2014 Nissan Versa

Defect. Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2012-2015 Nissan Versa sedan vehicles manufactured June 9, 2011, to March 11, 2015, and 2014-2015 Nissan Versa Note vehicles manufactured April 23, 2013, to March 11, 2015. The affected vehicles have a center console trim panel that may catch the driver's shoe and delay the transition from the accelerator pedal to the brake pedal.

Risk. A delay in the application of the brake pedal would lengthen the distance needed to stop the vehicle and increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will modify the console trim panel, free of charge. The recall began on September 14, 2015. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261.

Defect. Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2014 Versa Sedan vehicles manufactured July 16, 2013, to January 29, 2014, 2013-2014 Cube vehicles manufactured July 3, 2013, to October 21, 2013, and 2013-2014 Juke vehicles manufactured July 3, 2013, to October 22, 2013. When exposed to hot temperatures, the affected vehicles have an engine start/stop button that may stick inside the button housing.

Risk. If the engine start/stop button gets stuck in the housing, road vibrations may cause the engine to shut off unexpectedly while the vehicle is being driven, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will modify the start/stop switch housing, free of charge. The recall began on August 4, 2015. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261.

Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2014 Nissan Versa. It was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a dealer sale. At the time of purchase, the mileage was 98,488. It was discovered from a Carfax Report that mileage in 2015 was 96,458, and in the same year in September that the mileage was 42,613. On January 1, 2023, the mileage was 34,483, and the Carfax Report indicated that due to mileage discrepancies, there was possible odometer fraud.

The contact's daughter owns a 2014 Nissan Versa. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle made abnormal sounds, failed to accelerate while turning, and shuddered abnormally. The RPM remained steady with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, and it was determined that the wheel bearing and continuously variable transmission (CVT) needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not covered under warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 59,200.

When continuing forward from a stop sign, the car has a slight shutter when accelerating. This was confirmed by an independent service center. Has not been inspected by the manufacturer. No visual warnings or prior symptoms. There was a recall for this particular issue for a 2014 Nissan Versa, but my VIN number was not included for which I believe should have been. My current mileage to date is 35,600.

We have had this car since 2017 and in that time the bearings have had to be replaced 3 times and about to be a 4th. Considering that your tire can come completely off while driving shouldn’t this be a recall? 1st replacement was in 2018

Vehicle was involved in a frontal impact crash, passenger side airbag popped out of the dashboard, but did not inflate, causing significant injury to the passenger of the vehicle. A police report was filed, but it is not available yet. It takes up to 10 business days from date of accident.

The contact owns a 2014 Nissan Versa. The contact stated that water frequently entered the vehicle from an unknown location, soaking the rear center passenger's side seat and floorboard. The contact cleaned the front windshield cowl; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.

At approximately 130K miles the CVT transmission had a sudden failure. Struggles to shift gears properly and often will pick a random one, which causes further damaged. Vehicle has sat for years, the transmission is unrepairable and a new unit must be installed which cost around $3500 for the transmission alone not including labor as told by the Nissan dealership. I now sit with a giant paper weight that is useless and worth nothing. Manufacturer should be held responsible as this issue exists and has been recalled in other models and years with the same transmission or issue.

The car is constantly jerking and losing power. The car has been towed for not responding after acceleration. Mechanic has told me it is the transmission. Car only has roughly 86k miles on it. Not safe to drive at all.

The first incident, my car shut off as I was driving down the road. I had to put it in park in the middle of the road, start the car, and floor it to get there car to go. The second incident was after I took it in to Nissan. They said it was fixed, and two days after I picked it up, the car shut off on me as I was leaving a gas station, and the check engine light is back on.

The vehicle was undrivable and was towed to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed the vehicle and determined there was no transmission fluid inside the CVT transmission. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who confirmed a failure with the CVT transmission. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 83,700.

