The contact owns a 2017 Ram 2500. The contact stated that sporadically the ABS warning light illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that he hooked the vehicle to a diagnostic machine which indicated that the ABS control module failed. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that there were no recalls affiliated with VIN. The failure mileage was approximately.48,000.

Purchased this vehicle 8 months ago and from what I have been reading online this is an ongoing problem with Dodge Ram 2500 and this ABS module electrical issue is considered the most expensive part fixing the Dodge Ram, so how is it fair to the consumer to have to pay 3,000 for an electrical issue less than one year ago and only 35,000 miles on vehicle. There are thousands of post with the same complaint on the same year truck with the same issue. The Dodge Dealership said today that it is a safety issue because when we go to use our brakes quickly or for Emergency they will not work and they could lock up. we bought this vehicle to tow our fifth wheel. It makes me feel unsafe and not fair to have to feel this way. These days we can barely afford our vehicles and homes more less to have to pay for an electrical issue that is the cause of Dodge Ram and there Manufacture Issue. They need to be responsible for there faulty parts.
I am receiving two messages: Service Electronic Braking System and Service Antilock Braking System. The cruise control and trailer braking system will not operate under this condition. I tow a 5th wheel trailer. This is a common problem on Ram trucks. The local dealer has quoted me between $1000 and $1600 for the repair. I have a friend who had the problem at 36,000 miles. Ram had made a change to both parts causing this problem (part numbers 68143491AB and 68347098AB) Why are customers having to pay for an obvious design flaw? I was told there is no plan for a recall at this time.
Recall for the drag link on this series of 2500 trucks calls for welding an adjustable part of the steering linkage - the drag link jam nuts, rendering that part non-adjustable. Once welded, to then perform an alignment the welds would need to be carefully ground off, alignment work performed, and then once again everything re-torqued and welded back in place per the recall advisory steps. Also consider the effects of welding, grinding, and welding again and again over the life of this HD truck. An alignment is critical to towing thousands of pounds, pulling to the side and overcorrecting while towing a load because a simple alignment is no longer possible is arguably just as dangerous as the original issue attempted to be mitigated (loss of steering). The correct fix for this safety issue is to replace this drag link component, not render the truck unusable. A new drag link without this issue has been engineered and made available for sale, but my VIN says its not eligible for it as a covered recall repair. This is an OEM design failure with a short-sighted workaround that renders the vehicle useless over time; seems ridiculous for the customer to be financially responsible for this failure. Attached photo is of the welded, "recall completed", drag link on my now horribly misaligned truck.
During a routine tire rotation, the service technician advised me that the brake calipers appeared to be swelling when heating up and were cutting grooves into the wheels. He proceeded to show me the damage and indicated that this could result in a catastrophic event if not corrected. I immediately took the vehicle to the dealership and informed them of the issue. It was looked at and agreed that was the problem. I was advised to contact the manufacturer to start a claim. So far, that is of no benefit. They are basically telling me that until a catastrophic event occurs, there is nothing they will do. I am still trying to get them to cover it. These are all factory parts and I am the sole owner of the vehicle.
The ABS light constantly beeps and flashes. It is available for inspection. We are not sure if it is unsafe. We had it hooked up to the code machine from a dealership and they said it definitely needs to be fixed. Yes it has been confirmed. Not inspected from the Ram dealership yet because I was hoping it would be at no charge. We just bought the truck 8 months ago with 30,000 miles. There should be no problems. The lights come on every time you start the truck and blink more when you go over bumps .
At 30,076 miles, I began to receive 2 warning notifications in the truck’s instrument panel: “Service Electronic Braking System” and an amber ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) warning light. Both warnings include a loud audible warming when they illuminate, appear when driving the truck, but seem completely random in nature. Either or both notifications illuminate and the warning lights stay on for as little as a few seconds to as long as a minute. The frequency of the audible and visual warning lights is also random. On some driving trips, they may appear up to 6-7 times each minute. On other trips they may occur 2-3 times over several miles/minutes. driving/stopping on wet pavement could be problematic because the ABS, Cruise control, and built-in trailer brake controller ALL stop working when the warning lights come on. If hauling a very heavy trailer, and the trailer brake controller fails, then this could cause a fatal condition for not only the driver of the truck, but all those in the vicinity should a sudden slow down or stop be needed.
