My Jeep steering is extremely loose, and very difficult to keep between the lines on the road. If the wind is blowing, it is nearly impossible. My biggest concern however, is the wobble that occurs when on the expressway. This has now happened to me five times while traveling on the expressway at around 70-75 miles per hour. The Jeep begins to wobble back and forth and you literally loose all control of steering. The only way to get it to stop is to push on the brakes and decelerate, but it is terrifying.

My jeep moves forward by itself when the transmission is in neutral. took to dealer to be checked twice. they put the car on the lift shifted it into neutral and the back tires started spinning. they took mine out went and got a brand new jeep and put it on the lift started and put in neutral. same thing happened back wheels started spinning. while i know about this problem and can hopefully avoid any problems. what about the person who does not know. puts their vehicle in neutral and runs someone over. there are no lights or warnings.dealer is dragging their feet. this has been going on since last september i believe.searched jeep creep in neutral on google and there are other cases. i just wonder how many people have this problem and do not know. i just hope this gets fixed before someone gets run over.
When you drive the Jeep on the highway, if you hit a bump, crack or pothole, the vehicle violently shakes, through the steering wheel and tires. The entire vehicle begins shaking uncontrollably and pulls me to the right and off the road. Have had into the dealership for 7 times, and they held vehicle for over 30 days, still not resolved. Very dangerous
The contact owns a 2021 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the steering wheel and the vehicle started shaking abnormally. The contact pulled over on the side of the roadway to check for a tire blowout. The contact found no failure with the vehicle or the tires. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the mechanic stated that the vehicle had experienced the death wobble, but the vehicle was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 20,000.
Driving own I95, heading south in Maryland, hit a bump and vehicle started shaking/wobbling, almost lost control and had to slow down until vehicle stopped wobbling. This happen 6-9 times that day. Also has occurred several times in NJ on the turnpike and 280. Contracted Jeep HQ, told to contact a dealer.
My 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe died while driving down the road. Luckily I was able to coast to the side and cycle the engine off/on in order to regain power. This was the exact same issue that is described in NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V865000, however, this time (2/3/23) was after the ZB7 recall was completed. Even after the recall work was completed and Jeep told me the vehicle was safe to drive, it still failed in the exact same manner. The recall procedure did not work and this vehicle is not safe to drive. Additionally, during the period after the recall was completed and before it died again while driving, the battery range has decreased dramatically (less than 50% of what it was prior to the recall work).
The jeep has what people refer as “ the death wobble” When hitting a bump at freeway speed the steering wheel and front end shakes violently. The jeep has 13k miles and has not been off road. Jeep has been notified. Does not sound like the have a solid fix. You have to pull off the highway and stop to regain control of the vehicle.
The steering is loose and has a lot of play. I can be driving 25 miles per hour or 65 miles per hour and I constantly have to adjust the steering wheel to the point that my right arm actually gets tired from over correcting the steering. If I go over a bump, I have to correct the steering even more. I took it to a dealer to have it checked. The dealer confirmed there is a lawsuit regarding the steering but they are not allowed to fix it.
JEEP WOBBLE When driving at normal highway speeds the jeep starts shaking uncontrollably if there is a bump in the road. It is difficult to steer and to make it quit shaking I have to slow way down or come to a complete stop. This is very dangerous on the interstate during rush hour. Almost got me rear ended. Jeep is currently at the dealer who tried to tell me at first that it is because I don’t rotate my tires - I showed receipts where I do have them rotated and had just had it balanced twice within a couple weeks. Then they tried to say the tires were worn, but I also have proof from tire shop that they are good tires. Finally they ran out of excuses and admitted it was the common jeep wobble and had to order the part that is now on back order because they have had to change so many.
My Jeep has the infamous death wobble with violent shaking of the front end when the Jeep gets up to 50 mph or more. I have to pull over every time to stop the front end from shaking. The shaking is so violent it is very hard to control, and I've had other vehicles looking at my Jeep as if it going to blow up. This is ridiculous for a new Jeep and since Chrysler has known about this problem for years. I didn't know about it until I bought a Jeep and have ahd to deal with it.
Death wobble. It's been doing this for a few months now. Does it at any speed. Dealership claims there is nothing wrong. Blames it on uneven worn tires but I just bought these winter tires last winter. They look fine to me and there is no way they are bad already. I have a different set I use in the summer. Jeep just hit 30,000 miles.
The death wobble has happened 2 times in the past month traveling under 45mph. It’s dangerous as the steering wheel is all over the place and the only way to stop it is to slow down all the way. Very scary!

