While driving the truck completely lost all power and crashed into a side wall. Dealership stated it was an electrical issue related to steering brake rack.

Exhaust Manifolds are cracked as others have noted. This a known issue by the manufacturer and they have issued a TSB but those of us out of warranty have to pay to replace their known defective part. This should be a full recall.
A known problem with the rear power and manual sliding window backlite frame developing cracks on 2019-2021 Ram 1500 built prior to September 30, 2020. The extended warranty has only been offered to the sales codes of GFE and GFD. My vehicle was built with a different sales code in Nov 2018 for the rear power sliding window but has developed the same issue. I have attached a photo showing the crack.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact’s wife stated that while the vehicle was parked and shut off, the driver’s front door became inoperable. The contact reported that the front driver’s side door hinge began to detach, causing the contact’s wife to fall from the vehicle. As a result, the contact’s wife sustained ankle and wrist injuries and was transported to a local emergency room for treatment. The contact expressed concern that the failure posed a serious safety hazard to occupants and bystanders. The contact also stated that the front passenger’s door was beginning to exhibit similar issues, raising concern that the defect could result in additional injuries if not addressed. The contact mentioned that the passenger side door hinge was starting to detach prematurely. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 122,000. The VIN was invalid.
Multiple times when placing the vehicle in reverse, review view camera screen shows distorted view or 'camera system not available' and blue screen. Have taken to dealer regarding issue multiple times, issue unresolved by component replacement in kind. Have researched online, found this is a common problem with Ram DS vehicles. Have tried online "tricks" to repair - they work temporarily then problem returns. Have been dealing with these issues for several years, very troublesome especially since I have small children so rear visibility when backing is critical.
Alternator with etorgue has gone out leaving the truck stranded and no parts are available. I order one on the 23rd of June 2025 it is now September 9th 2025. There is no update and part is still showing back ordered.
Bilateral manifold failure, high incident in 2019 vehicles. Stellantis should review for recall.
Issue started with a "service shifter" warning at just shy of 3,000 miles, in January of 2019, and upon speaking to the dealership, they advised to shut off the truck and restart which cleared the "service shifter" warning. They said it was a glitch and that should remedy the issue. This issue became more frequent later (after manufacturers warranty ran out) It started leaving me stranded, sometimes for hours around 45,000 miles. Later, I suffered a multisystem failure and warnings that the truck was not in park, the shifter would not turn, truck would not start, and multiple other warnings. We were able to replace the battery which we thought had fixed the issue, but two weeks later it has done it again, and this time the battery disconnection for a period of days has not fixed the issue. I still owe two years on this truck and it has been a lemon. I have taken it to two dealerships, neither can fix my issue. I have done countless hours of research to address the issue. I am paying payments and do not have anything to drive. I need help with this issue. I have maintained the vehicle and have only put close to 60,000 miles on the truck. There is no logical reason I should be dealing with this many major issues that even the dealership can not seem to remedy. With such low miles and at only 7 years old, these issues should not be considered "routine maintenance" at the point in the truck's life. I believe this issue needs to be investigated, as I know many RAM owners who are f
Having to replace the rotors and brake pads just about every 6 months. Constantly hearing the front brakes grinding into the rotors while driving. Front and rear calibers are not releasing pressure after brakes are applied. Issue began in 2022 after buying the vehicle.
See attached document for complaint.
Alernator / generator failure. shutdown engine while driving on the highway. Steering and breaking ability severely reduced.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 MPH, there was an abnormal sound coming from under the hood, and a burning fuel odor was entering the cabin of the vehicle through the air vents, before the vehicle lost automotive power. The electronic throttle warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer, where it remained for further investigation. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
I’ve had this car for four years and my motor has blown three times and they have changed the head on the motor three different times I was driving the car on the highway. The car was at the dealership for five months and the day I get the car back not even eight hours later I’m driving down [XXX] other car shuts off and says to put in park and leave me stranded on the side of the road with my [XXX] child and my girlfriend . I had to wait until they came and picked me up and told me and this is extremely unsafe and a hazard after the third head replacement at the dealer and the car still under warranty. I don’t feel safe in this car with My Child. I picked up my truck around 2pm August 25th , and the motor blew Wednesday night at 1045pm for a 3rd time INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The issue is the MGU went out on truck. Dealer has no idea when a replacement will be available. Was told over 4100 are backordered. This appears to be an ongoing problem with these trucks for several months now. They blame supply chain issues. I feel it's on the manufacturer to readily have replacement parts. Clearly they didn't do their due diligence on this part. Something should be done to this company for the way they are treating customers. It's my only vehicle to get to and from work. Please put pressure on this company to get the necessary part.
