Engine failed without warning on a trip to urgent care with our daughter. Was running normally, then started losing some acceleration and knocking loudly. Further inspection showed almost no oil in car, with no evidence of a leak. Car is parked in same spot on driveway daily and there isn’t even a drop of leaked oil. Both the loss of power on the freeway and failure with no warning during an emergency left us and others at risk. Our son, a certified mechanic, has confirmed a thrown rod bearing. It failed October 6, Kia can’t even look at it until the 26th. I’m currently incurring the cost of a rental vehicle in addition to the cost of replacing the engine. No warning lights were illuminated before the failure, and none are illuminated after the failure.
We were driving with FIVE kids and my 2016 Sedona lost power while driving & wouldn't accelerate over 30mph. Drove home couldn't go over 30 mph even with the pedal to the floor. Got home, checked oil and it was bone dry. Check engine light NEVER came on and the oil light NEVER came on. The check engine light only came on AFTER it lost power and went into limp mode. Oil was not leaking as I park on a concrete driveway and would have seen any leaks immediately. $2,000 later at the mechanic (they replaced value covers and sensors) and the check engine light still wouldn't go off and the car continued to lose power after driving for about 20-30 minutes. I can turn the car off, wait a few minutes, turn it back on and it runs FINE for a while (20 mins. max). Also, the car runs absolutely fine until it loses power. No noises, no knocking, nothing to indicate there is an engine issue. The mechanic who couldn't fix it recommended; I take it to the dealer for a complete diagnostic workup. After a week at the Kia dealer with little to no feedback / info as to what was going on, I was finally given an estimate for $7,800 worth of repairs and told that still may not fix the issue as there could be internal engine failure because it ran out of oil. After a cursory google search, this appears to be a common problem with the Kia 3.3 GDI engines like mine. There were recalls and Kia extended the engine warranties on various other models with the same engines due to the exact same issue, but t
Vehicle's paint has been peeling off or delaminating specifically near ALL the window glasses. The worse affected area which has started getting rust spots. Below and above the sliding door glasses have started peeling off and starting to show primer or under layer as well as below the back door window. I have only gotten quotes for temporary solution which would be to paint current affected areas. But after researching many articles online, this seems to me a common issue people have been complaining not only on these areas my vehicle has. So I am thinking this might happen to other areas of the vehicle which would require a full repaint job.
The vehicle started making a rattling noise, but there were no lights on the dash at all!. My husband checked the oil and there was no oil. (It wasn't even due for an oil change yet.) Even after adding 5 quarts of oil, the engine threw a rod through the oil pan while it was being driven down the road. Then the engine caught on fire. Thankfully, my husband was able to get the car to the side of the road without causing an accident or getting burned. There were chunks of metal and oil sprayed all over the road. We had to have it towed and upon an independent mechanic's inspection, found out that the engine was completely destroyed and would have to be replaced and would probably cost about $8,500 (not including the added cost of a rental vehicle while the engine is replaced.) We had just had the oil leak recall completed in May and the local Kia dealership said everything was fine. My husband attempted to call Kia directly as well as the local Kia dealership, but no resolution has been reached.