Vehicle steering vibrates uncontrollably at speeds generally over 50 mph. This only subsides if you slow the vehicle down and or bring the vehicle to a stop on the side of the road. This has done this since approximately 5,000 miles. I was told that there was no problem found. After contacting “Jeep Customer Care Service” to get them involved as we will NOT continue to put our young son and ourselves in danger of this faulty vehicle. I have been getting the runaround as to a rental vehicle. I was told by the customer service representative to take it to a dealer for the issue again. I told her that this vehicle is unsafe and the primary driver is my young son and that it was unsafe! The representative Melissa, told me to just don’t drive it on the interstate etc. After telling her that we have purchased 6 new vehicles from their parent company in the last 4 years, this would be the LAST!!! Only then she offered to start a case file for our complaint. We are still getting the runaround.

Jeep dealer Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram FIAT of Manhattan (678 11th Ave New York, NY 10019-7047) has to be added to the list of Jeep dealerships refusing (or unable) to assist with safety recalls ZB7 and ZD8. We will keep filing complaints with NHTSA until all Jeep dealerships start to assist Jeep drivers with these federally required and mandated repairs.
While driving on route95 in Christiana Delaware I hit a bump and my car start shaking uncontrollably I had to slow down this has happened on several ocassions. This is called the death wobble
Death wobble: extreme vibration, uncontrollable shaking from side to side when going high speeds and hitting bumps, but also happening at lower speeds now and not large bumps. It will only stop by coming to a close stop, slower than 10-15mph. It is happening much more frequently, and the Jeep only has 26,000 miles and has never been off-road. I bought this Jeep brand new. Ordered it myself. Dealership supposedly fixed it on 02-03-23, but it continues to do it and is getting worse.
Jeep develops a severe WOBBLE at speeds above 50MPH. Sometimes at a lower speed if you hit the smallest of bumps. The JEEP shakes BEYOND BELEIF. It shakes so much that you CANNOT see the instruments. In order for it to stop shaking you need to almost stop the car.
Death wobble
The vehicle's engine will randomly shut off and not turn back on. It has been to dealerships over 10 times for the same issue. They all attribute it to the start/stop battery, but it happens even when that feature is turned off. The vehicle's engine will shut off while driving and you cannot shift it into park. The only warning is a check engine light and "service auto start/stop system". There is no warning before the vehicle does it, and I have broken down in intersections, highways, and other dangerous locations. The vehicle duplicated the issue on the dealers lot, but they claim " no codes, no repair".
My Jeep has has experienced the death rattle over the last 6 months. Originally it would only happen every month or so when I got over 75 MPH. However in December after I put in an order with my service center for the part to fix it (which took 6+ weeks to arrive), the rattle got so bad that it would happen every time I got on the highway and would sometimes happen under speeds of 50. There was one time that I drove 45 each way to the airport and rattle happened over 10 times.
Recently had recall performed for loss of motive power. Now when shifting between gears, it is often firm or jerky and has vibrating/shuddering during acceleration.
The dealer called it death wobble
When driving a faster speeds if I hit a bump my car starts shaking rapidly feeling like my tires are gonna fall off and doesn’t stop until I pull over, took it to the dealer while under warranty and they told me there was nothing they could do about it or find the issue
When I accelerate over 55 mph, the front end of my jeep shakes violently, so violently I can barely hold onto the steering wheel. When driving in the fast lane on the freeway, going 65-70 mph, it shakes so badly that I almost lose control of the vehicle. I am fearful that one day, I will crash and hurt (or kill) myself, my occupants, and/or other persons in surrounding vehicles. I have reached out to my dealer and they tell me that Jeep has known about this issue, they even call it the "death wobble" - yet they do not have the parts to fix it. My car is still under warranty and I am getting no help from the dealer, they tell me it will be 2-3 months before the part comes in and there are multiple people in line ahead of me so the wait to fix it could be even longer. There are no warning lamps or messages. The symptoms began approximately 6 months ago and continue every day.
Manufacturer Recall Number ZB7 NHTSA Recall Number 22V-865 No JEEP dealerships around NY State (even the Oneonta NY dealership who sold me the actual vehicle) seem willing to assist and schedule a repair. How do I file a complaint?
While driving on highway at 70 mph speed limit hit a pothole and vehicle started shaking violently had to slow to under 30 mph for it to stop. Took to dealer they said they would replace steering dampener. Waited 2 months for part to come in took to work following morning hit another pothole at 70 mph and shook so bad it blurred my vision had to slow to under 30 to get it to stop. At that point almost got rear ended by semi he swerved to avoid hitting me.
