My vehicle is under an active recall C4B/NHTSA 24V-896. This recall was issued on Nov 27, 2024. According to the manufacturer there is no repair part available as of today Mar9, 2026. That is completely unacceptable. My ABS system has been compromised for 2 years now. I have been driving with an ABS system that has failed and poses a great risk. Since this recall was issued 15 months have gone by. I find it implausible that the manufacturer has not been able to engineer a remedy for this. They are leaving a huge risk on the road. They should not be allowed to let this much time elapse. If they can not come up with a repair then they should be replacing my vehicle. I would like to know what the NHTSA is doing about this situation.

I received a recall notice (C4B/NHTSA 24V-896) and since the parts weren't available at the time, registered at recalls.mopar.com on 4/1/2025 for notification once the parts become available. It's now almost a year later and I still haven't received a notification about the parts being available. I've also contacted my dealer several times to check with them as well, but they say the parts still aren't available yet. The back of the recall notification mentions submitting a complaint if the dealer fails or is unable to remedy this defect within a reasonable time, so I think this fits that definition and I'm submitting this complaint.

The brake system malfunctioned. After applying the brakes, instead of slowly stopping, the truck began to slide. The truck has a factory recall that RAM doesn't have a fix for. Our truck has a light that says our ABS needs servicing. This has been on for several months. We took it to the dealer but they said they can't fix it because RAM doesn't have a fix for it. This is truly unacceptable. Next time it could cause an accident. The traction control light also comes on and goes off.

Manufacturer is claiming to have "No Remedy" for this recall (C4B). However, they were able to replace the defective part, charged me for the repair and offered a reimbursement. However, they are not offering to reimburse the full cost of the repair. It has come to my knowledge that Ram does have a remedy, as they have reengineered the HCU part affected by this recall and issued a new part number for the updated parts. Original part was 68143491AA and has since been updated to 68143491AB after this recall was issued. It appears that Ram is lying to consumers about having "No Remedy" when they do in fact have one. I am assuming they do not want fix these vehicles unless the original part fails as a cost savings on this recall. The issue is they are refusing to cover the entire cost of the recall repair when the vehicle did need to be fixed. I was charged $1185.56 for this repair in February of 2026 and Ram is only offering $1141.85 as the reimbursement amount. This recall should have been covered at zero charge and without requiring me to pay upfront for the repair, as it is evident by updated part numbers that Ram does in fact have a remedy.

HCU Hydraulic Control Unit ABS malfunction. Intermittent loss of ABS/ESC/Traction control. Constant warning lights flashing on and off on screen display in truck with audible alarm. Vehicle is not listed as having a recall, however, this is the exact same issue as many other 2018 Ram 2500 trucks that were included in the recall and my VIN is included in the numbers for the Class Action Lawsuit. The loss of ABS/ESC/Traction control may cause my vehicle to crash without prior warning. My vehicle needs to be included in the Safety Recall Reference: C4B / NHTSA 24V-896

I have reached out to several dealers in the past year to get this recall fixed. Most say parts aren't available, However i spoke with my local dealer in Vicksburg Mississippi and the parts department stated they had the parts to fix this issue and to call back and speak with services to set up an appt. . I called back as i was asked and the service guy said we don't have the parts to fix this ABS recall. I then stated that your parts guy said the parts were available on site for my vin number. He then stated well i wont get paid for it. This has been a major inconvenience not to mention with the ABS and Traction control are faulted, the cruise control wont work and the 4X4 wont work. I have been dealing with this over a year and the say the least it is getting very frustrating.

I am submitting this complaint about Safety Recall C4B / NHTSA 24V‑896 for my 2018 Ram 2500 (VIN: [XXX] ). I am active‑duty military living in Virginia; the truck is registered in Tennessee. FCA’s recall notice says the brake hydraulic control unit (HCU) may fail, causing intermittent then permanent loss of ABS, ESC, and traction control, and that this “may cause a vehicle crash without prior warning.” My truck shows as affected, but I have been unable to get the recall repair. The notice also states that the remedy is “not currently available” and that FCA will contact me when it is. As of February 2026, more than a year after the recall was initiated, I am still being told that parts are unavailable and there is no firm ETA for when the repair can be performed. In the meantime, I continue to drive with a known safety defect FCA has already acknowledged. My truck’s ABS and ESC lights cycle on and off while driving, consistent with the defect description. This creates real concern about whether ABS/ESC will function during emergency braking or low‑traction conditions, especially given that I use the truck for commuting and towing. I am also aware that FCA is reimbursing owners who have already paid out of pocket to replace failed HCUs, which suggests that replacing the HCU is the recognized fix, even as owners like me are told there is “no remedy available” under the recall. This appears to leave many vehicles on the road with a known safety defect and no timely, practical wa

Received a recall letter Jan 2024 concerning C4B/NHTSA24V-896. I have contacted the FCA recall assistance center several times since then. They say there is no parts available for this recall. Yet they have not seemed to have this problem with 2019-2026 models. They say I can have the HCU replaced at my own cost and they will reimburse me for the cost. But there is no guaranty it will fix the problem or how long it may last if it does. This causes me problems because why should I have to pay nd Waite on my money to be returned to me in 60 days. I am retired and on Social security and can only afford to put this on a credit and which I would have to pay interest on. It seems you or FCA has any intentions of coming up with a fix for this recall.

My 2018 Ram 2500 has an active safety recall for the ABS/EBS system that has been open for over two years with no remedy or parts available. The issue was first noticed in August of 2023. I contacted CDJR dealership on how to repair this issue. This is a serious safety defect that directly affects braking stability, trailer brake communication, and emergency handling. Because the ABS module and electronic brake system are malfunctioning, the truck cannot safely perform the heavy towing it was purchased for. When towing a large trailer, the trailer’s electronic braking system does not communicate with the truck, forcing the truck to absorb the full braking load. This has resulted in unstable braking, increased stopping distance, and unsafe emergency handling at highway speeds. The ABS fault also disables cruise control, which significantly increases driver fatigue on long-distance trips. I regularly travel 1,500 miles each way to Florida, and without cruise control I must maintain throttle manually for hours at a time, requiring more frequent stops and reducing alertness. This defect has caused premature brake wear due to the trailer brakes not engaging properly. I was forced to replace the rear rotors and pads at only 32,000 miles, costing me $2,700. This is not normal for a heavy-duty truck and is directly related to the ABS/EBS failure. The unresolved recall has also severely reduced the resale and trade-in value of the vehicle. Dealers discount or refuse vehicles with open

The warning lights have been on for months indicating the ABS is malfunctioning, we have had it to the dealership garage several times and they keep telling us we are on the list but the parts are not available even though it has been over a year. If they fail completely we will have no control over the braking system which can cause a vehicle crash. We have to limit the driving we do with our vehicle because of the danger that is involved. We have another issue for our vehicle: I contacted Chrysler twice with no response. and addressed it with our dealership and they have not helped. We have reported this issue to Chrysler about our 2018 Dodge Ram 2500 6.7L Cummins diesel concerning the Particulate Matter Sensor. This has been ongoing for a year and Chrysler is aware of this problem and has issued recalls on them from 2019 and up. I have been in need of a repair for the C4B recall for well over a year. My truck is unsafe to drive. No ABS, no traction control, no cruise control. I also cannot use 4wd with this issue. My truck has been undriveable for this time frame.

ABS and traction control continously comes on and off. Recieved safety recall almost a year ago. Have been to my local dealership several times over the last year to get recall fixed. Went as recently as today. Each time I am being told no parts / fix is available. It is my understanding this is a major safety concern and it is unacceptable not to have a fix.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
