Pensacola, FL picked up my vehicle and claims they do not have the ability to service the recall. However, prior to scheduling the appt, the truck was driven from Seguin, TX to Pensacola without any issues because we have a family emergency with my father in the hospital. Upon arriving in Pensacola, the issue that has the recall started so I immediately set the appt. The dealership has had my truck for 3 days and plans on holding it for an unknown amount of time as they do not know how to service the recall. The recall service would fix the issue my truck is experiencing, and I know the remedy does not take multiple days to perform. I need my truck back, but the dealership does not understand that I need to go back to Texas with my truck functioning properly. So, I just wanted to make a complaint about the dealership in Pensacola, FL having little to no knowledge about to perform the recall remedy and attempting to perform multiple services that will cost me money I do not have because I was not prepared to pay when the recall service should be free. Highly disappointed with them and the fact that I have no way to go back to Texas with my truck.
Ford Motor Company put out a recall on the PCM. I had the recall performed and it has caused more damage to my truck. It now has eratic shifting, stuck gears, and going into limpmode. Ford Forums show that this is an ongoing issue after the reset is performed creating an unsafe vehicle to drive. The check engine light is now on and was not prior to this recall reset.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that after taking the vehicle to be serviced under NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V237000 (Power Train); the vehicle started making a loud clunking sound while shifting from reverse or drive. The dealer was not made aware of the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 95,782.
While driving the trucks transmission gets stuck on a gear and then eventually shifts making the car jerk so hard that it cause some serious head banging. Scared to drive from horror stories of truck down shifting while on the highway. 10r80 problems.
My truck locks into a gear when driving, usually 3rd or 5th gear, but at times 1st or 6th gear. When I stop at an intersection it's difficult to start moving. At times it'll clear after driving awhile, but not always. Sometimes stopping and restarting the truck will help in the moment, but not always. This is a serious safety issue, especially when highway driving, or trying to start from a stop in traffic at an intersection. I took it to the dealer under the NHTSA Recall No.: 26V237. This didn't help the issue, and upon researching the issue I discovered that the Slead frame was the issue. so I took it back to the dealer and they did a diagnostic on it and said it was the Lead Frame, however, the proper code for that recall didn't appear so they would not replace the lead frame for me. The service manager advised me that he would submit it for the recall, however he has had three other vehicles in a week that were having the same issues, and Ford denied the repair. This is obviously not an isolated problem, and should be researched further and possibly a separate recall needs to be established for it.

The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 MPH around a bend, the rear wheels spun out, causing the contact to lose control of the vehicle. The front end and rear then struck the center median, and the vehicle stopped in the middle of the highway. The contact had not sustained any injuries. A Police report was not filed. The contact stated that there were unknown fluids leaking from the vehicle, possibly due to the crash. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.
The 10-speed transmission exhibits severe and dangerous shifting behaviors. It frequently shudders and jerks extremely hard when shifting between gears. Most critically, the transmission fails to properly engage into gear. While driving, I came to a complete stop at a red light in active traffic. When the light turned green and I attempted to accelerate, the transmission would not engage into gear, leaving the vehicle completely immobilized and just sitting there in the middle of traffic. Because the truck failed to take off and move forward, it created an immediate road hazard and almost caused me to be severely rear-ended by the traffic behind me.This transmission hesitation and failure to engage poses an immediate and severe safety risk of a high-speed collision.
While driving at highway speeds, with my family in the truck, the 10-speed automatic transmission suddenly and violently executed an uncommanded, unrequested downshift from 9th gear down to 2nd gear. This caused severe, abrupt vehicle deceleration and immediate safety hazard on a public roadway. I was fortunate that no other cars were near me and I was not turning at the time, otherwise it could have been catastrophic. No warning lights or fault codes appeared on the dashboard prior to or during the event. I immediately brought it to a reputable transmission shop which test drove it and stated that the CDF Drum bushing had likley shifted as it is a well known problem with this Model and Year and that it was dangerous to drive without replacing
I bought my f150 a year ago. now I’m experiencing timing issues, Vvt solenoid failure (all four) . Loss of power, limp mode, failure to shift etc … I’ve had several mechanics look at it .
