Jeep wrangler has 46k miles, 2 years, but battery died while car was running. Would not start once car engine shut down. I was stuck in the middle of a busy intersection and was out ant risk of an collision. Upon running diagnostics, battery is fully drained and alternator is not starting. Online forms suggest it could be the alternative battery, charging the start/stop function, that died and drained the charge from the main battery. Prior to the incident, there was a low voltage warning which got worse over 2 days, until ultimately it died completely.

On Nov 16, 2024 I was driving and turned a corner as soon as I did the engine light and another light came on with a message saying do not shift or turn off. I had it towed to Capital Jeep and they said it was my main and aux battery, a week later which was yesterday 11-29-24 the same lights and message came on, I pulled into the dealership and they said it was the green bus connecter behind the glove box, then today 11-30-24 I was driving same lights and message again, however this time I could not go passed 5 miles an hour. So now it’s towed again and sitting at the dealership

Received a notice in October that there is a chance for the battery in the vehicle I currently own could start on fire. They stated they have no resolution for this at the time. I was informed not to fully charge it, not to park near buildings, and not to park near other vehicles. This is impossible for me to do at this time. I have HOA’s where I am renting that I cannot park in the street. I also have children that I do not want in this vehicle or driving this vehicle if there is such a serious malfunction that could happen. I am a special education teacher, and there’s no place for me to park where I work that is away from buildings, other vehicles and children. I called the dealership and had text messages with them. I have called the manufacturing number and was told I was put on another list and a person would call me in a day or two. Two weeks went by. I called again. I still have not had a case manager call me to let me know what my options are. I would like my money back and want to return this vehicle. I do not feel safe driving it. When applying brakes at low speed (under 20mph) pedal feels soft and brakes do not engage as expected- vehicles travels further than anticipated. At times engine races and vehicle surges forward, other times ABS malfunctions, causing tires to squeal and vehicle to lurch. There is no reason for the ABS to engage when traveling under 20mph on an even, dry road. I have had other issues such as overheating, which the dealership observed, but the computer had no trouble codes for, so I would be happy to have it inspected. The vehicle surging forward when brakes are applied is a safety concern, as is unreliable braking and the ABS engaging inappropriately. I have not been to the dealer for this issue yet, I was able to document the occurrence from my dashboard cam this weekend. I have video in my dashcam with the squealing and lurching that I can't upload.

My 4E is currently under recall for a battery/fire issue so have been relying on gas to fill the vehicle. Recently, after pumping gas for 10-15 seconds it shuts itself off at the pump and often gas spills out from the fuel neck. Jeep has had this problem on many of their vehicles for years and it is not covered warranty. There needs to be a safety recall. Its horrible I cant charge the vehicle and now I cant put gas in it either.

I received a recall that the battery may catch on fire, I do not feel safe driving the car

Electrical System
Filed Nov 11, 2024MI

My vehicle has been nearly underivable since purchased. Several times I have taken the car in for things like: No power. The car will drive, but slowly and with no "get up and go". It takes quite a bit of time to get to legal driving speed. This has happened on a highway at least once, and multiple times on regular roads. My electrical system has failed, and all components, including my battery, has shut down. This happened on the highway on my way to work. I lost time at work as well as my car for 34 days. (This is the second time it has happened). My gas tank cover refusing to open/my gas tank refusing to accept gas. My electric battery getting too hot and burning through wires, including my coolant tubes, which in turn, shut my car down. This happened on a major road. All of these things have caused immediate safety to myself and others that have been in my car when it stopped working. I have thankfully been able to get myself off the road in all of these instances without causing an accident. There have been several break downs where I had to have someone come get me, and I have had it towed several times to the dealership as well. I have broken down entirely on the highway several times, slowing to a stop and having people needing to drive around me, or stop to help. I have taken the vehicle in many, many times and have been without my car for over 40 days (if I counted, it would be over 60 days). The dealership has told me it's a 4xe problem, but then lists the problem

Recall #95B one of many since I purchased my vehicle. Cannot use it for what it was purchased for which was to use electric and save gas money. Now recall states not to plug in vehicle and that it can catch fire and explode at any time running or not. I am scared to death to drive this vehicle and have my child anywhere near it. And it is our only vehicle which costs me over $1000 a month payment I can barely afford. Its causing us extreme stress and anxiety. I have been trying for months to get rid of this vehicle which has dropped over 50% in the value.