On Jan. 27, 2023, I was driving my 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited (31,440 miles on the odometer) on the interstate, going about 65-70 mph in high volume traffic. Suddenly my right front tire started wobbling like it was going to fall off! I have never experienced anything like this. I was extremely frightened, fearing I might have a wreck or cause someone else to wreck if control of my Jeep were lost. My heart beat sped up, my hands clinched the steering wheel. I was able to slow down and the wobble went away but my anxiety did not go away. It happened about 4 more times that day on the interstate. I was traveling and concerned about my safety and that of others. I was also concerned about what was happening with my Jeep, how could I fix it, COULD it be fixed, and how was I going to pay for it. I thought the front end of my Jeep needed to be re-aligned so I took it to the dealership I bought it from, they inspected it and said it did not alignment. Said the Jeep had developed a "wobble." I was told that parts to fix this issue were not available in the U.S. and they had no ETA on when/if a part would be available. They took my phone number and said they would call if something changed. Now I have a Jeep that I am afraid of - actually terrified of. I only drive on the city streets and stay away from the interstate. My life has been limited in so many way because of this issue. I was not issued any paperwork on this problem.
The car has been shutting down since its inception. It's gone to the dealership over 4 times. From the loss of power to the complete shutdown during the highway at 65/70 mph with my kids inside. This vehicle is not safe to drive at all. It took the fun out of moving and owning a Jeep. The 4xe is a disaster in the making. Even after the dealership looks into the car over four times, they fixed, patched, software updates, and issues keep happening, which shows that they don't have an answer to this vehicle. The car lasted the last time it went in, over a month in the dealership. If you can't go Electric, don't do it. This car is an issue for families. Highly don't recommend it. It only has 15,980 miles! Brand new car, and it's been more in the dealership than any car I've owned in my life, and I've owned plenty!
The contact leased a 2021 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving the engine, hot message was displayed. The contact looked underneath the hood but failed to determine the cause of the failure. The contact continued to drive but the vehicle lost power and she noticed smoke coming from the vehicle. The contact pulled over. While continuing to drive, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V865000 (Engine) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. Parts distribution disconnect. The failure mileage was approximately 12,000.
I have had my 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe for approximately 14 months and have a little over 16,000 miles. My vehicle is now experiencing what is commonly known as the "Jeep Death Wobble". The vehicle will begin to shake violently, especially at higher speeds. It has become nearly impossible to control and is an ongoing issue. My local dealership has been unable and unwilling to fix the problem rapidly.
While turning at low speeds (pulling into a parking spot) and the cruise control is turned on the "set cruise" button is elevated and can be accidentally hit. If the speed of the vehicle is under 20mph it will automatically set the cruise speed to 20mph causing the vehicle to accelerate. This elevated "set cruise" button actives the regular cruise and not the adaptive cruise. This has happened to me over a dozen times. I am lucky it has not caused a wreck.
We purchased our Jeep brand new in January 2021. Tire Details: Bridgestone Dueler A/T, Size 255/70R18, Load Index: 133T, Speed Rating: M+S, DOT/Tire ID#: 93XJ RHF 4820. In November 2022, we experienced a catastrophic sidewall blowout of the passenger side front tire while driving 75-80 mph in the high speed lane on I-75. We were instantly warned by the dashboard automatic tire pressure monitoring system. The tire pressure dropped from normal to zero in a matter of 100 yards. This warning saved our lives. To this day, I still don’t know how we got the Jeep safely over to the emergency lane on the right side of I-75 during high traffic. Key point to note – we only had approximately 30,000 miles on our tires at the time of the incident. We called Florida’s Road Rangers who put our spare tire on the vehicle. When we got to our destination, we took it to the Okeechobee Jeep Dealer. The Service Manager and Mechanic both said they had never seen a sidewall blown out like this tire. They recommended we contact Bridgestone to notify them of a safety complaint and possible monetary credit. At their recommendation we took detailed pictures of the blown tire. The Dealer pitched the blown tire as we had a car full of luggage. We purchased a new Bridgestone tire from this Jeep Dealer at that time as we did not want to ride around with no spare. We were not sure of the integrity of the remaining 3 tires. We contacted Bridgestone, Ref # 1387342. After talking to a series of Reps, they seemed
After entering the highway and going 60MPH+ the vehicle began shaking like crazy. I thought maybe it was road construction causing the shaking. I switched lanes but the shaking continued. I slowed down and it stopped. I sped back up again over 60MPH and it continued. The seat belt locked so that I could barely move. After a search online, this is being categorized as “death wobble” and it’s stated it occurs once the car has a certain amount of miles. Despite this, I don’t see a recall for it. Since this happens only at a high rate of speed, it seems very unsafe and people should be warned.
Going over 45 MPH, when hitting any type of bump or even changing lanes causes steering column to shake excessively. Have to come to a complete stop to stop shaking. Got steering stabilizer "fixed" but was told that the problem will continue to occur.
