On three separate occasions (so far), our 2022 RAM 1500, with 23,768 miles on it, has stalled, and completely shut down all driving function while in forward motion. 1. While pulling out from the grocery store parking lot onto a main town road while trying to accelerate from 5-25mph. (May 2024) 2. After restarting the truck, and driving forward a couple feet, it happened again. (May 2024) 3. While driving 60mph down the parkway, and decelerating/downshifting to prepare to take the exit. (October 2024) All three times, there were absolutely no warning signs or lights that came on before, during, or after this happened. The engine remained running, but felt as though it was in neutral. The truck would not shift back into drive, regardless of us changing the gear shift, and had to be completely powered down, and powered back on.....in the middle of the road. In both May and October, the truck had been brought to the dealer, and they were not able to recreate the issue, nor were any codes or problems detected. Thus, we have had to leave the dealer, each time, in an unpredictable and unsafe vehicle. We are lucky that the incidents of this happening in April were at an intersection with stoplights, preventing traffic perpendicular to us, from T-boning us as we were stuck in the middle of the road. We were also lucky that the incident in October happened while there was nobody traveling close behind us. Any of these incidents could have caused a major accident. Not only would this i
The contact owns a 2022 Ram 1500. The contact stated that after shifting into reverse(R), the back-up camera image was flickering. The contact stated that at other times the back-up camera display was not showing any images. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent, but eventually, the camera was no longer functional, and only displayed a blue screen. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the back-up camera wiring harness had short-circuited and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 47,933.
On 20/14/2024 I was traveling down a highway at approximately 40 mph when a vehicle pulled out in front of me with virtually no warning. The front of my vehicle struck the driver's side of the other vehicle, causing significant damage to both; my vehicle was subsequently "totaled". My primary concern is the failure of the airbags to deploy; none did so. Airbag malfunction. I suffered multiple injuries by striking the steering wheel & dashboard. Unknown if problem reproduced. Unknown if inspected. No warning lamps or other indicators.
Recently, the front right airbag impact sensor (part 68284052AA) went bad. So I went ahead and bought a new one (68606357AA) off of Faulkner Ram dealership out of Mechanicsburg, PA. But the new sensor did not work. The old sensor which is part 68284052AA was superseded by 68606357AA. But 68606357AA is not compatible with the ORC module in my truck. I tried 3 different new 68606357AA sensors. None of them worked. To make sure I didn't have a wiring issue, I swapped the right and left sensors. Then DTC said left sensor instead of right. Googling around, I found an online publication on NHTSA's website talking about the same issue, where a tech replaced both sensors but they were not recognized by the ORC. It also stated that the sensors had to be replaced with the same part number (68284052AA) as to originals (Just google "Case number S2408000050" and you will get the pdf). Given that the original part (68284052AA) was replaced by (68606357AA), and it's not available for purchase anywhere, What are your customers supposed to do? I have been driving the car without airbags and am unable to find the part to fix the issue. My safety and the safety of my family is in jeopardy and this issue is becoming a frustration.
The contact owns a 2022 Ram 1500. The contact stated that there was condensation accumulating in the rear taillights. The contact stated that the vehicle recently experienced electrical failures with the power window switch not raising or lowering the windows as needed. The contact stated that the radio and several other electrical gauges were inoperable. The contact stated that the 115-Volt Cargo outlet warning light was blinking. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that water had accumulated through the taillight assemblies and caused a short circuit of the rear right BUS system. The contact stated that the dealer dried out the taillights and all the wiring harnesses were reinstalled with the rear taillight assemblies. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that there was condensation accumulating again in the taillights. The contact stated that the Blind Spot warning light had flashed and then turned off. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 44,000.

My 2022 Ram sunvisor has a broken connection that caused it to come loose from the roof/ceiling and dangle in my line of sight while driving. This almost caused an accident for me as it startled me and I had to take my hands off the wheel to stop it from swinging by the electrical cord. It is a powered sunvisor with my garage door opener built in and that is the only reason it did not fall completely in my lap. I am hoping by reporting that other people may have had a similar issue and measures can be taken to stop this from happening to others. I went to the place where I purchased the vehicle and warranty to find out that this defect is not covered under warranty. For a vehicle that is only 2 calendar years old with 49,000 miles, this part should not fail. I am unable to add additional photos showing how far down in line of sight the visor falls. The website only uploads blanks.