3 months after purchase. I Driving on highway 70mph, pressed clutch peddle as I was exiting and slowing down. clutch literally combusted (and fly wheel). Jeep was smoking and smelled like fire. Coasted to side of road and rolled into gas station: car wasn’t operable and had to be towed. Thankfully not a lot of traffic as this was a very UNSAFE SITUATION FOR MYSELF AND MY DAUGHTER! Clutch and flywheel were replaced by dealer after a few weeks. No warning lights. I’ve since had TWO CLUTCHES RELACED. A TOTAL OF THREE! I have contacted chysler (denied my claim) and filed a complaint with the AG. I do NOT feel safe driving this vehicle, I have major anxiety when I am driving in Traffic because I get wanting to release the clutch peddle due to overheating. The jeep sits in the driveway whenever possible due to safety concerns. And I’m PAYING MONTHLY PAYMENTS. It’s frustrated and EXTREMELY UNSAFE!

I have received a recall notification 95B/NHTSA 24V-720 that advises I should not charge my PHEV, park away from structures or other vehicles until the remedy is obtained. However, no guidance has been provided on what to do if these precautions cannot be met. This situation is unacceptable. Receiving a recall advisory with such severe restrictions—without a solution or clear guidance on alternative safety measures—leaves customers in an impossible position. It is unreasonable to expect owners to manage these risks independently without adequate support or timely options to ensure safety and functionality. I have raised this concern with FCA and received no adequate response. I therefore would like to formerly lodge a complaint.

History since I leased this vehicle: 1. Charging cord froze to vehicle when parked at a charging station outside and would not detach until it thawed. 2. Car was recalled for a battery issue and was allegedly fixed. 3. Car later died. The battery was completely dead for no apparent reason. I had to have the vehicle towed to the dealer for the battery to be replaced. They were not able to explain why the battery died. 4. Just received another recall for a High Voltage Battery fire risk issue that they have no remedy for as of yet. We are advised not to charge the vehicle or park it near any structures or other vehicles! 5. While driving home from work, the Jeep suddenly stopped moving. The console where the shift gear is began to flash and I had to put my foot on the brake, put the car into park and then put it back into drive to get it to move again. When it went back into drive it lurched forward. Luckily no one was behind me at the time or they likely would have smashed into me or I could have caused an accident. According to online research it is another on-going problem, one article reads there are hundreds of complaints on the Jeep forums with no fix saying: When customers take their Jeeps in, the service advisors have trouble diagnosing the issue. And while Jeep has issued some recalls, the problems remain and the electric Jeeps continue to fail.

The manufacturer has not been able to remedy the batteries for electrical propulsion, saying "no remedy available ". Makes me hesitant to drive or park near other vehicles or structures. I have also complained to the dealership, where I purchased my Jeep, about a wobble/shake in the front-end when driving over bumps. After two attempts they have not been able to find a reason for or repair my vehicle. When driving in rain, this condition makes control a dangerous issue in heavy traffic. The most recent occurance was on [XXX] where the posted speed limit is 80mp, accompanied by heavy 18 wheeler traffic! I have also experienced the wobble/shake when traveling [XXX] from Texas to Louisiana, in the rain, surrounded by heavy automobile & 18 wheel traffic once again. This is a very stressful and uncomfortable situation to be in. I have experienced the wobble/shake soon after the purchase of my Jeep, still exists after several mechanical inspections at the dealership where purchased. I have also written a letter to the manufacturer, dated August 22, 2024, for these issues & the devaluation that exists with this particular model, to date I have not received a response! There is no excuse for the inability to repair or respond to my concerns! I have a copy of my letter to Customer Care for Stellantis & recall & repair documents; I am unable to upload at this time. I am writing to file a complaint regarding the recent safety recall (NHTSA Recall Numbers: 24V-720 and 24E-080) affecting my Chrysler vehicle. The recall pertains to a potential fire risk associated with the high-voltage battery pack. While I appreciate Chrysler’s efforts to address this safety concern, I have serious reservations about the effectiveness of the proposed remedy. 1.Safety Concerns: I am worried about the safety of my vehicle’s battery. The recall notice indicated that a battery pack may contain cells with separator damage that could lead to a vehicle fire. I find it concerning that the proposed remedy primarily involves a software update and inspection, rather than an immediate battery replacement, especially given the potential risks involved. 2.Request for Action: I urge the NHTSA to investigate this matter further and consider whether the proposed remedy adequately addresses the safety risks posed by the high-voltage battery. I believe that consumers deserve clear information and effective solutions when it comes to potential safety defects in their vehicles. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your prompt response regarding the steps being taken to address this safety concern.

I have a 2022 Wrangler 4xe. This weekend I rear ended a car in stop and go traffic. When I used the brake it actually felt like the car jumped forward a bit. I had to stomp on the brake pedal again as if my first attempt had no grab. More details...I was in hybrid mode with <1% battery status and max regen was on. I was going less than 10 miles an hour. Jeep has a max regeneration function that uses the engine to generate an EV battery recharge. I understand that the max regen sort of turns off when you are rolling at really low speeds, but it seems the transition to/from this is rough on the transmission or something. This only happens at low speeds (in parking lots, etc) This behavior happens intermittently but, this is the first time I was not able to stop completely before an impact occured.

