I was driving on the interstate when dark (during the evening hours). I had the headlights on via the "auto" position. Without any warning the dashboard lights and headlights shut off. This has happened on two different occasions, [XXX] and [XXX]. After stopping, shutting off the car and restarting the lights resumed working. I have since taken the car to a Jeep dealership for repair. The dealership told me they need support from Chrysler and that I needed to contact Chrysler to set up a case. I did that on 11/21/2024. After making that initial contact Chrysler has been unresponsive. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The vehicles dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree while driving ( Abs, traction control, check engine light) and the brakes virtually not functional. This has now occurred 3 times. After the first occurrence and the Abs module being replaced it occurred 17 days later and then stated to be an issue with a software update. 5 days after this occurred again. Vin [XXX] **Date of purchase** February 2023. **Problem:** Piston malfunction That began in September 2023. **Dealer:** Alberic Colón Chrysler, Jeep, Puerto Rico **Event timeline:** 1. September 2023: The malfunction of the piston in the Jeep Grand Cherokee 2023 began. 2. September 4, 2023: He visited the dealership, Alberic Colón, to report the malfunction and request repairs. The dealer did not adequately document the malfunction during this visit. 3. Jeep Cares case [XXX] While driving with Lane Keeping Assistance/cruise control enabled, on a dry clear road (XXX) Between Exit [XXX] and Exit [XXX] - both directions. It has happened elsewhere, but these are our major commuting route. The jeep would all the sudden veer to the right or left out of the lane, and we would have to fight the lane tracking to keep it centered in lane. Our Jeep Wrangler has been in the repair shop for at least 4 occurrences of the issue. 1st was initial diagnosis at about 6,000 miles. Was told that the sensors needed realignment and to bring back so they could keep for the day and it was long process. At that appointment we were told that the alignment was out and needed to be adjusted. During the adjustment, a part was damaged and needed to be replaced, the replacement part was damaged requiring a 3rd part. Time in shop was almost 30 days. 2nd attempt was about 24,000 miles. This time the alignment of sensors was performed, but on test drives, it still ended up pulling to the right and repair shop consulted with Jeep engineers about the situation and determined that at least one part needed to be replaced. Time in shop was another 30 days. After this repair, it pulls even harder and requires additional force to maintain center lane, including more occurrences pulling to the left into oncoming traffic. At 35,000 miles, opened case with Jeep Cares as warrantee is due to expire at 36,000 miles. Jeep currently at repair and after multiple test drives.
UCONNECT SCREEN BLANKS OUT AND GOES OFF SOMETIMES PREVENTING BACK UP CAMERA FROM GOING ON. THE SYSTEM RESETS AND COMES BACK SOMETIMES ON IT'S OWN OTHER TIMES RESET PROCEDURE NEEDS TO BE DONE. THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED TO THE DEALER ON MANY OCCASSIONS IN THE LAST YEAR AND A HALF. THEIR ANSWER I ALWAYS THE SAME JEEP IS AWARE OF IT AND WORKING ON IT. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN BACK UP CAMERA DOESN'T SHOW ON SCREEN AND SHOULD BE REMEDIED. THIS HAS HAPPENED APPROX 15 TIMES SINCE MY LEASE STARTED.
The software controlling the driver information system on this vehicle is continually having issues. Randomly, the system will stop working with system rebooting while driving. Normal features like hands free phone calls and navigation will stop responding. This leads to driver confusion and takes attention away from driving the vehicle. Also randomly, chimes will bong with no indication of what is happening on the dash or vehicle display. Attempts have been made for an "over the air" software update via Wi-Fi per the owner's manual, but the owner's manual doesn't accurately describe the navigation and software options of the system (menus incorrect, options are non-existent, etc). This car can be frightening when it suddenly acts up in traffic and there is no indication as to what is happening. This has all randomly happened since the car was new and continues to happen. The date below is just an arbitrary date since it happens consistently since new. This has occurred at any speed or mileage.
