2017 Mercedes-Benz AMG C63

Defect. Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2014-2020 C-Class, CLA, GLA, S-Class, GLC, and GLE vehicles. Please refer to MBUSA's recall report for specific vehicle details. The front roof panel located between the windshield and the panoramic sunroof may not have been bonded correctly to the vehicle during a prior repair, allowing the front panel to detach from the vehicle.

Risk. A detached roof panel can become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will replace the front panel, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on August 2, 2024. Owner notification letters will be mailed in phases, on, March 22,2024, and August 2, 2024. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372. This recall is an expansion of NHTSA recall number 21V-197.

Defect. Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2017-2020 C300 Coupe, C43 Coupe AMG, C43 AMG, 2015-2020 C300, GLA250, 2016-2018 C350e, CLA45 Coupe AMG, 2015 C400, S65 AMG, 2015-2019 C63 AMG, 2016 C450, 2015-2016 GLA45 AMG, S600, 2016-2020 GLC300, 2017-2019 GLC43 AMG, GLE43 Coupe AMG, 2014-2019 CLA250 Coupe, 2014-2015 CLA45 AMG, 2018 GLC63 AMG, 2014-2017 S550, 2018-2020 S450, 2016-2019 GLE63 Coupe AMG, 2016 GLE450 Coupe, 2014-2020 S63 AMG, 2018-2019 S560, and 2019 GLC350e vehicles equipped with a panoramic sunroof. The front roof panel located between the windshield and the panoramic sunroof may not have been bonded correctly to the vehicle during a prior repair.

Risk. The adhesive bonding of the front panel might deteriorate, possibly causing the front panel to detach from the vehicle and become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Mercedes-Benz dealer will remove the bonded panel and will install a new front panel by following the detailed repair instructions and using the approved primer, cleaner and adhesive, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on September 3, 2021 and October 26, 2021. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372.

Defect. Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2016 - 2021 CLA-Class, GLA-Class, GLE-Class, GLS-Class, SLC-Class, A-Class, GT-Class, C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, CLS-Class, SL-Class, B-Class, GLB-Class, GLC-Class, and G-Class vehicles. Please refer to the Part 573 report for specific vehicle model details. The software design of the communication module may fail to communicate the correct vehicle location for the emergency call system (eCall) in the event of a crash.

Risk. Failure of the eCall system may result in emergency responders being dispatched to the wrong location, increasing the risk of injury following a crash.

Remedy. MBUSA will notify owners, and the communication module software will be updated by a dealer, or through an over-the-air (OTA) update, free of charge. The recall began March 12, 2021. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-877-762-8267. MBUSA's number for this recall is 2021020025.

Defect. Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2017-2021 C300, 2017-2020 AMG C43, and AMG C63 vehicles. The front seat belts might not fully retract to their stowed position. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."

Risk. If the seat belt does not fully retract, the occupant may find the operation of the seat belt inconvenient and not wear it, increasing the risk of injury in the event of a crash.

Remedy. MBUSA will notify owners, and dealers will check the retraction function of the front seat belts and adjust the damping foam within the B-pillars, as necessary, free of charge. Defect. Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (Mercedes) is recalling certain 2017-2018 Mercedes-Benz C300 Cabriolet, C300 Coupe, AMG C43 Coupe, C300 4MATIC Cabriolet, C300 4MATIC Coupe, AMG C43 Cabriolet, AMG C63 Cabriolet, AMG C63 Coupe, AMG C63 S Cabriolet and AMG C63 S Coupe vehicles and 2018 Mercedes-Benz E400 Coupe, E400 Cabriolet, E400 4MATIC Cabriolet and E400 4MATIC Coupe vehicles. The seatbacks of the front seats may not properly lock on the right side of the seat.

Risk. If the seatback does not properly lock, in the event of a crash, the seatbacks may fold forward, increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy. Mercedes will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the locking of the seatback on the affected vehicles and replace the seatback lock, as necessary, free of charge. An interim owner letter was mailed on April 12, 2019 to notify owners. Owners will receive a second notification when the remedy is available. Defect. Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2015-2016 Mercedes Benz C300, 2017-2019 C300 Cabrio, C300 Coupe, C63 Cabrio, 2015 C63S AMG, 2018-2019 C300, C350e, C63 AMG, C63S AMG Cabrio, 2018 C63 AMG Cabrio, C63 AMG Coupe, C63S AMG, C63S AMG Coupe, E300, E400 Cabrio, E400 Coupe, 2019 CLS450, E450 Cabrio, and E450 Coupe rear-wheel drive vehicles. A locknut in the steering rack may break under high load, possibly causing the steering to become stuck in one position.

Risk. A car that cannot be properly steered has an increased risk of a crash.

Remedy. MBUSA will notify owners, and dealers will replace the steering rack, free of charge. The recall began August 23, 2019. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372. MBUSA's number for this recall is 2019080012.

Defect. Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2017-2018 Mercedes C300 Cabriolet, C300 4Matic Cabriolet, C43 AMG Cabriolet, C63S AMG Cabriolet, and C63 AMG Cabriolet vehicles. Due to a bonding issue introduced in the production process, the rear beltline trim may separate from the vehicle.

Risk. If the beltline trim were to separate from the vehicle while driving, it could become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. MBUSA will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the rear beltline trim and replace the trim if necessary, free of charge. The recall began on September 21, 2018. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372.