The contact owns a 2017 Ram 2500. The contact stated that the brake warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the ABS module needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure. The contact was informed that the vehicle had to be repaired out of pocket. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
Today while driving the vehicle, the ABS light came on and other lights followed. The vehicle began to loose power. Pulled in the driveway and the vehicle was trying to catch on fire. There was smoke coming from the hood and the front passenger tire was what appeared to be melted/ bent away from the truck. I was able to spray water on the truck engine and stop the smoke and heat. Once I was certain the truck was not burning, I contacted the local chief of police and met with him to make a report. I had the vehicle for about a month. I had just replaced my 2014 dodge diesel that ignited during the night on March 22,2022. After an extensive fire investigation from the insurance department was undetermined of the cause. The insurance company reached out to Dodge which insisted there have been no problems. That vehicle had been parked for 10 hours. I have researched the multiple incidents involving 2013-2021 dodge diesels which consist of parked vehicles and vehicles being driven that have ignited. This can not be a coincidence that I have had 2 dodge diesel 2500 trucks that have this happen in a matter of 2-3 months. I am now left to report another fire claim on my insurance. I need answers and Dodge should be looking into these incidents. I contacted dodge direct when this happened today and they took my information and said it would be forwarded to “Tamara” to investigate and of no surprise, no return call. I have spent a lot of time and money on now 2 diesels. Both vehicles w
The contact owns a 2017 Ram 2500 trailered to a 2022 Quality Cargo trailer. The contact stated that while transporting the trailer, the contact noticed that the trailer was not aligned correctly. The trailer was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that the leaf springs had started to detach from the axles. The trailer was not repaired. The trailer was traded and replaced by another trailer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was unknown.
At 13,000 miles, I began to receive 2 warning notifications in the truck’s instrument panel: “Service Electronic Braking System” and an amber ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) warning light. Both warnings include an audible “dinging sound” when they illuminate, appear when driving the truck, but are completely random in nature. Either or both notifications illuminate and the warning lights can stay on for as little as afew seconds to as long as a minute. The frequency of the audible and visual warning lights is also incredibly random. On some driving trips, they may appear up to 6-7 times each hour. On other driving trips they may happen 2-3 times over several miles/hours. Some trips there are no warnings in an hour’s time. I took my truck to a trusted repair facility and was told that the 2 parts leading to the warnings (HSU-Hydraulic Unit and ABS Module) should not need replacement until 50,000-60,000 miles, so the warning lights were reset. He also informed me that this has been a known issue by Ram per an internet search, yet no recalls have been issued to date. Since I tow a trailer, I asked about the safety of not replacing the 2 parts and was told that driving/stopping on wet pavement could be problematic if the parts were not replaced. The warning lights issue persisted despite the resets, so I took the truck to a Ram dealership service center. They confirmed that no safety recall were issued to address this problem and I was quoted $1,500.00 for them to replace the 2 pa
The truck had this issue at 7800 miles when I purchased it and now at 33000 miles I have it diagnosed. The ABS control module and hydraulic control module have failed which causes the ABS to not work. This has caused the tires to skid during hard braking or winter weather. Luckily, I am aware of this issue and can anticipate braking needs and adjust accordingly.
The service electronic braking system message came on and the traction control icon also illuminated while descending a steep grade while towing my 14’ livestock trailer. Noticed the trucks factory trailer brake controller stopped working when the traction control light came on. It’s not a good feeling coming down a mountain road with cattle in the trailer and all of a sudden no trailer brakes. Got it slowed down and pulled over. Turned the truck off and when I started it back up the icon was gone and trailer brake was functioning normally. This has occurred twice now while towing. This could lead to a serious accident involving others on the road and not to mention my livestock.
ABS Hydraulic unit and ABS Module failed at 72465 Causing cruise control and 4x4 to not work. Warning lights flash on off intermitting. ABS module is on back order for at least 90 days. Not a guarantee fix. .
Mopar issued a safety recall for a problem with the jamb nuts on the drag-link becoming loose. I had the recall completed with the expectation that "welding" the adjustable components in place would be a temporary repair until the corrected components were available and then the parts would be replaced. I have made many attempts to contact Mopar to discuss this issue but I haven't been successful. I think welding an adjustable suspension / steering component in place, preventing a re-alignment is ridiculous.