This report pertains to the lighting system of the vehicle, specifically the parking light mode of the lighting system. When stopped at a dark, unlight turn out, with the engine turned off, I turned the head light control switch from "automatic" to the parking light position to ensure visibility of the vehicle to other drivers approaching/entering the turn out. I confirmed via reflection that the lights had turned on. Later, when I exited the vehicle to retrieve belongings from the back, I noticed that the lights were no longer on. I switched the light control to the off position, and back to the parking light mode, which activated the lights. I noticed an indicator on the dash. However within a few minutes, the lights were again switched off by the vehicle, the only notification being the absence of an indicator light on that dash. This unexpected, automated behavior put myself and others at risk, by reducing the visibility of my vehicle to other drivers near (but not on) a dark highway. This specific issue has not been brought to the attention to service personnel, as it appears consistent with other non safety critical lighting behavior which has been reviewed and deemed functioning as designed. There are no error codes or other diagnostic indicators present related to this issue.
The truck is not safe to drive
I was driving my 2022 Ram 1500 today to an intersection where I stopped. As I started to accelerate through the intersection my truck lost power, shifted into park and the emergency brake was turned on. On the driver display I received a battery and voltage error which quickly appeared then disappeared. All of this happened without warning or obvious cause. Luckily no one else was at the intersection or the situation could have been more dire. It took me 3 to 4 times turning the truck on and off to be able to drive again. This is the first occurrence I experienced. Very unnerving having my vehicle shut off while driving and having the parking break applied.
The sun visors are made cheaply and have broken off of both the driver side and passenger side. This makes driving towards the sun really dangerous and blinding.
This problem has happened Two times in the last couple weeks when slowing down it Stalls engages the emergency break and puts itself in park very dangerous I almost got rear-ended the second time it happened and to restart the vehicle, I have to manually turn the electronic emergency brake off, then proceeded to the starting Process.
My traction control light and ABS light keeps coming on and off(doesn't stay on long enough to produce a code. Dealership noticed light came on but can't do anything(still have warranty) and is not on the recall list for my 2022 Ram Laramine???
My truck has been stalling at low speed, automatically shifting into park, and the emergency brake is automatically engaged. This occurs at random times, but typically as I approach or depart a stop sign or community gate. It has happened with other vehicles in the vicinity. The dealership has changed out the MGU, but it happened again the next week, 3 times. The dealership states that they are not receiving assistance from Chrysler.
Exhaust manifold leak at less than 25,000 miles in a 2022 model year truck. This continues to be a problem with Ram, not offering extended warranty coverage and is affecting many vehicles with the 5.7 hemi engine, leaking to carbon monoxide risks, repair costs, increased emissions, etc. why Ram hasn’t been forced to address this preemptively especially since it can ruin the catalytic converter, release dangerous emissions, on top of the well known camshaft issues affecting numerous engines.. they’re getting away with manufacturing a defect product while nobody holds them accountable. While my repair is currently covered under warranty, I am without my vehicle until it is done. Others are even more unlucky paying out of pocket or in the case of most people nowadays, incurring an expense they can’t afford because of a defective design
Both rear tail light assemblies shorted at the same time. This was confirmed by local Dodge dealer mechanic
I was pulling forward from a stop sign entering the intersection when my truck abruptly stopped and threw me into the steering wheel. An alarm was dinging and lit warnings were flashing. One alert said to release the emergency brake, so I released the emergency and pressed on the accelerator and nothing happened. The engine was shut off and in park. I was in a panic and didn't take time to see what all the warnings were. I started the truck and drove a mile home.
When placing truck in reverse, the backup camera displays a blue screen.
My truck is subject to a safety recall for the high pressure oil pump. Campaign 01A/23V-263. I took the truck in for the repair in December 2023. I was told that the parts were not available, and that the dealer would call me when the parts became available. No one contacted me, so I contacted Ram in March 2024. I was told that the parts still were not available, and that the dealer would call when the parts become available. As of today, August 23, 2024, I still have not been contacted and the repair has not been completed.
Shortly after beginning to drive, I approached a stop sign and the parking brake automatically engaged, and I could not drive. I had to shut the truck off, manually disengage the parking brake and then I was able to drive again. This has happened 4 or 5 times over the past couple of months. It's very dangerous and the dealers are telling me they can't do anything about it because they can't replicate the problem. This is extremely dangerous and is going to cause an accident.
2022 Ram 1500 with etorque Hemi, 46,000 miles. On 3 occasions, since August 9, 2024, the engine stalled upon the engine starting during stop start mode. All 3 occasions occurred at a stop sign. 2 stalls occurred in front of oncoming vehicles. No accident happened. 1 instance the vehicle the emergency brake was activated, the low battery voltage light came on, voltage showed 11.4 volts, and the voltage did not increase while driving .75 mile. Battery was charged over night. Latest occurrence, after restart the voltage would stay at 13.0 volts while driving over 20 miles.