Defect. Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2017-2018 C43 AMG 4Matic Coupe, C300 Coupe, C300 4Matic Coupe, C300 4Matic Cabriolet, C300 Cabriolet, C43 AMG 4Matic Cabriolet and C63S AMG Cabriolet, 2017 C63 AMG Cabriolet, C63S AMG Coupe and C63 AMG Coupe, 2018 E400 Coupe and E400 4Matic Coupe vehicles. The seatbacks of the front seats may not properly lock on the right side of the seat.

Risk. If the seatback does not properly lock, in the event of a crash, the seatbacks may fold forward, increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy. MBUSA will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the locking of the seatbacks, replacing the seatbacks lock, as necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin May 25, 2018. Defect. Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2015-2016 C63 AMG, 2015-2017 C63S and 2017 C63S AMG Coupe and C63 AMG Cabrio vehicles. The rear axle differential mounting flange may fracture from repeated aggressive launches.

Risk. A fractured rear axle mounting flange can cause the rear differential to become misaligned, possibly resulting in failure of the driveshaft and a loss of propulsion, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. MBUSA will notify owners, and dealers will update the vehicle's stability system software and chassis control unit software, free of charge. The recall began on November 20, 2017. MBUSA's number for this recall is 2017110002. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-877-496-3691.

The driver's air bag may unexpectedly deploy due to insufficient grounding of the steering components if an electrostatic discharge occurs and the air bag clockspring is broken.

Risk. If the driver air bag inadvertently deploys, it can increase the risk of injury and a crash.

Remedy. MBUSA will notify owners, and dealers will add sufficient grounding to the steering components, free of charge. The recall began in December 6, 2017. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-877-496-3691.

The car was parked on my driveway, As soon as i started it, I got a message 'The electronic rear axle differential lock is inoperative' NHTSA previously issued a recall for 2017 C63s AMG models. I purchased this vehicle from Carvana in April 2021 with clean single owner carfax. The manufacture warranty has expired. I have seen lots of posts on Mercedes forum talking about this issue where Mercedes did fix the issue free of cost. Since there is no open recall on my vehicle, I am not sure what to do.

The electronic rear axle differential lock is inoperative; NHTSA previously issued a recall but I was never given a date to fix by the manufacturer.

THIS CAR IS NOT EQUIPPED WITH ENOUGH PROTECTION FOR THE FRONT RADIATORS TO PREVENT DAMAGE FROM DEBRIS. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE FOR 2017 AND UP VEHICLES. THE RADIATOR SEEMS TO BE VERY FRAGILE DUE TO THE DESIGN AND THERE HAVE BEEN MANY REPORTS OF THE ISSUE, BUT CLAIMS ARE DENIED DUE TO BEING 'ROAD DEBRIS' BUT MERCEDES-BENZ FAILS TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE WITH MULTIPLE CLASSES OF THEIR CARS. MY CAR HAS 27K MILES AND IS JUST OUTSIDE THE WARRANTY PERIOD. THE RADIATOR IS LEAKING IN MULTIPLE PLACES.

ON MARCH 8, 2018 MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. WHILE DRIVING TO A MEETING THE RIGHT REAR WHEEL OF THE VEHICLE LOCKED UP SENDING THE VEHICLE INTO A 360-DEGREE SPIN. ALL SAFETY FEATURES IN THE VEHICLE FAILED. NO BRAKES, NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED ON IMPACT. ON OR AROUND OCTOBER 21ST OF 2018. MY VEHICLE IS INVOLVED IN A SECOND ACCIDENT. THE CIRCUMSTANCES OF THE VEHICLE ARE IDENTICAL. WHILE ON MY WAY TO A MEETING THE RIGHT REAR WHEEL GOT LOCKED WHICH SENT THE CAR INTO A 360-DEGREE SPIN. BRAKES, STABILITY CONTROL FAIL, THE CAR ACCELERATED WHILE APPLYING BRAKES, AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLPOY ON IMPACT. AFTER THE ACCIDENT I REQUESTED MBUSA TO DISPATCH A SOFTWARE ENGINEER TO HAVE THE ONBOARD ELECTRONICS EXAMINED FOR A POSSIBLE DEFECT. MBUSA ALONG WITH THE MANUFACTURER ARE REFUSING TO HAVE AN ENGINEER SENT. THE DEALERSHIP IS ENGAGED IN DECEITFUL TACTICS IN THEIR COMMUNICATIONS WITH MBUSA LLC. THE DEALERSHIP HAS LIED MULTIPLE TIMES TO MBUSA STATING I AM NOT SHOWING UP TO PRESCRIBED MEETINGS. I HAVE SHOWED ON TIME ON THE DATE THE MEETINGS WITH THE ENGINEER WAS SUPPOSED TO TAKE PLACE AND HAVE A WITNESS. ON THE NIGHT OF THE SECOND ACCIDENT THE VEHICLE WAS BROKEN INTO TWICE. THE DEALERSHIP STAFF HAVE CHANGED THE RIGHT REAR TIRE ON THE VEHICLE TO MAKE IT APPEAR AS THOUGH IT WAS THE TIRE'S FAULT. THE PURCHASE RECEIPT FOR THE TIRE AND THE DOT NUMBERS DO NOT MATCH THE DOT NUMBER CURRENTLY ON A TIRE REPLACED BY THE STAFF. MBUSA ALLEGES IT IS THE TIRES FAULT WITHOUT PROVIDING ANY SCIENTIFIC