When I was driving normally on a hot day(90 degree), in on and go traffic, the lights of Engine, brake, battery, power steering suddenly all lighted up and the Engine stalked any the same time without any warning. Brake, power steering, oil pedal all stopped working. At that time, the AC was not in use so it would not be a problem. I turned off the Engine, and turned on it again and everything worked normally again. I brought my car to check the battery, charging system, starting system. All good. Also, I check all fluid levels(brake, transmission, engine oil, coolant, window wash fluid) which were all normal. I am the first owner of the car. The car was well maintained and gently used, and only has 15,000 miles. The most recent oil change was two months ago and it was also inspected by the Nissan dealer that time without any problems. This is very dangerous for my family. That time I was driving in the heavy traffic on high way, when the engine stalked suddenly and my car lost power, my car was hit by a SUV behind me. My car is not 10 years in and the car has started to force itself/ judders when I’m accelerating a bit on the street and freeway. It basically back tracts when I’m driving. I’m starting to not feel not safe in the car. I need my car to get to school and work. I took my car today to the mechanic and he told me the transmission is faulty which is causing the problem. He told me his other customers with same car are having those problems too.

Transmission acts up Every time I accelerate to 30-35mph. Must remove foot from gas until RPMs go down to at least 2(if I'm lucky). If this process is not done the car continues to get louder and doesn't perform properly. I have two kids that I regularly take to school and other places so this is a big problem. When I first bouth this car used in 2020, the car suddenly begins accellerating rapidly but going nowhere while driving and I had the transmission replaced very soon after 68000 miles but, luckily it was under warranty. Now, less than 2 years after NISSAN replaced the transmission, I am driving down the interstate and my car starts jumping and going really slow and sluggish to get to the next gear then just takes off normally again. This will happen with the car just driving normally after that then again a shudder and slow down but its never consistent. I took it to Nissan again and guess what, the transmission went again. These Automotic CVT RE0F11A Transmissions in Nissans are severe safety issues and I have noticed and heard from mechanics all over and on this website even.

My 2014 Nissan Versa has been acting strange after giving a family member a jump. Now my transmission seems to slip; I would put my foot on the gas and the rpm will sometimes be stuck at 3 for longer than normal. In addition, my back driver seat lock/latch stopped unlocking all of a sudden.

Continuous Variable Transmission Assembly Failure; Engine Stalled on the Highway; around 4/25/2022 No warning lights came up. Took it to the Nissan Dealer; They charged $495 for reprogramming Computer and Test Drive. The problem came up PF17F0 - Judder. CVT Assembly has to be replaced. The car has run only 33,000 miles and is good condition. The dealer says to REPLACE the Transmission with a new ONE. They stopped installing REFURBISHED Continuous Variable Transmission Assemblyand will only sell the new ones for others to repair cars. It costs $6,500/== More than the worth of the cars. THEY WILL NOT SELL PART - creating Monopoly.

In February 2022, our 2014 Nissan Versa (which my husband purchased new in 2014) started to sputter and nearly stall upon acceleration. Today (3/14/2022) I visited Younger Nissan- a Nissan dealer in Frederick, MD where he purchased the car- for diagnosis and repair. They found that the car at 77,666 miles needs a completely new transmission, costing over $4000 in repairs. This is a critical safety issue. The car could have stalled at any speed, and there is no error or alarm shown on the car's dashboard indicating an issue. This is a product defect and with no warning or alarms there was no opportunity to fix or check the issue while under still under warranty. I have been driving this unsafe vehicle for several weeks, unaware that there was a critical safety issue for myself and other drivers- this is unacceptable! This is a known issue for Nissan. If you Google "2014 Nissan Versa transmission" you will find complaint after complaint- including a class action law suit- about this issue. It seems that Nissan knows and is trying to ignore this issue. I would appreciate if you looked into this issue with Nissan and their CVT transmission issues with their 2014 Nissan Versa models. I also plan to contact Nissan North America, the US Department of Transportation, the Maryland State Attorney General and possibly Small Claims Court about this issue. I was told by Nissan of Tustin, CA, that I need trans repair. I was also told that several other issues exist. For minor items that cost a healthy price. After the repairs I’m called and told I have an additional charge for rear tail lights and brake lights which occurs when repairs on the trans are done. This sounds like something that nissan knows so why not cover that in the repair? Doesn’t sound separate sounds like compound issue from trans. Is there a recall order for this issue with the Sentra, which is the same cvt transmission?