A few weeks ago, we were taking FIVE kids to the beach (a one-hour drive) when after about 25 minutes, the van (2016 Kia Sedona SXL with a 3.3L V6 GDI engine) would not accelerate above 35MPH. We drove it home in "limp mode" on the shoulder and going 30MPH. I took it to my regular mechanic who informed me the engine oil was completely dry and the recommended $1900 in repairs to replace damaged valve covers and sensors. After picking it up, the check engine light came on only a few miles from the mechanic. I took it back and they recommended taking it to Kia for a complete diagnostic workup. After a week at the dealership, they gave me an estimated repair bill of just under $8,000 and stated after all that work then engine could possibly still not work due to total engine failure because it ran out of oil. I get the oil changed on a regular basis. absolutely NO warning lights came on prior to the vehicle failing to accelerate onto a busy highway. We had five kids in the car - two of which were friends of my kids. We were lucky that no one was zooming by when we tried to merge onto the highway because the engine completely lost power. It could have been a very dangerous situation. Now, after reading literally HUNDREDS of posts and complaints stating the EXACT same issue, I'm wondering why Kia has not recalled this particular model of car. They have, however, recalled the exact same engine in different models. I'm genuinely confused as to why SO many people are having the EXACT
I was driving on 2 two lane highway and starting to go up an incline. All of a sudden the vehicle started making a low rumble type sound and even though my foot was on the accelerator, the vehicle would not continue to drive. Everything basically stopped working. I was able to pull over onto the shoulder and put the vehicle in park. The engine light started blinking and then several lights started coming on. I turned the vehicle off for a few minutes and the restarted. Same thing happened. The engine light came on and the vehicle would not go after I put it in drive. Same rumble as well. I was able to get it towed to a trusted independent mechanic. After checking out the vehicle, he found there was no oil. What? We get it serviced on a regular basis and wasn't due for an oil change. There was NO WARNING LIGHT to alert me that the oil was gone. This ruined our engine. Our mechanic stated Motor is bad, no compression on 2 4 6 bank of engine. There was only 126,xxx miles on this vehicle. I am beyond upset as the vehicle is still in great condition and will now have to spend almost $5,000 on a replacement engine with 100,000 plus $1,000 in labor. This is unacceptable!!!!!
Engine caught fire while traveling on the highway. It was towed to the dealer. Dealer told us that engine failure and fire had been caused by oil leak, which occurred even with us bringing the car in for routine maintenance regularly and as recommended by Kia. Yes, our safety was put at risk as our engine failed and caught fire while we were traveling at high speed on a highway. There was no warning prior to this happening, and I had just brought the car into the dealer for routine maintenance within two weeks prior to the fire. With that said, I had been bringing the car to the dealer for routine maintenance regularly and bringing to their attention that the "low oil" warning light would appear intermittently, which it should not have done as I WAS bringing the car in for regular maintenance and oil changes. They did not seem to feel that that was an issue and would replenish the oil and send us on our way.
While driving down the road, the car started sputtering and smoking. There were no warning lights on the dash, or irregular readings. My son pulled over and flames were coming from underneath the vehicle. Upon immediate inspection, there was an oil trail in the road behind the vehicle and pieces of the rod and oil pan. They said it looked like the engine threw a rod, damaging the oil pan, and causing the fire. We are still awaiting an independent inspection and solution from Kia, but they’re taking their time. Thankfully my son was able to exit the vehicle quickly and safely.
My car was at a stop sign. Upon accelerating after the stop, the engine stopped working without any warning. There were no warning indicators that there was a problem prior to the car ceasing to work. Itook the car to my usual mechanic and he indicated that the engine would need to be replaced. In his assessment, at only 68,800 miles, the engine should not have been an issue. The car has been at a local dealership for a week now, and I am waiting to hear their assessment of this situation. The car stopped directly in the middle of an intersection, and prior to this we were on the a highway. This would have been a much more significant issue had it stopped in the middle of the highway. Additionally as there were no warning lights prior to the issue, a driver would have no indication that there is a problem.