While driving on the highway on several occasions, the transmission drops from 6th gear to a lower gear, either seeming to slip, or locking the wheels causing a bad jerk. i have an appointment in two days , but am concerned that there may be more damage to my vehicle that will show up later due to this issue. I had another dealership try to charge to to repair my truck. i am hopefull that the new dealership will do right by me.
My truck has shown wrench on dash multiple times, dropped gear several times suddenly. Less than 10 years old but over 150,000 miles so Ford has agreed to a fix under extended warranty program 26N04. Unfortunately they were allowed to add the phrase whichever comes first. This eliminates me from getting them to fix the cause which is the lead frame module. A PCM will not fix a bad part. This is a dangerous safety issue that should be fixed by Ford. Please save lives and get them to replace all lead frame modules if code finds it bad. It could affect anyone’s family member if an accident results.
To the Office of Defects Investigation:I am writing to formally report a critical data reporting error on NHTSA.gov involving a 2017 Ford F-150 (VIN: [XXX]).This vehicle is covered under NHTSA Campaign 26V370000 (Ford Recall 26S28) for the transmission downshift defect. I hold the physical manufacturer recall notification letter sent by Ford Motor Company confirming my truck's inclusion. The vehicle experienced the exact unexpected downshifting failure described in the campaign, resulting in a collision in [XXX]. However, when searching my VIN on both the Ford portal and the official NHTSA.gov VIN lookup tool, the database now erroneously reflects "0 Open Recalls."I request that the Office of Defects Investigation audit Ford's compliance reporting for this specific VIN. The manufacturer's database is generating false completion data, masking an active safety risk, and misrepresenting historical defect data to the public. I am having a hard time uploading my documents I will send via email. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Our 2017 Ford F150 Raptor is having issues with hard shifting. It does a clunking and jerking noise while changing into certain gears, 3rd and 4th. It sounds like the transmission is about to fall out. Ford has had to do a software diagnostic on it. It will work for a while then will hard shift again. It has been doing this on and off again since 2021. This issue is not remedy by a software update for it. We (my husband and family with us) have been driving on the interstate picking up speed to change lanes and it shift so hard it scares myself and my adult children. I am scared to drive it on the interstate because one day I am afraid it is going to do it so bad and cause us to have an accident! This is dangerous. It will even do it now at low speed in the city! I want to know why the F150's and the F150 Raptors have not been recalled for this! Even our Ford service advisor mention we may want to make a complaint to NHTSA.
Vehicle Safety Hazard & Recall Remedy Denial Recall: 26S28 / NHTSA Campaign 26V237 Summary of Issue: I am experiencing active, unsafe vehicle symptoms directly tied to Recall 26S28, including intermittent transmission signal loss, warning lights, and abrupt downshifts while driving. I initially contacted Ford in April/May 2026 immediately following the recall notice, but was informed no remedy or repair parts were available at that time, forcing me to operate a vehicle with a known driveability and safety hazard for three months. Now that the vehicle is at the dealership, Ford is refusing to perform the physical lead frame replacement under the recall/field action solely because the vehicle has not latched a permanent Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC), despite the technician confirming physical hardware failure. Safety Impact & Systemic Failure: 1. Defect Root Cause: The lead frame degradation is the primary root physical defect of Recall 26S28, not secondary damage. 2. Unreasonable Safety Risk: Forcing drivers to operate vehicles experiencing active downshifting and loss of drive power until a specific DTC latches poses an immediate highway crash hazard. 3. Inadequate Remedy Program: Ford’s requirement for a specific stored DTC creates an unreasonable barrier to recall execution, denying necessary hardware repairs to vehicles experiencing the exact safety failure described in the recall. Ford must be held accountable for providing a functional physical remedy for vehicles exhibi
I am reporting a vehicle safety failure and dealership diagnostic non-compliance regarding Safety Recall 26S28 (NHTSA Campaign 26V237000) on my 2017 Ford F-150. While accelerating, the vehicle suddenly lost its transmission output shaft speed sensor signal, dropping the truck into a dangerous, low-power fail-safe "Limp Mode" that locked the transmission into 3rd/5th gear. An advanced diagnostic scan prior to dealership service confirmed stored trouble codes P0722 (Output Shaft Speed Sensor) and P061A. I brought the vehicle to a certified Ford dealership for the safety recall remedy. The dealership applied a software update and dismissed my hardware failure complaint, stating no active codes were present. Because this is an intermittent electronic defect, it rarely throws a permanent dashboard light at idle in a service bay. The dealership appears to have only run a basic surface-level scan, failing to check the deeper Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (CMDTCs) or Permanent Code menus where intermittent transmission safety faults are archived. The dealership's failure to deeply investigate verified safety defect codes before clearing computer memory leaves consumers exposed to recurring power loss on active roadways. I am seeking a mandated dealer rescan of the deep-set modules or a formal tracking document of this failure to protect my warranty coverage when the hardware fails again.