2024 Honda Prologue complaints

HondaLink app will not connect with vehicle and requires re-activiation with Honda support occasionally. This is a safety concern as I am unable to identify and/or unlock car in an emergency (lost key), nor check tire pressure, and ultimately identify current state of vehicle battery. I have notified manufacturer and have two (2) open cases at this time. Dealer has also been notified. No warning lamps, several messages appear (see attached images). First occurrence was shortly after taking receipt of vehicle (Wednesday 15-Jan) and has occurred on several other occasions, which has caused me to request specific case investigation from manufacturer.

Anytime the headlights are turned on, the center console Infotainment system starts scrolling through random menus and initiating button presses on any option available in the menu it is on. It also becomes completely unresponsive to human button presses while this happens. This becomes a huge safety issue as any vehicle system that is available from a button press can be turned on or off randomly. This problem is repeatable and happens every time the headlights are on.

Vehicle makes a clicking noise at the CV joint. Honda dealer said it was a "known problem but safe to drive." At first I thought it only happened if I had to make a sharp turn and accelerate from a stopped position. Now, it occurs far more frequently even with gentle turns like from a red light.

Knocking noise when making sharp/tight turns/u turns. Took vehicle to Honda dealer and was advised that axle/cv joint is issue. It is known and not estimated repair time provided.

My 2024 Honda Prologue had less than 900 miles on it when "High Voltage Warning" appeared on my dash, and warned me to take the vehicle to a service center immediately - I did, and now my Prologue has been in service for 20 days straight. (As of 1-17-25)

The vehicle makes a knocking sound when turning - left or right. It seems to be an axle problem.

The car has a clicking sound when turning left or right. The dealership says that it is caused by a failing CV Axel. This apparently has been happening to dozens and dozens other Honda Prologues. I have not contacted the manufacturer about this issue as the dealerships are aware. This failure could lead to safety issues as it is related directly to steering and power train. There are not any notifications, messages, or lamps pertaining to this issue. When I leased this vehicle, the clicking was not happening to the one I leased, but the vehicle I test drove was doing it much more frequently than mine currently is.

I have the same CV joint issue as most prologues. Loud, rapid clicking when turning right or left and Honda has no fix or remedy. I’m kind of just waiting for the front axle to fall apart while driving. The other issue is electrical, issues with hvac system and the memory seat has no fix either. Suspension is biggest issue that is unfixable and seems to be a high risk safety issue in my opinion.

When using honda link locking or unlock doors system fails to unlock. If I can’t get to my keys or have lost my keys I’m locked out of my vehicle. In case of emergency I would be locked out of my vehicle and could be a safety hazard. This is unconfirmed by dealer and I have not contacted the manufacturer of this issue.

When turning the steering wheel all the way to the left or right (full lock turn), a clicking sound is noticed on either the front driver or passenger sides of the vehicle. This happens whether the vehicle is moving forward or in reverse. This is a safety concern as a failure could lead to a loss of steering, endangering the driver, occupants and others on the road. The problem has been reproduced by myself, but has not been confirmed by a dealer.

There is an increasingly loud clicking noise when turning. The dealer states that there is an ongoing issue regarding the steering rack but the parts are out of stock, they advise to keep driving until the part is back in stock.

The Automatic Emergency Braking system engages without any apparent reason leading to a very dangerous situation since the vehicle abruptly makes a hard stop. This is a real road safety issue.

Any time you take a tight turn in either direction you hear a clicking in the steering column.

The Hatchback door opened while we were traveling on the highway without warning.

When you setup your EV to charge over night to 80 percent or what ever percentage it will charge more then what you programmed it to do....it will be more. Which can be very dangerous. It continues to do this since day one.

Every time you drive out of our parking garage your warning system will slam on the brakes even if you are not even close to anything....the brake force is extreme and dangerous. extremely sensitive

Knocking noises from CV joint when turning left.

When the car is in reverse it will slam on the brakes abruptly while flashing the cross traffic or rear collision warning lights when nothing is there. It’s very annoying and can be a safety hazard especially if it is icy or snowy. I have found myself sliding on ice and snow when in reverse because the vehicle slams on the brakes. I have almost hit things multiple times.

