Part 573 reports
Seat Belts › Front › Warning Light/Devices25V489000
Filed Jul 25, 202556,473 vehiclesFord Motor Company

Defect. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2025 F-150 hybrid vehicles equipped with a 3.5L hybrid electric powertrain. When the driver or passenger's seat belt is not buckled and the vehicle is started, the audible warning chime may not activate as intended. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."

Risk. An audible warning chime that fails to alert occupants of an unbelted seat belt can increase the risk of injury during a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will update the audio control module software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 15, 2025. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25C31.

Vehicle: 2025 Ford F-150 (VIN and mileage available upon request) Component: Rearview/backup camera display, Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM) / SYNC infotainment system (Sync 4 version 25211 revision 1966-same CCPU ver./VMCU version:6.1.42.2) Summary of Problem: The rearview camera display intermittently shows a distorted, glitched, or corrupted image when the vehicle is shifted into Reverse. The fault is not consistent or reproducible on demand, it occurs unpredictably across different drive cycles, which makes it difficult to document with video or photo evidence at the time it occurs. When the fault is present, the driver does not have a reliable rear-view image, reducing visibility and situational awareness while backing up. I checked my VIN against Ford's and NHTSA's recall databases and found no open recall covering this specific vehicle for this issue. However, Ford has issued multiple prior recalls (including NHTSA 25V315 / Ford 25S49) for related APIM software defects causing rear camera freezing, blanking, or display corruption on other model years and vehicle lines. This suggests the underlying APIM/software issue may not be fully resolved across all affected builds, including 2025 model year trucks not currently covered. Safety Concern: Because the failure is intermittent and unpredictable, the driver cannot anticipate when the rear camera will be unreliable, which itself is a safety hazard distinct from a consistent failure that could at least be planne

Vehicle demonstrates an intermittent lag during acceleration, particularly during throttle position changes. Typical throttle response is appx 0.5s as measured by stopwatch. When the issue is replicated the delay can exceed 1 second. This is most concerning during situations where moderate to brisk acceleration is needed at a specific time such as turning across traffic at an intersection or merging with traffic flow with a large speed disparity from one lane to the other. Vehicle has been taken to multiple Ford dealerships multiple times. The ECU and TCU have been reprogrammed and the situation does not change. Dealership has noted an issue one time but otherwise claims that they have not been able to show the issue to be out of allowable parameters by Ford. Numerous forum posts online discuss the same symptoms and comment similar findings by Ford dealership techs. What they can readily replicate is understood but considered "normal". This behavior has created 2 different situations that nearly culminated in severe accidents with myself driving the vehicle, one time with my child in the seat exposed to oncoming traffic when the accelerator lag caused a severe situation. The first severe situation was crossing traffic outside of my child's school with oncoming traffic having to slam on brakes in order to avoid the collision. The second situation happened while merging lanes on a highway going from ~45mph up to ~60mph and almost caused the neighboring lane to rear end the vehi

**2025 Ford F-150 – Repeated Wiring Harness Damage** I am reporting two separate incidents involving a 2025 Ford F-150 that resulted in significant damage to vehicle wiring harnesses and required replacement of major wiring components. On March 4, 2026, the vehicle sustained wiring damage during a dog-related incident. The vehicle was inspected by a Ford dealership, which determined that a major rear wiring harness required replacement. The repair cost approximately $2,054. The affected wiring was associated with the rear-axle/rear electrical system. In August 2026, a second, separate dog-related incident again resulted in extensive wiring damage. Ford ordered multiple wiring components to repair the vehicle, including RL3Z-13A409-F, RL3Z-14A411-B, TL3Z-13A576-AFA, and TL3Z-15K857-A. These components include major wiring assemblies and wiring associated with the ABS/wheel-speed sensing system. My concern is not simply the damage caused by the incidents, but the apparent vulnerability and accessibility of critical wiring on the vehicle. Two separate incidents within approximately five months resulted in substantial wiring damage and replacement of multiple harnesses and electrical components. Damage to wiring associated with braking, ABS/wheel-speed sensing, lighting, or other vehicle systems could potentially cause loss or malfunction of safety-related functions. I am requesting that NHTSA document and review these incidents to determine whether the routing, shielding, protec

I want to include an important detail about the accident involving my 2025 Ford F-150 (VIN: [XXX] ). Immediately before the collision, I experienced a sudden change in braking. The brake pedal became very hard, and the vehicle did not slow as expected even with increased pressure on the pedal. This condition lasted for a few seconds and significantly reduced my ability to stop. The auto braking feature also did not activate. There were no clear warning indicators at the time, and the event happened very quickly. Based on how the vehicle responded, it felt like a loss of brake assist. My vehicle collided with a semi truck, totalling the front end. I was very lucky to walk away alive. Thankfully airbags and my seat belt saved me. I am reporting this as part of the incident record in case it is relevant to the cause of the accident. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

New 2025 F150 Lariat with 3.5L V-6 Twin-Turbo Full Hybrid. Truck was sitting in garage and off when suddenly a message appeared on the digital speedometer area saying there was a powertrain fault. Truck only had 280 miles. At about 310 miles, service light came on indicating service was due. Checked FordPass app and the on board diagnostic program indicated there was a power train fault detected. I’ve checked several online forums and many owners are reporting that there are known Ford Technical Service Bulletins (TSB) regarding this issue and the issue has to due with faulty starter, alternator, and battery. Ford know about this issue and that it is common yet they have failed to issue a recall to fix all of these.