Took 2021 Jeep wrangler rubicon 4xe for loss of motive power to victorville jeep California, dealer performed recall when I picked the vehicle I received my vehicle with a check engine light which was bot present at moment of dealership taking vehicle in. Was told due to software update per recall instructions, caused a hybrid module to fail, I was the part was in back order with out a shipping date. Noticed the radio had reset the setting and notified dealership that the controls to adjust the bass and treble were not working properly. Now they called me stating that the radio has some type of noise coming from it and it has to do something with a software update and that they have to replace the subwoofer because it blown. Dealership has had the vehicle since Jan 06th and today is Jan 21 and the new subwoofer won't be until Jan 27th. Please help.
“death wobble” - axle begins shaking at a very fast pace, causing the car to shake in an uncontrollable manner. If you are going over 45 and hit the slightest bump It feels as if we have little to no control over the vehicle when this is happening. I have taken it in many times but the part is on back over.
Jeep has a seriously dangerous issue when you hit a bump on the highway, other online call it a “death wobble”, extremely dangerous, started happened around 21000 miles on ours. Only way to get it to stop shaken is to stop the vehicle. I have several videos of this occurring and would be happy to send them, this app won’t allow videos to be uploaded. I called the dealer to have the issue looked at, no recall has been issued yet according to our dealer.
The contact owns a 2021 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while his wife was driving 65 MPH, the vehicle started to violently shake after driving over a bump in the roadway. The contact stated that once the vehicle slowed down, the vehicle resumed normal operation. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the steering dampener was replaced; however, the failure worsened after the repair. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it remained. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 14,000.
When driving at high speeds and hit a bump the vehicle's front suspension starts wobbling and keeps it up till you reduce speed. Not able to drive over 60 MPH, worried the wobble may start from hitting a bump.
Hit a small bump in the road and the steering wheel and tires began shaking violently. I tried slowing down and the vibration continued until I was below 20mph on highway. Not the first time I have experienced this. I had tires balanced, rotated and pressure checked.
I was driving on a highway at between 60 & 65 mph, the wheels crossed an expansion joint in the highway and the steering started vibrating and violently and shaking from side to side. It felt like both wheels were bouncing long after I crossed the joint in the road. I almost lost control of the vehicle. I had to slow down and upon doing so the shaking abated.
The contact owns a 2021 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving at speeds exceeding 70 MPH, the vehicle started to shake and vibrate violently. After reducing the speed to 55 MPH the shaking ceased and the vehicle operated normally. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer was notified of the failure and indicated that the failure might have been caused by a faulty steering dampener, but the part was on backorder. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 16,000.
On the interstate, my Jeep developed the "death wobble" causing us to have to greatly decrease speed among other drivers. This issue continued after each small bump in the road that we hit at interstate speeds, causing the vehicle to shake violently and requiring me to decrease speed repeatedly among other fast-moving traffic. It eventually required me to have to move over to the slow lane for easy road departure if needed. After an attempted repair with a steering damper at the dealer, the issue returned 1.5 weeks later, and after 2 weeks, my vehicle remains at the dealer while they try to figure out how to correct this dangerous issue.
The contact owns a 2021 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled with the output control and collision warning lights illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to the dealer on numerous occasions; however, the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The failure mileage was 23,915.
I have a 2021 Sahara Wranger with only 11,000 miles and is only 16mths old, all stock. On November 11, 2021 is the first time experiencing the so called death wobble. I hit a divot from a recessed reflector that lines the yellow lines in the road. I was going only 55 when I only drove over two, when suddenly my steering wheel and while Jeep started shaking violently. I let my foot off the accelerator , letting the Jeep slow down to under 50 when it finally stopped. It was very frightening to me and my daughter and called the dealership immediately to report the issue and was very nervous to drive it again. After inspection at the dealership I was told they couldn’t find a problem so I took off feeling maybe it was just a freak thing. But then a month later the same thing happened, but this time I was coming down a steep grade around 60mph when there was a small divot that I ran over and again the steering wheel shacking violently and the whole Jeep shaking worse then the first time. I tried not to break and let my foot off the accelerator again, but this time the Jeep wouldn’t slow down by its self because I was going down hill. I thought I was going to loose control of the vehicle and crash. Shaking, I pulled over and called the dealership immediately. I told them I was afraid to drive the vehicle and I wanted it taken care of immediately. I had to have my husband drive it to the dealership for me, because I was to scared. After hours and hours or research on the internet, I
Death wobble on highway when you go over a bridge or pavement seam.
At highway speeds after hitting a pothole, small bump, or bridge transition the vehicle begins to shake violently. The steering wheel, and all front end suspension components will shake violently until the vehicle is slowed back down below 40 miles per hour. This has happened multiple times. Looking online this has been encountered by other motorists and is commonly known as the “Jeep Death Wobble.” This is extremely unsafe because it could cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle. It can also cause an accident because once it happens the driver has to immediately slow down to 40. When this happens in the passing lane/multi lane highway with other vehicles behind it could cause a pile up accident. The driver can’t anticipate when it will happen.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
