Ford Motor Company: Wheels › Lugs/Nuts/Bolts/Studs

Ford Motor Company reported this defect to federal regulators on Nov 9, 2023 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 13. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2022-2023 Ford Super Duty F-350, F-450, F-550, and F-600 vehicles. The fasteners for the front wheel hub extender may be insufficiently tightened, which can result in the wheel and wheel extender detaching from the vehicle.

The risk

Wheel detachment can result in a loss of vehicle control and create a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Owners are advised not to drive their vehicle until the repair has been performed. Dealers will inspect the front wheel hub extender retaining nuts. If the retaining nuts are loose, dealers will replace the wheel hub extender, retaining nuts, and hub assembly. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 7, 2023. Owners may contact Ford customer service at -866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 23S59.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 23V758000.
