My 2019 Jeep completely lost ALL power while driving. There is a clanking sound that no one can locate. There is a change in the way the care is driving as far as power and engine sounds louder than usual. On 9.8.25 my sev 4WD indicator light appeared. I have seen the recalls for ALL these issues I am having but, My VIN # is showing that my care is NOT on the recall list. WHY??? I have had every single problem on the list related to this recall.

My PTU is failing. My 4 wheel drive no longer works. I have been waiting for a remedy for this recall for months.
My "4WD needs service" warning badge has come on and I took it to the Jeep dealership and they ran said it was related to the active recall on the PTU. They ran a diagnosis on the PTU and verified it is bad. Stellantis will not fix the issue as they don't have a solution. It has been 8 months since the recall was announced. They want me to pay for the PTU ($3-4K) and when/if the solution is found I can submit for a potential reimbursement. This is my only vehicle and is unsafe to drive. I don't want to pay $4,000.00 out of my pocket for something they should be fixing.
The start stop warning light is on now vehicle was idling when vehicle shut down emergency brake automatically engaged then the panel went blank and the windows the emergency warning lights all stopped working Unable to warn motorists in back of me I couldn’t drive vehicle. Then panel lights up again saying to step on brake to start but fails to do so until after several attempts
Vehicle cannot stay in 4x4 mode
My car is doing exactly what the newest recall is for the PTU... I lost power while driving, I couldn't put the car in park. I bought a new car the following day and it's been sitting in my driveway ever since.
This Jeep suddenly started smoking while driving. Driver immediately pulled over and noticed oil all over on ground. Towed to mechanic and the transfer case has a large crack and the rear differential is bad. Repairs exceeding $4000. Also, on a regular basis the car loses power while driving. Driver has to pull over and restart car. This has not been fixed yet. Not sure what it is. Both issues are known issues for Jeep Cherokees and also this year Jeep. Yet there is no recall for this VIN number. The costs for fixing this and the dangers are unacceptable. Scared about the power loss and not sure what my mechanic will find. This car should be included in the recalls for both issues. I am super disappointed in Jeep. I filed a report with Jeep cares and will also be contacting the attorney general and a consumer attorney. These issues need to be included in the existing recalls for this VIN number. Also, mechanic had to get a refurbished transfer case because there is a backlog of new transfer cases. Clearly this is a big issue.
The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving 70 MPH, the vehicle experienced reduced power temporarily, with the messages "4WD Unavailable - Service" and "Service 4WD" being displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the PTU had failed and needed to be replaced. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V011000 (Power Train); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 106,000.
“Service 4WD” message on the dashboard, vibration, grinding metal sound came from SUV.
Rear differential was replaced on 8/2/23 under warranty due to banging and vibration . Since then I feel that problem on 8/2/23 was caused by the transfer case issues, slowing down the jeep would bang when coming to a stop, as if someone hit us from behind. Whet to the dealer today 9/3/25 and the told us we needed a new transfer case and other related issues.
I was at a red light, the first in line, and when the light turned green, I pressed the gas, and heard a horrible thud(thinking someone hit me because my car rattled) and then the car would not move forward. Each time I pressed the gas, nothing moved. I put it into park and back to drive, nothing. I put it in reverse and nothing. I put it in manual, and nothing. I even switched to sand, snow, etc, and nothing. Every time I revved the motor it did not move. It remained on, and revved the engine, but would not move. I have never had any signals (sounds, emergency lights, etc) come on in the four years I've had this vehicle. It did have a recall on it and supposedly was repaired the day I purchased the vehicle. I had it repaired by the same place it was purchased (and where the recall was fixed) and the head service guy told me I needed to contact Mopar to let them know of this and they denied anything..My 2019 Jeep with (at the time of this) had only 96964 miles on it should not have had this occur! If I'd have been on the express way (instead of a very busy intersection at rush hour) this would've been catastrophic for me and others!
While driving, the emergency brake system becomes enabled, which immediately causes the vehicle to stop and sometimes stall. This is so dangerous! My daughter has been in the middle of an intersection when the vehicle has done this, she's lucky she hasn't been struck and killed. We have not taken it to a dealership, however online reports confirm this problem, and that the NHTSA is investigating it. There is a warning light that comes on when this happens, it says BRAKE, and then it gives prompts on what you need to do to disable the emergency brake. This has happened about four times in just this past year (we purchased this vehicle used and have owned it for one year), with the most recent time happening over the weekend. I was reversing the vehicle to move it to another spot in our driveway. I reversed the vehicle, then put it in Drive, and it immediately stopped and flashed BRAKE and enabled the emergency parking brake, although I didn't even touch it! I had to then put my foot on the brake, push the emergency brake button, (I think twice), and then I was able to drive forward.