The eTorq generator stopped working and the engine shutdown on the highway. I had to get a tow to the shop as the vehicle is not usable and the engine will not start. Furthermore, this part is unavailable with no-ETA as it is on nationwide backorder. I have been waiting for over a month I was told over 13000 of these are on backorder for customers around the country. I have also read many posts of others waiting months for the part. There is obviously a systemic problem with the part and an issue with replacements. It does appear the original part was superseded by a different version. Please help!
MGU FAILED AND HAS BEEN ON BACKORDER FOR MONTHS
LCD screen in instrument cluster does not power on, stays black, and does not show relevant driving, safety, or error messages.
Exhaust manifold bolts on the passenger side of the vehicle (2019, 5.7 Hemi, Larami version) have broken. The exhaust system is leaking. An exhaust smell and taste is readily detectable when standing near the cab doors of the vehicle. There is an unknown, regarding if any amount of the exhaust is being drawn into the cab air intake.
EGR cooler has failed and leaked on manifold after 2 EGR bypass cooler replacements. Went online to see when original EGR recall was completed and online data base reported complete Dec 29, 2019. That particular part for the VB1 was not even ready until March-May 2020. There are also no service records or work order for that recall being completed whatsoever. The EGR cooler cracked on the manifold while driving with my kids and almost or did ignite as the whole truck was pouring smoke from behind and underneath. The dealer did inspect and confirm the damage and has been in touch with the manufacturer, acknowledges that there are no service records or work orders for that recall. Dealer acknowledged that no part was available. Manufacturer takes no responsibility but did state in e-mail they believe recall was claimed to have been done in transit during a stop sale.
The contact's husband owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while entering a parking space at less than 5 MPH, the vehicle independently accelerated forward. The vehicle accelerated over the concrete parking block and crashed into the grocery store's front window. The contact stated that the incident happened so quickly that they were uncertain if any warning lights appeared on the instrument panel or if the brake pedal was depressed during the acceleration. The air bags did not deploy upon impact. The contact and her husband were taken to the hospital by ambulance; however, neither suffered any injuries. No other injuries were reported as a result of the incident. A police report was filed. The vehicle was initially towed to an independent tow yard before the contact's insurance had the vehicle towed to an independent body repair shop. The contact stated that the store's large front glass was shattered as a result of the accident, but was unaware if any other property was damaged. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer had yet been notified of the failure. Upon investigation, the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V653000(Service Brakes, Hydraulic, Electronic Stability Control) and NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V407000 (Air Bags, Seat Belts); both recalls were previously serviced on the vehicle. The vehicle remained in the possession of the independent body shop and had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 72,000.
On August 20, 2025, my 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie was taken to the dealership for diagnosis after showing the warning “Electronic Stability Control system needs service,” along with a flashing check engine light. The dealer pulled diagnostic codes and documented U0403-00 (“Invalid Data Received from Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Control Module A”) as well as other communication errors. This is the same defect covered under Stellantis’ recall for ABS module failures that disable stability control in 2019 Ram trucks. However, my VIN is not included in the recall. A few years ago, the truck experienced the same warning, but the problem cleared on its own. Now it has returned and is documented with codes in the dealer system. The dealership acknowledged other recalls were already completed on my VIN, but refuses to perform this safety recall since my VIN is not listed. ABS and ESC failures are not the result of consumer behavior. This is a faulty system created at the time of vehicle manufacturing. There has been no accident or outside damage, and nothing the owner could have done to avoid this issue. The defect lies with the vehicle’s design and creates a serious safety risk for the driver and others on the road. I believe my VIN was excluded from the recall in error and request that NHTSA investigate and expand the coverage.
MGU (alternator) has went out on my truck and multiple dealerships have stated they can’t fix it due to parts not available. Molar can’t get the part and now I’m stuck with no vehicle. The dealership told me they have multiple people waiting for the same part and that the MGU is faulty and fails on these trucks. My wife was taking my kids to school and they were stranded on the side of the road because my truck give a battery low warning and then died. It should be illegal for ram to continue to sell these vehicles and refuse to fix them. I can’t even buy a used part to fix it because the dealership won’t program and install a used part.