I turned on the car and backed out of my driveway and my infotainment and gauge cluster screens both went black. I pulled over to the side of the road because I could not see what my speed was and I couldn’t see what gear I was in. I restarted the car multiple times and it finally turned back on. I also realized later that I wouldn’t be able to turn on my headlights if it was dark outside. This is very unsafe and should be fixed. I do not believe I am the only one with this issue as I have seen many many others.

No heat at all. This is not good when here in the northeast its only been in the teens. My car has now been sitting at the dealership for a month with no idea when the part will be in to fix it. If they had just said to keep driving it till the parts came in this could have caused a safety issue health wise. I have not contacted the manufacturer as of it about this issue.

The CV joint in the steering system clicks when turning to the right and left while accelerating.

I have a clunking sound during either left or right turns. Sound started around 5,500 miles on the odometer and has become increasingly more pronounced and frequent. If these parts fail while negotiating a turn the chance of an accident and possible injury is high. Dealership service department can reproduce the issue and confirmed the CV joints should be replaced. Dealership informed me parts are back ordered with no timeframe for when they may become available.

Specifically, I have encountered recurring problems with the vehicle's automatic braking system, as well as issues with the Honda Prologue app, both of which I believe compromise the vehicle's safety and performance. The vehicle's automatic braking system appears to be malfunctioning, as it has activated unexpectedly on multiple occasions, leading to near-miss accidents. On at least three occasions, the vehicle’s brakes have engaged without cause, even in situations where there is no obstruction or “phantom” vehicle detected. This automatic braking has not only been inappropriate but also posed a significant safety risk to both myself and other road users. The reverse braking system exhibits similar issues, activating without cause. Despite the alerts being on and the brakes not being engaged, the system’s warning signals still activate, leading to further confusion and potential danger. I have consulted with both the dealership and the Prologue forum, and it has been confirmed that this is an ongoing issue. However, the dealership has indicated that they have no immediate workaround or solution. The only suggested viableremedy has been to disable these safety features entirely, which negates the very purpose of having them. The Honda Prologue app, which is intended to provide critical vehicle information and allow remote monitoring and control, is also malfunctioning. I have been in communication with Honda for over two months regarding these issues, but unfortunately, no so

CV Joint/ Axle. Also, rear collision warning system. CV Joint/Axle makes a very audible clicking sound when accelerating during a turn. Rear collision warning system hard brakes whenever you reverse even when there isn't anything there. the only solution is to disable it. I brought the vehicle to the honda dealership where i purchased it from and they confirmed there's an issue but said it's "normal". they were able to reproduce it The honda dealership inspected the vehicle. The CV Joint/Axle - i didn't notice any issues until i started hearing the sound. it was initially only when making right turns, but now it's heard when making right and left turns.

Clicking in the area of the CV axles began to occur when making turns after a few thousand miles and has progressively gotten worse over time. Dealer eventually confirmed and ordered the part but it is on back order indefinitely.

When making a sharp left hand turn out of a parking lot I hear a loud clicking coming from, it seemed, the front right hand side. This clicking seemed to be at the tire rotation rate and ceased when I straightened out after the turn. I have heard a similar sound when the u joints in a prior car of mine were about to fail.

The car reduced speed, shut down heat and an error code for high voltage issue appeared. The car was in the shop for 3.5 weeks while Honda misdiagnosed issue then repaired cooling issue on battery

The vehicle slams on its brakes during attempts to back up on a random basis. Strong safety concern when parallel parking and it stops several times in a row when it is nowhere close to a car. This also occurs in empty parking lots

Car has a clicking noise when turning sharp both right and left. Dealer has said it most likely is the cv joints. They are a known issue and on backorder.

While backing up the car will slam on the brakes for no reason. It has done this twice with nothing behind me. Scary when you think you have got something.

On 13 August 2024 I was driving my 2024 Honda Prologue when the DIC and infotainment screens went blank. At this time with no information displayed on any screen, the car was unsafe to operate. I drove the car straight to the local dealer, Tony Honda. The dealer was unable to diagnose the problem. After contacting Honda Tech support, they decided the audio control unit was defective. After 65 days the dealer was able to replace the unit and it seems to work properly. Honda informed the dealer the car was safe to operate without any display screens or information. Actually the car was unsafe to drive with no speedometer indication or any other control functioning.