On February 14, 2023, as I was driving home from work at 4:30 pm, and luckily stopped at a traffic light, my Jeep shut down and showed a charging fault while I was nowhere near a charger. I was eventually able to restart the vehicle and make it the rest of the way home. We had the software updated, so hopefully that does not happen again. I was about halfway between my place of work and my home, which are about 8 mailes apart. My vehicle had 5373 miles on it at the time of the incident. Now my car is yet again under recall at risk of fire due to the battery and I am scared to drive it and have it near my home.

We recently got the Jeep back from being serviced for a problem (P0E15-00) that seems to be a common issue with a part (hybrid/EV battery pack coolant heater) that breaks every 15-30k miles. Yay! Ours was at just over 17k miles. Now, on top of all of this, I receive a notice for our fourth recall in 2 years, for a battery that could randomly catch fire and there is no fix known yet. The charger for the Jeep is literally right outside my children's bedrooms. If I want to charge my vehicle, I am potentially risking a fire right next to where my kids sleep. If I don't plug in, the whole point of us picking the plug-in hybrid is a total waste of our money. I also have to park next to an apartment building, let alone my other coworkers' vehicles when I go to work. I now feel like my vehicle is a ticking time bomb. I would love to be able to end my lease early to get out of this nightmare. At the very least is there an option for a loaner vehicle or rental reimbursement until this potentially extremely dangerous issue is repaired?

22’ JEEP 4xE LOSS OF MOTIVE POWER Vehicle wouldn’t start for approximately 15 minutes. Showed charging system error and a battery light was on. Once vehicle started it was driven 5 minutes, parked and turned off. Within 30 minutes it was started again, and driven down the street when it lost power and indicated the speed was limited. I attempted to turn around to get back and park it when it quit in the middle of an intersection. Vehicle had a message to put it in park. I did. It wouldn’t restart or go into neutral to even push it out of the road. After about 10 minutes it started and I drove it back. It kept losing throttle and rolled opposite direction down a hill while in gear and still running. The throttle intermittently would work and rev then move forward. I backed it uphill into my driveway with it continued to roll forward and then rev the engine and reverse. When it losses power to the pedal it doesn’t rev the engine and will roll. Instrument panel and lights/entertainment still work when it does this. Mine and my children’s safety were put at risk. We called the dealer where we purchased from ‘Orangeville Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram - 207163 Highway 9 East, Orangeville ON L9W 2Z7’ was told to bring it in. I said it was extremely dangerous and unsafe to drive. I asked for them to have it towed in and they refuse to pay for the towing. There is a confirmed recall 92A for the gear position sensor on my 2022 Jeep Wrangler. I took it to River Oaks dealership in Houston to have the recall work done in March 2024. They told me the work was complete; I returned to pick up my vehicle and found out the work had not been done because they didn't have the parts, so I took my vehicle home. I'm now told that they actually ordered the parts for the recall without telling me, and I was never informed that the parts arrived at the dealership or were going to be returned after that. I have now brought my vehicle to a different dealership (Helfman in Houston) for a repair and to have that recall fixed. They are unable to order the parts from Jeep to fix the recall, because River Oaks had previously ordered them under my VIN and have most likely returned them. No one at River Oaks is willing to help in any way. The recall manager says I should have known that they received the parts in stock after I left without any kind of notification, and the parts managers won't answer or return my calls. Jeep corporate has stated that they cannot cancel the previous parts order, but that River Oaks can cancel the previous order so that Helfman can put in a new one with my VIN. River Oaks has denied this. At this point, I cannot get a mandated safety recall fixed on my Jeep because of the previous and ongoing actions of River Oaks dealership. My options are apparently to leave it at the dealership indefinitely or take it back with a safe

I own a 2022 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4xe, I purchased the vehicle new on [XXX] (purchased in TN, registered in VA). Since owning the vehicle it has been in the shop 9 times, most recently in the shop because it was completely dead and they found out the battery was leaking acid, this is the same battery they had just replaced a year earlier. It has lost all power and shut off several times, Jeep continues to say there is no issue. The loss of power is concerning because it happens when driving on busy roadways. I filed 2 lemon claims with them, both times offered $2800 for inconveniences and $3600 the last time. I have also been instructed to park the vehicle outside of my garage and told it might be a good idea to not charge it daily due to a fire hazard, when buying a hybrid, I paid extra in hopes to get better gas mileage when traveling to and from work, now I put my children's lives in jeopardy everyday while driving it! And most recently when driving across a bridge or rough roads (I live in the south so rough roads are an everyday thing), it has started shaking so badly that I have pulled off the road due to fear of the vehicle flipping or causing an accident. It is frustrating to pay for a vehicle that is a hazard and does not work properly. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
