Defect. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2021-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L, 2022-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and Jeep Grand Cherokee 4XE vehicles. The rear coil springs may be incorrectly installed and detach from the vehicle while driving.

Risk. Rear coil springs that detach from the vehicle while driving increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will replace the rear coil spring lower isolators, free of charge. Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, are expected to be mailed September 29, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 89D. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will become searchable on NHTSA.gov on September 9, 2026. This recall replaces NHTSA recall numbers 26V051 and 23V413. Vehicles already repaired under the previous recalls will need to have the new remedy completed.

Defect. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2022-2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 2023-2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee L vehicles. A software error in the occupant restraint controller module may cause the delayed deployment of the side air bags during a crash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 214, "Side Impact Protection."

Risk. Delayed air bag deployment during a crash increases the risk of injury.

Remedy. Dealers will update the occupant restraint controller module software, free of charge. Some owner notification letters are expected to be mailed June 18, 2026. Defect. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jeep Grand Cherokee L vehicles. The second-row seat head restraints may not lock in the upright position. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 202, "Head Restraints."

Risk. Head restraints that do not lock can result in an increased risk of injury to seat occupants during a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will inspect and replace both second-row seat head restraints, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 5, 2025. Owners may contact FCA US LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 20C.

Defect. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jeep Grand Cherokee L vehicles. The blower motor may fail, which can cause the defrosting and defogging system to be inoperative. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 103, "Windshield Defrosting and Defogging Systems."

Risk. An inoperative windshield defrosting and defogging system may decrease the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will inspect and replace the blower motor, as necessary free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 8, 2025. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is 49C.

Defect. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2022-2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 2021-2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee L vehicles. An improperly secured connector for the front seat side air bags (SAB) may prevent the air bags from deploying. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 214, "Side Impact Protection."

Risk. An air bag that does not deploy during a crash increases the risk of injury.

Remedy. Dealers secured the connector, free of charge. All affected vehicles have been remedied. Owner notification letters were mailed December 17, 2024. Owners may contact FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA's number for this recall is B3B.

The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V562000 (Suspension). The contact stated that while in reverse(R), there was a popping sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. The contact exited to inspect the vehicle and became aware that the passenger’s side rear coil spring and both isolators were lying on the ground. The vehicle was jacked up, and the passenger’s side rear wheel was removed. The vehicle was then towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed with damage to the coil spring. The contact was informed that the passenger’s side rear coil spring needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a complaint was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V051000 (Suspension). The dealer was contacted and confirmed that parts were not yet available for the recall repair. The vehicle was taken to the dealer as a scheduled appointment, but upon arrival, the contact was informed that parts were not available for NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V562000 (Suspension); because the recall was being revised. The dealer referred the contact to the manufacturer for assistance. The manufacturer Stellantis, was called but hung up the phone.

The rear coil spring has detached from this 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L twice. The first time, the coil detached while we were driving more than a year ago. The second time, the coil detached while the vehicle was parked in our driveway last month. This is especially concerning because this vehicle has been subject to multiple recalls involving the rear coil spring. We also own another 2023 Grand Cherokee L (VIN ending 1431), and its rear coil spring also detached while we were driving. Between our two vehicles, we have experienced three separate coil-spring detachments. We are very concerned that the repeated recalls and repairs have not resolved this safety issue and no longer feel confident that these vehicles are safe to drive.

The rear coil spring detached from this 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L while we were driving more than a year ago. This vehicle has been subject to multiple recalls involving the rear coil spring. We also own another 2023 Grand Cherokee L (VIN ending 7805), which has experienced two separate rear coil-spring detachments—one while driving and another while parked in our driveway last month. Between our two vehicles, we have experienced three separate coil-spring detachments. We are very concerned that the repeated recalls and repairs have not resolved this safety issue and no longer feel confident that these vehicles are safe to drive.

I live in Unalaska/Dutch Harbor, Alaska, where there are no authorized Jeep/Chrysler/RAM dealerships. The manufacturer requires me to ship the vehicle to Anchorage at my own cost, which is not possible. They refuse to authorize a local repair or send a technician. Because of this, I cannot complete multiple open recalls, including 01D (NHTSA 26V-328). I am requesting that this be classified as “Unable to Remedy Due to Manufacturer Limitations.”

2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit unexpectedly applied the brakes while traveling approximately 78 mph with Adaptive Cruise Control engaged. There was no vehicle, object, or obstruction directly ahead. The forward collision/ACC warning activated immediately before the vehicle braked. At approximately the same time, the driver had touched the power lumbar button to disengage the lumbar. The lumbar had independently activated approximately 15–20 minutes earlier. Not sure if the 2 are related or if the is just coincidental?

This is in regards to my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L, the rear coil spring has detached from its position while the vehicle was in park. I had spoken to Mopar representative for concern of what i have read on their recall, the rep. had told me that my vehicle was already checked and completed on July of 2023. So i asked her why did the spring coil detached while in park if the issue was completed. same as other owners that has similar issues on the recall that i have read on complaints. can you please look into this as this could result in serious accident. there is a recall on this issue but my vehicle VIN # was not on the list of the recall. Thank you

The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. The contact stated that while driving 20 MPH, the headlight high beams failed to automatically activate as designed. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the automatic high/low beam activation system was inoperable. However, the vehicle was not repaired because the dealer was unable to repair the vehicle. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V130000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000.