The truck went into “limp mode” while driving about 60mph which jerked really hard and almost made me lose control of the truck. I took it to the dealer which cost me $2,000 for a transmission solenoid.
It seems that there is a failure problem with a ABS component on these trucks. I have already replace the hydraulic control unit once on my truck at about 27,000 miles and now I am experiencing the same problem again at about 45,500 miles. The ABS and traction control warning lights have come on again indicating a problem. It will flash service anti-lock braking system and service electronic braking system but never really stays on all the time, these lights also will cause the cruise control to shut off. Usually only comes on while driving on bumpy roads, but will come on and go off a very excessive amount while driving. This seems to be a problem with a lot of people with this truck as I have seen from my research into the problem and I think the Ram needs to address the issue with a recall and not make people pay $600-$800 to have the vehicle serviced to fix the issue that I'm having for the second time!
I HAVE COMPLAINED OF THIS TRUCKS STEERING BEFORE. Complaint#11253556. The recall on the DRAG LINK, which effects steering, has NOT been corrected even tho the recall "weld fix" was done. The truck STILL PULLS TO THE RIGHT. I have had 4 wheel alignments. There is NO room for any alignment to be effective. I complained about this problem BEFORE the recall and it NEEDS TO BE FIXED. The dealer has done nothing to help.
My 2017 Ram 2500 diesel pickup truck has a failure code of C0020-01 - ABS Pump Motor Control General Electrical Failure. This is for the antilock brakes. I had an outside repair shop check the code with a scan tool along with a Ram dealership. The warning light & alarm goes on and off non stop when driving or even sitting still (very annoying) which also means my antilock brakes are not working. In Michigan, that is a very helpful safety feature when driving on snow and ice. I have contacted the factory Ram customer service number 4 times now and all I'm told is it is out of warranty. I could see that if the truck had, say 100,000 miles on it, but it only has 22,000 miles on it and the antilock brakes need to be worked on already? I'm not asking for new brake pads here. This is a safety issue and Ram Trucks should be forced into a recall about it. I am not the only one. Google it and you will find many, and I mean many trucks having the same issue and many comment, why isn't there a recall on such a safety item as antilock brakes. When talking to the service rep, he said they don't have the parts in stock and they do not have an ETA when any will be available. Makes me wonder if so many others are buying them, they cannot get enough to keep up with demand. We all want safer roads. So I ask, why do we have auto manufacturers install antilock brake systems on new vehicles and then not stand behind them? I realize my truck is out of warranty, but 22,000 miles on my truck and I n
I noticed my shifter being very loose and getting harder to put in park. I have always move it very gently so when it started get very loose to the point it feels like it will fall off at any moment I took of the piece of the steering wheel interior to inspect it and have found the shifter bracket is broken which can be very dangerous. I have went out and bought a new one to replace it with for mine and my children's safety.
I have a C0020-01(ABS pump motor control general electrical failure) code on my 2017 Ram 2500 truck with only 43,xxx miles. This code and mechanical issue was identified/confirmed by a Ram dealership. The ABS/traction control warning light started intermittently turning on, and then off about 1,000 miles ago and has continued until now. With this issue, the ABS/traction controls do not work on the vehicle. This alone puts myself, my family’s, and other people’s lives at risk. This is a very well documented and well known safety issue on these Ram trucks. Any simple internet search will show that this is true. Even the Ram Service Representative said that these trucks should be recalled because of this safety issue. There should absolutely be a recall because it is a direct safety issue that involves so many of these Ram trucks. With an extremely common faulty ABS/traction control issue such as this, people’s lives are at risk. I believe that I shouldn’t have to pay Ram over 1,000 dollars to have this safety issue fixed, but I will because it will be to keep my family safe by having a functioning ABS and traction control system on my truck.
The contact owns a 2017 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the transmission malfunctioned, and the vehicle would not move. The message "transmission overheated" was displayed. Additionally, the transmission had experienced slipping and shifting issues. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 70,000. Consumer stated, note that the 70,000 miles was when heater core issues was discovered, casting sand in the engine block that plugged it up. The transmission issues started at about 98,500 miles. The second repair of the transmission and didn’t even get 10 miles down the road until it stopped working and they had to be towed away.