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that rainwater was leaking from the headliner and caused water damage to the front seats and carpet, and there was mold inside the headliner of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on several occasions, and the moon roof seals were replaced and the drainage tubes were installed, but the failure persisted. The vehicle was recently taken to a second dealer who diagnosed that the water was entering the vehicle from the rear of the ceiling. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The contact stated that the mold aggravated a previous health condition. No medical treatment was required. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 7,487.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 MPH, there was an abnormal whistling and dinging sound coming from the vehicle, and the powertrain malfunction warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle independently downshifted, and the rear driver’s side of the vehicle slid to the left, and the front passenger’s side of the vehicle crashed into another parked vehicle. The contact exited the vehicle and discovered that due to the impact, there was windshield fluid leaking out of the windshield washer fluid reservoir onto the ground, and the vehicle caught on fire. The contact entered a local AutoZone, retrieved a fire extinguisher, and extinguished the fire. The local fire department was contacted. The contact stated that no air bag was deployed. A police report was filed. A Fire Department report was not filed. The contact had a cut on the right arm, and the medical team in the ambulance patched up the arm; no further medical attention was needed. The vehicle was towed to the residence, where it was self-diagnosed that the steering and ball joint assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V237000 (Power Train); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. A dealer was contacted and stated that the remedy was not yet available and would not be available until July 26th. The contact stated that the manufacturer
The vehicle experienced intermittent transmission-related drivability issues before the recall remedy was available. The vehicle had delayed/hard shifting, an intermittent wrench warning light, and a reduced power/limp mode condition where the transmission would not shift normally. The vehicle was inspected by an authorized Ford dealer on multiple occasions, including diagnostic visits on 10/09/2023, 05/12/2025, and 02/09/2026. Ford later issued recall 26S28 involving the powertrain control module/transmission control system, and the recall remedy was performed. After the recall repair was completed, the original drivability concern continued, including sluggish shifting and delayed engagement between gears. As a second attempted repair related to the wrench warning light and transmission concern, the dealer identified the possibility of a faulty transmission lead frame and reviewed replacement under the applicable coverage. However, the dealer refused to replace the lead frame because the related fault code was not currently present during their inspection. The intermittent nature of the failure causes the code to clear after the vehicle is restarted, making it difficult to capture during a dealer visit. I provided photographic proof showing the wrench warning light was present after picking up the vehicle on the same day the recall repair was supposedly completed. Despite this evidence and the continued symptoms, the lead frame replacement was not performed. The vehicle has
My 6 speed transmition started shifting erratically. i took it to ford dealership and they did a pcm software download recall and it didnt help. the technition said he drove it and put on the wokorder. no codes stored issue not in leadframe. 1no codes stored to replace leadframe. transmition not shifting properly, most likely cause is internal clutch burnt. i asked what my next thing to do was and she said they would only change the transmition at my cost. this truck is shiftng in 5th and keeps shifting ranomly without showing on the gear panel. it does the same in 6th gear. between 4th and 5th it shifts real hard. all the symtoms of the lead frame recall and they said they wont touch it unless i put a new transmition in.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact received notification for NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V237000 (Power Train); however, the part to complete the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time to perform the recall repair. The contact stated that when attempting to make a left turn and depressing the accelerator pedal, the RPMs increased to the redline indicator, and the contact immediately released the accelerator pedal. The failure occurred twice, and the vehicle jerked while the accelerator pedal was depressed and proceeded forward. While driving at approximately 65 MPH, the vehicle failed to shift into sixth gear, and the failure became persistent. While driving at various speeds, the vehicle failed to shift into sixth gear and suddenly downshifted to third gear. The wrench warning light illuminated intermittently and became persistent. A local dealer was contacted and confirmed that the recall remedy was unavailable. An appointment was scheduled to inspect the vehicle, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 89,000.
