The engine oil and filter was recently changed and a few days later oil is now leaking down the engine bay onto the exhaust and onto the skid plates. The correct torque was used and oil filter seal as well as the drain plug are dry. The canister housing has either cracked or seals have failed on that part. It is a known issue with an upgraded part available from FCA. I did not notice it until arriving home after a 20 mile drive and oil was everywhere. this could have caused a fire as there was no warning and no expectation of a leak. Opened a case with FCA to report that this part has failed on my vehicle. Case #80756602

The front passenger side seatbelt would not tighten around occupant when pulled from the rest position. When we tried to get it to retract it wouldn't. Problem diagnosed at Arrigo Sawgrass as Powertrain Control Module failure. It is a risk if vehicle not responding to increased speed when needed. My research indicates that thousands of 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokees in an Australian Batch were recalled for Powertrain Control Module Fault and the failure of my vehicle under 30000 miles seems to match with these recalls and should be carefully looked at for possible recall as well

Upon furthur investigation the plastic brackets holding the pin on either side seemed to have broken as if the plastic had aged or was under to much stress. Thankfully i was leaning forward enough that it barely hit the back of my head and the cushioning absorbed much of the impact pressure.

I was merging onto the highway from an on-ramp and the vehicle stuttered a d stalled. The jeep dealership diagnosed the issue and said it was a bad computer controller 5-10 days for part to arrive then 2 days later I was informed the computer controller wasn’t the problem. Now they think it’s the fuel pump. After searching the symptoms I found a recall for 2014-2016 Jeep’s for loss in the magnetic coating on the tone wheel resulting in possible engine stall. 2014-2016 Jeep’s manufactured between June 9 2014 and March 29 2016. In 2018, my 2014 Chrysler/Jeep Grand Cherokee dashboard material had started to dislodge from the dash. I reached out to Jeep and they denied anything was wrong with the dash on their end and it was my fault for improper care of the car. I found this to be in contrast with research online of a large amount of complaints for the same model as mine suffering the same dashboard glue issues. In December of 2019, I received a notice from Jeep that they would be replacing the dashboard so in January of 2020 I dropped my car off at the local dealership, Joey Accardi. After not hearing from them, I sent an email on February 12, 2020 requesting an update. They advised they submitted a request for approval of the replacement to Jeep and were waiting to hear back. I picked up my vehicle as they could not provide a replacement timeline. After waiting several months I reached out to Jeep customer care Reference #75788102 and they advised they attempted to reach out to the dealership for an update with no response. After getting a response several days later they advised it was ordered and should arrive shortly. After waiting to hear back through the rest of 2020, I reached out again in February of 2021 to Jeep customer care Reference #78420942 and they "escalated" my issue to someone who called the dealership and was told it would arrive in May of 2021. They closed my case on February 5th without any further help or confirmation of receipt of part. I reached out again today, September 9th

The passenger side headrest restraint clips seem to have broken or deployed spontaneously. The vehicle has not been in an accident and the headrest is rarely adjusted/used.

Seats
Filed Aug 21, 2021CO

Front passenger active headrestraint defective. Headrest activated erroneously when plastic brackets holding steel bar broke. This caused the headrest to forcefully extend/deploy forward. Driver side headrest was not affected. Steel bar remained captured in claw which would have released steel bar if vehicle should be rear ended thus causing active headrestraint to engage (note: vehicle was not hit in this case). Should this occur with passenger in seat or to driver side while vehicle in motion it can cause an accident or injury to seat occupant.

HID headlight bulbs were replaced by dealer. Upon return of the vehicle I tested the light pattern at night on an unlit road and the results were not stellar. There are 2 noticeable dark areas on the roadway imparting vision and clarity of the roadway. Returned to dealer and let them drive the car at night. They told me that there are two dark areas in the light pattern and that they are caused by “burns” on the inside of both headlight lens. I was informed that they need replacement to the tune of $1300.00 each. The service manger informed me that he could try to disassemble the headlight housing and “polish” the lens with no promise of success. The area of the lens causing the distortion is directly in front of the projector portion of the housing. To me it appears to be a design or material selection issue. Also interesting is that the areas of distortion look differently in each lens, the passenger side is cloudy, whereas the driver’s is granular. Pictures are difficult to take but my best effort are included.

I have received notices about Recall W79/NHTSA 20V-699 "Important Safety Recall". I went to my local dealer and they told me the parts are not available. They said they would put me on a waiting list, but that I'm number 162 on the list and they are currently working a number from November of 2019. I called FCA to complain. They directed me to another dealer in the area. That dealer made an appointment and then canceled it due to no parts availability and said they'd put me "on the waiting list". They gave no time frame. I just received another notice urging me to get this urgent safety recall fixed. My take is that FCA is dragging their feet in hopes that the longer they delay, the less repairs they will have to do.