I am inquiring as to when FCA will provide the consumer with a permanent fix for the current bandaid VO6 Drag Link recall. The idea of welded jam nuts being a “forever fix” seems ridiculous. I understand getting an alignment isn’t something that the average individual is doing on a regular basis however in the event one might modify his/her Ram it must be taken to a Ram dealer in order for the welds to be cut. I feel that this VO6 recall has been in play for long enough that FCA would have by now provided replacement parts that properly/safely fit the effected models so an alignment, and adjustments can be made without the need of breaking welds, and re-welding each time.
Service Electronic Brake and ABS lights flash on with dash chime indicating failure while operating the vehicle. No code stored. Intermittent issue - after reading other complaints it appears that this is a serious issue across all Ram owners. Dealer indicated that numerous truck owners are having the same issues and that currently parts are not available. Service tech advised me that the vehicles ABS may fail while operating.
The contact owns a 2017 Ram 2500. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the ABS, traction control, and "Service anti-lock braking system" warning lights and messages were illuminated. The four-wheel drive and cruise control were also inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer diagnosed with a code reader that the anti-lock brake control module and hydraulic control unit was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact there was no recall associated with the VIN. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.
ABS malfunction indicator lamp, service ABS system and service electronic braking system message intermittently coming on. Sometimes for a short period of time and sometimes stay on for entire trip. Causes cruise control and traction control to be immobilized. My safety is at risk due to the ABS and traction control not being functional. I have not had it diagnosed by a dealer yet, however there are hundreds if not thousands of people on Ram forums complaining of the same issues without Ram taking care of the fix and the costs are on the vehicle owners. Its not something like a radio is having issues, its the braking system, which I would think that RAM or FCA and the NHTSA would think is a pretty serious problem with these vehicles.
We were told by a car dealer the head gasket might be bad. So, we had it towed to a mechanic, where it was repaired.
SERVICE ELECTRONIC BRAKE SYSTEM AND ABS WARNINGS, BOTH VISIBLE AND AUDIBLE. THE EFFECT OF THE MODULE FAILURE ON BRAKES AND SAFETY IS UNKNOWN. THE WARNINGS CAN HAPPEN AT ANY TIME, WHEN STARTING VEHICLE, OR WHEN DRIVING. SOMETIMES THE WARNINGS SUBSIDE BUT SEEM TO BE TRIGGERED EASILY BY HITTING A SMALL BUMP ON THE ROAD WHILE MOVING. Currently Dealer can not fix as the part is backordered. (Sept 2021)
The Hydraulic Control Unit and the Anti-lock brake module on my 2017 Ram 2500 Diesel truck is going out. It has 84,000 miles on this truck. This is very costly to repair and Ram knows it is a problem! It is also very dangerous for the brakes to be an issue on any vehicle, but especially on one that has a heavy front end as diesel trucks do. The braking system must be reliable to stop the truck itself. This truck was built and designed to pull trailers and as a work truck. It is very dangerous to consider that these 2 components are not working when pulling a loaded trailer which depends on the braking system as well to stop the vehicle. I am also enclosing several websites to show you that Ram knows there is a problem but hasn't issued a recall on the problem. One of these sites is a Ram forum that shows many people are dealing with this issue. https://www.ramforumz.com/threads/abs-hcu-replacement.276340/ https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/forums/3rd-generation-ram-non-drivetrain-all-years-101/abs-cab-hcu-replacement-218820/ Thank you for your time! The contact's son owns a 2017 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while her son was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle loss motive power without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the dealer could not replicate the failure after test driving the vehicle for 75 miles. The failure recurred after the contact's son received the vehicle back from the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired and was waiting for an unknown part to arrive in December for the dealer to replace. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened and the manufacturer provided a rental vehicle for the contact's son. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000.
Had certified preowned truck aligned after purchase and shop could not adjust front end to stop pull to the right. Took it back to the dealer and they replaced a drag link (but tech said it had nothing to do with the pull) and the second time they rotated front tires left to right. Still pulls to right. Googled problem and I find that it is a common problem with Ram trucks but requires an after market install of ball joints to be able to adjust for the pull. Overheard a service writer who stated “ you can’t align a Ram”.