My vehicle was showing signs of problems and has been diagnosed as needing a new PTU and rear differential. These are both well known issues of Recall ID 01C, but my VIN was not included in the recall. I was not aware of the issue and am concerned because this is a definite safety issue.
The PTU power train unit is bad in this jeep and has been for awhile. I seen in Jan 2025 a recall for this for some jeeps and my jeep should be on there it’s been on back order to get fixed and still nothing. Also the rear end differential has been fixed 3 times for it being broken in 4 years
I need my VIN added to the recall list as my vehicle is within the group of affected vehicles, I've been informed by my dealership that this vehicle is at risk of freezing up at any moment due to this condition which is a safety concern. The PTU is an extremely expensive repair.
I was traveling on [XXX] , a major highway from PA to NJ, when my car had a catastrophic explosion, without any warning, while I was driving. The car was running smoothly prior to the explosion. I do not know how I made it to the shoulder because once there I could not move the vehicle. I was on the shoulder and tractor trailers driving 70-80 mph were coming toward me and crossing over the white line into the shoulder. I truly thought I was going to be hit and killed. I had the car towed to my mechanic who informed me that the explosion occurred in the Transfer Case which could have caused a crash injuring myself and other drivers on the highway. My mechanic suggested to have the vehicle towed to a Jeep dealership for further investigation and repairs knowing that Jeep Cherokees from 2017 - 2019 had failed Transfer Cases installed. The dealership has informed me that I am responsible for the parts and labor because the power train warranty ran out and my VIN number is not part of the recall. I have incurred towing expenses, rental car expenses and diagnosis fees and I am still without my vehicle. The quote I was given is for $3400.00 plus tax. This occurrence happened due to no fault of my own. I feel that the recall should be expanded to include my vehicle. There is no loaner care available to me from the dealer and now they cannot get the parts needed until 9/13. This car is low mileage, and this should never have happened. On multiple occasions when driving and trying to increase speed (such as after pulling out of my driveway) the car makes a sudden jerking almost or like something "misses" and it slows down and takes a couple seconds to regain again. On the most recent occasion, the engine light then came on and wouldn't go off. The code when tested, said it had to do with the transmission.
PCM was replaced and a code came up that the PTU failed. PTU part is on national backorder. Would like this vin# put on recall so jeep will cover rental car expenses
The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle jerked abnormally. There was an abnormally loud banging sound while attempting to change gears. The “Service 4WD” warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the power transfer unit had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 48,000.
There is a pending recall on this vehicle for the past 8 months. There is still no remedy. My trade-in value has plummeted. I'm experiencing issues related to the PTU recall, and the dealership is telling me there is no known remedy. The vehicle randomly loses drive power / gains drive power. They know the PTU is what is likely wrong with the vehicle, but are refusing to fix the issue, because the recall doesn't have a remedy yet. How long does it take for a manufacturer to find a fix for this? Jeep should be responsible for paying / fixing this recall, yet they aren't because there isn't a remedy.
The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V011000 (Power Train); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The contact had not experienced a failure.
The contact’s mother owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while her mother was driving 35 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power and stopped in the middle of the road with the 4-WD warning light illuminated. The contact was concerned that the failure could have caused a crash, injury, or even death due to the failure. The contact stated that a Police report was filed with the Police Department of Montville; however, the report was not provided to the driver. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed and determined that the drivetrain control module had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 67,000.
Oil pressure light came on the same day the engine sees on freeway
Vehicle has a "4WD SVC" light on. I took it to the Jeep Service center to get it diagnosed and it turns out the vehicle will need a PTU (Power transfer unit). I was told that it is not covered under their 01C recall and that i would have to pay for the replacement which is almost $4000. I find it unfair since the vehicle is having the same symptoms stated in that recall and there is a class action lawsuit of this PTU failing since it is a very known issue. This vehicle is very unsafe to drive because it could just shut down on me randomly while driving. This will be the second time this vehicle will need the PTU replaced and i already paid them $400 for diagnosis.
Received an initial letter about the recall in January 2025 -with no resolution offered.. warning light went on in the vehicle on August 24, 2025. Took a vehicle to dealership today, August 25th. Dealer has informed me there is no fix, no timeline on a fix, but told me they cannot release it back to me because it is not drivable. I now have no car a full-time job and no way to get there with no timeline of when this will be resolve.
