Defect. Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2024 Titan, Frontier, Infiniti QX60, Pathfinder, 2023-2024 Sentra, Versa, Kicks, Infiniti QX50, and 2023 Rogue vehicles. Due to a manufacturing issue, the driver's air bag inflator may absorb moisture, and cause the air bag to deploy improperly.

Risk. An air bag that deploys improperly may not protect the driver as intended during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy. Dealers will replace the front driver's air bag assembly, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 10, 2024. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan's numbers for this recall are PD103, PD104, and PMA34.

I'm an employee at a driving school in Colorado and have experienced numerous occasion when loss of power is experienced. The most recent was in 10/05/2025 at 02:10pm. No warning light came on. The car was not accelerating more then 18mph. This issue is concerning. We have students driving for the first time that are affected by this Nissan Versa 2024 malfunction. Please have this issue reviewed and solved before something serious occurs.

Recently began driver training on this vehicle with my son (at approximate vehicle mileage of 12,500). Vehicle is manual transmission and had never previously been stalled. Once vehicle had been stalled during driver training, reduced vehicle power was available, creating an unsafe condition when attempting to merge into traffic or driving on an uphill grade. The issue produced no warning message or CEL but did produce a pending OBDII error code of P2615 (camshaft signal output circuit low). The error appears to resolve after a full restart (shut down, unlock and open door, close door, restart). The error is reproducible and has occurred on multiple occasions. The error does not reset if simply restarting vehicle without opening door between restart. I have scheduled an appointment for evaluation by dealer, but it has not yet been confirmed by dealer. I believe this is a manufacturing defect, as the same issue occurs on another identical car owned by me.

I purchased my 2023 Nissan Versa on December 30th, 2023. Since then I had two incidents occur where the car turned off suddenly while in drive. The first incident occurred April 15th, 2024. As I slowed down to stop at a red light then my engine suddenly shut off and the oil and battery light came on. After panicking for about a minute, I tried turning the car off and then back on again and then it started up and was working like normal with no warning lights. I took the car to the dealership to get it inspected the same day and the Nissan Service Advisor said that nothing could be diagnosed because there were no warning light. He said that this must've been a fluke because a car that new shouldn't be having that kind of issue. Without running any diagnostics he told me to just drive off and come back if it occurs again. Against my better judgment I listened. On March 22, 2025 the same exact issue occurred again. As I was slowing down to stop at a stop sign, my engine suddenly turned off. I took it to the dealership the next morning they were open and they were unable to replicate the issue after driving it and they couldn't find any error codes in the system after running diagnostics. I opened a case with Nissan Consumer Affairs after the car was given back to me and they sent out a technician from the district to look at my car. They held my car for 9 days and then gave it back to me because they do not have any resolution for my issue. They also denied my request for a repl

This problem has occurred several times since the car was bought new in 2023: The driver is at a red light. When the light changes, the driver depresses the accelerator and the car accelerates very slowly. The RPM go very high and the car will not drive faster than 30 mph. After the car is parked, turned off, and left for several minutes, it starts and drives normally. This occurs at random intervals - perhaps only once every two months. This is potentially dangerous if the driver is turning onto an interstate or crossing a larger busy road from a parking lot stop. It is as if the car is driving in low gear and not bumping up to higher gears. We have taken the car to the dealer twice. They have not been able to recreate the problem so they decline to implement the warranty. We have a dash cam video of an instance of one malfunction, provided to Nissan. They confirmed that this was a malfunction event but could not diagnose it from the video. The upload below is not allowing us to upload the video.

Car sometimes stall after releasing clutch too soon on first gear and goes into limp mode. Luckily I haven’t gotten hit from behind yet when this has happened but came close multiple times. The limp mode is what scares me that I will get into an accident.

Car has manual transmission: If engine stalls from starting on a hill or any other reason, when restarted it runs on limp mode with severe loss of power. Problem usually resolves on next restart, but may take up to 2 restarts to resolve. Issue was reported to Buckeye Nissan, Hilliard Ohio on 11/08/23. at that date it had occurred 3 times in the first 1,200 miles. as of 02/24/25 it has occurred approximately 15 additional times within the first 19,000 miles. potential danger in that most stalls occur from start at traffic light, and if left turn is made at traffic light after restart, there is not enough power to avoid oncoming traffic, merge onto freeway etc. this condition is easily reproduced with an intentional stall.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? I would like to add my experience to others that are currently being investigated under NHTSA investigation PE24007. I have the same experience with my Versa - after the vehicle stalls, it is significantly under-powered and even with the throttle completely open in third gear, will not accelerate over about 40 mph. This is re-creatable and we will make the car available for inspection. In addition, when we first drove the car home from the dealership (the first time at sustained highway speeds), there was a thumping noise from the front passenger wheel well. After multiple trips to the dealership, Nissan replaced the manual transmission under warranty. This has resolved the thumping, but indicates issues with the construction quality of these cars. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The car does not go over 40 mph. This is dangerous in any driving situation that is not a neighborhood road or road with a speed limit of over 40 mph. Others have called this state "limp mode", but I can't see a reason for it. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. The tech that replaced the transmission agreed that the car is low on power after a stall. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Yes, dealer representatives. Were there any warning lamps, messa

I am adding my own experience to previous reports of the car entering limp mode after popping the clutch. It has happened to me three or four times: when the car has accidentally stalled and turned off, after turning the car back on, the car accelerates very slowly, much slower than normal. Typically, this problem resolves at the end of a trip after the car has been turned off for a while.