The contact owns a 2017 Ram 2500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact had reached a stop sign and when depressing on the accelerator pedal to accelerate when the vehicle loss motive power and stalled. The contact had to restart the vehicle for the vehicle continue to drive, however the failure persist several times intermittently. No warning lights illuminated on the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to a local dealer to have inspected the vehicle but could not duplicate the failure on the vehicle and could not diagnosed the failure on the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximate 15,000.
The warning light on dash says check airbag system and the red warning light goes on
Reference recall 19V-021. Due to fixing the problem the steering linkage was welded, because it is welded I am unable to get a front end alignment done. So my truck now pulls to the right and there is no way to fix it.
CRACKING IN SIDEWALL OF 2 TIRES. ONE WAS NOTICED WITH 12000 MILES, CONTACTED MANUFACTURER AND WAS PRORATED TO 50% AND REPLACED. NOW TIRE NUMBER 2 HAS A CRACK WITH 16400 MILES
ABS MODULE AND HYDRAULIC PUMP FAILED AFTER ONLY 35000 MILES
GENERAL ELECTRICAL FAILURE OF ABS AND CRUISE CONTROL AT 22, 275 MILES. HAD TO REPLACE BOTH THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (PUMP) AND THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT. INTERMITTENT WARNING LIGHTS WHILE VEHICLE IN MOTION AND NO ABS OR CURISE CONTROL AVAILABLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER WHO REPLACED THE DEF PUMP HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY AND BOTH SIDE IMPACT AIRBAGS DEPLOYED FROM SEATS AND THE CEILING COVERING ALL SIDE WINDOWS FOR NO APPARENT REASON AT ALL.
SERVICE ELECTRONIC BRAKE SYSTEM AND ABS WARNINGS, BOTH VISIBLE AND AUDIBLE. DEALER REPLACED ABS MODULE UNDER WARRANTY FOR FIRST OCCURRENCE AT APPROX 23000 MILES. OCCURRED AGAIN AT APPROX 40000 MILES AND DIAGNOSED AS SAME ISSUE AGIN AT INDEPENDENT SHOP. THIS RESULTED IN A $900 REPLACEMENT OF THE SAME MODULE. THE EFFECT OF THE THE MODULE FAILURE ON BRAKES AND SAFETY IS UNKNOWN TO ME. THE WARNINGS CAN HAPPEN AT ANY TIME, WHEN STARTING VEHICLE, OR WHEN DRIVING. SOMETIMES THE WARNINGS SUBSIDE BUT SEEM TO BE TRIGGERED EASILY BY HITTING A SMALL BUMP ON THE ROAD WHILE MOVING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 RAM 2500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LOW-BEAM HEADLAMPS HAD BEEN REPLACED EVERY 3 MONTHS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER FISHER CHEVROLET BUICK GMC (775 E 32ND ST, YUMA, AZ 85365, (928) 257-3580) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH NEEDING THE HEADLAMPS TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 10,000.
WHEN PULLING OUT ONTO A BUSY INTERSECTION YOU PUSH THE PEDAL DOWN AND THE VEHICLE STUMBLES OR COMPLETELY DOESN'T REACT. IT HAS CAUSED ME TO ALMOST BE INVOLVED IN A SIDE COLLISION BECAUSE I COULDN'T GET POWER TO CROSS A LANE OF TRAFFIC. I CALLED DEALER AND THEY SAY ITS A COMMON THING THAT HAPPENS AND THERE IS CURRENTLY NO FIX. THEY ARE CALLING IT ""DEAD PEDAL"" RAM HAS TO HAVE A FIX FOR THIS. AFTER RESEARCHING ONLINE I HAVE HEARD A EGR DELETE AND TUNE WILL FIX THE ISSUE. EGR DELETE IS ILLEGAL IN MY STATE AND I DO NOT WANT TO MODIFY MY VEHICLE FROM FACTORY SPECS. THIS IS A VERY UNSAFE CONDITION AND RAM NEEDS TO MAKE A FIX FOR THE ISSUE.