When using my HondaLink app to unlock the door, sometimes the app has issues sending the signal to the car. This is a safety issue because in the event I lose my keys I will be locked out of my vehicle, or in the event of an emergency when I need to access the vehicle quickly, I will be unable to do so This is unconfirmed by any dealer and I have not contacted the manufacturer about the issue.

After charging my car from ~20% to 80% over the course of ~8 hours, I powered on the car, reversed out of my parking space, and began driving. Shortly after (<1 min), I noticed that both my Instrument Panel screen and my Infotainment screen had shut off and were black. I continued driving for another 2-3 minutes before pulling into a parking lot. In the lot I powered the car on and off many times, and also powered the car on in Service Mode. During each of these power cycles both screens remained black. About an hour later I returned to the car and again the screens did not turn on. I drove the car about half a mile, stopped and turned it off again for around 30 minutes. After coming back to the car this time, the screens worked as normal. My safety was put at risk because without my instrument panel, I lose almost all feedback and situational awareness of the state of the car. Also, while backing out of a parking space while the screens were not working, I did not have access to my back-up camera. I have not yet taken the car to a dealer or mechanic. I am writing this report directly after the screens resumed operating. I did not see any warning lamps or messages prior to the failure. But when I entered the car initially, I did notice that the infotainment screen was turned on and at a screen that otherwise is not seen until I turn on the car.

When turning the vehicle on, it sometimes displays an error in the instrument panel of the”Brake system failure 43 MPH Top Speed” When this error is present, the vehicle has almost no braking capability. One pedal braking is also disabled when this happens. So the only way to stop the car is to mash the brake pedal to the floor like your life depends on it. Turning the vehicle off for 5 minutes and turning it back on seems to clear the issue.

Brake system failure happened the day after I bought the vehicle and the dealer found no issues or errors than another brake failure occurred in one week. This could have caused a major accident to a point where my safety is in fear

I purchased this vehicle on October 22, 2024, with the expectation that it met the highest safety standards, including a dependable airbag system designed to protect occupants during collisions. However, on December 23, 2024, I was involved in a major collision where the airbags failed to deploy despite the severity of the impact. The damage to the vehicle was so extensive that it has been declared a total loss by my insurance company.

Both screens suddenly turned black while I was driving. I had no way to restart the screen, even after shutting off the car and turning back off. The two black screen remain on, but no way to see charging status, speed, control lights, etc.

Parking my car in a space with other cars. Nowhere near the car in front of me and the car just locked up the brakes. It was jarring and really strained my neck as I wasn’t expecting it. My daughter was in the car as well and was jarred.

The center console and the screen behind the sharing wheel black at the same time while I was driving. I couldn't see the speed I was going while driving. I tried turning off the car, taking the key out, then turning the car back on the nothing changed. This issue put me and the other people on the road at risk. Two days before my center console was glitching. I tied to put the map on google maps and apple CarPlay map and it was non stop moving. After about an hour the screen and maps staring the work fine then this time it went completely out. I have schedule an appointment at my nearest dealership for this issue hopefully they know what going on. I have also went online to see if I am the only one experiencing this problem. I few other people have also voiced their concerns on this issue.

Automatic emergency braking triggers repeatedly when no hazard is present. The system triggered emergency braking and a close-call accident at an intersection. Cars were parked along the side of the road, presumably tricking the system into thinking there was a hazard. Brakes slammed on with a car directly behind us, almost rear ending us. This also happened when reversing out of our driveway. No hazards present, but the system slammed on the brakes. Only possible cause was shadows. These systems are dangerous and not ready for public use. Please force the manufacturer to fix this before people are hurt.

My car has 2824 miles and the front left CV JOINT has failed according to the dealership that completed the inspection. They state they were told by GM and Honda that the car was safe to drive. I have known someone that had a CV joint fail and lost the wheel. I do not feel that this is safe and no one should be recommended to continue to use the car with a faulty wheel component. This is a huge safety risk. I was told the part would be in 2 weeks on 12/3/24 it is now 1/3/25 and the parts team has let me know it could be the end of February now before it arrives and that is just a loose estimate as there are of cars with this same issue waiting

Brakes activated in an unwarranted situation. Suddenly stopping in the middle of traffic.