During certain temperatures my cars emergency brake light will come on, engine light the abs light all at once and the steering wheel will stiff up this used to happen to my 2004 Jeep grand cherokee now it’s with my new 2019 Jeep Laredo
My 2019 jeep Cherokee latitude only had 25000 miles on it when i bought it. Within a month the emergence break would come on by itself randomly while driving or beginning to accelerate from a parked or stopped state. Vehicle also can be parked completely level and it states the vehicle needs to be returned to park and restarted. Meanwhile all the lights come on on the dash and the shifter lights up red. Every single gear. It literally will not move unless you drift. It also will not start randomly, you will go out get in and for no reason it won’t turn over, yet the electrical systems will turn in fine, it’s getting power. In order for this to stop, you have to keep turning it on and off and apply the parking brake and the brake and than release them…. Over and over with intermittent breaks in between until it finally turns over. If you manage to get it started than it won’t shift properly. It stays in an extremely low gear unless you accelerate rapidly. And it won’t accelerate rapidly, your foot can be to the floor and it’s barely going until it gets into third and than just keeps rising never down shifting again until you coast to a stop and have to turn it off again and start the process over. On hills when this happens you will get hit and killed bc it won’t go in time for you to get out of oncoming traffic’s way. It has shut off while driving on the highway. Left me stranded blocking people in in parking lots. And almost gotten me and my family killed in several occasion
Power Transfer Unit - my power transfer unit has failed. This appears to be a manufacturing defect identical to those under the recall provisions. For some reason, my VIN # is not included.
After approximately 70,000 miles in my 2019 Jeep Cherokee, my Powertransfer Unit light came on and has refused to go off starting in between May - June 2025. My vehicle is available for inspection upon request. My safety and passenger's safety are at risk if my Powertransfer Unit malfunctions when driving. Problem has not been confirmed by a independent service center. Vehicle or component has not been inspected by manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. No other warning messages or symptoms prior to the failure
Fault within the power transfer unit. The vehicle sometimes switches to all wheel drive and struggles to revert to front wheel drive. SVC4WD light comes on
The power transfer unit (PTU) failed, which is part of Recall 01C. A warning light came on, which prompted me to bring the vehicle to the dealership. The dealership inspected the vehicle, confirmed the PTU had failed, and stated it is unsafe to drive. They also confirmed there is no remedy or replacement part available at this time. Because of this, the vehicle cannot be safely operated and I have been left without transportation.
Am concerned about theses vehicles even being on the roadways with no resolution to the safety recall being resolved. Reported in Jan 2025, no resolution yet. for 8 months? "Parts are not available". It appears by documentation that if you are in the states you can get a dealer to check via software to detect and monitor for excessive wear within a PTU. If PTU failure is confirmed by software, FCA US will replace the PTU for all impacted customers experiencing messaging related to the defect to replace the PTU. Warranty extension terms and unlimited years/unlimited mileage. Why can we not check the vehicle out at a Canadian Dealer to confirm what we are potentially driving down our busy highways?
The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V011000 (Power Train). The contact stated that while driving out of the driveway, the vehicle lost motive power. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to respond while in drive(D) or reverse(R). The contact was able to roll the vehicle back into the driveway. The 4WD warning light was illuminated. The contact called the local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 68,000.
I own a 2019 Jeep Cherokee Latitude, VIN [XXX] ], with approximately 77,000 miles. The vehicle’s 4WD transmission/Power Transfer Unit (PTU) has failed and requires replacement. This defect causes loss of 4WD function, reduced drivability, and presents a huge potential safety hazard. The symptoms are identical to those described in NHTSA Recall 25V-011 for 2017–2019 Jeep Cherokees with PTU snap-ring failures, which can result in loss of motive power and rollaway risk. Although my VIN is not currently included, the year, make, model, and defect match the recall population exactly. This failure has significantly devalued my vehicle and created an unsafe condition. I am requesting investigation into why my VIN is excluded and for the recall to be expanded to cover affected vehicles like mine. AIRBAG SYSTEM MAINTENCE LIGHT CAME ON
On Friday, 8/1/2025, while driving my car, I lost power and the SVC4WD message came on. I took it to the dealer on Monday, 8/4/2025. The technician told me that I need a new PTU and Transfer Box unit in order to fix the problem. He told me there are no recalls for this specific vehicle. I looked on your web site and using my VIN, I was able to pull up information. See included documentation. I also called Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) and they told me there are no recalls for the 2019 Jeep Cherokee. I was told that only "certain" cars are affected. My car has 39,000 miles driven. It is my understanding that this particular problem appears at 39K miles. It seems to me that my car should be included in the recall. The technician also informed me that it will take "months and months" to fix the problem and it will cost $3,000+. I am a single mom on a fixed income. I cannot afford the repair cost or to be without my vehicle for an indefinite amount of time. I request that my car be included in the recall. And that you provide a vehicle for me to drive while the dealer waits for the parts considering that they are in short supply and the dealer does not know when and if they will receive the parts necessary to fix the problem.
