Defect. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2022-2026 F-150 Lightning BEV, 2024-2026 Mustang Mach-E, and 2025-2026 Maverick vehicles. The integrated park module may fail to lock into the park position when the driver shifts into park. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 114, "Theft Protection and Rollaway Prevention."

Risk. A loss of park function can allow the vehicle to rollaway, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. The park module software will be updated over-the-air (OTA) or by a dealer, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 3, 2026. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25C69. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning January 26, 2026.

While driving at speed on public roads on [XXX], the primary 12-inch digital instrument cluster suffered a total blackout while the vehicle was powered and moving. The failure eliminated all speedometer readings, battery state-of-charge indicators, gear selections, and safety telltales/warning lights in violation of FMVSS 101. When previously reporting intermittent digital screen and electrical dropouts, Ford and dealership service personnel claimed this behavior is 'normal operation' and have failed to correct the underlying electrical/gateway defect across multiple service visits. The vehicle cannot be operated safely without an operational speedometer and warning cluster. The factory Pedestrian Alert System on my 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning produces an exterior warning sound at low speeds that is insufficiently audible to pedestrians in normal parking-lot conditions. On multiple occasions pedestrians have walked directly into my vehicle’s path without apparently hearing my approaching vehicle, requiring me to brake abruptly to avoid hitting them. I’m each instance, my vehicle is operating at very low speeds where the electric drivetrain produces little conventional vehicle noise. I am concerned that the factory pedestrian warning sound is inadequate to accomplish its intended safety function under FMVSS 141. I have not modified or disabled the pedestrian warning system. I believe GM had similar issues with the Chevy Equinox which was remedied via a recall. I am very concerned because several Ford F-150 Lightning owners have noticed this issue. I previously brought mine into the dealer, but they did not have a remedy for it. I am concerned because this is a 6600 pound pick up truck that seems to be in stealth mode at low speeds, which in my opinion is a recipe for tragedy.

We were driving down the road, hit a normal bump outside our neighborhood (one we go over all the time) and the rear window glass went bang. Looking through the rear view mirror, I saw that the entire window was cracked (like a spider web). The window remained intact the redt of the drive home. When we arrived home, we got out of the car, and closed the doors, which caused the window to blow out all over the driveway and tonneau cover. There was no physical damage before hand. Ford is refusing to cover this issue under warranty, even though it was a non-impact glass break, caused either by either the vehicle body twisting just enough or thermal resistance issue with the defroster (it was not on at the time).

Following a software update by Ford in the past 6-8 months, upon start-up my vehicle asks me which drive mode I wish to be in but then after 15-45 seconds "forgets" my answer and changes drive modes. This results in regenerative braking being disabled, at random, in the middle of a drive. This is a major safety issue, as I will expect braking to applying while easing up on the accelerator but that simply doesn't happen. This could cause an accident, injury or worse.

Vehicle: 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning Flash — 17,240 miles ▎ Current software version: itrm-25.B04 ▎ ▎ Following an over-the-air software update in November 2025, my truck will not stay in the drive mode I select. At every startup the vehicle prompts me to confirm Sport mode and I select Yes. The truck then reverts to Normal mode on its own, without my input. ▎ ▎ This happens every single time I drive the truck. I drive it at least three times a week and it has occurred on every trip since the update. The timing is unpredictable — sometimes immediately after Android Auto connects, sometimes at the end of my driveway, sometimes at the end of my road, sometimes several minutes into the drive. The randomness is part of the hazard: I cannot anticipate when the vehicle's braking behavior will change. ▎ ▎ There is no warning of any kind when the mode changes — no chime, no message, no alert. The only indications are that the small "S" disappears from the instrument cluster and the truck's driving characteristics change. The most safety-critical difference is regenerative braking: lifting off the accelerator produces substantially less deceleration in Normal mode than in Sport. I drive to the braking behavior I selected, and the truck silently takes it away from me. ▎ ▎ I have had two close calls as a direct result: ▎ ▎ 1. A vehicle ahead of me made a late right turn onto a side road. I lifted off the accelerator expecting Sport-mode regenerative braking to slow me. The truck had silen

Ford provides various driving modes for this truck, by their own description this setting changes the responsiveness of the steering, acceleration, and regenerative braking. This mode defaults to "Normal" at startup, with a short on-screen prompt to return to the previous mode. While this is incredibly frustrating, on its own probably doesn't rise to the level of a reportable issue. However sometime in November the truck received an OTA update that has introduced a bug that causes the truck to make an uncommanded return to the Normal drive mode. Regardless of how the truck is put into Sport or another mode (either the "return to mode" prompt, or going into the vehicle menu and selecting another mode) after a few minutes of driving the truck will return to Normal mode. This causes a change in steering responsiveness, and since I usually drive in Sport mode, also reduced the regenerative braking, meaning letting off the accelerator doesn't slow the truck as much as expected. A for representative mentioned on the FordLighting forums that Ford engineers were aware of the problem and looking for a solution back in January, but we haven't seen anything more from them since.

