My local Ford Dealer (Tallahassee Ford) which I had just purchased the vehicle from two weeks prior. Refused to repair NHTSA Recall Number26V237 they wanted to charge me over 2000 dollars to fix even though it has a recall. I ended up getting the lead frame replaced at a local transmission shop for little over 1000 dollars. I would like to be reimbursed for the money and time I spent.

I have a 2015 F-150. Early January 2026 I was traveling about 60 mph when my back wheels locked up, while the vehicle was skidding i swiped a guardrail but was able to pull the steering away as to not cause more damage. The damage is minor mostly cosmetic, and the truck was still running and drivable, without knowing the cause I just resumed. Then in March 2026 going about 60mph the transmission downshifted to 2nd gear, the RPM's went from 1,500 to 6,000 in an instant. There was a transmission warning light and the engine would not accelerate. I pulled over shut the truck off and restarted. It was fine after that. Then I received a letter telling me about this recall. Looking it up today on Ford's website it says Campaign 26S28/26V237 there is a recall with a solution for my VIN. However is there a way to be compensated for the cosmetic damage to the side of the truck considering this could have been a much more deadlier situation? Is this even worth pursuing the cosmetic damage, that and the wheel realignment cost.

I was driving on the highway at 70mph when the truck started jerking and downshifting from 6th gear to 1st gear erratically. I pulled off the highway and the gears continued shifting all over the place and then the wrench light see manual warning came on and the truck stopped completely. I had it towed to the dealership who said they would complete the fix for the recall but that the transmission cooler line also needed fixed which would cost $1226.00. They said I probably ran over something, which I did not. I believe the sudden and violent downshifting which is the recall caused this to break and should be included. This was a terrifying situation where I was almost in a car accident. The truck is not drivable and I have also had to pay for two tows now because this is also not covered in the recall.

A very weird chirping noise; really bad when I start truck then it calms down but I can hear it while driving. I took it to my auto mechanic shop & they said both exhaust manifolds are warped & need replacing. I bought this truck January of 2020 & I’ve spent a small fortune on it. I owned a Chevrolet Silverado for 14 years & never had issues like this truck has had. After researching info it appears this is an ongoing issue with these trucks. Ford should be responsible!!

The truck exhibited the abrupt downshifting upon driving out of the parking lot, this caused great stress and possible accidents to me and family. The transmission continued to get worse and we were in fear of our lives to drive the vehicle on the highway. Once we got the vehicle home it literally would not shift into gear and has been disabled since the first week in XXX. We are plumbing and heat contractors and have lost a great deal of business due to not having a truck/this truck to use for work. We had it towed to Greico Ford in [XXX] on advice from Keith, the Service Mgr. We know the recall is due in XXX. This dealership is now trying to tell us that all the hoses are damaged and wants to charge us $2,000 to repair the hoses. We obviously don't want to do this since we believe the violent jarring and downshifting of the transmission caused by this MFG defect probably caused this and a lot more other problems. MFG Recall #26S28, NHTSA Recall# 26V237. I need to know when this recall remedy will be submitted and what are my rights to get this fixed? Component or system that failed: The backup camera system failed and is completely inoperable. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Safety risk: The failure of the backup camera creates a safety hazard when reversing the vehicle. Without the camera providing visibility behind the truck, there is an increased risk of striking a pedestrian, another vehicle, or an object that may not be visible using mirrors alone. Confirmation of the problem: Yes. An authorized Ford dealership diagnosed the failure and charged me for the inspection. The dealer informed me that my vehicle is not covered under Ford's existing backup camera recall. Inspection by others: The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or an insurance representative. The dealership did not provide information or assistance regarding how to have the issue reviewed by Ford or pursue any further action. Warning lamps or prior symptoms: There were no warning lights, messages, or other indications that the backup camera was beginning to fail. The failure occurred without warning. The problem first occurred in 2025.

On Thursday, XXX, at approximately 5:10 AM, I was driving my Ford F-150 XLT (VIN: [XXX]) eastbound on [XXX]. While exiting the elevated bridge at the intersection of [XXX] and [XXX] at 55 mph (6th gear), the vehicle experienced a sudden, uncommanded transmission downshift directly from 6th to 1st gear. This caused immediate extreme deceleration, engine over-speed, and locked the rear tires, causing tire slippage and an absolute loss of traction control on a high-speed highway. This severe event put my life and my wife's life in imminent danger of catastrophic injury. After safely pulling over, the Malfunction Indicator Light (Check Engine) and the Powertrain Fault Warning Light (wrench icon) illuminated. The electronic cluster froze and failed to display the gear position. Drive (D) mode was completely unresponsive. I managed to vacate the active roadway using Manual (M) mode. While driving in 4th gear in manual mode under extreme caution, a second violent, unintended downshift to 1st gear unexpectedly occurred, confirming the persistent, dangerous nature of this failure. Consequential mechanical damage includes severe transmission clunking noises during gear engagement and a constant internal metallic knocking sound from the engine block caused by the forced over-speed. This failure perfectly matches the technical failure mode described in NHTSA Safety Recall Campaign 26V237 (OSS to PCM signal loss). On XXX, at 11:10 AM, I personally visited Arceneaux Ford Inc. Pulling into traffic the truck suddenly shifts from fifth gear to second causing the vehicle to suddenly slow which makes getting slammed in the rear by another vehicle highly likely. At high speeds on the highway it becomes dangerous to change lanes and expect the truck to maintain speed. This problem is occurring frequently now so an accident is likely to occur. I want a loaner until Ford fins and makes the fix available.