Happy Wednesday: Issue 11427346 THATS MY ISSUE TOO. This is occurring with my vehicle with many others. I found out today Power Steering Fluid ran out and was empty but no leak is detected. It is the Steering rack where the fluid is going so it is undetected which can cause gears to lock up and crash since owners do not detect a leak and do not know where it is going. I got an oil change and they told me it was almost empty buy inches and to get parked ASAP until it was filed and that there is an issue. Miracle DODGE/Jeep in Gallatin, TN said there must be an issue when we went to buy the power steering fluid at a dealership since the Jeep only takes MOPAR Hydraulic fluid at 22.00 a quart. They are aware there is some issue if the fluid is empty but no leak detected by me or anyone else looking for one. This is a issue with crash potential. It could have killed me if i ran out 100% and my gears locked up. My time is spent taking my cancer stricken mother to the Drs office and had II not got an oil change? I would never know and my gears would have locked up. Many have reported. Why is this not a recall since the Steering rack being replaced is a $2000.00 cost to fix. I have 68, 500 miles on my Jeep 2014 GC Limited with low miles?. This is unheard of. First, the faulty Engine Oil sensor $450.00 to fix, then the faulty seat belt clip breaking which was covered by you all and fixed..Now? No one was injured however had my wife been sitting there she could have easily been injured. The headrest could have smacked the back of her head. No warning lamps indicated anything wrong no warning occured before the deployment of the headrest. This seems to be an ongoing problem amongst jeep grand Cherokee owners.

Jeep Grand Cherokee power steering leak! We’re having the same problem that other Jeep owners are having, the steering rack leaks on the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. The leak was discovered through regular maintenance check in 2018. We filled the reservoir with new fluid, it was fine for the entire year. It wasn’t until July 2021 that we discovered that fluid was leaking from the Steering Rack and Pinion and spraying fluid on to the engine. It got so bad that we had to fill the reservoir daily! It appears that Jeep knew about this problem since 2012 but failed to do anything about it. https://www.carproblemzoo.com/jeep/grandcherokee/steering-rack-and-pinion-problems.php https://www.jeepgarage.org/threads/leaking-power-steering-rack-and-pinion-boots.73596/ This Jeep only has 55,000 miles. My wife uses it locally and it’s never driven more than 100 miles a month and it has never been driven off road. This is appalling that it suffers from this kind failure so early in the Jeeps life. When I confronted the Jeep/Chrysler company with this issue, there only response was “it’s outside the warranty timeline”. The rep name was Sade and she was rude! This Jeep was garaged kept throughout it’s life. We’ve maintained this vehicle in immaculate condition, so much so that it STILL HAS THE NEW CAR SMELL!!! Very disappointed in Jeep. They used to be very reliable until they were bought out by FIAT, Go figure!

While driving, I heard a loud explosion, and my head/ neck jerked forward to the steering wheel. I immediately thought someone hit me from the back. My daughter in the passenger seat shouted, “Are you Ok?” She told me that the back head rest exploded. I was shaking and tears filled my eyes as I pulled over to the side of the road. The driver’s headrest deployed for NO reason! I was so lucky that this did not cause a major accident! That evening (and for the next 4-5 days), I had a headache and lower neck pain. Today, it still feels sore. Even though the dealer fixed it, the salesmanager could not confirm if the new head restraint had the same faulty parts inside. My daughter is 15 1/2…She is scared to death of learning to drive in my Jeep. She witnessed the restraint deploying, and doesn’t want that to happen to her. Me either! The problem has not been looked at by any professionals or independent dealers. It has not been inspected. We can't remember the exact time we noticed the message, but roughly around December 2020- January 2021. It is not a light it is a message that pops up a handful of times while driving.

Randomly my grand Cherokee overland 4wd stared spraying oil all over the rear of the vehicle. Took it to jeep and they said the rear deferential was shot and that the hose had melted off due to over heating. The vehicle never once displayed any indication of any failure or overheating. When I asked how could there not be any warning lights I was told it just happens. After researching this issue I discovered it's a very common problem. My concern is the vehicle could have easily locked up and caused the vehicle to flip or cause an accident with no warning.

Passenger side front seat seat belt fail to retract once extended, resulting in excess seat belt material across the body, and thus possibility of a delayed or insufficient tensioner reaction in an event. After taking to a local service shop, the problem is with the upper plastic guide pinching the belt. This is a huge safety issue since there can be slack in the belt for the front passenger. Also, the upper plastic guide on the driver side front seat belt has a fracture.

What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