I was the only person in the truck and there was no one nearby. I was slowly backing the Ford 150 Lighting into my driveway, going straight back. I was going slow because another car was parked at the back end corner. As I was rolling slowly back, the truck started to accelerate on its own, I had not increased pressure on the pedal. The truck was not making any beeping noises or alerts on the screen indicating that there was another car parked behind it. NO safety alerts at all. The truck was completely out of my control other than my ability to turn the steering wheel. I had lifted my foot off the gas pedal entirely at one point to make sure it was not me pressing it and the car kept moving faster without my foot. I tried to steer the truck straight back but upon realizing it would not stop and was only getting faster, I veered the steering wheel to avoid hitting our other small car and turned the truck which backed up directly into the south west corner of our house. The house is what stopped the truck. Upon impact with the house- NO airbags inflated. The truck touchscreen temporarily shined red and audibly said that it would “call 911” and no call was ever made. After this, and after I had gotten out of the truck, I realized that the entire truck shut down mechanically. The turn on button did nothing, the key did nothing, the gears would not shift - it was in a locked position. The driver's seat that I was in- got dislodged and crooked by the force of the truck to the hous

I was driving by and received multiple warnings about brakes. Brake assist, one pedal driving, reverse brake assist, general brake warning. After the came on the brake were spongy with a hard brake after applying more pressure to the pedal. I needed to apply more pressure because the car was not stopping. I almost hit various cars on the way home because there is certainly an adjustment needed to my braking habits. Very dangerous and unsafe. I took the truck to the dealership and quoted me around $2,500. This is something I have no control over and see that there is a recall on this issue for a 2025 model, but my vehicle does not fall under this recall.

While driving on a surface road in Columbia, MD at approximately 40 mph, the dash display of the 2024 Ford Lightning Flash went completely blank, leaving no indication of vehicle speed, battery percentage, battery temp, motor temp, cruise control status etc. Zero information was displayed, and the dash was completely cold and dark. This failure, while traveling at speed, represents a gross safety hazard, especially because the same LCD displays automatic emergency braking informaion etc. Immediately, I was able to pull over, and establish an OBD-2 connection to the ECM, and pull error logs. I also took screenshots of critical components and voltages. I cleared the codes, re-checked for codes and saved another error log showing a couple of codes. I then cycled power to the truck several times, hoping for a reboot to clear the error. I also performed a manual reset of the Ford SYNC system. Using the OBD-2 virtual dash on my reader, I was able to safely display speed and battery data, and drive immediately to the nearest Ford Dealer (Koons Ford). On the way, I phoned Crossroads Ford (Apex, NC) who did a remote error check using the vehicle's modem. The dealer may have saved this data. Upon arrival to Koons, service writers and technicians were able to witness and verify inoperability of the dash unit, and cycle the vehicle power, whereafter the problem persisted. They then took it back for service and evaluation. After approximately 4 hours, I was told that the "dash reset itsel

I was making a road trip in my 2024 F150 Lightning Lariat. I pulled up to a Tesla supercharger. I turned the car off and attempted to plug in but the cable was about three inches too short. So I got back in the truck, turned it back on and put it in gear for the last three inches of travel. The truck accelerated dramatically. It clipped two charging stations, hopped a curb and went into a field, headed for a major lane of traffic. I rode the brake as hard as I could and it continued to accelerate. I threw it in neutral and finally got control of it, just short of the road. I turned the vehicle off and back on and drove out of the field, the truck behaving normally. I finished the trip and returned home without incident. In reviewing the experience in my mind, I can't make mistaking the accelerator for the brake pedal make sense. You can't turn the vehicle on without pressing the brake pedal. You can't put it in gear without pressing the break pedal. And the fact that it continued to accelerate after hitting the charger doesn't sound like a pedal mistake. I have never found the human factors of the F150 to be challenging - it is very straight forward to drive. I also don't think I could have accidentally hit the cruise control. You can't accidentally engage the cruise control from a standing stop. I do always use one-pedal driving.

Hi There, i wanted to report a situation with my Ford F150 Lightning I brought this monster truck last December'24 and everything worked until today when i hit a issue with the break Me and my wife went to Costco for weekend Shopping, i was trying to park to a very comfortable parking position; after getting in, I reversed the car to make it align with the parking line. Right after that i changed the position to drive slowly role it forward to adjust my parking, the truck started accelerating forward. I pressed the break hard and hard it would not stop. Imagine its Costco, lot of people around me, luckily it was trees and mulch area Infront, and Imagine its Costco, lot of people around me, luckily it was trees and mulch area Infront, and there was a traffic board. The Truck hit the traffic pole and stopped hanging over the mulch area. Everyone around me was screaming and looking at me. Through traffic stopped and took diversion, i pulled back slowly, guess what, the car would not come back to the parking lot again. I press the reverse and accelerate to get back to the parking space, but car is still going forward, scary. I stopped the engine and again tried to reverse; it worked. I swear to God that i never hit the acceleration since it's a parking spot, why would i do that... Car still went forward, so it's a genuine bug in the Ford 150 which needs to be fixed, otherwise its going to hurt or kill people I still have loan to pay for this car, but after todays incident i will

Gear Shifter stuck in D with amber light blinking constantly. At the same time, the Amber Wrench symbol appeared on the dash, with "Service vehicle soon" warning message. This indicates a Powertrain malfunction/Reduced Power issue. Vehicle towed to nearest Ford dealer (Scenic Ford, Mount Airy, NC) with about 225 miles on odometer. I purchased this new '24 Lightning Lariat [XXX] online, and picked it up at Sheehy Ford in Gaithersburg, MD [XXX], with 47 miles on odometer. The above issues occurred [XXX] as I was driving the vehicle home from Maryland to my home in Georgia. These problems occurred the same day I drove the new vehicle off the dealer lot. Additionally, the Gear Shifter has never folded down as its meant to fold down, enabling a flat work surface between the two front seats. This situation was present at Sheehy Ford when I picked it up brand new on [XXX]. I have an appointment at my local dealer, Akins Ford, Winder, GA, May 14, 2025 at 10am to have these issues assessed. No unusual pattern of severe incidents in the complaint record.

Complaint counts track how many cars were sold and how long they have been on the road as much as they track quality. A common model from 2013 has had a decade to accumulate reports; a rare one from last year has not. The signal worth weighing is in the severity columns, in whether the same component keeps appearing, and in whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.

Recall repairs are free for as long as the recall stands. Check whether a specific car still has open work at NHTSA's VIN lookup.