AFTER APPROXIMATELY 8K MILES MY 2017 RAM 2500 INTERMITTENTLY HAD THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT AND ABS LIGHT ILLUMINATE. AT FIRST IT WOULD ONLY TEMPORARILY FLICKER AND CHIME, BVENTUALLY THE CODE/LIGHTS REMAINED IN THE SYSTEM. WHEN THIS OCCURS CRUISE CONTROL IS NOT AVAILABLE. I'M NOT SURE IF THE ABS OR TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEMS OPERATE. AFTER MULTIPLE VISITS TO THE DEALERSHIP THE ISSUE WAS LOCATED AND THE ABS MODULE AND HYDRAULIC MOTOR CONTROL WERE REPLACED. EVERYTHING HAS OPERATED PROPERLY UNTIL THE LAST COUPLE WEEKS, WHICH IS 2 YEARS AND 3 MONTHS LATER, WITH 19.8K MILES. AFTER STARTING THE TRUCK AND LETTING OFF THE BRAKE THE ABS/TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS FLASHED AND THEN IT DIDN'T REOCCUR FOR SEVERAL DAYS. THEN AS TIME WENT ON AND BUMPIER ROADS WERE ENCOUNTERED IT WOULD HAPPEN MORE FREQUENTLY, SOMETIMES SEVERAL TIMES PER MINUTE. THIS FELT EXACTLY LIKE WHAT I HAD EXPERIENCED PREVIOUSLY. THEN IT WAS BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CODE WAS TRACED TO C0020 - ABS PUMP MOTOR CONTROL - GENERAL ELECTRICAL FAILURE. SO AGAIN, THE ABS MODULE AND HYDRAULIC MOTOR CONTROL NEEDED REPLACEMENT. AFTER A HANDFUL OF MILES THINGS ARE BACK TO NORMAL.
THERE IS A KNOWN DEFECT IN THE CUMMINGS DIESEL ENGINE REGARDING THE INTAKE AIR GRID RISER, THAT IF NOT REPLACED WILL CAUSE COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE. THE BOLT INSIDE THE GRID FAILS DUE TO EROSION FROM HEAT OR ELECTRICAL CURRENT EXPOSURE AND DROPS INTO THE ENGINE DESTROYING THE PISTON
THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM REQUIRES I HAVE 60 PSI IN THE FRONT TIRES AND 80 PSI IN THE REAR TIRES. UNLESS I HAVE A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF WEIGHT LOADED IN THE PICKUP BOX, THE REAR TIRES ARE OVER-INFLATED AT 80 PSI. THIS OVER-INFLATED CONDITION CAUSES A RAPID WEARING OF THE REAR TIRES. MY REAL CONCERN THOUGH, IS THAT THE OVER-INFLATED CONDITION CAUSE THE TIRES TO LOSE TRACTION UNEXPECTEDLY DURING WET OR ICY CONDITIONS. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS MY VEHICLE HAS BECOME 'SQUIRRELLY' WHILE I WAS JUST DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. MY DEALERSHIP HAS TOLD ME THE PRESSURE IS SET AT THE FACTORY AND CAN NOT BE CHANGED BY THE DEALERSHIP AND THAT REMOVING THE PRESSURE SENSORS WOULD CAUSE MY DASH GAUGES TO INDICATE I HAD NO PRESSURE IN THE TIRES. THIS OVER-INFLATED TIRE PRESSURE SITUATION IS CAUSING A VERY HAZARDOUS CONDITION, NOT ONLY TO MYSELF BUT TO OTHERS AS WELL. THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE FIXED. THIS IS A ONGOING SITUATION BUT IS ESPECIALLY HAZARDOUS DURING WINTER MONTHS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 RAM 2500. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, AFTER TURNING OFF THE FRONT DRIVER HEATED SEAT OFF BUT STATED IT WAS AFTER 15 MINUTES AND THE HEATED SEAT WAS STILL ON. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN MULTIPLE TIMES TO LOCAL DEALER BOSAK MOTORS (3111 W LINCOLN HWY, MERRILLVILLE, IN 46410: (219) 682-0497) AND WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED HE CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. FRONT PASSENGER SIDE UNDERBODY FRAME BOLT & NUT CAME OUT CAUSING LOAD NOISE AND FRAME ENGINE SUPPORT SHIFTED DOWN 25MILS AND FORWARD. OCCURRED IN PARKING LOT 5 MPH GOING OVER SPEED BUMP. REQUESTED DEALERSHIP TO CHECK ALL OTHER UNDERBODY TORQUE SETTING.