Rear passenger side coil spring fell out. Vehicle was previously inspected and deemed not affected by the known coil spring recall by a CDJR service department. More recently deemed not included in the investigation looking into later ongoing issues. Currently the vehicle is in the possession of this service department awaiting parts and the Dealership is correcting or repairing via an extended warranty, also I will be paying my deductible with the warranty to complete the work.

We were accelerating from a stop light and reached about 50 mph when the brakes activated and large red letters saying “BRAKE” were displayed on the drivers dash screen and an alarm sounded. The vehicle slowed rapidly and suddenly. Fortunately we were around no other traffic so there was no collision. There were no impediments on the roadway which might have reasonably caused the brakes to activate.

Upon inspection, the contact discovered a spring sticking out of the middle of the rear end of the vehicle. The contact stated that there was a QR code attached to the coil spring with the part information. Upon further investigation, the contact discovered that the vehicle was serviced previously for the failure under NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V413000 (Suspension). The vehicle was then towed to the dealer, and the contact was informed that the vehicle would be covered under NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V051000 (Suspension); however, the contact later received a call that the vehicle was not covered under the recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired and remained with the dealer. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. While the contact’s husband was driving 70 MPH, there was an abnormally loud sound coming from the rear of the vehicle, and an unknown metal object detached and flew off the vehicle into the traffic behind the vehicle. The vehicle was pulled over and inspected, but there were no signs of the failure. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the suspension coil had dislodged and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 33,000.

The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the front driver's seat independently went backward and forward. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the vehicle was purchased. The vehicle was diagnosed with seat adjuster switch failure. The contact was informed that the front driver's seat adjuster switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was in the process of being repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.

The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked and occupied, the climate control was inoperable, and the odometer was flashing on the instrument panel. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed; however, the diagnostic result was unknown. The climate control module was reset, the connector to the climate control module was reset, the climate module was replaced, and the battery was replaced. The contact stated that the failure had occurred on several occasions. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 41,000.

The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. The contact stated that while his wife was driving 20-25 MPH, the accelerator pedal became stuck, and the vehicle drove through a stop sign and intersection, swerving into a farm, and crashed into a pole in order to bring the vehicle to a stop. After removing her foot from the brake pedal, the vehicle suddenly accelerated. The contact stated that the air bag had not deployed. There were no injuries sustained. There were no warning lights illuminated. A Police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and suggested that the vehicle be towed to the dealer. A claim was filed with the insurance company. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.

I was driving on the NYS thru way with my family and my rear suspension coil came out while we were driving. The part was not rusted or looked defected. When I took it to the dealership they said a recall for this issue had been repaired in June of 2023 prior to me owning it. I purchased the vehicle on October of 2024. I called corporate and they said there is nothing they will do for me. I paid $500 to fix an issue that should have been completed properly. This is now a safety concern for me and I fear driving it will happen again.

I am experiencing two serious issues with my Jeep that have raised significant safety concerns. First, the front passenger seat's lumbar bladder repeatedly inflates on its own, making the seat extremely uncomfortable and causing severe back pain for anyone sitting in it. I have been informed that this is a known issue affecting many Jeeps of this model. The dealership previously deflated the lumbar bladder under warranty, but now the problem has returned. I was told I must pay for the repair out of pocket because the previous deflation supposedly voided or disqualified the warranty coverage. I do not believe I should be responsible for paying to fix a recurring defect that was previously addressed under warranty. Second, the Electronic Brake System (EBS) warning light comes on randomly, and when it does, my vehicle unexpectedly slows down or comes to a stop. This creates an extremely dangerous situation while driving. I have been fortunate to avoid a collision so far, but I am very concerned for my safety and the safety of my four children, who regularly ride in the vehicle with me. I am requesting that these issues be thoroughly investigated and repaired at no cost to me, as they involve recurring defects and serious safety risks. I also request a written explanation of why my warranty claim for the recurring seat defect was denied after the dealership's previous repair.

Right passenger side rear coil spring ejected from vehicle pull into parking space a loud booming sound from rear of vehicle

The coil spring on the rear passenger side has become detached from my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Limited. I was unaware that it had happened when I started to drive and could hear something kind of bouncing around. When I got out of the vehicle to see what was going on, I could see that the rear of the car seemed unusually low. That is when I looked under and saw the spring dangling next to the tire. It could've caused a bad accident if it had gotten caught up in the tire or if it had completely detached and either hit another car or caused another car to hit it. The vehicle had a recall for this in 2023, before I owned it, and the status says "inspected" but not repaired. There was another recall early in 2026 for this same issue, but at this time, my vehicle is not part of that recall. However, it should be as this is a dangerous, scary issue that isn't immediately evident. I'm just grateful that I was in my neighborhood when it happened and not driving on the interstate at a high rate of speed, as there was nothing to indicate that it was imminently happening. It hasn't been inspected yet as it just happened but I will have it towed tomorrow to get inspected and repaired. It is underivable in its current condition.