Safety Complaint – Power Steering Failure on 2019 RAM 1500 Big Horn 4x4 Not Covered by Recall VB8 To Whom It May Concern, I am submitting this complaint regarding a recurring safety issue with my 2019 Dodge RAM 1500 Big Horn 4x4. The vehicle experiences intermittent power steering loss, particularly during colder temperatures. This issue matches the symptoms described in Safety Recall VB8 / NHTSA 19V-812, which affects certain 2019 RAM 1500 vehicles due to contamination in the EPS gear. However, my VIN is not currently included in the recall, despite the alignment in model, year, and issue. I have already incurred diagnostic costs and have a follow-up appointment scheduled at a RAM dealership to further investigate the issue. I am requesting that NHTSA: - Review my case and consider expanding the scope of Recall VB8 to include additional affected VINs - Investigate whether similar complaints have been filed for vehicles outside the current recall range - Ensure Chrysler/RAM is addressing this issue consistently and fairly across all impacted vehicles Thank you for your attention to this matter. I am happy to provide additional documentation upon request. The contact owns a 2019 RAM 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the ABS warning light illuminated, prompting the contact to discontinue driving the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the ABS control module. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V653000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
I have a 2019 Dodge ram 1500 has 77,000 miles on it. My alternator generator went out. I’ve called over 100 places and no one has the part so that leaves me stranded for work because I own a business I’ve had the truck for five months. Unkown, but while driving, I got these alarms all of sudden at the same time.
The MGU (motor generator Unit) is failing. Appears to be a known issue with Chrysler. Problem is that this part is not available. Was told that there are over 3,000 backordered parts with no eta. The dealer said that they had several on backorder from May. This is a 2019 product and there is no reason that this part should not be available.
Both driver and passenger front seat belts simultaneously faulted that they were bad on the SRS system of the vehicle. Nothing happened to the seat belts, but the dealership wants tons of money to fix this issue of which should not happen so early in this vehicle’s life.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at 35 MPH, the vehicle jerked violently and downshifted unintendedly. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated, and the gear shift indicator and speedometer were malfunctioning. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road. The contact stated that the failure had recurred while driving at various speeds, and the vehicle stalled on several occasions. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road. The vehicle was able to be restarted after 5-15 minutes. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with loose wires. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that while his son was driving 65 MPH, the failure recurred, and the vehicle shut off. The contact's son was able to pull over to the side of the road. The contact’s son was unable to remove the ignition key when the vehicle shut off. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 16,000.
After coming to a rolling stop and making a right, I would attempt to accelerate. The vehicle would then throw itself out of gear and I could not accelerate. A message would appear on the dash "Shift to P then Desired Gear." The problem would not be fixed until the vehicle was put in park, then back into drive. I took the vehicle to RAM and they could not replicate the issue, but it would happen to me regularly (1-2 times a month at random). I told this to RAM Dealership and RAM Cares, but nobody seemed bothered that it could get people killed. The problem did not seem to get fixed until I took apart the throttle body and cleaned it out by hand. Since then, I had not had an issue.
At about 77k miles, I started hearing a humming noise from the engine when I would accelerate and then decelerate. Upon inspection and confirmation from Ram dealership, the Engine Generator Kit (alternator) appeared to have a bad bearing and needed to be replaced. I initially agreed to the replacement until I was told that the part needed is on backorder and that there were roughly 4k orders placed ahead of mine nationally. This means I have no way of fixing this issue using an original MOPAR part. I was told I can agree to pay for the item to get the order placed and then wait until it comes in with no timeframe given other than it could be weeks or months. I am now having to drive around in a vehicle that could potentially breakdown at any time and thus leaving me with no vehicle. I do not have any warning lights on the dash but it seems like I am driving a ticking timebomb.
Mopar Part # 68623194AB Generator on a national backorder. There is a problem with this part and MOPAR cannot fix the issue - ETA is non existent - Truck has been parked since July 4. Making payments on a truck that is not functioning. The vehicle shut down completely on I-95. Had to have it towed to my home.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, several unknown warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact pulled over to the shoulder of the roadway and turned off the vehicle. While attempting to restart the vehicle, the vehicle failed to immediately restart, and several attempts were needed to start the vehicle. The vehicle then returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The contact was informed that the failure had been referred to an engineer with the manufacturer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 45,000.