The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V011000 (Power Train); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that while driving 50 MPH, the vehicle experienced reduced motive power and failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact related the failure to the recall. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was test-driven. The dealer informed the contact that there was a coolant leak, and the dealer determined that the radiator needed to be replaced under warranty. The part was ordered. Additionally, the dealer informed the contact that upon scanning the vehicle, there was no indication of a PTU failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the dealer PTU diagnostic test process would be escalated to the Technical Team for investigation. The contact was referred to the dealer for rental vehicle assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 92,000.
The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at an undisclosed speed, the message "4WD Unavailable - Service Soon" was displayed with the 4WD icon illuminated intermittently for three months. The contact that while driving at 15-25 MPH, and there was a slight grinding sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the brake pads and rotors needed to be replaced, and the PTU needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
On [XXX] my 2019 Jeep Cherokee (VIN: [XXX] ) unexpectedly caught fire while [parked/operating — choose one], originating from what appears to be an internal electrical or wiring defect. No modifications, aftermarket parts, or repairs had been made to the engine or wiring since purchase, meaning the defect originated from the manufacturer. The fire caused significant damage to the wiring, requiring professional repair, and left me severely traumatized. Although the vehicle was repaired, the incident could have easily caused me serious injury or death. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
2019 Jeep with 59051 miles on it. Upon starting the car, the idle was low and the engine ran rough. While driving, it would stall when stopping. After several tries it would start but not stay running while idling. The jeep dealership stated the plugs were fouled, ($400), then when that did not fix it the fuel pump was bad ($4000), when that did not fix it they stated the bad fuel pump and plugs caused the engine to lose compression and it now needs a complete motor ($11,500). This car's 60K/5year warranty expired by 4 months. Turns out this problem is happening with lots and lots of jeeps. Stalling on the road while driving is not acceptable and very unsafe! Jeep needs to find the problem and recall it.
Delamination of the console screen. Due to this delamination the vehicle has "ghost" called s.o.s. (911) and other people multiple times. it frequently changes radio stations (not a big deal) While driving on the highway has put the rear view camera on screen randomly. which has been a very scary distraction. It has also changed from a/c to heat (also not a big deal) The biggest safety issues are the dialing of 911 and the rear view camera turning on. This will happen even if I turn off the screen completely. I have brought this by a dealer. they say it is a common issue. I have also brought it by a private auto mechanic. They also say it is common, but that its not usually as bad. I first noticed the delamination when I purchased the vehicle at a dealer, I thought it was just the screen protector lifting. It has progressively gotten worse. There are multiple reports on this when i have googled the issue. There have been multiple times this has happened. I will put the most recent of dates, because that was the worst, and I haven't driven it since, since I'm afraid of having an accident.
Since late last year we have experienced intermittent shift slippage when going from just starting out to automatically shifting to next gear. This has happened many times. We never knew about any recall until we took vehicle to dealer ( Manahawkin Jeep ) for another issue with the oil filter housing leaking. The vehicle jerks forward and is not a smooth shift. The problem has not been inspected by the manufacturer or anyone else except the owner. No warnings or messages about issue.
The car shut off again in the middle of the road, this really needs to be addressed.
There has been a safety recall issued since January 16, 2025. Today's date is August 11, 2025. To this date there is still no remedy available. I own two Jeeps with this same recall as part of my business. I am losing close to $3,000 in revenue per month between the two. I'm quickly approaching lost revenue of $21k. Is there a time requirement for manufacturers to address their safety recalls? Seven months is far too long. Thank you.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? UNKNOWN; believe it may be something with the suspension or possibly the transmission. Their is a chirping sound when making a low speed (15 MPH or so) turn more prominent when making turn up a hill. Sounds can also sometimes be replicated when letting off the accelerator and getting back on it again which is why I believe may be a transmission issue. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? UNKNOWN Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? It has not yet been reported. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? I did have the Service AWD light illuminate a while ago but it shut off when vehicle was restarted.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