I have had 2 incidents in which the 2nd row seat belts on either of the end seats fails to release. The first incident resulted in a seat belt being wrapped around the headrest and unable to release. I had to take the car to a mechanic for it be undone resulting in a broken headrest. This was in May 2024. Today the seatbelt was stuck around my child's abdomen. The seatbelt got tighter around his stomach and he tried get out of it. I parked the car and tried to get the seatbelt to release and it refused to. It continued to get tighter and tighter making it difficult to breathe. I had to call 911 for assistance on the side of the road. 2 police officers had to help me lift him and get him free- the entire time the seatbelt refused to release. My son has bruises and scratches from trying to get out and now is terrified to wear a seatbelt. There is something wrong with the mechanism for the seatbelt that does not allow it release. I am now scared that if we are in an accident and the seatbelt tightens across someone's chest or one of my children's neck that I won't be able to get them out in time. This has been reported to Jeep who advised that I fill out this form.
The contact owns an Evenflo Car Seat, Model number 37312370, Model Type: Gold Shyft Dual Ride. The manufacturing date was unknown. The car seat was being utilized in a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the safety seat belt buckle was easily opened. The contact stated that her [XXX] daughter was able to easily unbuckle herself from the restraints. The failure occurred inside the vehicle. The child was in the car seat at the time of the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. For the second time since the vehicle was purchased EPS failed. The first time there were other issues and errors. The car cannot safely be driven under these conditions. When taken to the dealer they say they cannot recreate the issue and then it is drivable. Our concern is that these issues are not being properly logged and there is a serious electrical defect in the car that could result in a failure while it is being driven. Since there is "no trouble found" it does not need to be logged by the dealer and information will never reach the OEM to note an issue and drive recalls or corrective quality actions.
The automatic emergency braking system activates randomly while driving abruptly stopping the vehicle in traffic. This has happened several times and we no longer feel safe driving. Luckily no one has been behind us when it happens otherwise I feel a crash would be unavoidable. The vehicle has now been to the dealer twice with no repairs made. The techs are always unable to duplicate the concern. Last time this happened my wife was driving around 40mph when the crash warning message flashed and stopped the vehicle. (no one was in the way).
The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 MPH, the vehicle was shaking severely, vibrating, and bucking, causing the driver to almost lose control of the vehicle. The vehicle started losing motive power and stalled. During the failure, the "Power Steering" and "Power Brake" failure warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was later towed to the local dealer. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was not yet notified of the failure. The contact stated that the secondary battery was previously replaced due to a failure with starting the vehicle. The failure mileage was 44,000.
Engine Mounts are faulty / victim of design fault. I have had my engine mounts replaced twice within the first 7,000 miles of ownership (at 3,825 miles and again at 6,583 miles). Per my service advisor this is a common issue with all Grand Cherokee models and he anticipates the need to replace them again.
Massive alerts, on and off every few miles, then power steering locked out when pulling into an intersection. Almost was hit. Luckily, I was able to put the car in reverse and back into the side street. This needs immediate attention. Had the vehicle towed to dealer.
The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked in the garage, he noticed that the rear coil spring was on the ground. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the rear coil springs needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. While walking away from the parked vehicle, there was a popping sound and a bang coming from the vehicle. The contact then saw that the rear coil spring had detached and was rolling down the driveway. The vehicle was towed to the same local dealer. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V413000 (Suspension). The manufacturer was contacted and declined a buyback and trade-in assistance request. The failure mileage was approximately 26,800.
Automatic headlight dimmer not working. Long delay to turn on bright lights. Dangerous lack of visibility.
Started vehicle and had no power steering. Tried multiple times starting the vehicle, no luck. Came back after 45 minutes and tried again and the vehicle was fine.
See attached document for complaint.
Drive shaft is making a scary noise when accelerating an I read the info this is nothing to play with I would like to have this looked at again this will be my 3rd time
This vehicle had a software update for the cross traffic warning and rear view camera. The camera is working but since this update, the cross alarms do not work consistently. Just today, I almost backed into a parked car, no alarms or anything.