MY 2017 RAM 2500 HAD 55K MILES WHEN I GOT A DASHBOARD WARNING INDICATING THAT SERVICE OF MY ELECTRONIC BRAKING SYSTEM WAS NEEDED. I ALSO GOT WARNING INDICATORS FOR ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL. I HAD POOR BRAKING, NO TRACTION CONTROL AND NO CRUISE CONTROL WHEN THESE WARNING LIGHTS WERE LIT. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED AND REPLACED THE ABS HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU), COSTING ME $750. MY RESEARCH REVEALS THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS TRUCK AT VARIOUS LEVELS OF MILEAGE, AND RAM/FCA HAS RESTRICTED THE DISTRIBUTION OF THE HCUS IN RECOGNITION OF THIS PROBLEM. RAM REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THIS IS A PRODUCT DEFECT. I'VE OWNED MANY OTHER BRANDS OF VEHICLES (BMW, TOYOTA, HONDA), WITH VARYING LEVELS OF MILEAGE, AND NONE OF THEM HAVE EVERY EXPERIENCED A FAILURE IN ABS COMPONENTS. RAM/FCA SHOULD ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THESE COMPONENTS HAVE A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT AND REIMBURSE CLIENTS WHO PAID TO HAVE THE PARTS REPLACED.
HI...RAM IS FAILING TO INVESTIGATE MY COMPLAINT. I HAD VERBATIM THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPEN TO ME AS IN MY DOCUMENTATION. I ALSO HAVE DASH CAM FOOTAGE THAT THEY WON'T REVIEW SHOWING THERE WAS NO ROAD DEBRIS. I WAS DRIVING UP A STEEP GRADE, TOWING A TRAILER, THE RADIATOR WENT INTO OVERDRIVE, AND THEN MY SHROUD GOT SUCKED IN. FURTHER PROOF OF THE FAILED INSTALLATION ARE THE DUST RINGS ON MY SHROUD. MY TWO CONCERNS ARE THE ISSUE ITSELF AS WELL AS RAMS FAILURE TO EXAMINE MY CONCERNS INCLUDING EVIDENCE OF FAILED INSTALLATION AS WELL AS DASH CAM FOOTAGE PROVING THAT WHAT THEY CLAIM IS FALSE.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, ON A RIGHT HAND CORNER I TURNED AND COULD HEAR AND FEEL A 'POP'. THEN HAD SLOP IN THE STEERING, NEARLY CAUSING ME TO CATASTROPHICALLY CRASH . I CONTROLLED IT ENOUGH OFF THE ROADWAY INTO A FIELD AND STOPPED, IF THERE WAS A GUARDRAIL OR DROP OFF, I WOULD HAVE MAJORLY CRASHED. I COULD TURN LEFT, GO STRAIGHT. BUT GOING RIGHT I'D TURN THE WHEEL 1 FULL TURN BEFORE IT 'ENGAGED' STEERING. AFTER INSPECTING THE TRUCK, I NOTICED THE TRACK BAR WOULD MOVE 4-6 INCHES BEFORE THE WHEELS WOULD EVER MOVE. WHEN SHAKING THE WHEEL WHILE PARKED, THE WHEELS WOULD NOT MOVE BUT THE ENTIRE BODY OF THE TRUCK WAS MOVING LIKE CRAZY AS IF IT WERE DANCING. AFTER PULLING THE TRACK BAR OFF THE TRUCK, THE ENTIRE 'HEAD' AROUND THE BEARING ATTACHED TO FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WAS COMPLETELY SHEARED SHEARED ON 1 POINT CAUSING THE BEARING TO HAVE FREE PLAY. THIS TRUCK IS 3 YEARS OLD WITH 57,000 PAVEMENT MILES. CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THE STEERING MECHANISM SHOULD NOT HAPPEN AND COULD POTENTIALLY KILL SOMEONE.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