I purchased my car 2 years ago from a used car dealership. It began to give me problems a few months after that. I then took my car to Nissan to be reprogrammed for free back when there was an open recall on my car when I found out it had too many miles for the warranty that would allow the transmission to be replaced. I've been driving it since and doing normal maintenance on it regularly. It recently began giving me trouble. I had to pull off the interstate because it would not accelerate and could have easily gotten into a car accident. I took it back to the dealership where they will be performing a diagnostic study on the car.

My car has a CVT transmission and it jerks and stalls when trying to change gears and sometimes gets stuck in gear. I saw that their is a recall for this issue in nissan cars (versa,Sentra,Altima’s)from years 2012-2018 issued in 2016, but when I called the dealership they said it’s not for my specific car according to the VIN number. I’m not sure why this is and I’m confused and would like to know how to resolve this issue.

Around 86999 miles car started jumping in the front and other times in the rear of car when going from park to reverse and also when I stop at a light or/and take off . Car jumps and makes a loud noise when it happens.Took to local Nissan dealer to check the problem and they told me “ nothing is wrong with your car, we didn’t notice any thing you mentioned “. Faulty Transmission. Replaced twice in 2 years. Nissan doesn't want to be responsible for 2nd Transmission. It cost $3,700 a Transmission replacement.

About a month ago the vehicle began shaking unexpectedly. The RPM started to go high when driving about 35 miles per hour. On the highway the RPM would go up to 5 or 6 and if it went down the car shook violently. At times I did not feel I would be able to keep control of the vehicle while on the highway. I stopped driving on the highway and I took the car to be seen by a mechanic. After allowing the mechanic to drive the vehicle I was informed the transmission was likely the problem and would need to be rebuilt. The mechanic suggested I take the vehicle to a transmission specialist. The transmission specialist said every CVT transmission from Nissan he has seen needs to be rebuilt and suggested I buy another car rather than pay $5,000.00 to have the transmission rebuilt. I called and spoke with Nissan. They said the warranty was no longer valid and they would charge $120.00 for a diagnostic plus the cost to fix the transmission. The vehicle is 7 years old and only has 87,000 miles on it. Prior to a month ago the vehicle had no issues. There has not been any visible indicator light to suggest the vehicle may need maintenance.

ON 06-23-21 my car left me stranded on the side of the road the CVT transmission wen out . I was never contacted or called or received any mail whatsoever now Nissan says that i am out of luck and good luck I am out of a car that was giving me problems for over 2 years they refuse to help or do anything about the BAD transmission

The problem in my car is ethier the transmission or transmission control module. The transmission started slipping and then suddenly on the hey of 395 north bound it simply just wouldn't do anything it had no reaction at all right in the middle of the freeway and there I was stuck people at 65-70 miles an hour whizzing by me not to mention simi trucks.tge reason I am writing is I looked up the problem at it is a very common problem with this year and make of the car. I went to nissan here in reno nv and they will not honor the recall sayes it is because of a branded title. The car had been wrecked only damaging the front bumper. Nothing to the motor or transmission was rebuilt but because it had previously been turned in as an insurance claim nissan of reno will NOT honor the recall. Any damage that was done was cosmetic not to the motor or transmission. I would like to know if nissan should honor the recalls on my vehicle. It has 98,000 miles on it and falls under the 10 year under 120,000 miles. The service person I talked to treated me like I was dumb and pretty much pushed me out the door and told me that they don't have to honor it. I am tempted to get ahold of previous owner to see if his insurance claim had anything to do with this transmission issue. It has one complaint after another on YouTube over this very issue. TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED AT 101000 MILES, THE NEW TRANSMISSION FAILED AT 109000 MILES. NISSAN WILL NOT REPAIR IT AGAIN. THE FIRST TRANSMISSION HAD PROBLEMS SHIFTING TO HIGHER GEARS. THE SECOND TRANSMISSION FAILED AFTER BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. IT WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD.