I went to take off and cross traffic and lost all power to my car it would barley move. I was almost hit by a Semi truck. This is not the first time this has happened either. My car is barely a year old. It had no warning light on or anything. I have to stop, shut my car off, take the keys out and let it set then restart it for it to start working right.

Additionally, the check engine warning light remained illuminated. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were yet contacted. The failure mileage was 11,000.

I stalled my vehicle (5-speed manual) in a drive through. I quickly restarted the vehicle and proceeded through. When I pulled out onto the main road my car had no power. There was nowhere safe to pull over so I had to continue. My car would not accelerate above 20mph and even that was extremely hard. I had to downshift to 1st gear to proceed up the hill. Finally, I was able to pull off and restart my car. This fixed the issue and I was able to drive home. I’ve not stalled the car before so I had never experienced this issue. I’ve read about it, and having it happen is terrifying. Had the car who was driving behind me been going faster, I likely would have been hit when I pulled out of the drive through. This is extremely dangerous.

Car stalled on highway. Car would not push pass 20 mph no matter how much I pressed on the gas. Eventually car stopped moving and this happened on the highway while I was driving normally and then it slowed down and then stopped. This happened before about 5 months ago and I turned car off and it drove again so didn't think of an issue until today when it happened again and didn't move. I had to wait 2hrs for a tow to the Nissan Dealer for service in the morning.

While driving on city streets the check engine light came on and I was unable to accelerate or maintain speeds above 30mph. Because the car couldn’t operate at posted speed limits, other vehicles were stuck behind me or had to go around. It was also slow to start at traffic signals. I will be taking the vehicle to the dealer shortly for further diagnosis.

I was taking my 23 versa M/T to the dealer for its 10.000 mile service and upon driving the vehicle while pulling away from a stop sign I stall the vehicle and after that there was a significant loss of power, restarting the engine did not help. When I got to the dealership I did not shut the engine off and told them about the issue and said it was a safety issue and did not have the power to get out of the way in a emergencysituation. Unfortunately they claimed they could not duplicate the issue and requested to hold the vehicle for further investigation. Before the vehicle le was stalled there were no warning lamps or check engine lights or any symptoms prior nor any warning lamps on the wa to the dealership while the issue consisted. This problem has happened twice before while my wife was on the way to work and after her shift the vehicle preformed normal.

The car completely dies. No power at all. Battery has been checked and is fine. Advanced auto parts said alternator was bad but 2 dealerships have said it’s fine. Both dealerships looked at the car and cannot find the issue. Car has gotten towed to both when it dies and no one can find the issue. Had the car for 1 week when this happened - car only had 3,000 miles. Car was purchased on 4/25 and it has died over 10 times. Happens when car is turned off and started multiple times in a short time frame - like when you are out running errands.

If engine stalls, lifting clutch pedal too fast, etc, upon restarting engine power is considerably impacted. Car can barely keep up with traffic. Problem eventually goes away until another stall occurs. This has occurred several times. I have not this issue inspected by others. I have seen similar complaints online stating this issue. They recommended I enter acomplaint to your office I have not noticed any messages displayed when these events have occurred. This issue began after each time I stalled the vehicle beginning soon after I drove the vehicle with 11 miles on the odometer.

Multiple incidents where car has failed to accelerate properly. When it happened this morning, I was in the vicinity of the dealership. Foreman mechanic road-tested vehicle with me, and back at Nissan my car put out the engine code P2615-00 camshaft posi signal B1...I was told this is a known concern on manual transmission Versa vehicles that is "being looked into by engineering." On a previous visit to the dealership about this problem, I was told that the acceleration problem could have been caused by bugs covering the front crash sensor! Anyway, on a couple occasions, when merging into traffic, this problem was dangerous..I've resorted to my emergency blinkers a couple times....Then, upon being able to pull over, I shut off the car, and when I re-start the vehicle it runs like a champ again.

If you stall the car, upon restart there is a great degree of power loss. It seems like it's the VDC system turned up to the max, where it's limiting engine power, and applying the brakes. It makes the car much slower and difficult to get up to speed. This can cause a safety risk as it causes the car to perform unpredictably. When this happens, in order to reset the system and make it work normal, I need to turn the car off, get out, close the door, then get back in and turn it back on. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? I suspect it has something to do with the ECU/VDC system How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? If I need to get out of the way of something, or need to get up to speed on the highway, in any of those scenarios it could put me at risk. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Not that I know of, but I haven't taken it to the dealer regarding this issue yet. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Not that I know of Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No.