Our Kia Sedona had the cooling fan harness negative Cable melt and caused making our engine overheat. When we took our vehicle to get serviced they told us that the cooling fan harness melted and then it's a common problem with kias. They fixed the pigtail cooling fan harness but are cooling fan does not turn on anymore and they said that it is now an electrical issue and this was from a Kia dealership in Dodge City Kansas. They recently did a recall on sliding doors because they weren't shutting all the way and it worked for exactly one day after the recall and now it's back to not shutting and making a really loud noise when it attempts to shut. When this happens we can't lock our doors because the doors won't lock when doors open and we have to constantly shut off our interior lights so that they don't stay on because the doors don't shut. We've notified the Kia dealership that have done our recall on it and told them that it didn't fix it but they refuse to make it right. We only have 106,000 MI I've got a new cooling fan resistor and put it in and a new pigtail harness and put it in but the cooling fan is still not turning on the low speed and the air conditioner doesn't work either. Our engine constantly smells very hot but it doesn't indicate that it's overheating. We haven't had this vehicle for very long and because of all the problems we've had with it are considering on getting another vehicle and we're considering a carnival but are afraid to because of the way Ki
Hello NHTSA representative, The dealership Lupient KIA in Glendale, WI closed the recall campaign SC175 and the action required was not performed. The KIA customer care closed the case 15510583 without explanation and when contacted opening a different one 15502908 mentioned that the car is out of warranty and they do not care any more. I am looking for your support to get KIA reviewed this anomaly in this dealership and obviously leave a precedent ahead of repairing the vehicle as the diagnosis of the failure cost 295usd plus the repair. According to the safety recall campaign under number SC175 (REV 1 03/20/2019) for KIA SEdona, that can be consulted in https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2019/RCRIT-19V109-3930.pdf, the clip should have been cut during the recall but the clip is still present and there is an error and a broken harness in my vehicle. See picture as evidence that the clip was not removed according to the instructions at the KIA dealership. The safety recall states on step 3 to "Carefully detach the ODS connector retaining clip (B) closest to the ODS connector." and on step 4 to "Carefully cut the retaining clip between the wiring harness and the clip head (C) using side-cutter pliers and discard the clip head. Allow the wiring harness to move freely. Do not replace the retaining clip or secure the harness." as you can see in the attached picture the clip is uncut. In case during the previous safety recall the seat was changed, the statement for the clip is equiv
Both automatic passenger sliding doors do not shut completely after last recall was completed to fix them.
The engine failed. It burned through all of the oil, didn't give any warnings or light and just died.
While driving engine started making a rattling noise and then died. Checked and there was no oil. No warning lights came on at all. No oil light, no check engine light; nothing. Van only has 96,000 miles. Service is performed regularly on van. Was 2 hours away from home and had to have vehicle towed. After researching I found that the 3.3 liter engines on some Kias are failing due to oil starvation caused by the oil light sensor not coming on. Kia has addressed this issue in some of their other vehicles but have yet to add the Sedonas to the engine recall. Now I’m stuck with a vehicle that more than likely needs a new engine and a company that will not take responsibility for their failure to include the Sedonas in the engine recall.
The engine oil leaking for any anywhere, first look like transmission fluid leaking, but clear it didn't find any leaking, and check engine oil tank didn't find any leaking, find from recall have same problem but not my Vin number, and in my car didn't show warning light.
The contact owns a 2016 Kia Sedona. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 MPH, the passenger’s side sliding door failed to lock and opened. The door ajar warning light was illuminated. The contact had to manually close the door. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where an unknown diagnosis was provided. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
Was driving down the highway on a road trip and the Sedona developed an engine rattle. Pulled over into the nearest gas station to inspect. I checked the oil and the oil was 3 quarts low -- even though my vehicle received regular oil changes/maintenance! I filled up but the damage was too far gone; motor had a clanking noise and would not stay started. Had vehicle towed to my dealership where it still is awaiting a motor swap. Dealership confirmed engine damage and recommended the full swap. It's been 3 weeks. Kia has no open recall for this even though a growing number of Sedona owners are experienced the same issues.
* The red airbag dash light comes on only when there is a passenger in the front passenger seat. The "OFF" light by the passenger air bag sign goes off like it should, symbolizing the airbag is turned in. However, the light on the dash coming on has me worried it is defective. *If the passenger airbag does not deploy if needed, that could risk serious injury or death. *This van was sold to us two day ago by a Kia dealership who said it passed all safety inspections. However, since the light only comes on when there is a front passenger, I'm sure it was overlooked. *I am in contact with the dealership we purchased it from. I have not heard back yet. *The warning light came on the first time I had a passenger in the vehicle after purchasing it.
The contact owns a 2015 Kia Sedona. The contact stated that on various occasions, the gear shift lever seized. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the shift lever assembly needed to be replaced. The contact became aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V612000 (Power Train); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The contact was informed by the mechanic that the gear shifter failed to shift into drive(D). The vehicle remained at the dealer awaiting the repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000.
Headlights will shut off while driving. This sometimes will occur on its own, other times, it appears to be caused when using the turn signal lever. The lights will come back on by touching/moving the lever. This is dangerous and could lead to an accident.