No warning lights have come on. Two different dealerships have worked on this car 10 different times over the course of a year. In November, 2023 I sent a certified letter to jeep with my concerns and I also contacted Chrysler board of arbitration by phone (# given to me by Ohio Attorney Generals office) on 12/1/23, 12/4/23, 12/5/23 and left messages each time. I never received a call back about my messages so I got an attorney in December 2023 for the rattling noise my car has made almost the entire time ive had it. -Bought in May, 2023 -Heard the noise and put it in the shop for a pre-vacation inspection to fix what was going on before me, my 2 small kids, and my husband drove to Florida. Seemed weird to have such a new car in the shop already with noise safety concerns. -Been back and forth to dealerships more times than I should have to...a couple times theyve had my car for 3 weeks at a time. Everytime I have to unload/load carseats when i drop off and then unload/load back up when i get my car only to find it hasnt been fixed. -My attorney acts like he is at the complete mercy of the manufacturer for a resolution and this lemon case has gone on for 9 months now. -i need a safe, reliable car and for this process to be resolved in a more timely matter. I am currently at a Jeep dealership now becasue again, I will be traveling this weekend with my kids in the car even though I am uneasy about doing so but I cant stop living but it seems unfair and like no one cares that we
I have owned this car for almost 1 year. from day one this "radio" area 10" screen with a computer behind it has been over heating and glitching out. The effects of this are several and random. Freezing and restarting randomly. Calls dropping from car to phone and back again intermittantly. While using gps maps will freeze so i miss turns and i am not where the maps says i am. After reversing the backup picture on screen from camera will sometime freeze on screen even 5 min after I am moving forward and it is a frozen picture. Most recently a disturbing saftey issue is that i was backing into my driveway and the screen froze and not backing up warning sound or visual was real time and i almost hit my fence, as my screen showed green lines and that i was plenty far away when in fact i was inches from the fencing. The dealership has replaced the glass screen but NOT the modual or computer behind it. They have sent me softare updates over the air. I have heard from them and from others this is a major issues with this model and year with these panasonic computers in them. I am very sad and frustrated about this!
When headlights are in auto position the automatic high beam does not function. Driver can not override and turn headlights to high or low. Very dangerous. Limits visibility. Increases risk of collis
The “latch” mechanism that secures the seatbelt can be kicked open by rear facing child which results in car seat not being secure to vehicle seat and severely unsafe.
FCA Campaign 64A NHTSA 23V-413 / Date Completed: 09/26/2023 08/05/2024 - while driving at 30mph the rear coil spring shot down from the rear passenger side wheel nearly causing and a motor vehicle accident and injury. The recall was addressed back in September of 2023 yet failed the alleged fix from the dealership.
I have towed this vehicle behind my motorhome for the past year and have used a Brake Buddy system to stop the vehicle should it ever break away from the tow brackets. I used the Brake Buddy system for 5 years on a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee prior to buying this 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee and have never had any issues before. Recently, while towing the vehicle, I set it up for towing as Jeep recommends and either had a malfunction of the Automatic Electronic Brakes (AEB) or the Brake Buddy. Even though the tires never developed a flat spot on them due to dragging the vehicle, there was pressure applied to the brake pedal that caused the brakes to get so hot that the rubber brake lines melted at the fittings or blew out of the fittings causing me to lose all fluid. The NTHSA requires that all light-duty vehicles have AEB systems installed on them by 2026. I questioned Jeep as to the cause of my issue and they determined it was not their fault. I contacted Brake Buddy and they claimed they were just recently made aware of this problem and have since determined their system is not compatible with AEB equipped vehicles. I have talked to several installers that set up tow vehicles to be towed and they are of aware of this. Who has the responsibility to inform the public and industry that there is a problem here? Jeep advertises their vehicle is towable with all 4 wheels on the ground but makes no mention of having to install a State Law required braking system in the tow vehicle or po
The vehicle will run extremely rough and not accelerate when needed especially after filling the tank with gasoline. It will almost die in the intersection when you’re trying to get past Traffic. It will not reach Highway speed at times and when you step on the gas the engine makes a strange noise and it slows down. The vehicle is very dangerous in this regard. One time I almost had an accident because of it. I have had the vehicle to the Jeep dealership at least six times for this issue and they cannot confirm that it happens on their own and they cannot fix it. I have video evidence of this problem taking place over many months. Chrysler and jeep will not help me. I am concerned about the welfare of the public if they are driving a similar vehicle.