On July 20, 2024, I was stopping at a red light at a slow speed when the electronic parking brake engaged on its own. I couldn’t turn it off and the truck would not move forward when the light turned green. I had to turn the vehicle on and off several times to disengage the brake. We then turned off the brake assist off in the user settings/computer. This could have caused a rear end collision but thankfully the cars behind us were also traveling at a slow speed and saw we had our hazard lights on.
1st Issue: With <5K miles on odometer, engine would not shift out of 1st gear. Check engine light came on. I drove ~5 miles to a safe place and parked. After a few minutes I cranked up and the check engine light was off. Transmission shifted fine. I reported to the service manager at Abernathy Dodge in Lincolnton NC during first scheduled oil change. He shrugged and said "who knows". 2nd Issue: With <10K miles, vehicle would stop suddenly and would not move. I had to pull the park brake lever to release it. Assumed it was a safety system that I was not familiar with. Later, it would lock down and stall and I took the same steeps to release. 3rd Issue: With <39K miles (3k outside of warranty and paid for) the check engine and battery light come on. I took it to Marburger RAM in Shelby NC because it is closer than the dealer where I purchased. They stated it needed a battery module that had to be ordered. I drove it almost home before the engine stalled. Had it towed back to Marburger on 7/13/24. I have called frequently and stopped in on 3 occasions since 7/13/24. Each time they are waiting on some type of battery module. No attempts to reach out and keep me updated. I really like the RAM 1500 truck but, I am sick of electronic gremlins and failure of dealer to address or communicate. I have been extremely fortunate to have avoided a highway accident caused by electronic features beyond the drivers immediate control. Any assistance and manufacturer accountability you can provi
Problems started about a year after I built/purchased the vehicle. I started to experience stalling and hesitation when accelerating. At slower speeds, the truck shuts off, occasionally and the brakes lock up. This almost caused a major incident twice, due to vehicles following me and the abrupt stops in traffic. This could have caused a major accident and loss of life/lives. This has been going on for several months. They can't seem to duplicate the problem, even though, on 3 occasions, they did software updates and once, replaced the fuel pump. The vehicle is still under warranty but approaching the end of warranty period in about a year. I have taken the vehicle to Dodge on 8 occasions and they say it can't be duplicated. I filed an arbitration hearing for them to repurchase or replace, but was denied. I recently read in a news article that there is a preliminary investigation for the exact same thing that is happening to my vehicle, which involves over 150,000 vehicles in the 2022 Ram and Jeep Wagoneers by the NHTSA. The vehicle is very dangerous to drive and I fear that a major accident is imminent. Customer care says that because they can't find anything wrong with the vehicle, they closed the case. I have everything documented, the arbitration case denial, the customer care representative, closing the case because she stated that I was refusing to work with them, which is not true. She informed me that they were even going to tow the vehicle to the Dealership where it
Engine shut off while traveling on road way
The truck has been having difficulty shifting the transmission at times, major delay in throttle when applying the gas pedal at a stop sign or at a stop light. This can be a major accident waiting to happen because that delay may and can cause an accident, injury, and/or death.
RE: Open NHTSA investigation to Ram & Jeep… Today, [XXX] at about 10am: While driving at low speed: My 2022 RAM 1500 shut off, put itself in park and activated emergency brake — this is the 2nd time in less than one month this has happened. I took truck to dealer (Central Florida Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram) for service on 7/8/24 to address the first time this happened on [XXX]. There is an open nhtsa investigation into Ram/Jeep for 2022 vehicles shutting off… i need direction yo help address this issue. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
While driving around 75 MPH on I-75 on 7/28/2024, my Ram truck seemed to stall and would not accelerate as I was driving in the middle lane. I tried several times to accelerate but the response was intermediate and not sustainable for more than 1-2 seconds. The experience reminded me of a time dozens of years ago in a different vehicle when I ran out of fuel. FYI- I had a 1/3 tank of fuel remaining when my issue occurred. Having no acceleration at this high of speed with heavy traffic put me and my family at risk. I safely pulled over and the engine automatically shut down when I put it in Park. There were no check engine/warning lights on the display. I waited about a minute and restarted the engine. The engine reved okay so I put in drive and completed my drive with no additional issues. I have an appointment with my local dealer next week to have this looked into. This is the only time that I've experienced this issue.