WE HAVE A 2016 KIA SEDONA, BOUGHT IN 2017 AS A KIA CERTIFIED. WE HAVE HAD SEVERAL RECALLS SINCE OUR OWNERSHIP. FOR THE LAST 2-3 YEARS WE HAVE DRIVEN IT SPARINGLY. WE TOOK IT TO THE KIA DEALERSHIP FOR REGULAR OIL CHANGE AT 97,000 + MILES. THERE WAS NO MENTION OF ANY MAJOR ENGINE CONCERNS. WE AGAIN TOOK IT IN TO THE KIA DEALERSHIP, FOR A SPARE TIRE CABLE ISSUE AT 99,186 MILES AGAIN NO MENTION OF ENGINE ISSUES. THE KIA DEALERSHIP PERFORMED A MULTIPOINT INSPECTION, AND REPAIRED A TURN SIGNAL ISSUE, AND SUGGESTED SOME OTHER MAINTENANCE ITEMS, THAT WOULD NEED ATTENTION SOON, BRAKES ECT. AT 102,866, WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A REPAIR SHOP, WE HAVE USED BEFORE, FOR AN OIL CHANGE. WE WERE INFORMED THAT SOMEONE HAD PUT STOP LEAK IN THE COOLANT SYSTEM. THEY SAID WE SHOULD TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A HEAD GASKET ISSUE. WE TOOK IT TO ANOTHER FULL SERVICE SHOP, WHERE, THEY DIDN'T DETECT A COOLANT LEAK. WE DID NOTICE COOLANT WAS RUNNING LOW, BUT NONE WAS SPOTTED ON THE GROUND. WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE PREVIOUS REPAIR SHOP, WHERE THEY INFORMED US OF A POSSIBLE BLOWNED HEAD GASKET, BUT COULDN'T CONFIRM, BECAUSE OF OIL ALL OVER THE UNDER CARRIAGE, THROUGH ALL OF THIS THERE WERE NO WARNING SIGNAL OR LIGHTS, UNTIL THE TEMP GAGE MOVED TOWARDS HIGH AND THE OIL LIGHT FLICKERED A COUPLE OF TIMES. WE WERE TOLD THAT THE ENGINE WAS PROBABLY SHOT. THE VEHICLE IS AGAIN AT THE KIA DEALERSHIP. NO RESOLVE YET. WE NOW UNDERSTAND THAT THAT KIA HAS RECALLED QUITE A NUMBER OF THEIR VEHICLES FOR SIMULAR ENGINE IS
The taillight housings accumulate standing water due to cracking of the plastic on the back of the tail light housing. This water leads to corrosion of the brake light bulb socket, which then leads to an inoperative brake light.
BOTH SLIDING DOORS OPEN UP WHEN GOING DOWN THE ROAD AND BOTH SLIDING DOORS WILL NOT SHUT ALL THE WAY UNLESS U PUSH ON THEM HARD TO SHUT BUT THEY WILL STILL OPEN UP REGARDLESS
1)The airbags failed at time of accident, yes is available for inspection. 2)This is a family car (KIA Sedona 2016) with kids in the car ..if the airbags not working at time of an impact, could and up in deadly/fatality accident. 3) No. 4)The vehicle has been inspected by police and insurance. 5) no warning or issues show anywhere to advise of issue, this car has not been involve in any accident before. Last time took the car to dealer was 1 month ago… November 2022
The go bad ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement: REPLACE REAR DRIVER WHEEL SPEED SENSOR FOR ABS ISSUE 2.0 Engine light went on then off. Car overheated and blew a head gasket and ruining engine. The engine light was off. There was no warning before this car overheated. And it overheated fast!
I was driving the car and noticed a smell. I looked down and saw the the temperature gauge was in the red zone but there were no dashboard lights or any sounds to let me know there was a problem . I pulled over and called AAA. They took the car to a AAA repair shop. The repair shop called me and said the head gasket was blown and that the car needed a new engine as the cost to repair would be even more money.