The April 2026 recall for the 6R80 transmission (2015- 2017 F-150s) involves a software update to prevent unintended downshifts to first gear, which, if left unaddressed, can cause significant damage to the transmission and torque converter. The recall aims to prevent this damage, not cause it, though the underlying defect—if it causes violent, abrupt downshifts-can lead to transmission failure, including issues with the torque converter. The pcm tells the transmission what gear to shift into. The trs is what signals the pcm to tell the transmission what gear to shift into. I am saying all of this because I am have a bad downshifting problem almost like it’s causing the transmission to slip it has been doing this for months and I think it is causing more failure in my truck. It is getting worse and worse and this is my only reliable vehicle to get to work. I’ve called ford and they told me to keep driving but I don’t feel safe. They also quoted me for a new transmission saying the problem will occur again if I get one so I don’t get the point in doing that but I think it’s causing my transmission to go out and my torque converter to go out. I am out of ideas and don’t know what to do. I cannot afford a new transmission and it’s unfair to me that it’s their problem and I got quoted a new transmission. Also if I keep driving it and it messes up they are going to deny that that recall isn’t the problem I’m not sure what to do.
Ford Motor Company conducted the Recall that is referenced on 04/14/2026. It is now 07/07/2026 (almost 3 months later) and FORD still has not provided the fix for this recall. It is my understanding that this recall is a software issue; if so, why has FORD taken so long to provide the fix. The reason for my complaint at this time is that i was using my Ford F-150 on the TURO platform. TURO is a car sharing platform. The Ford was being rented on the TURO platform when the recall happened in April 2026. That individual that had the truck rented had to return the vehicle due to this safety recall. Also, on the day of the recall, TURO "delisted" the truck (which is required by law or by TURO's policy) and it can not be rented again until that safety recall is addressed. Also, i had another booking on the TURO platform that had to be cancelled because of this safety recall. Thus, this safety recall has not impacted me financially as well as other individuals that use their vehicles to produce an income to make a living. At this point, I rarely use the truck as well due to this safety recall. I believe that FORD should provide the remedy/corrective action for this safety issue sooner than later. To identity such an issue then to take this long to provide the fix (especially is this is a software issue), seems egregious. I would like some assistance in pressing FORD to provide this fix due to the safety issue itself and due to the financial loss that it has caused. I'm attaching a r
Failing transmission lead frame on a 2017 F-150 with a 6-speed transmission causing sudden, violent downshifts into low gears at highway speeds, risking severe rear-end crashes. On XXX, an authorized Ford dealership retrieved diagnostic trouble codes P0720 and P0722, confirming hardware component failure. The official dealership Repair Order explicitly states the transmission lead frame requires removal and replacement. This specific hardware failure is explicitly covered under Ford Recall 26S28 / NHTSA Campaign 26V237. Page 4 of the official Part 573 Safety Recall Report mandates that if a vehicle exhibits these specific codes prior to receiving the software update, dealers must replace the lead frame at no charge. The manufacturer and dealership are refusing to perform this mandatory safety remedy, citing 'Advanced Notice' status, leaving a verified unsafe vehicle on the road. Transmission failure/malfunction (known issue), Harsh/Delayed Shifts, downshifting erratically, loss of power on the highway. I stopped driving the truck after having random loss of power going 75 mph, to having no acceleration and almost getting rear-ended twice. I took the truck in to Holmes Tuttle Ford in Tucson, Arizona to get the TCM reflashed. They confirmed the harsh/delayed shifting and told me it got worse after the reflash, but they were not able to reproduce the random loss of power. Whenever I experienced the truck going into "limp mode" there was a wrench warning lamp turning on. This is a known defect on the 10R80 transmissions, yet there is no safety recall on it. The truck has 100,242 miles on it.