The truck will lose power, shift into park and apply the emergency brake. This has happened around 25 time, It happened the day i got the truck, got it started turned around went back to the dealer, they did find anything. This is a very
At low speed, engine stalled and along with strange braking issues occurred causing me to move off road to avoid traffic. Check engine light, and battery light illuminated. After multiple attempts engine restarted and I was able to drive vehicle normally. I didn't think much of it until same problem reoccurred with engine surging and braking. Similar to the transmission slipping and jolting when throttle applied.
Which specific part malfunctioned is unknown. I was slowing down as I was approaching a stop sign when the engine shut off. Next, the automatic emergency braking was activated. I had to restart my vehicle, disengage the parking brake, and shift back into drive. I continued to proceed on my way driving significantly under the speed limit, for fear of this occurring again.
Happens once in every 5 times. If I'm sitting still about to gas it to pull out into traffic the gas pedal does not react causing a massive delay that has almost got me in a few accidents. I've also been at an intersection, stop signs, traffic lights and parking decks moving slowly and the trucks Emergency Brake will automatically be applied.
The vehicle has stalled multiple times while slowing down into a light and does not restart. The vehicle is equipped with the e - torque system that is supposed to restart the vehicle after coming to a full stop in the engine shutting down to conserve fuel. The vehicle will sometimes shut down at a slow speed and will apply the parking brake automatically. The vehicle then has to be restarted the emergency brake has to be disengaged and the vehicle has to be shifted back into drive to be able to move. The vehicle will have multiple warning lights come up on occasion, including low voltage, service etorque system, low power mode. The vehicle has been taken to two different dealerships at least three different occasions. Sometimes they find diagnostic trouble codes that refer to loss or low engine power. But they have not been able to replicate the problem when dropped off. The problem has occurred during the winter months but also the summer months, so it seems that temperature is not the sole cause. But it seemed to happen more during winter time. The concern for safety is that the vehicle will shut down at a low speed of less than 3 mph. When letting go of the break and expecting the engine to restart the vehicle May slowly roll forward into an intersection if it's in a downhill before the parking brake is able to engage itself. Another concern is for the person behind might assume that the vehicle will drive forward but due to the engine failing to restart and applying the
My truck randomly stalls, and which point the parking brake engages, sometimes in the middle of a turn or at a stop sign, This issue was the topic of a recall for the 2021 model year. Mine is a 2022 and is experiencing the same exact symptoms and issue.
1. Engine stalled and complete loss of power at low speed/during acceleration at a stop sign, traffic signal, crossing, etc. 2. Engine stalled and complete loss of power at low speed (under 35 mph) during acceleration and/or deceleration. 3. I've noticed over the last several incidents that upon initial startup the engine did not feel or sound normal to the point I have been able to anticipate a stall. Engine will not idle properly, rough/jerky takeoff, delayed response when accelerating. Stalling only occurs once per driving episode. It has not stalled a second time following the initial stall. It appears the issue resets the engine?, electronics?, computer board?. 4. Incidents are very stressful. The number of times the stalling incident has taken place is between 15-20 times. I purchased the vehicle new with 35 miles. As of 7/2/24 I have 39,400 miles. The issue began about a year ago with approximate mileage of 26,000
The engine in my truck stopped running while I was driving on the highway. First thing I noticed was the dash indicating that I should shift into park. When I attempted to apply power to safely change lanes, there was no response from the engine and thats when I realized the rpm was at 0. I attempted to restart the engine, but it sputtered and ultimately died again. Upon bringing the vehicle to a stop on the shoulder, I attempted a restart and the engine ran loudly for a moment and then died. Once I got the truck to the dealer and they were able to assess the problem, the determined that the engine had experienced catastrophic failure. One of the valves had stuck open and punched a hole in the piston. Thankfully this was covered under warranty and the truck now has a brand new long block, I have since learned that this is a recurring issue with this motor from FCA so I decided to report it to the NHTSA.
Near stalls when taking off from stop.
Vehicle stumbles at stops when sits more than 6 hrs ..feels like a misfire ..had it to dealer 6 times can’t find problem
Vehicle stalled after accelerating from a stop sign during slow speed driving in my neighborhood. Truck engaged auto parking brake in middle of intersection, "battery" light illuminated on dash, and Battery voltage suddenly read approx 11.5v. Had to restart in intersection and disengage parking brake to proceed. This occurred at 18002 miles on May 11. (photo attached) No previous warning lights or issues. Dealer was only a mile away so drove there without stopping while battery voltage continued to read 11.x volts. The dealership service dept was closed, so drove 2 miles home while battery warning continued. After stopping and re-starting truck in my driveway, voltage showed normal 13-14v and continued to run normally afterwards. Truck occasionally exhibits engine stumble especially when coasting to stop signs in my 15 mph neighborhood during first drive of the day. I have not experienced a complete stall since this one incident. Vehicle has not been back to the dealer since this occurred but is available on request. While unusual, I didn't have time to deal with the problem since the dealer was closed. I saw a notice of nhtsa investigation online which made me think to report this now, 2 months later.