I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 30 MILES/HOUR, THERE WAS A SOUND AND THE CAR SHUT DOWN, ENGINE STOPPED, LOST POWER STEERING AND BRAKE BECAME HEAVY, NO LIGHTS IN SPEEDOMETER AND INDICATORS WENT OFF/BLACK SCREEN. BRAKES WERE SOFT BUT I WAS ABLE TO STOP. I RESTARTED THE ENGINE AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE. THEN I WAS ON A FREEWAY ABOUT 20 MIN LATER, DRIVING 65 MILES/HOUR AND THE CAR MADE A BIG NOISE, SHOOK AS IF I DROVE ON A POTHOLE, AND IT WAS THE SAME THING. NO ENGINE, ACCELERATOR DIDN'T WORK, I WAS COASTING, LOST POWER STEERING, AND HARD TO PUSH DOWN BREAKS. POWER IN THE PANELS WERE OFF. I WAS ABLE TO USE EMERGENCY SIGNAL, PULLED OVER EVENTUALLY AND WAITED FOR ABOUT 3-4 MIN. BEFORE RESTARTING THE CAR. IT WORKED AGAIN AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE. THE SAME THING HAPPENED LAST YEAR, AND TODAY IT HAPPENED TWICE. BOTH TIMES, IT WAS A HOT DAY.

IT ALL BEGAN WITH AN EXTENDED WARRANTY PHONE CALL ABOUT AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH MY CAR. I WENT TO MY JOB INTERVIEW THEN TOOK IT STRAIGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP I'M PURCHASING IT FROM LOYDS USED AUTOMOTIVE WHERE THEY SENT ME TO CHAPMAN'S AUTOMOTIVE THESE PLACES ARE LOCATED IN HOT SPRINGS ARKANSAS WHERE ALL OF THIS OCCURRED. I LATER TRIED TO CALL THE WARRANTY PHONE NUMBER BACK AND IT SAID NOBODY WAS AVAILABLE TO TAKE MY CALL.

I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY, AND NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE STARTED LOSING POWER AND STEERING. THE VEHICLE THEN SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. AFTER THIS INCIDENT, I PARKED THE CAR, AND IT STOPPED RESPONDING AND WOULD NO LONGER TURN ON.

NISSAN VERSA IS TUGGING/MISFIRING DURING NORMAL DRIVING. THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT SHIFT PROPERLY, RPM GETS STUCK AT AROUND 3500-4500 AT ABOUT 35-40 MPH. ONCE UNSTUCK, THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS HARD LIKE A CRUNCHING SOUND, WHICH SOUNDS LIKE METAL GRINDING METAL, NOT PROPERLY ENGAGING SHIFTING. THE MILEAGE IS CURRENTLY AT 90K. THE ISSUE STARTED AROUND A MONTH AGO. THE ISSUE HAS GOTTEN TO THE POINT THAT THE VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE.

THE CAR DOESN'T ACCELERATE WHEN TAKING OFF SOMETIME. IT SOMETIMES WIIL NOT GO OVER 40 MPH. ITS CODING A INPUT SPEED SENSOR INSIDE OF THE TRANSMISSION

VERSA TRANSMISSION STARTED TO MALFUNCTIONING AT AROUND 84,000 MILES AND NOT CODE ON DASHBOARD. CALLED NISSAN FOR WARRANTY BUT THEY SAID NOT IN WARRANTY MILES ANYMORE. I THINK NISSAN SHOULD WARM BUYER AND DRIVERS ABOUT TRANSMISSION PROBLEM WITH DASHBOARD INDICATIONS.

MY VEHICLE SHUTS OFF ON ME WHEN DRIVING AND IT HAPPENS SPORADICALLY. DRIVING ON CITY STREET LOSS ACCELERATION WHEEL LOCKS.