In November 2024, my 2019 RAM Rebel displayed “SERVICE SHIFTER,” “PARKING ASSIST,” and “CHECK ENGINE” lights. Dealer performed software updates, but one week later the lights returned. Dealer then replaced the parking assist module, but two weeks later the same issue happened again. I have brought the truck in multiple times since. Often the lights turn off before arrival, and dealer states no fault can be detected. I was told to bring it in immediately when the lights are on, which I did, but still no fault found. Problem continues, and now the truck has begun putting itself into park while driving or when stopped. This is an ongoing and serious safety hazard. I also added photos of others affected by the same issue.
2019 Ram limited 4x4 . Leather dash has bubble and shrinking exposing air bags . 5th gen trucks are having issues with this that Stelantis [ Ram] knows of. They know of this issue and wont fix. They seem to have fixed this issue in 2023.

Air bag light came on in the instrument panel. I took it to the dealership along with oil change. They scanned the airbag problem and it came back that the passenger front seatbelt had open circuit. My vehicle is not part of the current recall for this issue. I want to let you know that my build of my vehicle should fall under the current recall for the ongoing build dates with this issue.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact had read about steering recalls on the year, make, and model of the vehicle online. The contact stated that while his son was driving 40-50 MPH, the vehicle lost power steering functionality, causing the vehicle to drive up a curb and to nearly crash into a bridge post. The power steering warning light was illuminated after the failure. The vehicle was started the following day, and the power steering operated as needed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the wiring harness had rotted and needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that further diagnostic testing was needed. The dealer confirmed that the VIN was not included in a recall, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 52,000.
The alternator part has been out of stock since the beginning of 2025 my trucks alternator went out in March and have not been able to find the part available for purchase, it has been 5 months.
The truck lost power steering due to the soldering on the star connecting being messed up. The truck also had 4x4 not available,as well as no brake assist in reverse due to the communication issue. The dealership had to replace the star connector due to soldering issue.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at an undisclosed speed, the left turn signal failed to engage as intended. Additionally, the contact stated that the instrument panel displayed that the right turn signal had engaged independently while driving. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the steering wheel module had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
Airbag warning light is on no accident. It just came on no airbags have been deployed. There is a recall for similar. Ran 1500 classics of this make and model but not my VIN number for the same airbag sensor light.
While driving down the highway the vehicle stalled out and quit running with no warning. Electrical error flashed on while trying to pull off to the side of the road safety. After getting it to a mechanic the cam was found to be bad.
2019 RAM 1500 Big Horn, less than 35000 miles and coolant leak from cylinder head.
The "Generator Kit" which houses the vehicles alternator went bad. I have been waiting for more than 4 weeks for the repair to be done and the shop has no idea when the part will arrive. It is Generator Kit #68623194AB. I reached directly out to 12 dealers and none of them give me any idea of when they can get the part and have a waiting list themselves. The web is lighting up with thousands of complaints about this single issue. One dealer said they have no idea when the part will show up and they've already been waiting for "6" MONTHS. They said it could honestly be another 6 months. For an alternator??? RAM Trucks has a major issue here and they have known about it for a while.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle inadvertently shifted from drive(D) to park(P) independently. After shifting back to drive(D), the vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular failure. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
When using reverse, the image stays on the screen in reverse for sometime. also, screen stays a solid color in black or blue at times not allowing any controls on the screen when attempting. Screen will sometimes freeze and reset sometime after driving. radio and or screen stays on for an extended period of time after turning vehicle off leaving vehicle and locking doors still allowing radio/screen to continue in operation.

[XXX] Known issue in 5th Gen Ram 1500s. Defective Mopar Connector Cam Buss. Causes the truck shifting problems and can cause going into park while driving. Issue below is on the forum causing a wreck. My 2019 Dodge Ram Limited started malfunctioning, causing me to wreck when the shifter unexpectedly went into park while I was driving. The brakes locked up, making the truck slide, and by the time it switched back, I was already sliding off the road. Parksense unavailable warning & service Shifter lights do come on. I called the Murfreesboro Ram dealer and they confirmed the issue that is was known to dealers. Majority of the dealers are sold out of the part due to this issue. Motor Generator Unit failed at 89,000 miles. Three dealerships that I spoke with having waiting lists of customers for this repair. Backlog on part is up to four months. It is evident that this is specifically problematic to the models equipped with the 5.7-liter V8 Hemi MDS VVT eTorque Engine. Federal warranty expires at 80,000/ 8 years. Based upon the number of vehicles effected and specific to eTorque engines, seems like a recall (or reimbursement) is warranted in this case.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