The vehicle has a documented, active transmission failure code P0720 relating to Recall 26S28 (NHTSA Campaign 26V237). Per pages 3 and 4 of Ford's official Part 573 Safety Recall Report, dealers are explicitly required to bypass the software wait and replace the physical lead frame hardware if a vehicle exhibits this code prior to the software's release. The local franchise dealership (McCombs Ford West in San Antonio, TX) and Ford Corporate Customer Relations are both actively refusing to honor this hardware safety remedy directive, forcing the vehicle to be grounded on the dealer lot due to the severe risk of high-speed rear-wheel lockup, while denying mandated alternative transportation support. Furthermore, the dealership has failed to execute the safety remedy for open Brake Master Cylinder Recall 20S31 (NHTSA Campaign 20V332000), which presents an immediate risk of a sudden loss of braking pressure.

Hooked up my trailer after coming home from a trip to take it to a dump station to empty the tanks. Ford OEM Trailer Brake Control Module locked the brakes on my trailer immediately and then short circuited itself, emitting a burnt electrical smell through out the vehicle, then suddenly released the brakes and would not function via the brake petal or manually engaging the lever. There were no previous indications that an issue was happening. After removing I found that a single chip had bubbled and melted itself. Had this happened while the trailer was in significant motion, such as towing down a canyon, could have resulted in catastrophic loss.

I was able to disconnect the battery and let the throttle body reset. I reconnected the battery, it started and drove without problems. I connected a loaded horse trailer, drove approximately 12 miles and it happened again, this time on a two lane road with a soft , uneven shoulder going from 60 miles per hour to 8 miles per hour very quickly. I was able to turn on my hazard lights and pull onto the grass, but only about 5 inches off the 60 mph road. After 10 minutes, I heard the throttle body click, it started up and I drove another 15 miles when it happened again. This time at a temporary stoplight with no shoulder. The vehicle lost power rolling from a stop sign, felt like it was trying to shift but wouldn’t then went into limp mode, drove fine the next day. The faulty lead frame is failing, it has no other cause. I refuse to drive and put myself and others in danger to prove it. The dealer said they couldn’t cover it because the code is not covered in the recall, they recommended a new valve body or transmission, they didn't even say why. They were able to recreate it wrench light. P2704 is the code they claimed with the 2 leading causes are valve body, they said my fluid was clean and the vehicle has up to date service with no previous sign of wear, or the lead frame going out, the ACTIVELY recalled part. I tried contacting ford directly and they refused assistance beyond “tow it to a different dealer” and then ended the conversation. It is a safety issue that I will not wait to have break if there is clear signs of it happening.

My truck experienced a sudden downshift and loss of power, it threw a p2704 at the dealership but I don’t trust this dealership as they quoted me for a new transmission shortly after that, I tried calling the ford service line and they did not pickup, I went to their contact and they said to tow it to a different dealership for a second opinion, it is a severe safety risk and it is certainly the failing lead frame based on the trucks condition and service record, the service advisor online then ended the chat with me after I asked for a supervisor. I am not going to harm myself or others waiting for my truck to prove it has a critical failure waiting. I have a clear service record up to date with nothing that would point at a valve body, the next thing in row that would throw that code, and I refuse to pay out of pocket for something caused by the broken recalled part. I can either continue to drive it till it fails or have it replaced now.

I was driving on the highway when the truck shifted and caused the brakes to lock up. Luckily it was pretty late and there weren't very many cars on the road. I was stuck in the driving lane until I turned the truck off and turned it back on. It seemed to drive fine after that so I thought maybe I hit something. I took it to a mechanic the next day and they were unable to recreate the issue or find a code to do anything about it. I ended up replacing other parts trying to figure out what caused it and was completely unaware until I got a notice of a recall for this same issue.

I received a safety recall notice 26S28/NHTSA Recall 26V237 On the same day that this occurred in my truck. Luckily for me, I was within 2 miles of home, the only way I could get home was to drive in first gear up the mountain road to get there. My truck is not drivable. If this happens on a freeway, I most likely would be rear ended as the vehicle stops suddenly. What recourse do I have from Ford motor company since I can’t drive the truck that they sold me? The recall notice says a fix won’t be ready until July, and that is a long time from now. I need a vehicle to drive. I feel like not having this remedy ready yet means that it’s not ready in a timely manner.

The transmission downshifted at about 65-70 mph and after it stopped it wouldn't start or move. towed to Beach Ford and was quote $1700+ to fix.. Was told pan was pulled and they said "large chunks of metal were found". {Not surprising after downshifting at 65+mph...} Than I was quoted $7500+ for an Jasper aftermarket rebuild transition and i would suppose it still has the potential for lockup, especially if ford cant fix the problem until mid July!!! I think lives are at risk, the downshift is a very violent experience and total loss of control is very possible especially in wet or snowy conditions... I'm open to suggestions for additional contact information IE: Sen or congressmen ...Thank You

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