We were in a serious car accident. We were T-boned and rolled two or three times. We had to be pulled from the upside down Grand Cherokee. Our complaint is the fuel fill line broke and poured 23 gallons of raw gasoline into the car. My husband was overcome by the gas and and to be revived twice. I had blacked out due to the force of the air bags. We were okay with now, we were removed before the car exploded. The gas should have never entered the cabin!!! If our experience could help someone else we would be relieved.
While we (Husband, Wife, [XXX] old & [XXX] old daughter) were doing a cross country road trip from Olympia, WA to Raleigh, NC, we experienced a serious safety issue while driving in the State of Iowa on [XXX] The incident happened around 5 PM local time on [XXX] just before [XXX] in the outskirts of Davenport, IA. The GPS location of the incident is (XXX) While I was driving in this freeway on the left most lane doing around 70 mph, suddenly I lost power to the engines. Within seconds, I managed to my pull over my vehicle to the shoulder. After few trials of restarting my vehicle, I couldn't get it to start. So, I ended up calling the Jeep Roadside Assistance. Due to the concern of the safety of my family on the freeway, I called 911 seeking assistance for protecting my family inside the car from the fast moving vehicles. Within 15-20 mins of my call, the Roadside assistance personnel as well as the Iowa State Highway Helper arrived at the scene to assist us. The Tow truck person and the Highway helper both tried some steps to get my vehicle to start, but they couldn't. So, the tow person offered to tow my Jeep to the nearby Jeep Dealership (Kimberly Car City) at Davenport, IA (whom I called around 5:10 PM to alert them of my situation). The Tow person towed the vehicle and also rode me and my [XXX] to the Jeep dealership, whilst the Highway Helper rode my wife and [XXX] to the same dealership. We reached the dealership around 5:45 PM and they were closing at 6 PM. So, the de
Multiple times during the day I have a number of alerts popping up in my dashboard. These include the blind spot monitoring which continues to go on and off. Braking system, ect. Please see pictures.
While driving lost the power brakes making stopping vehicle incredibly difficult having to apply excessive force to brake pedal and shift into neutral to stop. Vehicle could not be driven for service and needed to be towed. If my wife had been driving her car, she would not be able to stop as I (her husband) had to apply leg force as much as I could apply to get vehicle to slow down and had to shift to neutral to stop. We avoided being in an accident but it was very close. Vehicle has been towed for repair and currently do not know what is wrong with the vehicle but it is definitely a safety concern.
The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While the contact’s daughter was driving approximately 60–65 MPH, the rear coil spring detached from the vehicle. The contact was unaware if there were any warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was previously taken to the local dealer, who repaired the vehicle under NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V413000 (Suspension). The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that there was a loud roaring sound coming from the vehicle soon after starting the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where a diagnostic test failed to determine the cause of the failure. The contact was referred to the manufacturer for further assistance and a second diagnostic test was performed. The dealer replaced one of the speakers in the vehicle which helped to reduce the noise. The contact stated that after the repair was performed, the contact stated that several electrical failures had occurred including multiple warning lights were displayed. The contact was informed that the infotainment screen was showing a blank screen, the sunroof was independently opening while the vehicle was off, and the truck hatch had failed to open after several attempts. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle shut off while driving at various speeds. The contact had the vehicle towed to a dealer West Herr Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM Fiat of Rochester (4477 W Ridge Rd, Rochester, NY 14626) where the vehicle remained in the dealer's possession. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 700.