My 2016 Kia Sedona has only 79900 miles on it, yet needs an engine replacement. It is experiencing the EXACT same issues as the other kia engines that have been recalled/replaced by kia, yet they will not help fix it, because "there are no problems with my engine, but there are with the other kia engines" A vehicle should not need a new engine at 79000 miles. There were zero warnings to this. No check engine lights. No oil lights. Nothing. In fact there are still no lights, even after having this problem diagnosed at the dealer. If my engine fails in the middle of the road, I am putting myself, my 4 children, my husband, and anyone else on the road at risk. This should not be happening at such low mileage, especially with no warning lights. The dealer confirms I need a new engine. Other auto shops claim kia should cover this repair because this engine is defective.
Headlights will randomly turn off and flicker on and off. Has happened multiple times and on dark roads
Car has a strong gas smell coming from front area through vents, when opened hood strong gas is smelled. Car is now stalling when starting. Afraid that car will burst into flames and explode. I have read that there was a recall due to cracked fuel rail but my 2016 does not fall within the model years. This is ridiculous that it’s the exact same thing happening to my 2016 sedona. The smell of gas is excessive and I had to take all of my kids out of the car and now do not trust to drive it. My car was completely fine and how can something randomly crack and cause this. No light or warning indicates this issue.
The contact owns a 2016 Kia Sedona. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle made abnormally loud rattling sounds with black smoke coming from the engine. Additionally, there was oil leaking onto the ground while driving. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The dealer replaced the engine. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 117,000.
The contact owns a 2016 Kia Sedona. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the front driver’s side low-beam headlight failed to operate. The contact stated that the front driver's side low-beam headlight intermittently illuminated and then failed to operate as designed. The contact stated that he was unsure what repair was performed; however, the vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The contact then stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the front driver’s and passenger side low-beam headlights failed to operate. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the headlight assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000
Our engine on the 2016 kia sedona died and has left us stranded 3 hours from home. There was no engine/oil light warning. We have low mileage (but the light that indicates mileage also failed so we are guessing that we have between 50,000 and 60,000 miles.) We are not home but according to our phone records we definitely had oil changed in December 2021 and the oil filter is very clean. Since the pandemic we have put very few miles on the car and also did not accept many receipts for fear of contamination but we know for sure that about the oil change in December. We need the car towed to a kia dealer and we want assurances that they will replace it as part of the warranty…we have coverage for 10 years and 100,000 miles…but we can’t get a hold of anyone from corporate. We were on hold for an hour and a half yesterday and nobody picked up. Since they have had so many engine problems/recalls with vehicles from that year we felt it was necessary to report this to you to add the Sedona to the list. And…we need assurances that they will replace the engine as part of the warranty although at this point they should just replace the vehicle since I’m told they don’t make engines anymore for the Sedona. We owe $11,000 on the car so we need something done asap. Thank you. The consumer is requesting reimbursement for rentals as the vehicle has been at the dealership for 5 months awaiting repairs. The contact is still seeking reimbursement for rentals and the repairs needed. There has be
The vehicle while driving and accelerating at any given time stops accelerating even when you are pressing the accelerator all the way in. Usually occurs when I am on highways or normal roads. No check engine light or indication of failure has come up to retrieve a code and be able to diagnose the issue. I took the car to the KIA dealer service center near me, but they weren't able to fix anything, because no code came up for the issue. The not responding to acceleration has occurred multiple times for a while (Aprox. 4-5 times over the last 6 months). I am concerned as it may seem the engine is trying to stall or stop working in the middle of the road. The safety of my family and others driving behind me can be at risk because if it stops responding to the acceleration, I may need to pull to the side or may not have sufficient time to do so, causing an accident. I communicated with Kia, and they open a case report, but they advised me to submit a report to this agency.
The tail lights continue to stay on even when the car is parked and no one is pressing the brakes. The driver needs to press multiple times the brake pedal to turn them off. I constantly have to buy light bulbs for the rear-end brake lights because of this issue. The Kia Dealership Service Center check the issue and couldn't find anything other than the light bulb was out. This safety issue confuses drivers behind because it doesn't know if the person driving is braking or what.