While driving roughly 30-40mph, there was complete loss of brakes. complete soft pedal to the floor with no brake function. ABS and Brake lights flash on dash board, parking brake malfunction warning. No prior warnings, issues, messages indicating need for brake service. My wife and kids were in the car and were lucky to be on a street where we were able to coast to a stop. Any busy street or highway driving could have been sever accident/potential loss of life incident. The dealer said they have never seen this issue before and said they went through a bunch of control modules and simply reset and made software updates. I never received a confirmed "root cause". Dealer made above mentioned software updates and drove the car for 50 miles, claim the issue/service is complete and we need to take the car. No root cause, no confirmed component failure, etc. We do not feel safe taking delivery of the car. We have requested a Ford field service technician/engineer inspect the vehicle with no luck. we have started buy back/replacement process with Ford, no decision made - tells us we are subject to lemon law as if this is a "creature comfort" issue and that we need to take the car back.

While driving, a vehicle began stopping in front of me. I attempted to stop, however my braking power seemed heavily reduced. Eventually the emergency automatic braking kicked in and engaged my emergency brake. I barely stopped in time. Simultaneously, several warning lights appeared on my dash including ABS, traction control, hill assist, and check engine. Immediately after the incident, my brake pedal felt loose. Braking power was severely diminished and delayed. Stopping while going a mere 5 mph would take about 10 yards. It was extremely dangerous and scary to operate - even to pull into the nearest safe parking lot. Upon restarting my vehicle twice, the lights went off except for the check engine light and my braking power returned.

I leased this vehicle as new a couple of months ago. The rear view camera was not working. The dealership in West Branch Michigan assured me that they would fix it. Subsequent visits and followup with dealership have been unsuccessful in the fix. During this time I almost ran over my grand daughter when backing up with no rear view camera. Very dangerous. Also any components relying on the rear view camera are also disabled. I beleive Ford has a concern in fixing this problem. It could result in a serious accident with pedistrian.

Vehicle experienced a flat tire on the side of a busy highway. The factory installed wheel rim was impossble to remove from the hub because it was corroded to the hub. Teo people had to stand in the traffic lane on an interstate highway to use mechanical leverage to remove the wheel. This vehicle is only 2 months old.

I would like to discuss a failure and concern with my new 2025 Ford F150. The Failure: While driving down the highway with Blue Cruise engaged and in control, the truck quickly veered off to the right. I immediately grabbed the steering wheel to correct the direction of the truck to avoid being driven off the road by the system. Based on the photo (attached) I have attached, it appears the Blue Cruise system possibly became confused with these lines in the road. Had I not corrected the vehicle, the truck quite possibly could have continued veering to the right, causing a catastrophic vehicle crash. I have attached a photo for your viewing. The Concern: The second issue relates to the F150s transmission. Like my 2021 F150, the 2025 F150 continues to exhibit the same concern with the transmission shifting hard (with a thud) from Park to Drive and similarly when stopped at a light to engaging the gas pedal. This leaves me to believe there will be transmission failure at some point due to the hard jerks. What is going on Ford??

Brakes failed on my 2025 F150 and several ABS and brake system alarms came in. The problem went away on its own. I took the truck to my dealer and was told Ford is aware of the problem and does not have a fix. No other advice was given.

Steering
Filed May 9, 2025FL

The first indication of a problem was a red "SERVICE CHARGING SYSTEM NOW" message at 121 total vehicle miles and continued to be intermittent. The vehicle was returned to the selling Ford dealership the next day. After a day in the service department, they were unable to duplicate the problem. This same message reappeared sporadically, but did not seem to affect the safe operation of the vehicle. At approximately 1460 miles the red "SERVICE CHARGING SYSTEM NOW" and many other messages appeared while I was on an interstate traveling at 70mph. As I started maneuvering for the nearest exit, the steering would not respond without using EXCESSIVE force, creating a dangerous, unsafe situation. I managed to safely exit the highway and park the vehicle. It would not reset or operate normally. The vehicle was subsequently towed to a Ford dealer. After 3 weeks of troubleshooting, they replaced the main AGM 12V battery (Part Number BAGM 94RH7 800) and the DCDC Converter (Part Number ML3Z 14G649 F). These components may be available from Astro Ford in Biloxi, MS for inspection.

Reading this record

No unusual pattern of severe incidents in the complaint record.

Complaint counts track how many cars were sold and how long they have been on the road as much as they track quality. A common model from 2013 has had a decade to accumulate reports; a rare one from last year has not. The signal worth weighing is in the severity columns, in whether the same component keeps appearing, and in whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.

Recall repairs are free for as long as the recall stands. Check whether a specific car still has open work at NHTSA's VIN lookup.