Vehicle is affected by the sudden transmission downshift recall (Recall 24V-473). The manufacturer states that the remedy is not yet available. The dealership refuses to provide a safe loaner vehicle, forcing me to drive a truck with a known, catastrophic risk of a highway wheel-lockup.

Lead Controller in the Transmission. Truck with faulty transvmission is at a local authorized Ford Dealership. Diagnostics show codes for the recall on transmission. First while driving on a local highway, at approximately 45 mph, the lights on the steering column that signal the gear began to flash and the truck downshifted. Again a second time while traveling on Interstate I-95, at 70 mph the lights on the steering column that signal which gear the transmission is in began flashing. The light on the dash that show 1-6 gears also began flashing. The truck downshifted and squealed the tires almost causing a rear-end collision from the car behind me. The lights on the dash and the check engine light lit up showing a wrench. I had to pull the truck over to the emergency lane. It was after this that I received the letter telling me of the recall and I took the truck to the Ford Dealership. It has been there for approximately 2 months. Ford has NOT issued instructions to stop driving under this safety recall; HOWEVER this is an extremely dangerous problem and it is NOT safe to operate. The safety recall is #26S28. NHTSA Recall is #26V237. Please have someone respond to me regarding this issue. There has been NO compensation of a rental , etc.

I am submitting this complaint regarding the failure of the 10R80 automatic transmission in my 2017 Ford F-150. My truck developed progressively worsening transmission problems that were ultimately diagnosed as a failed CDF drum, requiring a complete transmission replacement at a cost exceeding $9,000. Before the transmission failed, the vehicle exhibited harsh shifting, delayed gear engagement, slipping, erratic shifting between gears, and unpredictable transmission behavior. The transmission would hesitate during acceleration, shift unexpectedly, and fail to respond normally to throttle input. These issues created dangerous driving conditions while merging onto highways, crossing intersections, and driving in traffic because I could no longer predict how the vehicle would respond. The repair facility confirmed that the root cause of the failure was the CDF drum within the 10R80 transmission. After researching this issue, I discovered that many other Ford owners have experienced the same failure. Ford has issued Technical Service Bulletins addressing CDF drum-related problems and has revised the CDF drum design, indicating that the original component had a known defect. This is not simply a reliability issue. The unpredictable shifting and loss of normal transmission operation present a serious safety concern that could increase the risk of a crash. I respectfully request that NHTSA continue investigating the Ford 10R80 transmission and the known CDF drum defect to determine
Paint chipping on tailgate and roof.
Truck suddenly reported ABS issue while driving. Traction assist light came on. Parking brake light came on.steering assist failure message appeared. Now the power steering is not functioning. I know of 2 other people with near exact issues on a ford and a Lincoln. There is also a pending master cylinder recall that ford said the didn’t have parts for and still haven’t heard back from them on that. Please investigate this dangerous situation.
As of May 23, 2023 Ford issued a TSB 22-2428, TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 10R60/10R80/10R80 MHT Automatic Transmission - Harsh/Delayed Engagement And/Or Harsh/Delayed Shift - Built On Or Before 23-Dec-2022 " Ford issued a TSB and not a recall since they knew the affected vehicles would be out of warranty and they could then charge the owners pay for repair cost of $8,000- $12,000 for a new transmission replacement. Ford refuses to replace these transmission at their expense, if you are out of warranty, which I am and most are unless you have a extend warranty. How it is even legal that they aren't required by law to replace these transmission at the full expense of Ford since they clearly sold us vehicles with known defective transmission from the beginning and refused to address when the vehicles were under warranty. My safety concern is the transmission will fail in open traffic from these harsh engagement, harsh & delayed shifts. I made multiple remarks to the Ford service departments about harsh transmission problems, once around 30,000 miles and again around 60,000 miles. Ford never admitted identifying operation flaws during their evaluations. They stated transmission was operating within normal specifications.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