Vehicle has a system to diagnose if the connected trailer has an inoperative bulb. The system is incorrectly assessing that the Thule Epos bike racks break lights and turn signal lamps are working, resulting in constant driver distractions from the warning lights. Every brake or turn the system beeps and illuminates warning lights when in fact there is no problems with the lights. Jeep refuses to address the issue as the bike rack is a "third party" accessory and Thule says their system is working so it's a Jeep issue. Warning system is a nuisance causing distractions while driving.
On 7/9/24 I was driving on the highway and jeep began to lose power and speed. I was unable to accelerate to maintain speed or safely pull to the shoulder. Jeep completely lost power and stopped in the middle of the highway and I had to wait with hazards until I could successfully turn on the car and drive again. This exact thing happened again today on 7/16/24 it was very dangerous and scary especially since I was almost rear ended.
On/about 3/20 while driving on the freeway changing lanes, the transmission went from 8th gear to 3rd and did so with such violently it felt as though i was struck by another car. The transmission did this multiple times with multiple drivers. This has been a systemic problem since i bought the car with 11 miles on the odometer from a Jeep dealer. last, the transmission stuck in 8th gear and barley rolled into a driveway where it had to be towed to the dealer for not being able to select a gear and with a check engine lite on. This jeep has been at the dealers service shop for over 45 days with issues related to the transmission and only had 3000 miles on the odometer currently. This has been a problem since being purchased. multiple forms talk about transmission issues on their like model 2020-2023 jeep grand cherokees.
The engine would randomly accelerate , rev and make a whining noise, slip into neutral and I would have to pull over and shut it off sometimes in an unsafe area. Occasionally when I would start the engine it would rev as though I had my foot on the gas and I would shut it back off. I was traveling on the highway approximately 70 mph and cancelled the cruise control to go around a curve and pressed on the gas to merge into 70 mph traffic on another highway, and nothing happened. When I got to the end of the ramp the car was going 32 mph with my foot to the floor on the gas panic stricken. Suddenly the gas engaged and I shot into the traffic trying to avoid me. I took the car home, parked it in the garage and called a local dealership for service explaining the problems I was having. I went to resume my trip in a friends car because I was frightened to drive mine. While I was away my partner went to move the car a few feet to get to the trash barrel and when he put it in reverse the car shot 8 feet at high speed out of the garage and hit a tree. He went to the hospital and the car was taken on a flatbed to the dealership where I purchased it. There is considerable damage. The acceleration problem happened at least 15 times and I have several adults that were in the car and witnessed it. Chrysler did the diagnostics and said there is no defect. I would Never attempt to drive the car again and if I traded it in then an unsuspecting person could be hurt or killed in it.
Since [XXX], my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee has experienced multiple ongoing electrical issues. Initially, my car wouldn't start in the morning so I called Chrysler's roadside assistance and had the car jump started, then brought it to the dealership as a precaution to get it checked out. The dealership determined that the main battery had issues and so they replaced it with a new main battery. However, my car wouldn't start again the following day, and so I had the car towed, as per the dealership's request, then brought to the dealership for further inspection. The module that the technician installed did not fix the problem, and instead he determined that there were further electrical issues with my car. The technician has checked and tested all components related to the charging system, battery, alternator, starter, all relays, fuses, and wiring in the TIPM. The technician said the problem was sourcing from something slowly draining the power while the vehicle is off. And rather than "staying asleep," something would intermittently wake up the car, but only for about a second or two, then everything would go back to normal. According to my service advisor, if this was a constant remaining draw, the technician would have had it diagnosed a long time ago, but the fact that it is intermittent, along with the fact that there are a lot of electrical components in the vehicle, it's posing as an even bigger challenge. This led to opening a Star Case, which gets the engineers involv

The vehicle makes a metal like grinding noise when stoping and shutting off the engine. has had numerous problems where multiple warnings lights will appear on the instrument cluster followed by the vehicle losing power steering and the ability to be controlled. The radio screen with black out and functions will be rendered unusable through the radio, intermediately. The vehicle displays active error codes to include loss of communication with body control module. The vehicle will crank and drive off without a key fob present in the vehicle. The vehicles engine is making a loud knocking noise. The vehicle has been to three different dealerships and has been unable to be fixed despite several hard resets/updates/“flashes” and a power steering assembly replacement.