When coming to a rolling stop, or a stop where the vehicle just briefly stops moving, the press on the accelerator, the vehicle hesitates for a moment, sometimes 1-2 seconds. This behavior is repeatable. In regular driving such as making a quick left turn after slowing to a near stop or a right turn immediately after coming to a stop at a light or stop sign, this behavior is dangerous as the driver expects and immediate response. Taken to dealer. Official write up claims they were unable to duplicate, however texts with the service advisor say they repeated this behavior with multiple trucks.
2022 Ram 3.5 V6 ETorque. While cruising at low speeds (Approx. under 30mph) and making a left-hand turn, my vehicle's engine shut off and the emergency brakes activated without warning. This happened on more than one occasion. This safety hazard could lead to serious bodily injury or death.
The contact owns a 2022 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving 20-30 MPH after making a turn, the vehicle stalled. The contact shifted to neutral(N) and pulled to the side of the roadway. The contact had not attempted to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The contact stated that the failure had recurred six months later. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a secondary dealer, Rick Hendrick Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM Duluth (2473 Pleasant Hill Rd, Duluth, GA 30096); however, the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 22,000.
Engine stalls randomly and the parking brake sets automatically slamming the truck to a sudden stop. So far I’ve had 4 separate incidents. Always when taking off after a stop at an intersection. Truck stalled just as I was entering an intersection each time. No dealer has confirmed this issue. No inspections have been done. No warning lights or messages appear. Incidents occurred over a 8 month period beginning 12/2023. Most recent, first week of 07/2024.
I was slowing down for traffic at a stop light and when I was almost stopped traffic began moving again so I took my foot off the brake and pushed the gas pedal. The truck stalled, it shifted to park, the emergency brake came on and a red warning lamp for the battery came on. Traffic behind me had to stop abruptly to avoid hitting my vehicle. I immediately put my 4-way flashers on while trying to get the truck to restart. This was at 3:30 pm in very busy traffic on a 6 lane road on Feb 22 2024. I couldn’t get the truck to restart or move or do anything for over a minute. After a minute the truck allowed me to restart and drive home. The battery lamp stayed on the whole way home and the back-up camera stopped working when I parked. It has never had issues other than this one time. There were no warning lights on and no symptoms before this happened. It has not happened since, but I worry it could happen again with no warning.
I am not sure what system failed, but I suspect it could be an electrical or engine problem. The car has lost towing features, has shut off or almost shut off while driving on highways or while making left and right turns during exits from highways. The vehicle has also lost power steering. This happen while the vehicle was towing a travel trailer on the highway. There will be occasions when the front collision warning system goes off in spite of no collision being imminent. There have been occasions where the infotainment unit fails to turn on and also the rear-view camera feature does not come on. The vehicle continues to have these issues off and on. Yes, the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. My safety and those that were onboard the vehicle were put at high risk because the vehicle could have been rear-ended had vehicles behind me been following more closely while the vehicle lost power and stalled/almost stalled. On the highway, my safety and those of others were at even higher risk due to increased speeds. During towing our safety has been tremendously put at risk. Some of the problems have been "fixed" by the local dealership (i.e. loose cables, replacement of infotainment unit). In other instances (stalling issue, collision warning system) the dealer claims to be unable to reproduce the problem. The vehicle and or components have not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, etc. One occasion there was a "check engine" warning, but it was very brief.
Truck stalls out when driving and stoping. Causing parking brake to engage and lose of all functions. It has been at dealer 4 times they say it’s to intermittent. They can’t get it to do it. Also they see a fault but can’t trace it. This has been going on since 2023 a few months after I leased it. I have all records of events. No warning is given before this happens. It just dies. Yes truck is available for inspection. Dealer has all info on status. Parkway dodge jeep and ram.
Connection under drivers seat was intermittently shorting on seat frame causing loss off BUS communication. This resulting in loss of power steering, power brakes, loss of speed and rpm indicators, erratic wiper blades, multiple warning lights on dash and radio while driving at 55mph as well at low speeds. The connector has been repaired by dealership.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