This vehicle is a manual transmission model. If the engine is stalled on takeoff and has to be restarted it enters a low power condition where acceleration is severely reduced. The power loss is bad enough to make it impossible to keep up with traffic. Even maintaining speed while climbing hills is difficult. This is dangerous because moving much more slowly than surrounding traffic makes this car a collision risk. The low power condition continues until the vehicle is turned off and the key is removed. The MIL light has come on and the DTC is P2615. We have scheduled to take the vehicle for service tomorrow, but it hasn't been seen by a technician yet.

2023 Nissan Versa S has manual transmission. Car will intermittently lose acceleration. When this problem starts, car is unable to go over 30mph in any gear and even with the accelerator pedal pushed to the floor. This has occurred 5 times so far. Sudden loss of speed creates a life threatening situation when driving on a highway and speeds of 65 mph are expected. The car will suddenly drop to 30mph or lower without any warning and will not accelerate. Problem is not fixed by restarting the engine. Car was taken to Premier Nissan of Fremont, California on 10/20/23. They reported: 2560 did not verify customer concern. Road tested with additional technician, drove vehicle in every gear from 1-5 5mph to 65 mph. Also down shifted from there and no hesitation or loss of power was felt. Vehicle moves fine in all gears. All ok at this time. Car was returned to me on 10/24/23. GPS locator on car indicates that car was always parked at dealership for the 4 days and not driven. I connected a OBD code reader to the car's port and it reports Camshaft Position Error but Premier Nissan of Fremont, California refused to take that input saying they did not want to influence their technician. After the "no-problem" diagnosis they stated that they do not see any history of issues on their NISSAN supplied OBD reader. Hence the car has no problem. I am fearful of driving it on the freeway and loosing acceleration which will result in me getting rear ended and killed!!!

After I stalled the engine in a fast food drive through I restarted the car. When I went to take off the engine had no power and took a very long time to get up to speed throughout the gear selection. I was almost rear ended because of this. The car did not throw any check engine lights or dash codes. I got home and turned off the car. It sat for about 10 minutes then I test drove it around the block and it was fine.

2023 Versa occasionally loses power. Though the gas pedal is pressed to the floor, and despite downshifting, the car continues to lose power. This has happened about four times since car was purchased new in June 2023. Turning cart off and restarting may or may not interrupt the power loss. ~What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? We are not sure what is malfunctioning, and yes, it may be inspected upon request. ~How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? My 2023 Nissan Versa S5MT has a reoccurring issue where under a stall condition the car will occasionally loose all power on a restart. This happened once in traffic. I got to a red light and fumbled the clutch pedal and stalled in stopped traffic. I went to get in front of a semi that was moving faster then me and if I didn't realize what happened I may have cut him off and gotten T-boned. In a 2500lb car like the Versa, that could have killed me. I have taken the vehicle to the dealership and they failed to replicate the issue. There were no symptoms or warnings prior to the failure. Many others have claimed this issue exists with their 2023 Nissan Versas and also claimed the dealership could not fix theirs.

My car stalled while backing up in heavy gravel. I started out and did not notice that my car was not accelerating. I pulled out into a 65 mph road and began shifting and realized my car was not accelerating. It was a road where pulling over was dangerous. I found an area and turn the car off. I restarted (fixed it when 1st occurrence happened). Got back on the road and again my car was not accelerating above 25-30 mph. Pulled out off the road shut the car off and waited 2-3 minutes and again restarted and the car resumed working properly. This was extremely dangerous due to the road not having safe pull outs. The car lost power and would not go over 40 MPH. This made for a dangerous situation on the road. P2615-00 A Crankshaft Position Sensor code was thrown, but when I took it to the dealer they could not replicate the problem. I have video documentation of the problem I can provide. Since I posted my video, several other people have come forward with the same issue. It seems as if when the manual transmission version of this car is stalled or fails to start, it will throw this code and severely reduce the power. It seems to be a simple software issue, but so far all the Nissan dealers who have looked at these cars have not been able to provide a fix. This problem apparently affects all 2022-2023 Versas with the manual transmission. The problem is likely they did not properly code for the removal of the push to start button. Driver side visor sometimes falls straight down. In this position, it is not possible to drive safely. When the visor will not hold its position, a person is forced to put the visor against the Driver side window. That might be fine out on the open highway, but it is not safe for driving around city streets. There has been low usage of this visor since this vehicle rolled off the dealer lot 4 months ago. The dealer claims outside use caused the visor to be inoperable. I believe it is more a matter of it being defective.

No unusual pattern of severe incidents in the complaint record.

Complaint counts track how many cars were sold and how long they have been on the road as much as they track quality. A common model from 2013 has had a decade to accumulate reports; a rare one from last year has not. The signal worth weighing is in the severity columns, in whether the same component keeps appearing, and in whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.

Recall repairs are free for as long as the recall stands. Check whether a specific car still has open work at NHTSA's VIN lookup.