Yes I got this in sept 2023 it’s had 3 recall sense then and now it’s got be back in shop for 3 days for valves bad and can mess engine up I’m paying too much money to keep having issues
While driving on the freeway. Slowing down speed due to traffic, the vehicle through itself in park. With the warning messages stating service transmission. The vehicle would not go into any other gear besides park. Thankfully no collision was caused due to the abrupt halt. The vehicle was then towed for repairs to the dealer. It was determined that the valve body had to be replaced. The transmission now whines when accelerating. Then the forward collision illuminated along with airbag icon. Message stated service airbag system. Airbag system unavailable, safety hazard. Pending diagnosis of why airbag system has failed.
Since purchase, I have had problems with the U Connect system, which at times renders all communication and some luxury items to be inoperable 1 week ago, car completely had both batteries drain spontaneously . Dealer replaced both batteries with no further explanation. On 5/21, on highway trip, warning lights came on, lane assist, blind spot, ABS stopped working. A/c was blowing hard, but could not adjust. Windows would not open. Hatch would not open, back doors would not open , door lock/ unlock did not work. Could only use handle on inside to open car. Could not adjust side mirrors. Promptly rerouted my day trip back home via side roads and not expressway due to uncertainty of safety. Drove it right to dealer and left the car running while checking in. Car starting flashing lights while service writer was checking car in. Then all lights- headlights and tail lights went dark without touching car. Engine still running. Car is not safe or reliable to drive. Had 12,400 miles and have owned it 18 months. Mostly highway driven by retired couple. 5 th service of electrical issues since purchase. It has been kept multiple days each time.
The contact leased a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V132000 (Suspension, Steering) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while attempting to park the vehicle, upon shifting the vehicle into park, the vehicle failed to engage the parking brake and continued to roll forward. After 15 minutes, the vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. Later, the contact stated that upon shifting the vehicle into park, the parking brake engaged; however, the vehicle failed to recognize that the shifter was in park, and a message "Please shift to Park," was displayed. The contact then became aware that the vehicle was unable to be turned off. On another occasion, the contact stated that upon shifting the vehicle into drive, the vehicle failed to respond properly, with the instrument panel indicating that the vehicle was in neutral. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 8,200.
Forward Collision Warning not working not braking. When turning left or right I hear a loud scratching noise.l have had my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee at the dealership twice they can't find anything wrong, going back to the dealer tomorrow and try again........
The radio, which included hands free calling, has been having issues of locking up, connecting calls but the caller not being able to hear the person in the vehicle. In order to correct the issue it requires the driver to reset the radio. This involved multiple choices on the interface to get to the radio reset option. This causes a major safety concern if done while driving. I have taken the vehicle to the service department at the dealer 4 times and been provided a Star Online Publication (S238A000026 Rev. A) dated October 2023 which states "Intermittent radio concerns will be corrected in the 4th Quarter radio software enhancement, updates over the air." I is now the 2nd quarter of 2024 and the issues have not been corrected and this Star Online Publication has not been updated.
Approx one time per month the transmission will not upshfft from 1st gear when accelerating from a stop. Engine RPM is very high and resulting vehicle speed low. Only remedy I have found is to pullover, stop and turn engine off, then restart.
Vehicle emits vibrations and shutter/loud noises from transmission at different speeds traveling on roadway. Dealer has deemed unrepairable and calls it harmonically imbalanced. Vehicle presents hard shifts to gear and downshifts.
Driving down a highway in a 70 mph zone, my car’s automatic braking system engaged causing my car to slam on brakes. There were no cars in front of me any of the times this happened. This has happened 5 times in the last two weeks. 3/5 of the times, there were cars/trucks in the right lane next to me. 2/5 of the times, there were trucks two lanes over. The first time this happened, the car behind me had to slam on their brakes to avoid hitting me. This has happened about 10 times since I have owned the car. However the incidents have happened more frequently in the last few weeks.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