The sliding power doors no longer function properly. The door closes, and immediately unlatches. The door can be forced closed, but can and does then unlatch while driving. Kia of Cape Coral confirmed the doors are not latching properly due to the door motors. Kia agrees the doors are covered, but refuses to remedy the issue until the motor is unable to move the doors at all.
Passenger side back, sliding door will not close securely. The risk is mainly because my grandchildren ride in those seats and the door not securing and subsequent lack of auto door locks when gear shift is moved from park is not safe. When we use that door, the indicator light on the dash is lit and the dinging bells alerts us it is NOT secure. We have to push in on the back of the door to, hear the click, get it secured. Otherwise the indicator light stays lit AND the doors will NOT lock automatically as they should.
2016 KIA SEDONA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO DEFECTIVE POWER SLIDING DOOR. THE CONSUMER STATED THE POWER SLIDING DOORS WOULD NOT PROPERLY CLOSE. THE DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE WHEN THE DOORS WERE SHUT.
The contact owns a 2016 Kia Sedona. The contact stated while sitting in the vehicle, there was smoke coming from under the hood. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the hose was ruptured and the radiator failed. Additionally, the contact stated that the engine needed to be repaired. The radiator was replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 80,900.
The contact owns a 2016 Kia Sedona. The contact stated while driving approximately 45 MPH there was raddling noise and then flames. The check engine light came on. The engine immediately caught on fire. The contact was able to pull over safely and exit the vehicle quickly with her son the passenger. The police arrived on the scene first and informed the fire department that the flames had deteriorated automatically; therefore the fire department did not arrive. Unknown if a police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to several dealers; however, the last dealer diagnosed the failure to be hole blown engine. There were no major injuries or medical reports. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure was 73,000.
Side sliding doors do not shut completely, the doors malfunction and will not open correctly as well.
Both of the back sliding doors Do not want to close all the way And sometimes the doors open when going down the road My sister is having the same problem with her doors not closing all the way
Driver-side rear powered sliding door will not latch properly. Door slid completely open during turn. Power to sliding door off at that time. Also intermittent problems with passenger side rear sliding door.
I have already repaired the paint job on the hood if the van since then it's falling off in random places.
I was driving down the road and my van made a horrible noise and stopped moving. I was able to coast to a right turn lane to get out of traffic where I realized all of the oil was on the ground under my van. After towing it to the dealer they confirmed that a rod went through the oil pan for no apparent reason. They confirmed that there was oil in the van as it was all over the engine. The check engine light never came on and the van was running perfectly fine until this happened.
The contact owns a 2016 Kia Sedona. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, there was an abnormal rattling sound coming from the engine. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and was then towed the following day to the dealer. The contact was informed by the mechanic that gasoline was leaking into the and mixing with the engine oil. Additionally, the plastic piece around the timing belt was cracked. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.
While driving I smelled a burning odor. Then my heat started blowing cold air. I immediately went to a car shop and when they opened the hood, there was white smoke. After getting 3 separate opinions, all agreed that the engine was fried and needs to be replaced. There were no warning signs, lights, etc... and this could have been a very dangerous situation if I had driven it much further because the engine could have seized up (with my 4 young kids in the car), or even possibly caught fire.
We received notice for safety recall that the tail lights and turn signal lights could fail and they needed to change something to do with computer.we took it in and left with lights working and 3days later they stopped working again.Kia is refusing to fix it on the recall but it is the same issue.
Lower brake lights not functioning. Fuse is fine (swapped with good fuse, no change). Bulbs are fine (replaced with new anyway). Top brake light bar is fine. Only L and R rear brake lights not coming on. Dealer in Anchorage, Alaska confirmed all. No warning lamps came on. Car operates fine otherwise.
The Airbag seat sensor has malfunctioned. Took the vehicle to the Kia Dealer and they advised it was a 1200.00 part plus 300 plus for labor. This started months ago and the dealer stated it was covered and they "ordered" the part. They then stated my extended warranty would cover it only to be told it doesn't cover these items. When I took the vehicle back to the dealer they said it was not covered. The airbag light is intermittent when it comes on. I am afraid this will cause a problem if I am involved in an accident. This started around 70k miles.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