The collision system is too sensitive. Regularly when I’m backing into a parking spot the car will slam on the breaks even though there aren’t any objects in the way. This will also happen on occasion while driving forward normally potentially causing someone behind me to rear end the car

Sensors cause unnecessary braking when going in reverse. Happen in rainy conditions.

Vehicle Drive Shaft makes clicking noise at the CV Joint. Vehicle part is backordered due to nationwide shortage caused by vehicle defect on numerous 2024 Honda Prologues. There is no code on dashboard. Honda service has looked at vehicle and stated noise is caused by the CV joint for the drive shaft. Still says to drive due to backordered parts with no resolution. Vehicle has less than 6000 miles on it when problem arised.

I turned my car on and the screens were on, I put it in drive and both screens went black, I pulled over and I restarted the car multiple times, nothing would come on. I had to drive one hour to work without being able to see how fast I was going, or how many miles. It was completely dark and this is a serious safety issue.

About 30 miles after starting a 1,500-mile road trip, the infotainment screen and driver instrument panel both went completely blank. After about 60 seconds, the system apparently rebooted, restoring both screens to normal operation. However, during that minute I was driving at approximately 75 mph on Interstate 90, and I had no access to certain vehicle controls and no way to verify my speed or see messages about cruise control. The error generated no warning lights or error codes, so I have not reported the issue to the manufacturer or dealership. The issue occurred with the odometer at about 180 miles. The odometer is now at about 1650 miles. I have not experienced the issue again.

Critical Safety Issue: Vehicle exhibits severe steering stability defects creating immediate safety hazards: 1. Continuous side-to-side oscillation occurs while maintaining straight-line travel, even with steering wheel held firmly in position. Vehicle "snakes" within lane without driver input, making it dangerous during lane changes and blind spot checks. 2. Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) malfunctions due to steering offset: - System overcompensates with excessive left steering correction - Creates dangerous oversteering situation - Had to disable LKAS for safety - Demonstrates underlying steering system defect 3. Additional steering abnormalities: - Strong rightward pull during acceleration - Excessive resistance during left turns at highway speeds - Asymmetrical handling between left/right turns - Issues persist with LKAS disabled Safety Implications: - Cannot maintain steady lane position - Constant steering corrections required - High risk during emergency maneuvers - Loss of critical LKAS safety feature - Particularly dangerous at highway speeds - Driver distraction during blind spot checks while managing unstable steering Dealer Response: - Multiple visits without resolution - Over one week in shop - Claims behavior is normal - Dismisses safety concerns Issue is consistent and reproducible across different road conditions. Problem absent in other vehicles including rental car during service period. Video documentation available. Request investigation of: - Steering

On Dec. 19 the infotainment system and the instrument panels both went blank. I was driving away from my home. I touched a button on the steering wheel that controls the content of the screen that is the main instrument panel. The heads up display failed as well. The car kept running, but I could see any information such as my speed, my battery level or any of the other usual information. I could not reboot the system by myself when I called the dealership, but they said that after I handed it over to them, that it was rebooting. I took it back home and it seems to be working normally, but nothing Planet Honda did will guarantee that this will not reoccur. Planet Honda said they have heard of this happening to others, but that it's rare. If you google this problem, you can see other Prologue owners have had this happen.. This is very upsetting and potentially dangerous to not know your speed or to be able to control the lights of the car and other items. \

I just leased a 2024 Honda Prologue in October. It has a serious design flaw that Honda is refusing to fix -- the minimum temperature setting for heat is 70 degrees! Set the temperature any lower than 69 and it will blast feet and face with cold air even if the car is cold and it is 20 degrees outside. With a heavy winter coat, that's way too warm (and its also bad for range). I consider it a safety issue because when it gets too warm, it negatively impacts my alertness. And I can't safely take off my heavy winter coat while on the highway. I opened case #[XXX] with Honda on [XXX] and on Dec 20 Cynthia called me back to say that unless NHTSA declares it a safety defect Honda will not be fixing this. Now I'm stuck with the 3 year lease with this problem unless I can convince the dealer and Honda Finance to terminate the lease and refund my money.
