Defect. Kia America, Inc. (Kia) is recalling certain 2023-2025 Niro EV, Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV), and Hybrid vehicles. The floor wiring assembly beneath the front passenger seat may become damaged, which can prevent the front air bags and seat belts from deploying properly or cause an unintended side curtain air bag deployment.

Risk. Air bags and seat belts that deploy improperly or an air bag deploying unintentionally can increase the risk of injury in a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will inspect, replace and reroute the floor wiring assembly, as necessary, free of charge. In addition, dealers will install wiring covers. Owner notification letters were mailed February 27, 2025. Owners may contact Kia customer service at 1-800-333-4542. Kia's number for this recall is SC332.

The first time I drove this car after getting screwed in my contract , I pulled over in a pullout spot to turn around. I went to back up and it would not move. I tried everything to get it to go. There was a ed malfunction warning on the dash panel.between 5 and 10 minutes later it finally backed up and then trying to go forward did the same thing. I called Kia in medford and took it in, Noone had heard of such a thing and basically just sent me on my way. This is a brand new car. It wasn't even 3 hours and this happened. It happened again. I wanted them to take the car back for this and the fact that my contract was nothing like we agreed to. I want to give it back, already recalls and they misrepresented what they did. There was no paperwork, they didn't find it important, although I was stuck in a pullout lane twice.

Reading this record

No unusual pattern of severe incidents in the complaint record.

Complaint counts track how many cars were sold and how long they have been on the road as much as they track quality. A common model from 2013 has had a decade to accumulate reports; a rare one from last year has not. The signal worth weighing is in the severity columns, in whether the same component keeps appearing, and in whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.

Recall repairs are free for as long as the recall stands. Check whether a specific car still has open work at NHTSA's VIN lookup.