THE CAR TURNS OFF WHILE DRIVING AND WAITING AT A STOP SIGN OR RED LIGHT. STUDDERING OCCURS WITH EXCELERATION. THERE IS ALSO AN ELECTRICAL DRAW SOMEWHERE. IF THE CAR IS NOT DRIVEN IN 3 DAYS, THE BATTERY MUST BE JUMP STARTED. WE HAVE REPLACED THE BATTERY. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM SINCE 2017

A RECALL JOB, TRANSMISSION COMPUTER UPGRADE, WAS COMPLETED BY TRACY NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND NOW MY NISSAN VERSA WILL GO NO FASTER THAN 10 MPH. NO INDICATIONS OF TRANSMISSION FAILURE WERE DISPLAYED UPON COMPLETION OF THE RECALL CORRECTION. THIS CAR IS ONLY SIX YEARS OLD WITH APPROXIMATELY 102,640 MILES. A COMPLAINT HAS BEEN LOGGED WITH NISSAN, BUT MY EFFORTS HAVE BEEN INEFFECTIVE THUS FAR. THE CAR WAS DRIVEN TO THE TRACY NISSAN DEALERSHIP ON 10/20/2020 AND KEPT OVER NIGHT. ON 10/21/2020, THE RECALL WAS COMPLETE AND THE NISSAN WAS DRIVEN AWAY. LESS THAN 20 MINUTES LATER, THE TRANSMISSION EXPERIENCED A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE WHILE DRIVEN ON THE FREEWAY. THE CAR WOULD GO NO FASTER THAN 10 MPH. ON THE SAME DATE, 10/21/2020, THE NISSAN WAS TOWED BACK, AT MY EXPENSE, TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT IS CURRENTLY LOCATED PENDING DISCISSIONS WITH NISSAN.

MY NISSAN VERSA 2014 HAD TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED WITH ONLY A LITTLE OVER 80,000 MILE'S ON IT. AFTER RESEARCH THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE FOR NISSAN CRV TRANSMISSIONS FOR VEHICLES INCLUDING MY MAKE AND MODEL. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AT THE TIME OF THE ISSUE ON A SECONDARY ROADWAY.

GEARSHIFT WILL NOT COME OUT OF PARK, HAVE TO MANUALLY UNLOCK THE GEARSHIFT WITH A PAPER CLIP; CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE CORRELATIONAL TO THE GAS PEDAL, AND THE RPMS GO REALLY HIGH ON INCLINES/HILLS...NISSAN SAYING NOT RESPONSIBLE/NO RECALLS, BUT I'M STILL GETTING 'CLAIMS NOTICES' FROM GM ECONOMIC SETTLEMENT CLAIMS CENTER...THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP TOLD ME TO "DISREGARD" THE NOTICES COMING IN THE MAIL....

VEHICLE HAS STARTED TO LOSE ACCELERATION POWER. STARTED HESITATING TO ACCELERATE AND TOOK LONG TO SHIFT (THIS IS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION) GOT ON THE INTERSTATE AND CAR STARTED JERKING AND WOULD NOT GO PAST 10-15 MPH. PULLED OVER, BROUGHT GEARS BACK DOWN TO THE PARK POSITION, BUT THAT ONLY MADE IT WORSE. CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO GEAR AND HAS BEEN STUCK NOW FOR A WEEK. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 NISSAN VERSA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNDISCLOSED SPEED, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED TO THE FLOORBOARD HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HESITATED AND STALLED WITH AN UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 180,000.

IN MY 2014 NISSAN VERSA SEDAN THERE WAS A SCREECHING NOISE AT ANY POINT OF ACCELERATION THINKING IT WAS THE BRAKES. I GOT THE BRAKES CHANGED BUT THE NOISE WAS STILL THERE. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS SOMETHING WITH THE TRANSMISSION. THE CVT TRANSMISSION THAT HAS CAUSED NOT ONLY ME BUT SO MANY OTHER PEOPLE PROBLEMS AS WELL. ONE OF THE BELTS IN THE TRANSMISSION IS SCREECHING AND CAUSING OTHER THINGS IN MY CAR TO NOT FUNCTION AS WELL. THIS IS NOT OKAY TO KNOW AND SELL A CAR WITH A TRANSMISSION THAT IS KNOWN TO FAIL SOON. I GOT THE CAR IS NOW AT 106,000 MILES. IT MAKES ME SCARED TO KNOW I DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO GET A NEW TRANSMISSION AND THAT THE CAR CAN GO AT ANY TIME.
